problems after changing the rom from T+Mobile to Imate+JasJa - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Guys, the about 2 months ago i changed the T-Mobile Rom to Imate Rom. it wroked well, but lately, wen i start any program, the device keeps restarting. Can you suggest me anything.
I am thinking about changing the Imate rom to a Qtek or to a O2 Rom. If you support my idea, can you please give me the links where is described how to do that.
Thank you

Hi dimushor,
if it is 2 months since your change from T-Mobile to iMate, I guess that iMate is not the reason for your problems, instead something what was done with the device in the meantime. I do not think that changing to any other ROM might solve the problem, I think a hard-reset will do the trick just as well.
If You want to change to another ROM, just use the way You did when changing to iMate in the first place.
What ROM is best is discussed here a lot, guess You can try the new iMate, it should be really faster.

to upgrade to Rom 1.72 or not?? (Hard Reset Issue)

Hi there,
I worked for a company who bought over 20 i-mate with ROM 1.66.
Unfortunately, we had about 5 devices which suffer from Hard-Reset few times each.
I read somewhere that the solution might be an upgrade to Rom 1.72
cuase the Hard Reset is a known issue of the 1.66..
I'm going to upgrade them devices soon, but would like you to device me
if the new Rom actually solve the Hard-Reset issue or not?
Thanks in advanced,

hi
bin using 172 for about 3 weeks and no problems here
thanks for your answer.
but, just one more quick question:
have you ever suffer from the Hard Reset issue
before the upgrade?
Are you familiar with the issue?

rom 1.66 problem
my o2 xda2 used to have 1.66 rom. hard reset occurred to me like every day. i installed it back, then it would freeze, then hard reset itself. it happened 5 times. then i upgraded to 1.72 i-mate rom. it's bn 2 weeks, no problem so far.
hi again
never had the hard reset problem
as soon as i got my xda2 upgraded it to the orange 166 rom then when the imate one came out upgraded to that one.
hope it helps
Since I read a lot about radio and bluetooth improvements in rom 1.72, I would like to upgrade my T-Mobile MDA II (rom 1.60.00 wwe) too.
But I would also like to keep the 'special' T-Mobile application (as far as I know those are in extended rom).
Is it possible to use the only the radio and rom from for example the imate or qtek 1.72 rom and use the 1.60.36 extended rom included in the latest T-Mobile rom published?
(I know I will have to edit country codes and all, the question is just to know wheter or not putting together such a set will succeed)
Which 1.72 rom would be best: The Qtek one (released today) or the imate one?
:?:
My friend bought a brand new i-mate loaded with the 1.66 ROM and bootloader 1.06
He was suffering from the frequent Hard rest alot.
He tried upgrading to the latest 1.72 ROM but that didn't solve any problems. And the device seem to still go through frequent Hard Reset.
I am guessing this has something to do with the bootloader's version?
So my question is..
Is there anyone with the same bootloader's version (1.06) and same ROM version (1.66 or 1.72) also that have no Hard reset problems? :?
Thanks

1.40 ROM for XDAIIs

Does anybody have a copy that I can have which involves not messing with and that I can flash to my XDAIIs with no country error and no o2 stuff on it so it looks like the i-mate :?:

Dude do what this say's.
I've just done it: UK XDA IIs, on Orange network, running i-mate 1.40 ROM.
Slightly going OT...
I am quite keen to do the upgrade from my standard O2 XDA2s 1.31.00 WWE ROM, but I am a little unsure on what 1.40 ROM to download from WIKI. I think I need:
i-mate 1.40.176
I know my device is a Blue Angel, Rom as above, extended ROM as 1.31.139 WWE
Can anyone confirm the correct download please?
Also, has anyone had any problems installing on XDA's the same as mine?
I have read the install tutorial, but would like to get an idea of if I am going to run into problems.
Oh, one more thing... What advantage does ROM 1.40 have over my existing ROM apart from bug fixes (oh please! daily lockups!!!)?
Many, many thanks.
O2 XDAIIs Upgrade
I used the i-mate 1.40.176 upgrade for my O2 XDAIIs. All in all its pretty stable, with only the Bluetooth stability (memory issues and BT Manager & Settings "disappearing") as the main issue. Much better than the O2 1.31 ROM (will they ever get that 1.40 update out...!?) You will need to use the "MAUpgrade" rather than "BAUpgrade" utility, as the 1.40.176 ROM was built for the i-mate rather than the xda2s.
One problem I did have with this ROM at the start, was that GPRS would not stay connected. This seems to be a sporadic problem among those that upgrade, but if you experience it after upgrading to this ROM, you can correct the problem by replacing the "CallerID" cab in the extended ROM with the older version (1.17) This version of the file is available on wiki also. This will involved unhiding and unlocking the Extended ROM and replacing the file. Look at the wiki instructions under Blue Angel for "Cooking Your First Extended ROM" That said, you may not experience this problem, so upgrade the ROM first and see how it goes.
All in all a much better ROM. I am trying the new O2 Asia WWE ROM with a modified extended ROM and this is also pretty good. Slighty better Wi Fi switch on and off in my opinion. This one is on wiki also, but you will probably need to "cook" the extended ROM here a bit more than the 1.40.176 version.
Hope this helps
Chris
Anybody tried the imate 1.40 rom on O2 XDA IIs purchased from Singapore?
I am facing problems to using any 'Today Plug-ins' like IP Dashboard, O2 Plus beta, Lexisgoo English dictionary etc. The problem is after say 30 minutes or after more, my keyboard input will only be selectable, cannot select CE-Star chinese keyboard or Intellipad.
What do I have on my O2 XDA IIs?
1. CE-Star
2. Intellipad and Intellidialler
3. Lexisgoo English dictionary
4. SKTools
5. Sprite backup standard
6. Cal89A calculator
7. MDict 1.21
and many more.
Please help anyone.
Thanks.
my exerience with this device and all the ROMS has been that the fewer Today plugins you have the better. SPB Pocket Plus V2.5 caused a lot of lock ups. Not sure about new version 3.0 Seems multiple Today plug ins cause conflicts. Hard to pinpoint all the interactions and what affects what... Not much help I am afraid :-[ I would just try to keep them to a minimum.
Regards
chris
You said it man!
I'm down to zero 'Today Plug-ins' now and it seems to keep my IIs from needing to 'soft reset'.
Any others from Singapore who had used the Imate 1.40 rom?
Two major problems that I am facing with 1.40 ROM include:
1. wifi can't be connected after disconnecting GPRS.
2. bluetooth problem (memory error) or storage card disappear after disconnecting BT.
Anybody experience these?
Cheers,

I had used the Imate rom before but, there has been many casses of terrible lag. When i updated to 1.40 and radio to 1.13 wooo... just very very fast...
Installing the latest Pocketplus with my 1.40 ROM makes my device hard-reset itself.
I need a way of getting IE to be able to save pictures. Anyone know of an alternative way to do this?
I have no problem with pocketplus 3.0.
Which version you are using?
1.40 ROM has serius today screen problems with me too (That's why I still use 1.31).

Imate JJ ROM on O2 Xda Exec

I recently upgraded my O2 Xda Exec with the imate JJ rom (ROM Version: 1.30.82 WWE). But after a hard reset, I keep getting the following error:
Code:
Can not run on this device.
Upon investigating, I have discovered that the pocket arabizer cabs are installed during the customization after a hard reset. The similar rom (and the mentioned cabs) are working flawlessly on my other universal (imate jasjar) but on my O2, i keep getting the above error (i.e. can not run on this device). Is there a way to get the arabizer cabs to working nicely with my O2? Help in this regard would be appreciated.
help, please help. just say something. just kiddin'
hopefully, someone will come along and offer some valuable help.
T-Mobile is doing the same thing
My T-Mobile MDA Pro is doing the sme thing, it must be a way to tell the ROM that my T-Mobile is a JasJar...and I have used the "no_ID" and it did not work...
HELP
The imate roms (dont know if only from the Jasjar) have something builtin (don't know if cab file in extrom or in the rom itself) that only allows installation on imate jasjars. I think its some sort of list or program which checks the imei.
My observations so far are:
1. I have tried a custom extended rom, specially designed to avoid any cabs that might check the imei. This meant using a custom config file and autorun file from O2.
2. Only IMEI checking cab I have found so far is the 'Default_CAAVPPC_IMEI_2.6.80_range.cab' -- it is CA Antivirus software. I think it checks the IMEI.
3. I have tried with certain telco provided cabs (e.g. Mobily, Etisalat_UAE, etc.), to see if this works. It doesn't.
4. What does Install_tsk.exe do?
5. I have tried with different rom, but extended rom from imate JJ, but that doesn't work either.
6. Is there a way to fix this problem? I have seen this problem with several other people in this forum, but no concrete solution is found yet.
7. Can somebody else confirm that, indeed there is some IMEI checking in the imate roms?
8. being able to use the imate JJ roms on O2 indicates that there is no IMEI checking in the ROM itself.
9. Help is desparetly needed.

JasJar on T-Mobile
I have tried everything since I got my T-Mobile and I installed like 100 ROMs trying to make my T-Mobile MDA Pro thinks that it is a JasJar...but no luck...
I have installed the WWE JasJar with no problem, I think the problem is installing the ME version with Arabizer and the AntiVirus software...and yes it does check the IMEI number...
My T-Mobile now officially an O2 but it seems like it refused to think that it is a localized version of the iMate JasJar.
Is there a way that makes my T-Mobile thinks it is a JasJar????
this seems to be an issue with a lot of people. can we have some experts to help us out?
IT CAN NOT BE DONE...SORRY

I think that the "Arabizer" developers had locked in the software to work only on the iMates...with specific IMEI numbers, I have installed the WWE ROM on my T-Mobile and it works fine but when I install the ME ROM it does not work...

Upgrading my X51v to WM6 but with the possibility to get back to WM5

Hello everyone,
sorry for posting this noob questions here, I see that you all are discussing software development and stuff, but it is the only place I've found to ask about it.
My situation: I have a Dell Axim X51v wich is still on warranty and CompleteCare (until march 2009!). It has a WM5 A04 Portuguese Rom wich is very unstable and quite lame (I don't like the system in portuguese!) and I'm looking forward to use the WM6 Football Rom, that everywhere I read says its very nice.
The fact is: If I had to call Dell for support, I'll need to give them the Ax with the WM5 Portuguese rom. I really consider this since the device isn't brand new and if something happens I don't want to loose it.
So, what I need to know is how (and if it is possible of course) to get the image of my Ax as it is now, to store in a safe copy on my pc or a cd, upgrade to Football's WM6 (wich version, btw? I see that there are RTM and Preview A06 on the thread) and then eventually get it back to my current rom, if I need to use the warranty. I know that the upgrade part is well documented around the internet, but the downgrade to the same or similar system is the major doubt.
I'll be grateful for any help. I'm new to all this and there are lots of knowledge around. Never had any experience flashing, just upgraded my ROM one time with the official procedure from HP, on my old Ipaq.
Thanks!!
I do not recommand to install the new file because they will broke dell warranty (I know you still come back to A12 rom but for potugal rom I don't know.
Well, I guess since you can flash a different language ROM of a different OS you could turn back to the other... or does there are problem flashing into an "older" version rom? (mine is A04 brazilian)
Anyway, thanks for the reply!
My WM5 is crashing frequently and I don't know why... I've installed some old dictionaries and maybe they messed it up. As I think on hard-reseting it, I consider the system upgrade, since WM5 is stupidly slow sometimes...
anyone else know about this rom switch-around?
I guess that if I have to call Dell, or my Ax is usable and I can switch the rom or it is unusable and probably they won't note that it was hacked! What about that?

Anyone successfully unlock, hard spl, and flash an O2 Ignito?

So, has anyone successfully unlocked, hard spl and flashed a new ROM into an O2 Ignito?
There's so little about the O2 ignito here, but i'm thinking to get one and try a wwe Rom on it.
Thanks all
some people have them

There's not much information relating to the "MDA Compact IV" either.

True true, but don't forget it's the same hardware anyway so all of the updating applies to all 3 versions of the phone.
I personally have the MDA Compact IV and have updated ROM/SPL/Radio fine, and my friend has the O2 XDA Ignito and has also updated all 3 of his so i can confirm its safe
The XDa Ignito comes unlocked as standard - you can use any SIM card in it. As for the rest - I put Olinex 1.40 on mine and then have flashed 3 different roms from here all fine
I'm going to put a new rom on my Ignito tonight hopefully.
First though I want a copy of the original O2 rom to put back on if necessary.
So far i've managed to dump the rom from the phone to my computer, but now just need to convert that all back into a ROM somehow.

same position here, i got the raw files and the spl but trying to find out how to build a rom with the raw files.
please update if youv managed to find anything
I also have the raw files but if I have no idea how to get these back into a normal flashable o2 rom! I am sure we will manage it if we need it for warranty purposes though if it comes to it
i think we need to start a new thread for this to get more attention, some of the advanced users will deffinitely be able to help.
its worth doing in my opinion
As has already been stated, there's loads of us XDA Ignito users on here. Within 2 days I'd flashed a new SPL and ROM onto my device. Would be nice to have the original o2 rom to roll back to if necessary but I'm perfectly happy with out it currently.
As far as I'm aware o2 are one of the few operators that don't lock their devices. Out of all the handsets I've had from them over the years I'm as yet to receive a sim locked one.
markquinton,
can you help us out with redeveloping the original o2 rom!
seems like you have some ccoking experience having a custom rom on your orbit! see my previuos post in this thread
I'm afraid I only built custom rom's from the base HTC one's made available for the Orbit originally when WM6.1 came out. I've never worked with raw files and wouldn't have the foggiest about how to get them back into a flashable state. Sorry!
hi all am hoping to get this thread going again as im having trouble geting Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex onto my ignito. did any of you guys have trouble?
Hard SPL on ignito
I managed to install the hard SPl onto my ignito, but have been unable to flash a new rom.
Think the pre-installed works well though, I just installed the original black theme as the blue o2 one is pants.
Radio upgrade has been fine.
Biggest recommendation I have is to install the VGA version of quick GPS. It REALLY made a difference to my satellite lock times from like 10 mins to about 10 secs
no problems with it works fine mine was on o2 software using latest dutty's now.
give it a go, loads faster now
