Software to txt from your pc - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

when my xdaIIS is plugged into it's dock i want to be able to txt from the pc, my sony ericson k700i could do it though my blue tooth tdk software but i can't seem to use that with this. n e other ideas guys?
also is there n e bluetooth software to use ur media player (again something SE phones have) ?
Thanks, rich

Jeyo Mobile Extender, a plug-in for outlook, allows you to write text messages. You can also retreive all text messages from you phone and store them in outlook.

cool, not really a fan of outlook but oh well.
n e ideas about the media player bit n e one?

You could always use the Microsoft Remote Display Control program. LINK With this, when your ppc is connected to your PC you can see and control it on screen with your mouse and keyboard. Instead of using software to send the SMS you can use software to control your PPC and send the SMS that way. Much less overhead and it serves more of a purpose than just sending SMS.

Bluejacking with XDA

One of my pastimes is sending inoccuous messages and pictures to peoples phones over BT. I've been successfully doing this for ages with my Sonyerricson K700i. I've had fun sending ringtones and themes to people for free
When I attempt to do this with the XDA it fails saying the remote device doesn't accept messages this way. I assume its cos the XDA is using a different protocol to the K700i. Is there anything I can install to address this?
Cheers,
Steve
don't know about your question but would also be interested in the answer.
I work at the airport and it seems that everyone has there bluetooth on. even the names people call themselves are quite funny. im still trying to work out who calls themselves "jugs" near my desk

Maybe becasue the default setting of the XDA is for the remote device to promt a passkey and for the sender to type in that key, that way, the sender cant figure out the key.
a possible solution?!?
Allright, i will give it a try to, .
First of all the so called os systems on the pohe's are different.
ringtone's (mp3's) should be possible to send; when they are supported on both phones, otherwise he stays in your sms incomings box till you delete it.
And like others explained to you both need to have the same passkey for doing this.
on some older phone models it was possible to do this due an security isue in bluetooth.
But time does not stand still and update come often, this bug become's less vurnable for phones.
So best way i now to send a ringtone is, with a passkey al my friends know to use "0000" is basic so you putt that in.
Or take a held on your friends phone (when he is not awhere) to make them autopairing.
just like a bluetooth headset.
Hope some others have better solutions for this.
:?: :!: :?:
Cheers guys, I know about pairing On teh K700i though, I can normally send a contact to say a Sony Ericsson T610 or Nokia 6310i without interaction by the recipient. The XDA IIs seems unable to do this.
I believe that its because the XDA hasn't got the correct protocol. Should be Object push instead of Object exchange, am I right?
Steve
I have been searching for something of this sort but was not able to..
Bluejacking
I also like to do this and im sure i have been able to send contacts to the phones mentioned. With the latest bluetooth stack there should also be no problem sending files. I know I have sent files ot my brothers phone without pariing but I had to alter my bluetooth profile.
In any rate this software http://www.net-cell.com/MP/ sends messages to any phones in range continously without the need for action on the recipiants phone. It works on the XDA2s.

I went to their page, and selected the download for the XDA II but they say it isn't supported. Which model did you download for?

I don't know if am missing something here guys, but I am sending files over bluetooth to all supported devices(Nokia,SonyEricsson,Samsung...)all the time from my MDAII(Himalaya)...
I just go to windows explorer(not Resco),select the file, press and hold, then select beam file....then I can detect every single bluetooth device with bluetooth on in range...just select it and...voila...the other device gets notified that someone is sending a file, and,by accepting it,it will be sent...
am still feeling am missing something,it cannot be that easy...
Cheers...
RAGO
When I try and send, I get a message saying the device doesn't support the recieving of messages. Pairing I can do but on the K700i I used to be able to send a contact to certain devices no problem.
When I select 'Beam' I get nothing. Seems to be only for Infra-Red.
I also tried Meeting Point and it crashed on my XDA IIs
Steve
Well all.
Is none of you aviable to send a contact?
To do so called bluejacking on my xda,
I simpy create a contact called "bluejacked"
Then i go to my contacts,
And hold down the conact called "bluejacked.
In the menu what pops up i find a button.
Something called "send contact by bluetooth". i'm not so sure
then i let my device search for bleutooth devices.
Once someone's bluethooth is on i simply push on the device in my screen.
And 90% of the message's i send this way are delivered.
don't need of a passphrase when you're sending a contact.
Did this with my xda and a sony ericson k750 the both worked in both way's to almost all phone's
Is this also working for other XDA phone's?

XDA Orbit with WM6 and Garmin Nuvi 660FM Text Message issue

XDA Orbit with WM6 (Black and Blue Version 4.0) + Garmin Nuvi 660FM Text Messaging Issues :
Okay I currently use my Garmin Nuvi 660FM as my Bluetooth Car kit and overall it is a great piece of Kit but there is only one option that does not seem to work correctly the SMS Function to read messages on screen and reply, this function would be very handy as you could safely and easily read the larger text while on the go.
I have used the Jetware Bluetooth add in version 1.3 and this helps a little in order to add a small bit of functionality such as only one ringtone is now used instead of the Orbit using it's own ringtone and the same for the Garmin.
Also the Text Message option seems to be alive but somewhat limited:
1.) Is shows the Inbox as 0/0 Outbox as 0/0 and the Drafts folders as empty, even though at the start of connection is says syncronsing messages, it neither syncronises the Outlook Mail nor the SMS
2.) Also when trying to send a text message, it goes through the process but does not send at all.
So, what I want to know is that has anyone got this function to work with either a Garmin Nuvi with that facility or even a Tomtom with the same and if so how did you get it to work.
Thanks
Robbie

Palm Thread SMS App.

Hi. I just did a fresh rom install and decided to try to the Palm Thread SMS application. Its a very nice application but I am having a few problem with it. Once the application connects to the GPRS (Media Net) to download mms messages it stays connected to the network until I manually disconnect it. Any ideas on how to fix this? Also another problem I'm experiencing is I am not able to view the pictures that are sent via MMS. I get the message and everything fine but the image say "Media Deleted". Like it was it deleted while it was receiving it. Any thoughts on these problems? I really like the Palm Thread SMS application much better then the stock Microsoft sms client. My device is a Hermes 8525, running Windows 6.1. Thanks in advance!
If you use Schap's Advanced Config Tool, it has an option in the Connections settings to disconnect active connections after a specified amount of time.
...and if your using WM6.1 then whats the reason behind using the Threaded App? Just use the regular threaded SMS built into 6.1 along with Arcsoft MMS

Easy way to send pic via blueteeth ?

Just noticed today thats it's bloody hard to send a picture in my albums via bluetooth... not being able to send via the album gui means i gotta find the filename of the pic i wanna send, open filemanager and then send via bluetooth... anyone know of an eaiser way to send pics via bluetooth, or even better... a cab that gives me a link to send via bluetooth in the 'send' context menu in the album UI ??
Bit of a downfall really... can upload to facebook, youtube, send via email or mms, but no bloody bluetooth
I'm not sure if you can do it with the built in app but you can try the new Resco Photo Viewer beta that I believe has this functionality and is probably a better photo viewer than the built in one. You can download it here http://www.resco.net/downloads/pocketpc/viewer/en/PhotoViewerBeta_p.exe
its funny because you said blueteeth.
cheers for that but i really wanna be able to send via bluetooth in manilla if poss, its only 10 - 20 seconds but its bugging the hell outa me.... i send a lot of pics through bluetooth. <reaches for nokia>
Anyone else (bump) ?

sending multiple vcards - bluetooth?

Hi all,
I have a pioneer BT unit in my car, it only accepts vcards send via bluetooth on the phone to create a phonebook on the unit.
I can send my contacts one to one to the pioneer unit by sending them as a v-card in the contacts app.
in my old phone (touch dual / niki) i was able to select multiple contacts and send them all together to my car-stereo. I can't find this option anywhere.
I installed bluetooth file transfer, which has the possibility to send multiple contacts, but that doesnt work on my desire, it hangs all the time and it messes up my bluetooth settings such that a connection could not be made with the app installed.
does anyone have any clue, or great app for this?
Well i'm having a MB bluetooth module in my car.
The problem i'm having is somewhat the same as above.
I can upload vcf cards one by one but that would take me ages. I can also go to: "contacts>import/export contacts>Share visible contacts>Bluetooth". When i do this, it always fails...
Anyone has a clue to this?
Regards
Mr H
