I don't use outlook and when deciding on an alternative was looking for something which would allow me to Sync with Win Mobile.
I now use Thunderbird which has e-mail, tasks and calendar ( http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderbird/ ) and have found this free programme for syncing to my device - http://www.finchsync.com/.
Easy to install and setup and works a treat.

I am using it with WM5 and the latest IMate ROM.
Couldn't get on with finchsync, everytime it said that it had updated my contacts, when clearly it hadn't... Birdiesync worked first time, was fast, and did a very sweet job of carrying out its intended task .

This has the advantage over Finchsync in that it sync automatically with activesync, but at the time of writing it does not deal with the calendar, which to me is more important.
I have never had a problem with it not updating contacts, it always works for me, and $19.95 is not worth it for just contacts.
It may be worth reconsidering if they release a calendar update that works.
I am using it with Windows Mobile 5.
how do you compare Finchsync to Outlook?

I thought I'd share this since I haven't seen any posts here regarding the Funambol plugin. I run it on my 8525 and Motorola Q. On the desktop, I run Slackware 12 Linux with Thunderbird/Lightning for my Email/Calendar client. I also run my own Funambol server. With this setup, I can sync anywhere wirelessly and not have to rely on any third party servers. If I flash a new rom, I just install the Funambol plugin on my phone, setup the URL to my server and hit Sync and I've got all my contacts & calendar entries back.
I've tested the Funambol plugin with Thunderbird/Lightning on WinXP and it works just as well. You can use public SyncML servers as well from what I've read.

Can contact pictures and Notes be synced?
The notes sync fine, the picture doesn't. I only have one picture so far (my wife) and Thunderbird's address book doesn't seem to support a picture. When I reload my rom next time ill note if the pictures sync back. edit: Nope, no pics.
Theres an Outlook plugin as well for folks that prefer Microsoft byproducts {{shiver}}

Lotus Synchro
Hi man,
I'm using Commontime's mSuite 5.
For me it's the best software in synchronisation, just only one disadvantage - cannot synchronise hand written notes.
But for more detials click on the link: http://web.commontime.com/
If you must be exposed to Lotus, as I am at work, please consider using the free Lotus to Outlook connector, which will allow you to be entirely compatible with a lotus system, but use Outlook instead.
I work in a major Lotus based office, and have to say that the connector (and Outlook) have finally made Lotus bearable, with no problems whatsoever (ie Calendar, ToDo, Notes, Email etc all work better than they did before, but are all derived from the Lotus system).
And of course, once you have Outlook, you can sync normally and easily.

I am looking for a software that is similar to MS Notes, but offers more functionality and user-friendliness. Any recommendations?
OneNote
Personally, I use OneNote Mobile
Use this http://www.evernote.com/
I'm using PhatNotes it's ok. Better font/layout control and able to organize, color-mark notes into categories etc. Maybe a bit old school but works fine on Touch HD. Not free though.

i also use Phatnotes because you can get it to sync with Outlook without losing the outlook colors. But its not a great program. I used to have a Palm Treo and there was great notes software out there.

I second that. Best notes application as notes are stored on the server and synced to the device.
I also use PhatNotes and think it is a really good program. It does everything I need it to do...far better than the stock MS notes.
Hello all... I did not see this thread around...
I am sure many of you use some software to send sms from the pc through your HTC.
I know HTC can do this through Outlook 2007 using third parties..
Is there a recent software that I can use to send sms through pc..typing them on the keyboard instead of mobile?
Nokia PC Suite does it, A software for Sagem does it as well..
HTC???

There is a known Microsoft problem (they acknowledge it, but don't pretend to be working on it) that WinMo 6.5 will not sync with Outlook 2010 64 bit through WMDC.
Does anyone know of a solution or workaround?
Thanks

Use x86 version instead. There is no longer support for WM devices or services.

Thanks a lot for the response.
You helped me on another thread also!
I'm under the impression I would have to change the entire Office Suite to x86 - is that so? I'm nervous to do anything directly to Office because I bought my laptop with it preinstalled and don't know if I can reinstall it if I have a problem.
I was wondering if there is either another program I could sync with. Also perhaps there is something online I could sync with and then sync my outlook to that.
Thanks

I'd check to see if it is installed in the C:\Program Files (x86) folder first. Occasionally it is also installed there as well for compatibility. If not, then You might want to look into other syncing solutions.
