the time of my first visit this site with Wallaby in my hands...

i didnt think i can edit O2 or modify it at all.
I am still one of newbies even passed those years!
but special thanks for here!
this site has been making my dreams true, now and then!

Stealth forum

Why don't we have a Stealth forum in here?
We do, but it has a negative refractive index, it's just that stealthy.
Seriously: I don't think there's been much call for such a thread. slinky.
V
EDIT: PARTIALLY DELETED TO AVOID CONFUSION....... POLICY IS IF IT ISN'T HTC IT ISN'T GOING TO GET A SECTION
I'm for one... Issue is, I think there were many people here looking around for Stealth-related stuff, but left after finding so little info...
I would welcome it as well - xda-developers is well known site and many former users come here...
Kindly excuse my shameless-ness... But... BUMP!!
appreciate it very much if there's a stealth forum. i'm a newbie to the whole wm5 and using stealth. got lots of issues in o2 apps like o2 plus, ezitext and some others, like rom upgrades and the whole shebang.
I will be anther one.
I'm a stealth fanatic too...
yes please!
same here, i use O2 Stealth too..i want WM6 upgrade
i use O2 Stealth too.
me too .....we are not too bad
hi,my friends ... how to upgrade wm6 on my stealth?any idea?
Hi All,
The stealth isn't a HTC phone, at this moment there is no room for non HTC phones on the forum. Sorry..
Best regards,
Flar
Site admin.
But why? The forum is called XDA-developers and it is the O2 XDA Stealth, it doesn't say HTC-developers does it?
O and by the way, isn't the Atom and Stealth produced by the same company, because they are quite simular....?

Our portal page has the following welcome message:
Welcome to xda-developers.com
This site is about certain PDA-phones, made by a secretive firm called HTC in Taiwan. Their makers named them 'Wallaby', 'Himalaya', 'Blue Angel', 'Wizard' and 'TyTN', but almost nobody knows them by those names. The mobile provider O2 sells them under the brand-name 'XDA', and that's what we had in our hands first. They're also known as Qtek, MDA, SX-56, Hermes and many, many other names.
Since we develop software for it, we need information, and nobody seemed eager or ready to give us what we needed. So we 'reverse-engineered' the devices, found a lot of information, and shared it with the world. But as our site grew we realised that lots of ordinary users were also suffering from a lack of support. They started using the xda-developers forum to communicate and before long the forum was as much a user forum as it was a developer forum.
We hope that you will enjoy this site and find it as useful as we do. We encourage you to donate or otherwise support this site. Of course absolutely all proceeds from donations will benefit this community.
If you look closely you will also see that not all phones made by HTC have a place on this forum simply because there isn't room to give every phone a forum.
Best regards,
Flar
Site admin.
too bad.. i'm using Stealth too..

Im a Stealth user now too. Works well even in the States on Cingular/ATT. It does seem silly to have not even a small section devoted to xda's of all sort on a xda forum site. There is support for phones almost 5 yrs old that get maybe 1 or 2 new posts a month and this phone is only about 1yr old.
Just because O2 and HTC broke ties doesnt mean xda-developers and xda phones should break ties!
I have had a stealth in the past and would have loved to have seen a stealth forum at the time. IMHO i think that xda-dev would benefit greatly with a stealth forum. In fact I think that creating forums for all Non-HTC phones would be a great idea for the PPC community.
lol @ vijay....its just that stealthy

But if there is not a Stealh forum, could somebody please tell me which phone it is most like?
I think the stealth is quite simular to the atom, but which one? (pure/exec/etc.)

3 Michelin stars to the cooks of this forum!

I just thought I'd take a moment (one previously spent fiddling with my phone) to say well done and thank you to both Tom_Codon and meschle. Which ever flavour of ROM you've decided to put on your device I'm sure you'll agree that it has breathed new life into it.
I for one feel as if I just got a new phone. I haven't soft reset since Friday (which is a shame as I do like my animated splash screens), all my apps are set up, my home screen is just the way I like it....... so what do I do now?
Congratulations guys your efforts are much appreciated and I for one look forward to finding something more constructive to do with my time than hard-resetting my phone (well for a week or two anyway).
Cheers
Matt
I totally agree with you!
It's really amazing what these guys have created.. I don't know what would make my phone better than now. It's nearly perfect, just as I need it as my constant companion.
In this way, thanks mates..
lets be careful though
.....come on guys, I know the likes of Tom and Meschle are fantastic guys - with a lot of skill....but lets not make their heads TOO big....lol
If we big them up too much HTC might hear about them and take them away from us

I think Tom and many other cooks etc are well able to beef up the skills in HTC etc, but would not last long there.
Tom likes to produce new roms every month, but will be told 'that feature you just cooked is fantastic. We can sell that as the the new feature in next years model. We dont release new features unless we can sell them with hardware'

Thanks matt - this is encouraging Lets not forget fracoon - hope you finish your rom soon your beta is very promising
Well, I only know this forum for 2 weeks, but I could say that I am really impressed of the great work done on these ROMs.
I can't imagine the amount of work it is, but for sure the result is amazing
I'd like to put my 2 pennies in as well...
Thanks guys, tom meschle, fracoon and who ever else there is... i've had my xda orbit for a while, had other xda's b4, and work with loads of xda's, but since joining this forum, my xda has hit another level...
the time and effort u guys put in, my hat goes off to u guys... ive bin trying to cook my own rom, but failed miserabley, but i'll keep trying... im sure uguys will help
thanks again guys...
I can see a new MTV show coming soon; Pimp My PPC
Bunch of Cordon Bleu chefs in the kitchen taking some sad old OEM XDA and cooking away until voila! A new pimped-up device handed over to the poor ole charity case that will be able to now proudly be seen once more down the pub with his mates (a position for me I think )
Respect Gents, you make a good product so much better
Thanks to all
I also wish to thank all the people, who make ROMs and which happen to be much better than the original one.
This forum is a knowledge base for those who owns Pocket PCs. At times it is better than the manufacturers' support pages. To those who have created the Cook ROMS, you guys has shown a thing or two of how to make a ROM stable. Keep the good work.
If i can i would give 1000 Stars to the xda forum!!!
Is is the best i personally know and i deeply hope from the bottom of my heart that out friends like tom_condon and coolgadget come back.
There are only a few people kicking at the the forum - and most of us live the right spirit of the forum!!!
I think that it is interesting to buying a htc thanks to this forum because with original roms does not work well. 1000 stars to xda. We have new phones thanks to developers of the forum.
RESPECT
I absolutely agree with macguffin.
I've had tom's bb3.7 and 4.0, and I was totaly amazed! Until I join the xda forum I had my device with slow wm5, but now THANKS TO LOCAL GUYS I have brand new Artemis - I couldn't even imagine anything like this before. Now I have Meschle's ROM(seems better for me). I'm also sad that a lot of "internet newbies"(don't know how to search and ask) comes here but heads up guys...it's everywhere. I think if we stick together we can make this forum better!
Thank to all of you here who spend your nights with pimping our devices. You show me new way of using my phone. I don't wanna call your names because I know there are a lot of members who want to share their knowledge - no matter how they are skilled.
I'm sorry for my english, it probably isn't too good to describe my feelings.

Thanks to the chefs. Also many thanks to the developers who make the tools, which make these ROM's possible, thanks to Bepe, Pof, A_C, Gullum and NNcuong to mention just a few.
i am using B&B v3 Ger - Rom on my XDA orbit
and its much better than the original wm6. i love it!
hopefully soon the ger version of 4.1 will come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its been a while, how is everyone?

Hey all, MAJOR league busy at uni since the last time i was on here.
How is everyone?
Not too bad, just got back myself. How have you been?
Pleased to see the two of you back in active participation... Looking forward to new Guides and Roms...
Things are good - we are mostly in user support / maintenance mode around here. Still some good cooking going on, but the ROMs are so stable it is more like xda-support instead of xda-developers these days.
Good to see you. I have pointed people to your guides so pften recently, I should just make a signature that says it.
Glad to see you are back, I pointed lots of newbies to your guides...
Good to hear from U! Yes we are mostly in support mode around here lately. I point more noobs to your guides than any other. Keep us posted...

Hey sanmiauz, It's seniors' talk why are you here... hehehehe
welcome back Mrvanx... and thanx for your great guide
I will add my voice to the welcomes on here and also to thank you for a fantastic job on your guides. Have helped me and others over time although they probably need updating in some areas.
On a different note, what courses are you doing at Uni? York is a great part of the world, especially in the summer. Some legendary ghost walks round there and some half decent pubs (ooh yess).
All the best.
WB
i'm a nub, but this forum totally rocks =). i like the people here and i luv all the cooked ROM's. hermes is STILL an awesome phone even after the tilt came out. the 3MP camera on the tilt still doesn't look as good as standalone cameras and you can get a bluetooth GPS antenna for the hermes and it'll STILL be as good as the tilt!!! =).
i really hope HTC implements some of either ATI or NVidia's stuff. i'd love to play some 3D games or somn =).
Like many others, I too have directed others to your excellent guide. After all, that was how I learnt to upgrade my phone. Hope you would continue to update you guide. For example, Vista upgrade is much easier now that WMDC6.1 is out.
How about an updated guide vanx? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344151
You are welcome again. After all that warm words, can we start with a new great step toward improving Hermes telephony: plz have a look at this amazing dialer

Glad to see the old crowd returning. I think we missed your inputs and advice.
How's things yourself?

Welcome back to all the gurus!
welcome baaack mister anderson =P

This site is AWESOME

Just wanted to say this is the BEST site on the net I know of for everything there is to know about HTC's like my 8125.My first post here was a dumb question that I had.It only took a few minutes to find perfect answer for it.I've only been playing around with upgrading my phone to WM 6 for a few weeks. When I came to this site...That has changed.I want to learn as much as I can about my 8125.I would like to replace the housing myself when I feel that I can do it myself. So that's it...Thanks to all mods and members for tons of info.
LOL
Glad there was already a thread for praise.
I had an Apache for quite a while before I learned just how amazing that phone could be. Now, I'm on to my Titan & am loving it. If I had to use the phone in its stock form, I'd probably hate it. With what I've learned the phone can do, I love it... and what I've learned, I've largely learned here.
XDA-Dev is fabulous.
Thanks to all!!!!
Welcome to Paradise! And of course Happy Flashing to all the new members!!
I Agree
What can I say...
This site is awesome, however I have also found that you get back what you put in.
Still consider myself a relative newbie but working on that thanks to XDA Developers
i've recently read an article about mobile phones and the scene in a local computer magazine and xda-devs was mentioned as the legend, bible, and all those super-uber-extra-mega praises.. ^^
Without Xda-Dev my diamond would be dead (or maybe just sold
Just have to sign up to thank you guys.
I have been five year Palm but had to jump due to a move to 3G Japan.
After two days I was about to smash my Diamond into little pieces, it was so unresponsive compared to my Palm.
Then I stumbled onto this site and was reminded why it is I chose winmobile, despite it being spawned from the beast.
It's because of you guys, the hackers and tweakers, tirelessly tinkering until perfection. If it wasn't for the tweaks and the utlities (like gsen) my diamond would still be a source of frustration than the delight it has become.
Once I get my finances in order I am definitely going to paypal some cash somewhere. I would super keen to donate to anyone making a system font manager, something that can cleanly link and unlink fonts.
Richie
This is one great site, it is a wealth of info and has got me on my marry way so I thought i best say thanks before I left
THANK YOU

Hi. I'm a new member, introduction

Hi. My name is Joe and I just signed up here within the last few days. So I want to take this time and introduce myself to you all.
I live in Washington state of the U.S. 15 minutes South from down town Seattle. My wireless providor is Verizon.
I'm not sure why but ever since I went to see Depeche Mode August 10 and I lost my phone I have become interested in phones. It took me loosing mine to become really interested lol. So since about August 12 I have been researching phones to replace my lost one. I have learned a little along the way and I hope to keep learning.
Well I hope to get to know some of you as friends online and I hope I can keep learning and eventually in some way help others.
Joe

Hi buggs1a !
Welcom to the Site. I hope you'll learn a lot, and then you'll be capable to get a nice WM device and flash it at your convenience.
For everything you need, first step is reading the stickies in the top of forums, and the Wiki (that's the place where you can search into an encyclopaedic mode of the forum, where people posted articles about "what is" or "how to")
And I hope to find you at the Kaiser section, flashing ROMs and sharing what you enjoy. - yes, that would mean you finally get a kaiser or Tilt as your new phone.

Welcome to XDA mate. As Orb stated above I would advise you to check out the wiki for your particular device and read the stickies in your phone forum (top few threads in each forum - called stickies due to them being stuck at top of forum, and they are usually filled with useful info)
Also, moderators are here to assist, so feel free to ask a moderator for help if needed
