Hi everyone,
I have a real nutcase of a Wallaby on my hands. Have gotten the xda special developers rom on it, have tried xdaunlock, but nothing seems to work. Keep getting "error getting code". Even tried going for confession. Please help.
Cheers, Emeka :?
Device Information
ROM Version: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM date: 05/15/03
Radio version: 4.21.02
Protocol: 32S54
CPU: ARM SA1110
Speed: 206Mhz
RAM size: 32MB
Flash size: 32MB
Model: PW10A1
IMEI: 350312011743965
I had same problems, tried everything recommended including using a serial cable rather than USB and flashing from ROM. I was finally able to remove simlock only by using a paid ($39 USD) service from http://www.unlockitnow.com/
They provide VERY thorough instructions, with step by step details, which allowed me to unlock my phone within 20 minutes once I'd started. To their credit, their instructions are where the value lies, not in the software which is all 'freely' available on the web, including some from this site. In fact, once they were clear about which specific carrier's version of the Wallaby I was using, they sent me a second set of more detailed instructions, which were well worth the fee charged.
Good Luck

I have just downloaded the rom upgrade off the O2 website (ver 1.60.50) and installed. Initially it was trying to connect to the internet! Eventually I got it working, but after hard resetting the version still says 1.60.00wwe, Rom date 12/03/03, extRom ver 1.60.50 - all as before.
Does anyone know if the upgrade has actually worked but the info not been updated, or does this mean that the update hasn't worked and I must have had an error somewhere?
Any help, advise appreciated.
I thought these forums where to help each other out and provide information. It is disappointing that no one wants to help, or provide a little guidance.

Absolutely nothing changed?
I thought it's not possible? Did you see a progress bar on XDA's display during the upgrade? if so, the memory has been accessed, so your rom is the new one, there is just a mess in identification. As far as I know, extROM changes the identity (it is it's main purpose), did you use it?

Maybe I'm wrong - but it seems that you are upgrading from 1.60.50 to 1.60.50. Right? As such, everything WOULD be the same!
I did see the progress bar, and the documentation before the upgrade on the O2 website sugests the Rom to be 1.60.00wwe and the extRom to be 1.60.50
I would have expected the actual Rom to now be 1.60.50wwe.
Has anyone else managed to upgrade to the official O2 ROM that is on their site and can confirm the ROM info? Also what apps etc would confirm that it has been upgraded if the info hasn't been updated but upgrade has work?
Many thanks for help and advice.
I'm not sure, but doesn't higher number mean later+better ROM?
If yes, have a look at 1.72 by T-mobile - there should not be many differences!
Since I have only just bought it I don't want to upgrade to an unofficial ROM in case it invalidates the Warranty should anything go wrong with it. May look at using a ROM from another supplier in a few months though.
Can anyone confirm if the ROM ver should be changed?
Thanks

You need to give people time to reply mate - we don't LIVE on these forums you know.
Anyhow, to answer your posts, yes, you have worked it out, the O2 ROM update, which is described as 1.60.50, is actually just the extended ROM element.
The system ROM is still 1.60.00
This confused me, and no doubt, lots more people too, and it's a bit STUPID of O2 to describe it this way.
Thus, you have in effect flashed your XDA2 to the exact same ROM it had before hand.
Curses to O2 for the confusion. Not good of them!
Thanks, and sorry for being impatient
O2 need to sort this out as I have done a ROM upgrade that could have fried my machine if I did it wrong that was unneccessary.
Thanks again.
Well, O2 is not alone in this - the current i-mate ROM is listed as 172126. The ROM version is 1.72.00, but the Extended ROM is 1.72.126.
I think they do this for internal tracking purposes. They get the ROM from MS, but they tweak the ExtROM themselves. It is possible for them to release multiple ExtROM versions in the same ROM version, so THAT is what they specify.
Make sense? Just a stab in the dark as to the logic of the release numbers.
I have a new T-Mobile Universal (MDA Pro) which I think I have unlocked (courtesy, donation and kind thanks going to Buzz and the gang in appreciation).
My device information now reads as follows:
ROM version: 1.20.32 WWE
ROM date: 11/16/05
Radio version: 0.00.00
Protocol version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM version: 1.20.120.WWE
I had the lastest T-mobile ROM prior to unlocking but now I appear to have 0.00.00 radio.
Question is this: what now?
1. What ROM would you recommend? I have poor reception so am biased towards a quality signal grabber (if that makes sense lol)
2. Where do I get the recommended ROM (from the FTP here? I tried to register on i-mates download site but it rejected by IMIE)
3. Last but not least (and probably most importantly)how do I update the ROM? Do I need to update my bootloader before flashing the ROM?
Please help because I do not want to push my luck and bork my wee pride and joy
Big thanks in advance
(this board and the wealth of info it provided influence my purchase decision so big thanks to all in advance)

Tmobile NL ROM is good IMO. It's on FTP and has the 1.01 bootloader upgrade.

M8!.... and if you read the forum a bit more you will find what you need.....
If you unlocked your pda then you should be able to fully upgrade your rom since its the same way you done the first half of the unlocking ... use the no_id file instead of the original one and its always best to put the pda into bootloader mode first.
You can also only upgrade the radio to 109 withouth messing around with reinstalling stuff that you had (if any)...
I could keep on in regards to this m8 but i would only be telling you what i read during my searches on this forum... if you get my drift
Good luck.

Problem is I have confused myself by reading too much
Can I use the Tmobile NL ROM even though I use ENGLISH?
Do i need to do any preparatory work to use the 1.01 bootloader?
How do I upgrade?
* unpack new ROM to folder on desktop computer
* copy MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to same folder
* remove SD czrd
* open activesync on desktop and uncheck "Allow USB connections"
* enter bootloader mode by simultaneously pressing backlight key/power key/and soft reset
* plug USB cable into universal/dwsktop
* run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe on desktop
* wait 5 seconds following a prompt showing olf/new ROM bfore pushing upgrade button.
* donot disturb anything whilst updating.
* click Ok button when 100% complete shows.
* do hard reboot (by pressing the two -- buttons/reset key)
* press button 0 when prompted and follow normal instructions
Is this correct? if so .. any other ROMS recommended ?
THANKS
Bob
Bob,
The instructions are correct. The latest Qtek ROM (WWE version) is quite good - supporting AUK2 and A2DP Bluetooth profile.
Thanks Richard - it is very reassuring to have someome look at what your going to do to make sure you got it right.
Out of interest, since unlocking my universal and thereby acquiring radio 0.00.00, does my phone stay unlocked even though I will be upgrading radio as part of my general ROM upgrade? My phone still works under radio 0.00.00 so i assume that although it is 0.00.00 it still retains all phone functionality?
Thanks for all your help
Bob
BOB..... just apgrade the rom and plz stop backtracking the thread!
As already posted here and also tested myselfe.... the phone will stay unlocked forever even after rom upgrades!
Also as posted by others..... if you keep radio on 0.00.00 it will give poor eficiency.
So.... just go ahead and upgrade the rom..... my personal advice would be as Rich said... use the latest qtek rom (not the one with wwe twice on the filename).
BR
I apologise for any repitition but as I said earlier, I have been (like numerous others who read the board) very confused by the technical aspect of this. Im sorry if my post has offended your greatness and thereby warranted your abrasive post. I was under the misapprehension that I could feel free to express my technical problem in the best manner I could. Obviously you feel otherwise. My advice to you would be to wind your neck in and let others who arn't as technically gifted as your greatness to get on with resolving their issues. No one asked you to read this thread let alone post two replies!!
To all others who helped me, many thanks and genuine appreciation. To agent003, I hope your 'little man' syndrome gets better real soon pal!!!
Bob
Bob,
After the upgrade, it is recommended that you flash the original radio stack back on - I personally recommend the radio 1.09 as it seems to work best in the UK; later versions such as ver. 1.11 have been reported as unstable in the UK.
The instructions are on wiki.xda-developers.com
BOB,
Nothing personal m8.... but.. every day i have to repeat myselfe in order to verbally explain stuff to people and that i can understand, but when me and others bother to write something down and still have to re-write it all over again in order to explain I just have to assume some people are just thick!
Every forum has what is called a database and next time instad of posting sarcasm i sugest make better use of yours and my time and USE IT!
WBR
Bob and agent003,
Now, now... You've both got a point, but you shouldn't be killing each other, especially when you're both from the same country, and ESPECIALLY when Beckham and his team are playing hard in the World Cup at the mo. You guys gotta unite!
So, Bob: do spend a bit more time on reading the threads, as there are LOADS of information on your question.
Agent003: you gotta go easy on someone who has only made 5 posts, but point well-made anyway.
Oh, and England's now in the last 16 of the World Cup!
Universal now successfully flashed with latest Qtek ROM (which was a self executing file). Thanks for all the help
Agent003 - if you don't like what I post due to my (and others) "thickness" then stop reading and don't reply! Having said that I did appreciate the information you posted if not the childish remarks.
Hi there
I am trying to upgrade my Xda Exec (O2 - corporate mode) and have read the posts and guides and downloaded all that I have to. Anyway on running the wizard service tool I get the following info:

So logic says I need to follow the G3 guide. So when I try and run the button rom I get error code 222. Having searched this I have tried bootloader mode but in that mode activesync doesn't recognise the device. I'm lost. If you are able to help I would appreciate it very much. Thank you
forgot to add this (don't know if it helps)

If you've read a lot I may be barking up the wrong tree but....can this tool (wizard service tool) be use for the Universal (Xda Exec)? Me thinks not all Wizard development tools (made for the HTC Wizard) work on Universal....
Wizard Service Tool?
Not sure what it is and why you used it at all, sorry. I think your case is a clear illustration of too much knowledge corrupts the mind.
Your best bet is probably to disable USB connection settings in AS, remove SD and SIM and try again.
I need to submit my phone for warranty due to screen crack. I was on the custom ROM and now followed instructions to put in original SPL and ROM - can someone please confirm if the details are OK now based on what is mentioned below: The SPL is showing as SPL 0.79.000 and I have the official Radio and ROM installed. Is this good enough?
edit: thiws phone was bought directly from expansys (unlocked) in UK and used in UK.
Can someone please confirm so I can send off
Many thanks in advance!

reinstall the factory junk and get a new phone under warranty (so I need to know how OP did it, please)

JUST BOUGHT IT SECOND HAND FROM SOME UNIVERSITY STUDENT WHO SAID EVERYTHING IS PERFECT (GUARANTEED) BUT WHEN I CALLED HIM AFTERWARD HE JUST VANISHED..
NOW TO THE POINT....AS IT SHOWS IN TITLE...
SD CARD NOT READABLE/TRACEABLE (USED MANY CARDS) ALSO FORMATED WITH HP TOOL IN ANOTHER PHONE BUT NO AVAIL (SHOW NO CARD EVEN IF ITS THERE)...
BLUETOOTH NOT TURN ON...WHEN CLICK TO ON IT STARTS A RAINBOW WORKING CIRCLE BUT THAN STAYS OFF....
WIFI IS TURNING ON ....DEAD
THE BLUTOOTH AND WIFI PROBLEMS TRACED BY ME EARLIER WHEN I FIRST USED IT BUT THE SD CARD PROBLEM COMES IN VIEW WHEN I WAS READY TO COPY FILES FOR ANDROID ON IT....
CAN YOU HELP ME...:fingers-crossed:
How about you start simple and a) turn off the caps lock and b) focus on WinMo. If it doesn't work in WinMo, it certainly won't work in Android.
So have you tried the stock ROM? Flash stock, perhaps do a task29 as well. If the phone comes back and those things still don't work, I'd say you were sold a brick. Sorry. Such is the way with second-hand..
