i've just bought my friends XDA (the 1st one), i was wondering if by any chance i can upgrade it to windows mobile 2003 & remove the PPC 2002 on it?
my only problem with this phone is that it does not have BT & WM2003, but i guess that a software issue??
can it be done.

Yes you can upgrade to WM2003 but about the BT this is a Hardware issue thus you cannot get an BT SD because it won't work the unit does not support SD/IO.
I recommend from you do not touch the "RSU" leave it as its .

I have an O2 IRL XDA II and wish to update this to the new win version above, I did manage this but lost all conenction settings for MMS, WAP and gprs when done.
Is there some file(Cab?) that can be installed after the fresh install to give me these settings again and if so how is it run?

You must take the file from any one from your friend have a PPC phone edition that runs on win 2003 se
you need the program that opens extended rom and I think you have it , so open your extended rom by clicking on start - programs - extrom tools - unhide and unlock , after that restart your device and open your file explorer and you will see there's extended rom direcory revealed , open it and you will see extended rom installation program file there , copy it to your friend device ,install the extended rom program on his device and open his extended rom like what you did on your device ( don't click on unlock , it will show error on his device ) and you will see his files and the file setting for mobile telecommunications
companies copy the file you want on your extended rom and open your config file that inside the exteded rom directory and add list as list above ( cab ://my device/extended_rom/ (your file name.cab ) )
it will be installed after hard reset automatically

But as I gone thru this forum... I heard of WM2005 beta version is released... I have downloaded the software with Active sync 4.0 but I am hesitant to try with my new imate JAM.. is it trust worthy and can I upgrade my wM2003 SE to this new one..

R 1.4 G 1337.24 D 17.2 00WWE. Imate is not providing the ROM upgrade to WM2005. I want to know the following 1) Where to get the ROM (WM2005) compatible to my phone 2) How to upgrade and install the ROM 3) I think mine is Himalaya for I am in the Middle East, buit not sure? 4) Which version of WM2005 and Radio is best for my device? if ur device has a slide out keyboard, it aint going to happen, if its the mini, that aint happening, if its the xda 2 the silver one, then read wiki for himalaya on instructions on upgrading. if ur not sure, do a google image search on xda 2 .

Since I cannot get ride of this XDA2i I decided to try and install windows mobile 2003 or 2003se on this device. I’m not talking about Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition. I just want to install the same rom as in an ipaq lets say. Is that possible??

you cant just install a windows like you can on pc
so unless there was ever made a non phone edition rom for
your device that was leaked then no

hi i want to upgrade the rom on my xda iis but i cant connect my phone to my pc with the cradle OR with bluetooth serial cable com which is really bugging me cuz i cant do a rom upgrade i want to upgrade to windows mobile 2005 (is this possible yet?) or just a better rom than 1.31.00 cause its bloody old lol does any one know whats wrong with active sync ive used activesync 3.7, 3.8 AND 4.1 can anybody tell me where i could download 3.9 or 4.0 to try or suggest how i get around this sync problem cheers
