removed from me
I went to mountains with my universal, there was a light rain and after my trip my lcd touchscreen stoped working correctly, so I disassembled entire universal and I used hair dryer to dry lcd display, well it is working fine for now
Anyway, I still have a warranty
How can I replace the LCD myself? is there a tutorial for opening the screen unit? I dont see any visible screws

Hi I have cracked my o2 XDA iis screen and it still lights up and everything but it can not detect the screen taps. I already taken this to phone fix and they said it would cost £150 to fix. Im not on o2 contract so I can not just take it back to the shop to get a new one.
Would anyone know where it could get fixed?
Thanks .

If you can see everything on the screen perfectly and it has backlight indeed, that means you "only" broke the touchscreen part (digitizer). You can get one from here for $105.
just used pda smart for a whole new led display and digitizer, in the UK and recommend them a lot.
My XDA 2s broke (couldnt make a connecting call)
so i rang o2 got a replacement sent out but it was the xda 2i. Which im happily using.
My xda 2s got sent to o2, but some hoe got sent BACK to me, and o2 have never asked for it since.
now, ive just bought another XDA2s from ebay that has a cracked screen but rest of the fone works.
SO does any body know if the 2 screens will be direct replacements?
ive removed the working screen from my XDA 2s and im waiting for the broken xda2s to arrive.
Also does any body know if there is a guide on how to change the screen that i could follow?
thanks
Why not look in the Wiki? But if you can't be bothered, there's a 1 in 3 chance it's the same and a 1 in 2 chance it will be interchangable.
p.s If you've already removed the screen why do you need a guide?...
Richard
i was a bit brutal removing the screen, as i didnt need the rest of the fone.
just a bit of re-assurince to be honest.

Hi,
This is my first post here so I hope it's in the correct place.
I've got a Universal with a damaged screen (I trod on it ). Does any one know if it's possible to get a replacement (in the UK if possible)? If so, could you please tell me where from. Also, has anyone out there actually changed a screen on a Universal.? It looks a bit difficult to get the screen apart: I'm not sure where to start. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Tony

Hi, I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I dropped my Qtek 9000 on the floor and the screen broke. I bought a new LCD screen on ebay and replaced the screen my self. It was not very difficult and you only have to unscrew a total of 8 screws to do the job. I used the service manual to get some guidance in how to remove the screen.
Try these guys
I've not used them but remembered seeing them being talked about elsewhere in the forum.

I have seen on here that others have also broken their screens, and suggested places to get them fixed / order new screens. How have you got on? Where dd you get your screen from, for how much, and did it all work ok??
Also is the xda Orbit a G1 screen or a toppoly (read it on eBay).
Any help much appreciated.

Hi guys,
sorry if they has been answered elsewhere, ive been searching the web for days. I got a brand new HTC desire a couple of weeks ago and preceded to drop it, shattered the digitizer and damaged the LCD screen. I decided to do the repair myself and changed the parts no problem. The problem is the replacement screen wont work (it was brand new, genuine). My phone has an SLCD (checked part number against the replacements) and the replacement was an AMOLED.
Should the screen work no problem in my handset or do i need to get a hold of a SLCD? Also, im new to the rooting scene, but would this help 'fix' my problem?
Any help would be appreciated. I need to get my 2 weeks old phone working again haha.....i should have just sent it to HTC lol.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
