BEWARE: James Zhou ([email protected])
SCAM WARNING:
Just a bit of information for 'would be' punters chating with this guy about PDA/ XDA LCD modules, displays or screens. We now him well. His mobile/cell no is +86 13510068915, but he speaks little english. His main business is counterfeit (copy) microsoft software. He has been dabbling in the PDA LCD market for about a year.He has since received a lifetime ban from eBay and PayPal from buyer compliants. and suspicous activity. As you may know that does not happen easily! He now touts his for buyers from forums, but it is not him you are talking to, only someone who translates for him. So have a think about his cheap prices before sending money to China via Western Union, or to his personal bank account.

the truth can prove I am serious businessman.

Hmm... I'm repairing PDAs in Moscow for seven years. I found James in january 2006 and received more, than 10 parcels from James Zhou, totally more, than three hundred displays and touchscreens. I'v received all ordered parts in time and good quality. Some of them were not "brand new" (I was notified at ordering stage) but refurbished, however working and usable, with new touchscreens, so "it looks like new, who cares, what's inside".
Prices are also good. I made all payments thru Western Union as a "gift" - I'v never been disappointed.
He also sells some hard to find displays, PDA2k, for example.

A man went on business to China and wanted to buy some gifts for his kids. He went to a shop and found a nice looking CD player. Wary of buying inferior goods, he asked the shopkeeper, 'What would happen if this does not work?' The shopkeeper quietly points to the only sign in English that reads, 'GUARANTEE NO SPOILT'.
Feeling assured, he paid for the CD player and returns to his hotel. He tried to use the CD player after returning to the hotel but it would not even switch on. He quickly return to the shop and asked for a refund or an exchange for another unit. When the shopkeeper refuse to give either, the man points to the sign assuring him of a guarantee. The shopkeeper then said, 'Brother, you are in China . We read from the right to the left.'

I'll fix your HTC phone or provide parts

Hey guys. I have gotten alot from this website so I would like to give back. I own and operate a mobile phone repair shop and would like to extend my services to this forum. Most of you seem pretty techical so even if you just want the part (microphone, ear speaker, Loud speaker, LCD) I will provide it for you at a low cost plus shipping of course. I mostly deal with hardware issues so please don't PM me or post asking about software, I am a total noob when it comes to that!
Thanks again to all the rom builders and contributers who have helped make my phone awsome!
If you can source the vibrate motor for an HTC S710 I would be forever grateful. Where abouts are you located?
EDIT: I see you're in Phoenix.
Most of the parts I carry are for US released HTC phones but often they carry simular parts. If you can post a picture of what it looks like I'll see if I have a match.
I will upload a picture in a little bit, however here are the specifications from the HTC Vox Service Manual for the motor;
JT0406-30CSR1, JNTECH, Cylindrical, 3V, 100mA, 12000+/-3000 rpm, 60/-, 20degC, 11.2*5.1*5.8mm
The cylinder has J7D05 printed on it and has 2 prongs that make contact to the pad on the PCB. I've tried many different other motors but none of them physically fit in the spot. So if you have any motor rated to those specs and is smaller or equal to the dimensions above, I will take it.
Here are two pictures of it. They are quite large, so not inlined. Not my camera, one of those funky digital ones that I have no idea how to adjust the focus on.

Ah yes. Thanks, I shall await your response in great excitement.
Happy Indie Day!

@pna
I had the same problem with my Dash/Excalibur. I had to turn off the USB charging feature in the settings and then the data worked fine. I just either turn it back on if I need to charge via USB on my PC and don't have a wall charger handy. Tell your friend to try that.
Edit:
Also Turn off Advanced Network Functionality to along with charging over USB.

If the pins in the socket look straight re-flow the solder on the mainboard or get someone to do it. It's fairly easy. New sockets are about $4 on fleabay but as there are multiple lines close together you do need skill to replace.

Right on! I have been wanting to replace the metal bezel that goes around the front of the AT&T 8525 (U.S. HTC Hemes). Mine has gotten quite scratched and scuffed over the last year, and I would love to have it returned to it's original clean, shiny look.
Do you happen to carry this part by any chance? Or know of an affordable place to obtain one?

Looking to sell my Lapdock -$200 O.B.O.

Hi guys, I'm selling my lapdock for the Atrix. I bought it brand new during launch day at around $300 when bundled with phone. The lapdock is in perfect condition - Never dropped, scratched or put any kinds of drinks near it.
To be honest i've only used my Lapdock for a total of around 40 hours, i was working on a Windows Conversion for the dock but since I'm a Game Designer and I'm starting to get real serious with a project, i need to let go of it and get a real Laptop...i really like this lapdock its very light and very useful (especially after what Sogarth did with his mods).
I currently see onit priced Amazon, Ebay, and a few other sites that sell it for $200 as the lowest. I'm trying to sell it for $200 if possible.
Shipping to 94607?
Sure, that's not too far.
If you both can't make a deal, i am interested to buy this as well. However would you ship internationally ?

Someone created a thread to sell a laptop he bought new and has used. People that are viewing the thread see someone else point them towards a refurbished unit from AT&T, as though to suggest it's better to go there than buy from the person who created the thread. AT&T refurbished units are a crapshot, you don't know what the previous issue was. They have no bearing on the OP's thread and is a full-on c*$kblock, if you will.
Tried PM'ing a couple of times but aint working! Will give 200 providing shipping to Melbourne Australia is not too expensive. PM me if you can
why the mods havent come in yet i dont know but this isnt the buy&sell section
OSNPA, are you suggesting that it would be better to keep an unwitting Atrix user in the dark, letting him or her purchase a used lapdock for around $35 more than the cost of an "officially" used lapdock, just so the seller will not be offended?
It's called market competition. An informed consumer living in the U. S. with the opportunity to purchase a refurbished dock from ATT would never pay more and wait longer for one unless he or she were doing the seller a favor.
To put it simply, if the seller intends to sell this dock to an ATT customer, he or she will have to lower the price or take advantage of someone's ignorance. In my opinion, it would be bad form to keep a consumer in the dark and just sit back and snicker as you watch a transaction (or in this case, a rip off) transpire. But hey, at least the seller didn't get his feelings hurt AND he made more than what he should have.
Fortunately for the seller, not everyone has access to a refurbished lapdock, specifically our friends overseas, and $200 is quite a bargain in that market. I think everyone has a chance to win in this situation, and to me, it seems like bad form to try and prevent this ideal scenario -- one in which no one feels cheated.
I don't mean to attack you, OSNPA, but I'm trying to understand what you have to gain by trying to foster a market on these forums in which the lapdock is kept at an artificially high price. Are you trying to sell one yourself? Anything to help me understand where you're coming from would be much appreciated.
To the seller, I think you will have no problem selling the dock for $200. (I would not have started so low.)
To anyone who does not have access to a refurbished lapdock, this price is almost impossible to beat.

That's actually not true. Refurbished is anything that has been brought back to factory specifications and tested to be working. Yes, some of these are broken units that have been repaired, but MANY others are just returned within the 30-day return period, especially for a once $400+ item like the lapdock. Mine also looks like its from the assembly line. More knowledge here: http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/buy-refurbished-phones.jsp
I'm sure yours looks great though so happy selling!

Well, if customers are uninformed on the price of refurbished lapdocks when there's a thread dedicated to it in this very sub-forum, well I have no pity for them. It's a consumer's responsibility to educate themselves. He's not selling a refubished unit, it is not the same situation, so the prices should have no bearing on what the OP asks. Regardless of whether money is involved, think of it this way: a developer releases a ROM and the 1st response to that thread is another developer saying that he also released a ROM and go to this other thread to read all about it. You may like that idea, I don't know, to me it's a wtf moment.

Disclaimers: I don't know anyone in this thread, I am not selling or buying a lapdock, no animals were harmed in the making of this post, and I am not responsible for you bricking your phone. [BEWARE] 'Genuine' Samsung pouch/case on ebay (seller: cheapgadget) UPDATED 18-9-11

Just received one of these from this seller on eBay. On the face of it, they look like nice little slip cases with the added benefit of being genuine Samsung (according to the auction title).
However, upon opening the case, I decided to return to the seller; these are the reasons I sent to him via eBay messaging:
Major_Sarcasm on 10 Sep said:
Hi,
I'm sorry, but I'd like to return this case for the following reasons:
1. The hole cut out for the speaker is in completely the wrong place for this phone. Even if you put the phone in upside down, it's the wrong side! The hole doesn't correspond to any other piece of equipment on the device.
2. You state that the case is "Genuine Samsung" in the auction title and state the "Brand" as Samsung also. All the Samsung products that I've bought in the past have at least a card backer with the 'genuine' logo on it and a part number.
3. The auction title states that the case is made of Leather. Then in the auction text, it states 'faux leather'. It can't be both. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the 'faux leather' text or I wouldn't have bought the product.
Regards, Steve

As you can see, the speaker on the S2 is at the bottom and the hole on the case is at the other end. Without mentioning the other things that I detailed in my previous message, I didn’t put the phone in the case because I don’t think it will fit at all well and indeed will likely stretch the case. It’s also not long enough and the phone will stick out the top. I know this because the case that I have currently is damn near the same length and my phone sticks out the top of that (the reason that I was replacing it!)
This case clearly isn’t for a Galaxy S2. The picture of a dog you can see on the back of my phone is a thin sticker and adds no measurable bulk to the device.

Hi *eBay id withheld*,
We’re sorry to hear about the problem. You have received the correct item. We got our stock from local supplier and they said the item is genuine. We have sold many of these and there is no problem so far. May we know is the case fits to your device.
Thanks

I'm like, what? Did you even look at the pics. This case is obviously not for the SGS2. So, I sent an email back this morning:

No, it doesn’t fit the device. The speaker hole is at the wrong end. I will be returning it for refund as you’ve already approved the return on ebay. The photos were a courtesy.

I have now completed the eBay returns procedure and will be posting later today. I will update the thread if I ever get a refund. Also, I'm gonna link to this thread in the negative feedback that I give the seller
I've also just noticed that the cheeky sod has updated the auction text to include a note about the hole. See the pics below. His description of the hole is just laughable.
Edit: My amusing communications with cheap gadget are continued in post 14
Based on the position of the speaker hole, I think it's a case for the Glaxy S. The seller is just being a cheapskate and try to sell them for S2 owner
Hopefully, I'll get my money back.
Big update to OP. LOL.
Funny how "hanging accessories" is more important than hearing your fone ringing, since it's a fone after all. Smart ass
Ps: seems like your fone has the pink spot camera problem. Try downloading the camera firmware updater from samsung apps. Can't help but to notice

Always very cautious buying on eBay it's a haven for fakes/scammers and cheap items passed off as being genuine.

Wife's phone actually. My phone is in the pics. Taking pics of my phone with my phone would've been clever indeed.
Her phone is completely stock and I'm not allowed to touch it ;-)

Nah you don't need to be clever, you can achieve this simply by bending time.
This is where I've been going wrong. I updated her SGS2's camera firmware last night. All I have to do now is retrospectively apply the pink fix to the photos above. Anyone have a spare chrono-bending appliance handy?
you know what? i have bought the same thing....it is obviously made for sgs1. i gave them negative feedback and i told them i won't send them back the case because i have no time to go to the post office. they fully refunded me and asked me to change the feedback. so i've got the money back and i forced the case with an object to make the phone fit. i think it is one of the best looking cases although it is not a genuine s2 case. could somebody post ebay links to original sgs2 cases looking like this?
They've agreed to refund me. I've returned the case.

argh, how frustrating. i use a 'sock' for my phone, its nice as I can quickly wipe my screen when putting it in or taking it out...(i hate fingerprints)
Indeed. I never put my phone in the case that I have at the moment unless the screen is clean. My reasoning is that if it has grease on it when it goes in, it'll accumulate in the case lining. Yuck.

Bear in mind that the item, according to Royal Mail, had been delivered and signed for the day before (Tues 13/08 at 08:40)! By Saturday, I got cheesed off waiting and sent the following message via ebay:

I don't think so! Account department?! I'm betting this is a two-man-band in a back room in a domestic semi-detached house somewhere

The package was signed for as arrived FIVE DAYS ago. You've had plenty of time to address the refund. I will happily provide positive feedback when you stop stalling and process the refund. If you don't, I'll leave negative feedback and complain to ebay about your trading practices.

All this pissing about over a £7.50 phone case! Still, it's the principle of the thing...

And indeed, I have had a refund and ebay has closed the case. Now I have a dilemma; Do I leave negative feedback and link to this thread for the world to see or give them neutral feedback and do the same or do as they ask and leave positive?
To be honest, I want to leave negative or neutral just because they've pissed me about so much over a case that's clearly not for the phone it's advertised as being for, made me wait nearly a week for a refund and I had to hassle them for it too.
Thoughts, oh wise XDA users?
Neutral.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
