Extended Rom Partition - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Have deleted cabs I do not like in my extended rom and would like to decrease the size of my extended rom. When I do this with the repartiitioning tools (to 9mb) I get an error message and it deletes all my cabs in the extended rom.
Once i deleted all the cabs i do not want i have 7.9 mb in use in my extend rom. Hence changing the size of the extended rom from 16mb to 9 mb should not cause a problem? Any help would be appreciated!

Big Storage for Artemis?

Hi guys,
I was wondering..... can we delete the content of the extended rom and use it as extra storage space like the xda mini?
There is a trick to get extra ~10MB via registry hack on Extended_ROM2.
Do a search on this forum to find that post, as I found it here.
This is not possible, with the Unlock Tools you can only view the files, but the extended rom is protected. You can test it!!!
(Sorry for my bad english)
There are no tools to unlock the artemis external rom at the moment - if you mess with it with the reg edits and tools on the forum you risk loosing the contents of the external rom or the whole external rom may become corrupt so needing a reflash - so beware. On my inspection of the external rom i believe its only 2mb (i may be wrong) in the orbit not sure about the other models so not much to gain anyhow.
it is bigger than 2mb, because the German O2 Extenden Rom (you can find it in ftp) is 4,6mb.
i belive its 7-10mb
only 7 to 10 mb? i cant believe they loaded loaded 20 plus mb of sh*# on the mini with less storage.
Hello!
From what I assume the Ext_ROM is about 16 Mb. When you look in Settings -> System -> Memory on the left side it shows Total 48 Mb (Datastorage? mine is german!). So its likely the entire storage is 64 Mb, ~48 Mb Data and ~16 Mb Ext_ROM.
On the T-Mobile MDA the extended rom is less than 2mb of which only 400k is used.

Delete BepeRom the unneedet old ExtRom?

hi,
i've a general question about bepe's rom:
since v0.70 the bepe rom don't need an extension rom.
----
Build 0.70 - Bug check build
* For the new version the extended ROM is not used anymore
---
do the flash-process from bepe delete the unneeded old one? if not, how can i do this?

Doesn't the Bepe Rom have large storage where the extended rom is merged into the main rom?
old roms, like a hard driver, have a C:\ ,at the same time have a smaller D:\ which we called extended_rom, this devided your space into 2 parts.
new roms, like bepe's, have only a C:\ !!!
No D:\ anymore, How can you delete something not exist?

Maybe the ext. rom from my previous htc wm5 rom..
if i install a new system on C:\ all data on D:\ in general keep alive..
no? i'm mistaken?

No.. the new Roms have 1 large Disk, the old rom split the same space over the main rom and the extended rom..
If you install the old rom then you will get a extended rom but the main rom will be about 10meg down...
The new larger roms are better as they are usable without having to tweak them.

the rom is not like "a new system" on c:\
it is a control of all your space.
yes, may be the extended rom data will still be there after you flash a new rom, you may even recover some files of it by special tools, but at the boot part of your storage , no index for the extended rom any more, means the data there is marked as useless, and other data will sooner or later cover it. the same as it is not exist.
please dont worry about that, most smart person working on it, they won't make sillly mistake.

Italian original Rom -Tomtom

After installing the original WM6 Ita Rom, I had only 5 Mb left of storage space, so I decided to strip Tomtom from the extended Rom and having the install files on sd, this is the results after installing Htc Home and other programs:
Archiviazione Programmi
Totale: 45.71 Mb Totale: 47.90 Mb
In uso: 19.77 Mb In uso: 25.64 Mb
Disp: 25.94 Mb Disp: 22.26 Mb
I prefer to Use the original Rom since is very stable, and radio is optimized for Italian overcrowded networks.
Here are the files: Rom & Tomtom Install for sd

Thanks to Dutty for NBH tool
and Dark Simpson for htc Rom Tool
and to this wonderful forum
Thanks orsom...useful version
Tested and working like a charm
Your idea is good, but why don't remove totally Extended_ROM???
My rom is build starting from original HTC, removing Ext_Rom and upgrading something, but it's ever the original rom (stabile and fast)
Removing Ext_Rom storage comes to 53-55MB total and 50-52MB free...

Hi cesconoa, is just another way, then (hint of infido) shift navigator folder from main memory to sd, and edit its shortcut properties

Poor program memory using BEPE's ROM version 0.97 Premium GER

before i begin, i would like to know from us, how many program memory's left in our devices?
I have the last Bepe's ROM (0.97 Premium) installed, and some small programs on the intern main memory, they don't really use so much space and i don't think they are the reason of my memory lack, my program memory shows only 22,1 MB memory free, what about your own values...?
What can be the reason for having so a memory problem
I have noticed that most of the ROM developers don't include detailed information about the memory use of their ROMs.
usual values:
after a restart: 37 MB
by using TF3D: 28,86 MB
by using TF3D and some programs: 22 MB
Since you have the Diamond with 4Gb of Internal Memory, why not use it to install the programs?
The speed difference is barely noticiable and you will get more out of the machine memory.
Nevertheless make sure that you are not running some programs in the background. Try to make a soft reset and check how much memory you have immediately after the restart of the mobile. This is the maximum memory you will have.

the 2 Programs installed on the main memory are not bigger that 900 Kb, it could not be that problem how i've said it before. After 2 restarts i obtained 37 MB, but i mean is still to slow....!!!!
Any ideas, about what can i do without to reflash again my device..??

Are you running TouchFlo3D?
This is what is in Bepe's description of his Rom. As you can see without TouchFlo3D you have "only" 64Mb, since TouchFlo3D takes around 25Mb, this goes to the 37Mb you have.
Code:
# Premium Edition boot up memory
* RAM: 64.28 MB
* Storage: 115.92 MB
That is without activating TouchFLO 3D
My suggestion, try another Rom, Dutty's V1.5 is great, or check if Bepe has a more recent one.

I'm running TF3D but the memory values never arrive the 40 MB, just 37 MB by the restart, but it drops immediately to 26 MB when i scroll around the TF3D surface.
Actually I'm using BEPE's ROM because he released a GER version of the ROM, i was thinking to try with an original HTC ROM, but I'm not sure if i do it by now (reason time)
he say that , if you want to free some memory, you need to DESACTIVATE COMPLETELY TouchFlo3D ... without that, you can't have more free memory available.
hey guys...
I use BEPE's ROM version 0.97 Premium GER, too.
I've got no Problems with memory since flashing...
My Diamond runs now for a few hours, TF3D, ActiveSync and little tools are running and i received some mails and worked with it.
I've got TT7 and some little tools on "my device" installed.
After scrolling trought all Tabs of TF3D I already have...
78mb free file storage (Datenspeicher) of 122,91mb
41,84mb free ram (Programmspeicher) of 111,36mb
Everything runs fine and much better than the original old O² ROM
Jason
on swiftbl 5.0 rom I have 57meg free, ver nice, fast rom
if u have also tweaked your device that will also cost you memory data. If u tweaked the file cache and also other tweaks that are above 2 MB you have to add them also with the totaal used memory because the tweak uses the program memory so therfore always concider that in mind and also any tweak with cahe files !!
