[Solved] JJ keyboard from ita back to eng after upgrade - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Hi to all!
I have a WWE Jasjar and i've been waiting for the italian rom for a long time.
Then imate released it and I upgraded my jasjar with new rom.
Everything is fine except for a thing: the keyboard!
I didn't consider that in Italy there's a different layout and probably the Italian Jasjar has a different keyboard.
I've obviously got the standard one, with english keyboard.
Is there a way to change the keyboard layout back to the original english one or the only solution is to get back to the WWE rom?
Thanks

Is the Ita Rom avialable by i-mate? Are You sure?

Absolutely yes! I have already installed it! You must be a registered user to download the rom.
And I have found a solution to my problem: now the keyboard work perfectly.
Everything's fine.

famusc do you live in Italy ??
i got big problems with this phone, especially because i can only make one call or more and it's need to turn off the radio and than back on to be able to make a new call.
Is this a behaviour that occurs to anybody ???
Ruppia

famusc: if you've solved this problem, perhaps you should change the title of the thread to show what you've achieved...
V

Yes I live in Italy.
I've never had any problem with my phone and especially with phone calls.
To change the keyboard layout:
Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty and change the value to 10409 hex.
The keyboard will be remapped to the english one after reset.

QTEK9000 Spanish -> English

Hello Everyone,
I just joined this forum as i was able to buy a QTEk with the following details:
Version de ROM : 1.13.74 ESN
Version de Movil : 1.04.02
Version Protocolo : 42.37.P8
Version de ExtROM : 1.13.169 ESN
As I am more fluent in English than Spanish, I wanted to upgrade my ROM to English, but also I would need to Backup the ROM of the spanish version so if there are problems with the phone, I can flash it back to the original manufacturer installed ROM.
What program do I need to Backup the ROM (and restore in the future) before I start fiddling?
Also, I heard that I can erase Extended ROM. As of now, what can I use the space that I will gain from erasing the contents of the Extended ROM?
Also one thing i noticed is that some of the keys have rub marks coming from the upper part of the universal (the screen) I think they touch eachother when it is colsed. Is this a factory defect?
Finally, I don't know where to register and get support for my QTEK. Where do you download/search for patches? Where do I register this device? Should I have gotten an i-mate instead?
Thanks in advance for all your comments, guys.
Jorge
GUYS?!?
Hello Anybody out there?
I have posted this message 2 weeks ago, a few views but no answers so I'll go ahead and update you on what's happened:
Thanks to BUZZ_LIGHTYEAR I was able to RAW DUMP my Spanish ROM to a File which I exchanged for a decoded nk.nbf file from an unpacked English ROM Update (the QTEK WWE) then I encoded the RAW file so now I have a new nk.nbf file which i pressume is the Spanish verion.
I'm not sure if it'll make a difference that the rest of the files are in English but will this update any UNIVERSAL to the Spanish verion? Anybody needs Spanish ROM and is willing to test this out? I can send you the Files needed? If it doesn't work you just have to flash back to the English. I haven't tested it yet because my device is originally Spanish so I have no fallback ROM if it doesn't work. But I followed BUZZ's instructions and I don't think it's gonna cause a problem.
Hmm,
seems this topic is very boring to everybody here, oh well....
Anybody has similar case of rubbed-out keys on the keyboard?
Just to show that there are persons available reading and having an opinion
Left and right of my keyboard, a little lower then the keys itself there are two outstanding rubber ? pads ? protecting the display from touching the keyboard, be it in portrait or landscape mode. So no, I do not have this problem.
Ruud
Mine have the rubber stuff too, Maybe i have them a little low... Could I possibly get a replacement? I don't think this can be considered wear-and-tear as i only had my phone for 1 month..... And the "damage" was caused by open/closing of the phone. Not using of the keyboard.
I would say certainly worth a try.
Good luck.

i need spanish rom
I bought my qtek 9000 from O2 (UK) by ebay, it works great, but i need spanish software, i'd like to probe MoviStar, vodafone (if available) and free Spanish versions. I also need instructions or manual, i flashed a xda2 once, but i can't remember how i did, i think i put it in a special test mode. Thanks.
I have posted the QTEK Spanish ROM in the uploads section. Please look for it. Both OS and Extended ROM are there.
Just download the OS, and run the "noID" file to upgrade your QTEK to Spanish. Just remember that also the keyboard will be configured to Spanish (which has the "Ñ" character) so you have to re-map it back to whatever keyboard you have. You can search how to do this in the forums.
Just download the 2 said files, then you can upgrade your ROM. These ROM's are dated OCTOBER 2005
what do i need for backuping my system to a sdcard?
Im not sure. I backed-up to my PC. I think you can search here for grab_it program that dumps to SD card but i'm not sure it will work for WM5 or Universal
Well, how did you backup system to your pc?
and thanks again.
Actually, what i backed up was my OS nad ExtendedROM. No personal customizations.
You can see in my second post that i was able to do it thru steps i saw at BUZZDEV.NET thanks to buzz-lightyear.
It's under "how to d2s dump" you can follow my story there on how to backup ROM. Esentially it copies your operating system to a file on your PC which you can then install on another device after encoding/decoding.
I have posted my Spanish QTEK ROM on the FTP site so you can change your QTEK to spanish if you want.
What's your QTEK ROM version? all details please:
ROM Version
ROM Date
Protocol Version
Radio Version
Extended ROM Version

Chars-switching when pushing SYM on WWE ROMs

Hey folks,
I live in Germany and bought a german MDA Pro from T-Mobile. Now I usually use english-software on any device I have, Windows, Mobile Phone and my HTC Universal. The only problem I have with any other ROM than a German one is the Keyboard-Symbol-Support.
With the German OS I can type an o and hit one time the "SYM" Key and get an ö which for example is very often used in Germany.
With international versions I have to hit SYM 3 to 4 times. :x
Or is there a way to change that?
I read somewhere her in the Forum where I can change the Keyboard-Layout, so that Z is Z and not Y and vice versa, but the problem with the german "Umlaute" is still there.
So typing with the Keyboard is really anoying. That's the reason why I'm stuck with the german T-Mobile 1.20 ROM although I would love to use a newer one from QTEK or IMATE...
Can anyone help me?
TIA.
Hi NiTeSHiFT,
same for me, bought the device in Germany as VPA-IV, changed to english ROM from iMate asap. Using latest iMate now also.
I asked about this before and understood it is in the Softkeyboard, but I have no solution until now.
Anybody ?

ere is a file 'sym.txt' in the windows folder. You can edit this (best way to copy it to your desktop/laptop computer, adit and copy back to the xda) and you will be able to change the order of the different character as you wish.
Hi Fortinbras,
well thanks m8, that's so easy and fast to change.
I had the old Vodafone-file still available, change and soft-reset.
Perfect, thanks

Nevertheless my MDA Pro with the newest Orange Firmware is still VERY slow with NO extra program installed...
German sym.txt File
Hello!
Is there anyone who has the original german sym.txt file to exchange it with the english one. It would be great, if someone can post it here!
Best regards!

Lits of ROMs ?

Hi fairly new here is there a list/table/Database of all ROMs available on tghis site other than the FTP directory, that also gives some info on what is in each , compatibility, comments form users ???
Seen a lot of Different lists in different places but trying to summurise them all as a newbi is almost imposible.
I bit the bullet and up graded my T-Mobile (german Keyboard) which had O2 OM 1.13.48 WWE Rad 1.04.02 Ext Rom 1.13.139 WWE in oit already when I bought it.
I used I-Mate Rom 1.30.68 Rad 1.09.00 Ext Rom 1.30.153 WWE
Which I managed to load with out to much problem Thanks to many helpfull post here. I did find out that I can not unlock the extended rom now, which if I had read a little bit more or better I would have noted as a known issue with this rom. It also was totaly unstable when I loaded SpB today plugin on top of Full RESCO suite that of course has its on Today Plug in. Once I removed the RESCO today Plugin (left all the other resco stuuf) it was fine.
How ever before I start loading all my other stuff to fine tune it.
I seek some advice. What is the Best ROM available at the moment? suitable for my unit. I dont care about Keyboard layout it was mapped correctly when I got it but when I did a fuul boot after a problem it reloaded the O2 sftware but the Germany key board was mapped for QWERTY. Now I am living with it. At some point I will learn how to remap it back to the QWERTZ.
Is the Developers Special ROM for me?
or one of the AUK3 or UNI_AKU3_2_WWE_IVAN_beta8
I have just read there is an Orange ROM with new Radio?
I would stay with what I have now but I do want to unlock the rom and I think that the rom I have installed has been surpassed by many newer ones.
HELP just a bit of advise Please?
Many Thanks

how to convert SPV m700 OS WM5 from Chinese to English

Hi All,
I've unlocked my SPV M700 Orange 2 days ago, so can use any sim. Now the unable to use GPS, so I went update the ROM. Big mistake is I've downloaded Chinese version. So how can out back to WM5 English version?
I will be appreciated if anyone can help!
fuadsaeed
Choose a ROM you want (why go back to WM5?):
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades
Make sure you flash it using SPL. Check www.trinityguides.info for step by step procedure(s).
I have no Idea, I thought going to the factory default, but if you have best advice I would take it. As my phone is booting with Chinese every bit of the screen. If WM6 would replaced I can't refused?
Cheers,
Fuadsaeed
There are many ROM's available but no such thing as the best. You will have to try to see which one is best for you. If you want a "save" start, choose bepe's ROM ...
language is hardcoded into the rom
a new rom a new language
that is if the new rom have a different
language then the last one
WWE == world wide english
Many Thanks T-Rob, my phone is back to HTC setting and GPS working fine too!
cheers to all!
