A useful post, with useful free applications

I'm addicted to flashing. But I like my apps. Ive collected some good ones, and I hope that this thread is useful. I had always wished that there would be a central place that I could look at for quality apps for the Excalibur. I will try to get the .cab files on this post, but for now all download links are in descriptions:
Web Browsers:
Opera Mini: The most functional internet browser for the Excalibur. the .cab file(s) is attached in the 2nd post on this thread.
Skyfire: Better web browser, plays flash. Slow on the Excalibur no matter which ROM you use Official site here.
Bolt Browser: Currently in open beta, is a Java program and works like Opera Mini, but based on webkit. Worth a try if you are looking for something new. Official site here.
Communication:
Windows Live: An essential, allows push email if you have a Hotmail or lLve account. Offical site here.
Facebook: Is a good application that runs smoothly. My only gripe with it is that the feeds are not pushed to the application. Instead if you want to find something out, you have to refresh it. You can upload pictures, videos, update status, comment on other's, etc. I have the .cab attached or it is here
Tiny Twitter: The best twitter client for our phone. Official site here.
Palringo: My favorite IM application. Does all the typical IM services, but also Facebook! Awesome. Official site here.
Fring: Another decent IM software. I prefer Palringo. But if your taste differs, official site is here.
Skype: Fun, useful and saves minutes if you pay. You can send texts for free through it though. A defeinite plus. Official site here.
Entertainment:
Kinoma FreePlay: An excellent media application. Although it does use quite a bit of memory- its All-In-One aspect justifies its use of RAM. It plays your music, photos, and video... But you can also access YouTube, stream radio stations, Flickr, you name it! Kinoma FreePlay is free but the upgraded version, Kinoma Play is $30. Official site is here, its worth checking out.
SmartGear: The best emulator for windows mobile. Plays Sega Genesis, Gamegear, NES, GBC. It is free to try, $10 to buy. Official site here.
Pocket Nester Plus: Free, but not as good as SmartGear. Only plays NES games. Find to download here.
Kevtris: Best Tetris game for windows mobile in my opinion. Download here.
Pandora: Update New pandora .cab tested and working good on WM 6.5 EVO 2.0 Naturally works best with WiFi since the Dash has no 3G. The .cab is attached to this post.
TCPMP: The most versatile, and free media player. Will play almost anything you throw at it (like a vlc for windows mobile). You can download either here or here with extra codec support.
Navigation/Search:
Google Maps Mobile: Best mapping application for our phone. Official site here.
Bing: If you are familiar with Windows Live Search, this is it- rebranded. It is useful. Official site here.
Backup:
Microsoft MyPhone: Backs up your texts, media, contacts. Overall useful application if you don't go for Dashwire. Official site here.
Dashwire: Free, like Microsoft's MyPhone, it is a backup of contacts, pictures, videos, etc. But then from online you can send texts from your phone. Its cool. Again, .cab is attached but official site is here
Organization:
Microsoft Recite: Stores voice memos and can look them up via your own speech. Surprisingly useful. Worth a try. Official site here.
EDIT: There are lots of members contributing to this thread with lots of other great applications. Please read through the comments below because there is some great stuff to find here!
If you feel like I have missed an application, please post it and share!
If you like this thread, please say it. I (think) I'm doing good by posting this thread and making newcomers, or more experienced users, lives easier.
~Reserved for more .cab files~
awesome and extremely useful!
Good idea! Hopefully, we will not need to search threads and posts to find our apps anymore!
This IS a useful post!
Heres some links to a whole buttload of CABs:
REMOVED LINK DUE TO WAREZ
and here:
REMOVED LINK DUE TO WAREZ

I'm glad that this thread is appreciated. Thank you for contributing!
thanks guys
Thanks for the "Microsoft MyPhone" I was needing a free app that also backed up my calender since I switch phones often and its a P.I.T.A. to have to manually sync up my calenders from phone to phone. Dashwire wont do that and I dont use outlook.
Thax for this thread
does anyone have the cracked version of foxit reader? i had it but when i switch roms i forgot to back it up. its a freeware, but theres no way for me to register because i think they abandoned the project
Thanks for the thread!
Another useful cabs are
Autokeylock, by maniac.
Clock on Top
CT Scheduler (lite version is free)
Base hue
Freeup ram
**And of course, a registry editor***
edit:cabs uploaded
This would be handy as a sticky topic. That way it would be easy to find it when someone goes looking for something.
Any way here are a couple links that I would like to share. I found them to be useful from time to time.
more apps .......
amAzeGPS: A sweet Free GPS nav with 3D view and voice turn by turn. Usually you have to pay for a program like this. Data connection required.
MyPhone: phone contacts, calender, photos, etc back-up app as mentioned in the first post. IMO better than Dashwire because it dosent make the phone lag or eat up RAM. Data Required.
Bejeweled are just trials but I just uninstall and reinstall them to use them again.

I don´t know if it´s current version, but this one works pretty well.
I know for sure that the wm6.5 from NRGZ and Ookba have it cooked in 2.0 version. but since I couldn´t find a CAB for 2.0, grab this one.

Medical Apps for the Touch HD and others

I know several of us here are in the medical field and I thought I would start a thread, where we can share information of how our phones can be useful to us in our field. My goal is to spread the word as to what tools are available to us, regardless of what branch of the medical field we are all in.
If anyone has used some good programs or if you simply want to confirm that an application works well with the resolution of the HD, then please share with the rest of us.
Just as a reminder to everyone, XDA is not a place to share illegal content, so please don't post links to cracks etc...
I'll start with links to several web pages where you can find a lot of apps.
Medical Wizards. They have a lot of nice solid apps.
Skyscape has a lot of apps both for desktop PC and PPC.
Mobipocket has a section for medical ebooks. You might find some useful. The nice thing here is that you can install the reader on your PC and your PPC so you can view their ebooks on either one.
Handy Patients (from Handylife.com). I think the graphics need major improvement, but it seems to have excellent features for patient management.
PDA-Medicus: Although the website is in German, many of the links are to English apps. You can use Google translation to translate paragraphs in the pda-medicus site that might interest you.
And for any German speakers...
Mobipocket in German has some good ebooks - readable on PC and PPC.
PDA-Medicus (mentioned above) has a well organized list of links both in German and in English - freeware as well as shareware.
Reserved space in case it's needed in the future.
Are there any good ones for dentists?

I just did a quick search and found these for dentists:
PDA Resources for dentists
LexiComp PDA Software for dentists: The first three on that list (as of today) are for iPhone only. But starting with the Lexi-Dental-Suite and below, they are also offered for PPC.
Skyscape ebooks for dentists: you'll have to see which ones are for PPC. That link will show you a lot books, but some are also for general health care knowledge.
Maybe someone else can recommend other ones too.

[Collection] Zooper design ressources (Fonts, Wallpaper, Device Frames,...)

This collection is meant to be a central gathering point for anyone who is looking for some sources of material to use in their widget design. I'll start it with some of my personal favorites in the different categories and hopefully other can help this grow through their contributions :fingers-crossed:
If you have questions concerning the collection or if you want to name some sources of your own, so they can be added to this collection, please feel free to post in this thread.
If you are looking for tutorials, guides and references for Zooper itself, please have a look at my other thread [REF] Zooper Guides, References and Advanced Parameter Snippets or if you have a general question about Zooper though, please check the General Zooper Forum or the Q&A thread. Thank you for helping to keep this thread on topic :good:

Apps
First I want to start off with some app that I use nearly every time when designing/working with Zooper. These are just my personal favorites and if you have an alternative app for the same job, please post about it so I can add it to the list.
Gallery/Imagepicker: QuickPic - For the currently best available gallery app on Android. Simple design, not too overloaded with functions and it just works great
Wallpaper: Wallbase HD Wallpapers - The app version of one of the wallpaper sites. Works really well, great selection and a good search function
File manager: ES File Explorer - My go-to file manager on Android. Root capabilities, tabbed file browsing, advanced functionality like zip/unzip, all that and more rolled into one awesome, free package.
Archive manager: ZArchiver - Can unpack nearly any know compression format. Essential if you download stuff directly to your device and your file manager doesn’t support compressed archives.
Fonts
For fonts, my personal favorite is Font Squirrel. They have a huge collection of great looking, free fonts and the best part: all their fonts are guaranteed to have a commercial compatible license. So if your are looking for a nice font to replace Roboto in your designs go check it out: http://www.fontsquirrel.com
While Font Squirrel is my main source for fonts, there are other noteworthy sites I like to check for fonts:
Google Fonts - Also has a good collection of free fonts and a pretty niffty search (Google, d’uh ), that helps you narrow down those choices https://www.google.com/fonts/
Dafont - My main site before I discovered Font Squirrel, as it has a very broad collection of different types of fonts. http://www.dafont.com
To use your new discoveries, download them to your phone. Most times they will be in a ZIP, so you’ll need a filemanager with the abilitie to extract these or use an app like ZArchiver (see Apps category). The extracted or downloaded fonts should be in either TTF or OTF format (check the file extension). Copy those files to either /sdcard/fonts/ or /sdcard/ZooperWidget/Fonts/ and they will show up the next time you are going to select the font familly on a Text or Rich Text module.
Wallpaper/Backgrounds
Here are some sites I check if I’m looking for a new background or pictures

Device Frames
To show of your newly created widgets you probably want to share a screenshot. While you could just upload and be done with it, it certainly looks so much nice if you have the frame of your device around it. So here are some possible ways how to do this.
Device Frame Generator
DFG is an app to generate your device shoots directly on your devic, no other tools necessary. It currently supports the Nexus range, HTC One, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Motorola Xoom
Website: http://f2prateek.com/android-device-frame-generator/
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.f2prateek.dfg
Device Art Generator
If you are on a PC and own a Nexus device, you can also use this website to generate your device screen shot. Just drag and drop the picture onto the device you want and you can download the now framed screenshot instantly. This works with Firefox and Chrome and needs no installation.
https://developer.android.com/distribute/promote/device-art.html
Photoshop/GIMP
Probably the most versatile, even if not the fastest, to make your screenshots stand out is to go with an image editing software like Photoshop or GIMP. For those there is a nearly endless amount of really nice, high quality templates out there. Here is a list of some great sources:
http://www.dribble.com - Dribbble is probably one of your best sources for this. Just do a search like “<device> psd”, for example “nexus 4 psd” and you’ll find lots and lots of gorgeous templates for you to work with.
http://www.deviantart.com - If you can’t find what you are looking for on dribble, you can also try the same search on deviantart. This will probably yield more screenshots then PSDs but there ought to be some gems to discover here too.
[Devices][PSDs] Flat Designs.. Another great source is this nice collection of flat designed device PSDs for a lot of different devices from Samsung, Motorola, Sony, etc.right here on XDA by Recognized Themer DD-Ripper

Free mobile prototyping and UI mockup tool

A couple days ago I found a great online tool where you can upload your PSD files to create a prototype of your app (or website).
It's called Invision. Website link: https://www.invisionapp.com/
Get high-fidelity in under 5 minutes. Upload your design files and add animations, gestures, and transitions to transform your static screens into clickable, interactive prototypes.
I really recommend this if you work with customers!
It's good, i've already tried it. But it's not very comfortable to create mocups on your phone, that's why i prefer another designers toolbox.
I like about easy way to make beautiful UI
I tend to just mock stuff up in Fireworks, it's just such a friendly little drawing tool. Yeah I know, it's a bit low tech but it works for me.
thanks for the thread

The new Box Faces app with watch faces and coupons from all developers!

Hello! I am a developer of CHESTER WATCH FACE, I made a new application to bring all the developers and users of the watch faces in one place, so that everyone is comfortable and useful. The features of this application are that everything has been done there for your convenience, both for developers and users.
Features:
1. The application has several sections, such as: all watch faces, paid, free, and which are distributed by coupons - this makes it easier for the user to find a suitable watch face.
2. The application has a built-in coupon generator, which can be used by every developer and user. Also, it is very convenient for users, no longer have to scroll through a large list with coupons in search of your country and sort through coupons in search of unused. Also, for the convenience of developers, it is made so that you do not have to edit your file with coupons before downloading. You upload the coupon file from the Samsung seller’s portal and can immediately upload it to the coupon generator on boxfaces.com so that users can easily take these coupons in the application, in the coupon generator.
3. The application has built-in dynamic links, which means that it is possible to share watch faces. If you sent a link to the watch face to users, then the user, clicking on it, will go to the page in the application of this watch face and where the user can easily take a coupon for it and go to GalaxyStore to use it and download the watch face. If the user does not have the application installed and clicks on the link, the link will transfer him to the Google Play page and ask him to install this application. It is very convenient for developers to distribute their work and for users to share their favorite watch face with other users.
5. Adding watch faces takes place via https://boxfaces.com. The site is made specifically for developers, everything is simple and clear.
6. The application will be constantly updated and new features will be added. For example, there are plans to create a separate section for developers, where users can choose their own watch face for developers, this will increase downloads for the developer and simplify the search for the desired watch face for the user. It is also planned to make a section with video reviews of watch faces from the Jibber Jab Review - I think this is also very convenient. In general, I still have a lot of ideas and I will try to implement them as soon as possible ...
I will be very glad to see the new dials of the developers, and new users in the application!
Now the application is already available in the Galaxy Store, for Samsung phones at the link: http://apps.samsung.com/appquery/appDetail.as?appId=com.my.boxfaces
Google Play Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.my.boxfaces
All absolutely free! Everything is done for your convenience!
Friends, hello everyone! A new update for Box Faces is out!
The new release adds:
1. The application is released in 5 languages: English, Russian, German, Spanish, French.
2. Removed "CHESTER WATCH FACES" button in the main menu.
3. Added section "DEVELOPERS", which includes all developers.
4. Added statistics for active devices. (number of active users)
5. Added the ability to add videos to watch faces.
We are waiting for all developers and users in the new version of the application! ?
