Please help me make my QTEK 9000 faster :) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hello,
I'm a first timer here ;-) I've bought a QTEK 9000 some days ago and I've tested it a lot these last days. I'm not really satisfied
I find that it's really slow. For example when I'm surfing in Internet explorer and chatting on MSN at the same time, it takes a few seconds for answering to a friend on msn and then go back to Internet Explorer.. It's really annoying
Currently I have this version :
R 1.03.00
G 42.36.P8
D 1.13.72 FRE
Is there a better version, faster ? In french ?
I'm not against english rom if you say it will run faster As long as I can set up my french orange 3G account on it.
One more thing : It's my first PDA and I don't know how to flash a rom, make backups, ... and so on. I'm a newbie, so if you can give me a "how to" you'll be welcome
Thank you guys (and girls ;-)

dont think its a phone problem, you are internetting on gprs and using msn. gprs is a very slow link for communication like a 40 kb/s modem. when you are using umts its faster like adsl 350 kb/s
good luck

Not really
Hello,
Nope I'm connected in UMTS. The connection is not slow. It's the qtek 9000 itself.
Maybe I shall try to install last radio version ?

Install the last i-Mate Rom !

sorry, you mean the swapping is slow. i didn't read correctly
i use the imate rom and the screen rotating is much faster. for the swapping between internet and msn can't i say much.
you can always upgrade rom ad radio . in the i mate rom English is already with radio 1.09 and I think is working nice
be carefull upgrading and read the info on it
direct usb connection to the pc (no hub) remove sd card and sim card etc.
goodluck

ok I'll try to do it. I'm reading the forum. Will my connection with orange (france) still work with this english Rom ?
But I don't want to make a mistake ;-)

Save your GPRS/3G/MMS configuration

i dont think the rom is provider depended
you only have to use the right settings for YOUR provider
qtek has a tool to install the right provider but its for The Netherlands (orange is also in the list)

Hi, I couldn't help notice your rom version below for the Qtek 9000. Is it cooked? Did Qtek issue a new rom for Qtek 9000 like all the other carriers?
Best,
Gilbert

nope upgraded it with the imate rom
its here in xda forum. working better and faster then the original rom

I've upraded my qtek9000 with Radio 1.09 and Rom Jasjar 1.30.76 WWE.
I've also activated the turbo mode.
It goes really faster now !! It's like having a new pda ;-)

How will the "turbo mode" activated? Don't find it anywhere.

gprs and o2 asia 1.40 rom

hi guys, i just updated to o2 asia 1.40 rom and just have a few questions,
1 . the gprs, i had to enter these details myself, but i know they are correct, but when i connect to gprs, i seem to have a counter now on t he gprs icon on top of screen, to me this looks like a wap / pay per minute thing, can anyone confirm they have this also and taht i have not done it wrong, also that it is just a counter to say how long i have bene connected to gprs.
also i thought the o2 asia rom would have had o2 active with it... anyone have this cab file is one available??
cheers guys!!!!
joey. 8)
Hi joey,
If you want the latest O2 Craptive CAB, from the latest UK ROM, it can be found here:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/Extended_ROM_Kitchen_1_3X/Customization_Operator/O2_UK/
Just download the cab file install.arm.cab
Why bother though?! It sucks!!!!
Let me know how you get on with the Asia ROM, I was thinking of switching, but my phone is pretty stable at the moment anyway on the imate ROM.
Cheers,
Fin
Sorry, just tried that link and it doesn't work. Go to wiki, click on BA< then Ext ROM kitchen, cooked ROMS, then click on O2 UK 1.31.139 then click on the cabs link.
thanks for that, i will test it on the 1.40 rom and see if it is ok, im also going to see over the next few days, whether asia rom 1.40 runs ok with the programs that i use,
anyone else know the gprs thingy???, cos i want to use it, but dont want to be charged per minute for internet use.

o2 Exec ROM Update Required ? ? ?

I should have checked this before upgrading, but is there a XDA Exec ROM available anywhere?
Won't say any more but should have it this weekend
I presume from this, you're not keep on the imate ROM you've just flashed yours with??
If you're desperate to get back, try the cabs one by one from the O2 Extended ROM that is on the FTP

GREAT NEWS !!!
Thanks for info. I hope that it will be online on the O2 site or someone will upload the upgrade. Please, just rate it from 1 to 10 8) .
My view regard the o2 & iMate roms...
The imate seems to be more stable, I've not had the system lock...yet
Performance seems slightly better, but nothing to write home about.
The Wifi issues seem to have disappeared, not sure why, and will be monitoring this.
The ui is better, all the o2 icons have gone, just a single battery icon at the bottom of the screen.
fingery, did you manage to get hold of the o2 ROM?
What's the current O2 rom anyway? I got my exec last week and it's:
R 1.04.02
G 42.37.P8
D 1.13.48 WWE
if that means anything. I was considering putting on the jasjar rom update that's on the ftp ("if it ain't broke, muck around with it until it is") since the D number is higher, but the other two are lower so I figured I'd play my cards right and wait...
M
P.S. if there's a way of extracting these, and anyone wants them, PM me with instructions/links and I'll do it.

Qtek 9000 Shipped ROM now on FTP

MMB was kind enough to post the Qtek 9000 ROM here:
http://s5.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=12XDPY08OSB2R0PAMI3W42KE3Q
And I will be uploading it to the FTP for everyone else in case the above link expires:
/Uploads/Universal/Shipped ROM/
Even though it has the "latest" ROM date and version number, I seem to be having continuous issues with my Qtek 9000 in the fact that some of my settings refuse to stick:
I have to constantly re-pair my HS850 Bluetooth headset and my GlobalSat BT-338 GPS.
I have to occasionally associate my device to my Wi-Fi router and re-enter my WPA-PSK key.
I have since flashed my device with the JASJAR ROM and the O2 Radio ROM, and customized the JASJAR's Extended ROM to see how much better it performs.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can use this ROM with the NoID installer. Again I need to bypass the country code error generated by the .exe installer.
Or explain to me where these installers "unpack" their files to so I could try and locate them and use the NoID installer from there?
Michael
now only if we can get the english orange rom aswell....

I am currently using the Jasjar ROM / Extended Rom and the O2 Radio rom. No real issues so far. I am not sure I should try the update of the Qtek 9000 ROM looking at your comments above.
But is in Italian or English? thx
Unit only display "Serial v1.00" after Qtek ROM fl
Hi,
After attempting the Qtek ROM flash my unit now only displays "Serial v1.00" after a cold or hard reset.
I've tried to fallback to the JasJar ROM and the same thing happens.
Any assistance with this problem would be most appreciated.
Regards
Michael

Hi,
Yes it seemed that a radio only (v 1.04.02) ROM flash got the unit working again.
I did have the SIM and SD card out for several ROM flashes prior, but maybe the combo of all 3 (no SIM, no SD and radio only) was the trick.

If you have WinRAR or WinZip installed, right-click on the executable and choose Extract to [folder]...
Then you can throw in the MaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe file in the same folder and run it.
Someone also said you can add a line [CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1 in the RUU.conf file using Notepad, but I don't think it made a difference for me.
Hi,
Actually the last ROM I flashed was the JasJar so I'm back to square one, but I intend to try the QTek again in a couple of days (just need to settle the nerves a bit after the horror of owning an expensive brick for several hours).
In regards to unpacking the .exe files, I stumbled across that trick with WinRAR myself and I was a little surprised myself. That would make upgrading from other sites so much easier especially with access to the NoID installer.
I might try the NoID and the RUU.dll trick to bypass country code to see if both work (if my heart can stand the strain of more repeats of the brick event).
At the moment I've got a prepaid vodaphone SIM (here in Australia) and I'm working on setting that up. I've been advised that full mobile broadband is only available for billing customers so I'll have to wait until I can visit a shop to sign up and try that.
If anyone has the settings already for vodaphone let me know!

RADIO v1.03.00 required!!
Hi!
Can somebody extract the QTEK 9000 shipped RADIO v1.03.00 out and post here?
The reason being if after upgrading to the RADIO (from Dopod 900) v1.04.02 and finding it unsuitable later on I would like to re-flash it with the original shipped RADIO.
Thanks

Best rom for use in Brasil

I pretent to go whitin some time to Brasil for a long time as in the past I have had quite a few problems with the settings there I start to believe that it can be the best change to prevent this by loading a rom which is used bij people in Brasil, at least the problems which I made have there will be known.
Are there people from Brasil here which use the Diamond overthere if so which rom do you use, I don't mind if it is in Portuguese I can understand it perfectly.
Thanks in advanced
Willem
U can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439102
I uses Dutty´s ROM as you can see in my signature with radio .08 and have no issues here in state of Sao Paulo.
I tested radios .03,.05,.07,.08,BS14 and for me .08 its the best option.
I already used my Diamond in TIM and Oi networks.
I'm using Duttys ROM too.
Lite 2.9 one + 07 radio + 1.40 HardSPL
Everything but the camera is working nicely here.
The H and E data connections are ok too.

CreativeBR
Im from Brazil
Me and my wife are using the ark666 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439102
Very stable, fast and in portuguese, better than Diamond Project v3.3 ROM, that is in portuguese too, but kind unstable and slow.
It cames with the essentially software needed. Use the TF3D embedded to change the Touchflo3D to Brazilian Portuguese.
The only thing missed is the network setup wizard for Brazilian operators, so you have to manually configure the network settings.

This wizard for Brazilian operators is this availleble in other roms? I mean if it is then it must be possible to whitdrawl the wizard and then you can use whatever rom.
Willem
Dutty's latested roms fully detect brazillian operators.
You could try his connection setup avaliable here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=411707
at second post as downloable cab.
Give a try and report feedback.

Thank you this is what I was looking for, as soon I now or its working whitout changing my rom I will let you now.
Do you now or this connection manager works whit more HTC phones, I gave my Trinity to my daughter and she wants to use it aswell in Brasil this was the phone which gave a lot of connection problems when I was in Brasil 1 year ago.

This cab is made for Diamond. I dont think it will work in others HTC devices.
SwiftBL 7.5 ROM
Hello,
I use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408109 in Brazil. Have no problem with it. Camera, calendar, emails, everything is working fine with this ROM. It can't recognize the brazilian's operators though. I will also try the wizard from Dutty's to see if it work. I use the radio .05 and it's ok. I realy liked this ROM, but it seems that SwiftBL is no longer working with his ROM.
