Hello Experts
I have upgraded to the new i-mate ROM and I have lost Voice Speed Dial. Well, actually the program is still there, just the shortcuts are missing. There is a shortcut I copied out of \Windows and I can start it using the hardware button. But both start it in listing mode only.
Now I need to start it in settings mode to record voice tags. Normally, there is a shortcut in Start\Settings, which starts it in settings mode that allows the recording of voice tags. So, I can get it to listen, but I can't record voice tags for it to find.
Does anybody have an idea on how to get into the settings mode?
Any help is much appreciated!
Many thanks
Magxs
There's in the windows folder. The file name is sddialer.exe.You can make a Voice Speed Dial.lnk file and put into the Windows\StartMenu\Programs dir.

i noticed it was missing, happened to press the speed dial hardware button and it did the start menu shortcut for me, quite wierd but hey
Thanks for your input!
Today, I found the solution. I was looking through the cab files in the Extended ROM and stumbled across the cab with the longest name (Default_MP-Shortcut-MMS1-JAVA5XX-Voice_B510191_R1+CPL-CV+UAProfile_MMSAutoDisconnect-CDL-WWE-060217.cab). Since it has the words shortcut and Voice in it, I got suspicious and installed it. After a softreset, the shortcut in settings was there! Problem solved.
I just don't understand why the program itself is installed in the ROM, but the shortcuts to it are installed through the Extended ROM. Doesn't make sense....???

Hi,
I just erased by mistake the Comm Manager from the Launch Tray. I´m trying to add it again but Comm Manager does not appear in the program list. Can anyone help me? My ROM is Faman 4.02 Spanish
Many thanks in advance
same
same here, I deleted it and can't put it back the original.
You still can put back the link but not the same icon anymore
How can I put back the link?
I apologize for my ignorance. Thanks.
Hi,
the list in the Home will offer you all those applications which are displayed unter Programs. You need to create a shortcut for CommManager.exe under /windows/startmenu/programs (or your localized version)
Launch Tray: I'm not familiar with a MS component of WM6 or WM5 called launch Tray. Do you mean the today screen? If so check in settings - today - items - and check the Wireless if it exists there.
Not sure what Lost_in_translation means by home. HTC Home? The launcher from HTC home is so easy to use I cannot imagine that anyone would not know how to use that to add an application.
Finally if you mean the funny round icon next to battery, screen orientation etc - you need to make changes in the registry. Find out what the today screen item is called - then search here: http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all
for thread that will give precise details.
Hi,
just created the shortcut in the Programs folder that allowed me to add Comm Manager to the Launch Tray. By the way, with the original icon.
Many thanks
Hey guys,
quick question here,
i put S2U2 on to my gf's phone and she is complaining that when she "slides to unlock" the cube jumps up as well, since it recognises the left to right gesture.
apart from giving her the back hand and sending her back to the kitchen, how can the problem be solved? apart from disabling cube/the left to right gesture (which is the solution as more complaints from woman occurs)
thanks in advance
jason
add s2u2 to the touchflo disable program list in the config file or install schaps touchflo config program and use that to set it in the disabled list.
thanks for that brillent suggestion.
one question, i go in to FTouchFlo Config, and go to exclusions but cant seem to find a button to click to allow me to add s2u2 to the list.
thanks in advance
jason

hello... i'm a proud owner of a touch HD but i can find this config.txt anywhere some help is SUPER apriciated.....
Hi guys-
this is really a great forum - thanks for the great work! Excellent help for a TP2 newbie.
Touch Pro2 impressions: I just upgraded (vzw) from my ancient (and yet incredibly reliable) Motorola Q, and this thing is truly awesome. I used a Touch Pro almost a year ago, and returned it because it felt sluggish and a bit buggy. I think the 2 is a major improvement. Very responsive, great phone and speakerphone, great wifi and bluetooth and gps, great keyboard (but no tab key?), better battery, surprisingly inexpensive.
Questions that I couldn't find answers to in previous threads:
1. Reminders: I see that the calendar reminders do not allow any option for changing the snooze time - it is just 5 minutes. Weird, as my WinMo 5 Q would let me choose a range of time, from 5 minutes up to a week, as I recall. This is disappointing. But even more disappointing is that when it is attached via usb to my pc, synched, and a reminder pops up in Outlook (2003), I can snooze on the PC, but that snooze does not synch with the TP2. Any ideas or suggestions? This is actually very frustrating.
2. Calendar: I have seen screen shots of the day view that has weather, even for future dates. I don't have that - anyone know how to enable?
thanks in advance for any help!
This worked for me to get the snooze options back:
Start a registry editor and navigate to key:
HKLM/System/Shell/Notification/OEM
Change the value of CustomUIDLL from NotificationLayout.dll to NotificationLayoutNew.dll
Just add New, it won't find that .dll and starts the old interface, with the snooze option.
Don't forget, after the registry change, turn the TP2 off and back on to activate.
Regarding your question about the weather forcast in the calendar day-view, you need to set your city in the World Clock screen (ie, tap the large clock on the Home tab).
There's a great hack (cRaCKwHoRe's Snooze Options) which gives you the snooze options back.
Also worth looking at are "InboxExtender", (allow read all, delete al options) and "Smaberg X1 Powerbutton 12 icons actionscreen" (12 options on holding the power button down)
You guys rule!
@itm - reg fix works great - thanks
@ohyeahar - that's it, thanks
@en_croute - I will try it as soon as i get some time, sounds useful, thanks

I just noticed that the current weather is not shown for me either.
I do have a city selected. In the "day" view on the calendar is just shows the single appointment I have. If I change to yesterday. I do see a weather picture. I went to the TF3D weather tab.. it was initially blank.. it updated and showed the current weather. I went back to the calendar view.. still nothing for "today". Only yesterday. Any ideas?
What is a good registry editor?
Never used one before and I need to find one so I can get my battery icon back after doing Battlevel.cab .

PHM_Regedit or Total Commander are the two most recommended ones here.
PHM is a little easier to navigate/use (mostly due to visual elements), but Total Commander also has a full set of file-explorer functions that PHM does not. Both are free.
Thank you so much sirphunkee. I was beginning to think nobody talked to newbies on this forum. I'll definetly be looking both of these up.
Okay I looked at both of them and downloaded the PHM_Regedit. Now I can't figure out if I should use MyMobiler to drag the Zipped cab file over or if I should unzip it first? When I unzipped it it did not look like a cab file. Does this work on a Sprint phone? Some of the cabs don't work on a Sprint phone. I'd hate to do another hard reset to get it to work like it is.

Hey there, no problem...we were all new here at one point, and asking the same types of questions
I'm not sure what source you downloaded it from, so I'm not entirely sure how it might have been packaged, but I would have guessed it should have just been a regular .cab file inside of a .zip. Either way, you can just download and use the cab I've attached here, I can confirm this one works just fine.
You can use MyMobiler to drag the cab over to your phone (it drops it in your "my documents" folder by default), and it will start the install automatically for you. Once you have it installed, you'll just find the icon to run it in your regular list of programs. And yes, it will work just fine on the CDMA (Sprint/Verizon) versions of the TP2...it's specific to what type of processor your phone has, not what type of radio.
Now, if you're not entirely familiar with registry editing, it's a good idea to read up on it a bit...it's very simple to do, but also very simple to create issues by doing the wrong thing. Also, it's always a good idea to create a backup of your registry (PHM can do that for you, just store it the backup on your SD card for safe keeping), in case anything goes wrong, you can just revert back to the working version
Sorry if this is the wrong thread.
MSVC is pretty useful but mapping a long key press can be annoying. Especially with the quick links now available in the new manila.
But there doesnt seem to be a way to add the msvc exe. Does anyone know if it's possible?
Using file explorer, go to your program files folder and open the ms voice command folder. Copy the .exe file. Now go to to windows, start menu, programs, and paste a shortcut there. I suggest renaming it and taking shortcut out of the title so it looks better. It will now be available for you to choice when mapping the phone key, or what I have done was add it to one of my top home tab shortcuts so it is easily available.
Hey thanks for that!
Wasnt even sure if it was possible but it works! finally, voice commands the easy way!
cheers.
EDIT: actually, just one more question... does anyone know if it's possible to have mp3s open in the manila music player when opened via MSVC rather than opening in media player.
Hi, new user here, thanks for a great forum.
I just got my HTC Hero and i am loving it. The only thing i am missing very much is a working application for renaming shortcuts. If you add a shortcut to a person "James", default action create message, it shows on the desktop as "Send to J...", which would be great to be able to change.
I have tried both Anycut and Bettercut but none of these work on my phone. I am currently using Modaco 2.5 Core, but i haven't been able to make any of th apps work with the generic european 2.73 rom either - the icons i create do not show up, the Edit button shows no shortcuts to edit, and the apps crash.
Question is then,
1) do anybody have any idea where shortcuts are stored in the filesystem, and how they are represented, data wise? I created a new shortcut and then copied all .db and .xml files to the pc and started looking for it with a sqlite client and file search I but couldn't find anything there. (lol, hey, had to try something
2) do anybody know a combination of a custom rom and a shortcut management application that work together on the HTC Hero?
3) do anybody have any pointers to how to manipulate the shortcuts through java code/api?
Thank you in advance. Hope to be contributing to the forum, im truly fascinated with this thing ! Truly a great gadget.
Best regards
