Hi,
I have had my Qtek9090 for a couple of months now and I am really happy with it, not had many problems at all.
Wifi and BT worked first time and only had to rebuild it twice.
But here comes my problem ;(
Everytime I rebuild I lose my SMS data ( i know I can do a full backup but thats not what I want) I have pocket mechanic and i can see the databases on the phone and i have worked out that this is the database for SMS is fldr1001c49.
I cannot find this file anywhere on the phone )using windows explorer on my pc and winodws exp on the phone) nor is there a setting to move the sms message folder somewhere else.
Can anyone help me to try to save my SMS data?
Thanks a lot !

Hi,
Need some help..
Can any body let me know how I can save SMS's permanentlly as after a hard reset they are gone.
So if there are some files on which in which SMS’s are saved I can make a backup of that files and replace them after a hard reset..
Please if anyone has anything on this matter then please let me know....
Hi Perci,
I have had this problem before. the only solution I found ut was to take regular incremental back ups , so in case of a hard reset u can always restore most of your data. Thats the practice I follow.
But wonder if nay one else has a better solution on storing / backing up the specific data like sms ONLY.. thats would be great..
Have u got any idea on how to transfer SMS data from a Palm O/S to XDA II ?
Regards,
Hi.
I use Jeyo Outlook extender. It saves your sms in a folder in Outlook, just like e-mail. Very easy to use.
SMS backup
If you are using XDAII, this this program can let you save your contact and SMS in a file and later when you run this program to restore the data. I usually backup these data in my storage area and restore it therefrom.
However, this is Chinese version (do you know whether you can understand Chinese), and it works only for XDAII - I tried this for my IIs, does not work.
thanks for the software
thanks for thwe software
but as it is in chinese I cannot understand a thing....
if you could please put the screen shots here with english explanation it will be of great help
if possible please provide the chinese font also..
thanks.

Hi,
Had exactly the same issue.
The problem for me was restoring the backup file created by Sprite.
I resolved my issue by not restoring the messaging dB's - and everything was OK - The reverse is make a backup but not the messaging dB's then restore.
Hope this helps somewhat.

Hi After doing some googling I found a tool that might help for some people but it didnt for me. someone else might ba able to shed some light
1) use the DBViewSP editor to go to cemail.vol
2) under that go to 'pmailNamedProps' and select it to edit the values
3) scroll down to the very last 2 values, which should be called 'UnreadCou...'
4) delete them
5) restart
Please if you do do this make a backup of your .vol file 'just in case'!

I can not open the messaging program in windows directly or by using the button. Windows does nothing whenever I try. I communicate alot with text messages and email so this is a big problem for me. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Have you recently done a backup with SPB etc. I did this recently and lost all access to my PIMs Had to delete my pim.vol. Bad news.
V
No I haven't done any backups lately and I don't know what a PIM is. Do i have to re-instsall windows and where can I get a copy of the os? THanks/
-Ross
GaR. PIM is personal information manager (I think!). If it really is screwed, sync your phone to your computer, backup anything necessary, and hard reset.
hard reset - this will reset everything to factory installation settings, hopefully correcting all problems but wiping everything. So backup anything important. Then run an app that should be on your phone, called ClearStorage. This will wipe it out.
There is another method using hardware keys, but I don't know what phone model you have.

Whenever I compose and not able to send the SMS and click the OK button it disapear, in normal condition it shoul be saved in the Draft folder.
Although it is visible in the counter when I open the draf folder there is nothing in it.
I already perform a soft reset and try to boot in safe mode to check if there is a conflict with the application installed at my phone but nothing works.
I have tried to explore the folder windows/messaging to check if the Draft SMS is physically saved in the device and I think it is there (by checking the date and time of the file is created).
I need some advise on how can I solve this problem withou performing a hard reset, because rigth now I'm just manually deleting files at windows/messaging to save storage space.
I know harset will definetlt solve this but I dont want to perform a hard reset since I dont have a PC to configure my XDA back ang installed my favorite applications
You might need to hard reset...to solve this problem...
Avoiding Hard reset
I know Hard reset will definetly resolve my problem but will introduce more because I dont have a PC to doit as for now. I'm just currently renting one a internet cafe
wow is going to be dificult if you don't have computer..
Withou a Computer
Yah, I know it is difficult, although rigth now my hand are itchi to hard reset my phone I'm trying hard not to because I will not be able to use my favorite apps ang games. If I just have an admin priveledge with this PC that I am using I will not have any second thought to performe a hard reset.
That is why I posted my problem here, for my hope there there is somebody that could help me.
In addition I have Resco explorer install witha registry editor plugin, so incase i need to check or edit any file or registry I can.
You can try backup with Sprite Backup or Spb Backup. Hard Reset then restore everything except e-mail/messaging.
Hi everybody.
I really need your help on this!
After a fresh PC install I synced my phone with Outlook via Mobile Device Center.
Problem is, my Outlook addressbook on my PC was almost empty - and now, all my phones contacts have been deleted!!!
And I don't have a backup of the newes contacts.
I know it is possible to restore deleted information on most storage devices.
Does anybody of you guys have experience on how to possible do that on a WM6 device?
Where does WM6 normally store the data? What software could I use to restore deleted Information?
PLEASE HELP.
Thanks a lot,
t.
You might be out of luck, since it probably didn't delete the PIM file. It only deleted records in the table of that file. Have you sync'd with any other computer? MS Live? etc. Your contacts still may be on the other devices.
Otherwise, I think your outta luck. Sorry
Chris
I had this once and i found back my contacts in MSN in the "deleted contacts". If you haven't synced with MSN, i think you better start to look for some new friends

there isnt any data recovery software for windows mobile trust me ive looked there is software to recover simcard info
http://www.datadoctor.biz/sim-card.html
I had the same problem kinda.. were your contacts on your simcard at anypoint?
If so you could always get a simcard data recovery software and usb thumbdrive for simcards. U need to instal the recoverysoftware on your pc and to get you simcard to recognise on your pc thats were the thumbdrive come into play.
This happened to me when I switched to Vista, totally unexplained loss of all contacts. I feel for you man, I was lucky and had most of them backed up on an online service.
thx for all your replies guys - managed to restore most of my older contacts - but the newer ones seem to be lost - dammit.
well, lets move on
I use the PIM backup to backup my contacts/sms's/recently called lists.. I set it to back my things every day and to keep 3 recent backups. I keep my backup files in storage card so if I have to do a hard reset -ill get my contacts etc. back without computer. Thisway I avoided similar problem(just had to restore the backup with PIM backup).
PIM Backup is the best choice. Synchronization with Outlook only is dangerous - have bad experience too...
Hi
Check your deleted items in outlook on your pc. I have sometimes found activesync deletes items from my phone but they go into the outlook deleted items.
Shaks
I recently upgraded from XP to Vista and the same thing happened. I didn't back anything up either. I got lucky though, my old files from xp were saved in a folder called windows.old, went in there and found my .pst file(outlook) and placed it in the vista outlook folder and got everything back...now I backup with PIM Backup daily.
