Hey guys. Just got a PDF that says 28 February 2005 XDAIIs Upgrade INstructions. & release notes.
ROM version 1.31.139
Radio version 1.06
Think we get it on CD on the 28th!! Can't wait. hopefully fix a few bugs!!
Can I ask where you got the PDF?
Also, do you know how its going to be despatched?
Cheers
Blackberry
Does the XDAIIs upgrade include a Blackberry client?

Just thingking you might want to share that pdf file with us. Upload it, please......
ditto
Hi
Aye, ditto on the upload request please!! Not seen anything on O2's website, my xda or sourceo2. I sure hope they intend to make it available as a download on the same date rather than keep non corporate users waiting.

Hi
I assume that they mean the help+faq section and theres nought in there currently. Cant find anything on source o2 either. The XDAIIs launch rom has been in the wrong place on sourceo2 for over 2 months !!!! (they uploaded the wrong rom at first - XDAII launch rom - and hosed loads of peoples IIs machines)
Silly buggers
Nigel
According to Tekguru it is not out until March 1st but will be in production units from next week
Hmmm.. Wonder why the radio version is 1.06 but not 1.06.02
I Got my IIs last week and it come shipped with this rom already
didnt think to check it, been messin with it that much lol
here is the updated bluetoth patch for all to share, sorted out my probs with bt200 headset
Bit disappointing that the BT build is still 3500, they sent that to us bout a month ago & it fixed next to nothing.
We've even made them pay for a couple of car kits to be replaced when the "compatible bt products" list proved to be garbage.
The most annoying thing for me is still the mic level/quality with the phone, this is obviously software related as it works ok with voice recording, skype & even works better wen on speakerphone. Any sign of this improving?

tried to download the pdf file (Xda_IIs_131139_upgrade.pdf), but nothing happen. how can i download this file?
Evening ladies and gents!
Right, I'm this close to buying a 2s, but what is the liklihood of it ever geeting Blackberry connect?
I'm stunned by the short sightedness of o2 in this respect. It is the perfect device to use as a BB replacement, but the put the client on the xda II instead?
Smartner/xmail whatever just aren't viable alternatives I'm afraid, and I suspect that this will be the case for many people.
Cheers
Looks like O2 now have the thing on their upgrade web site. And two days early as well! Go grab it all from here.
No mention of Blackberry though. Only major update is for bluetooth.
True, but given the crappy quality of my HS850's connection I am hopping this will be the biz for my use, at least.
Strange Rom used in Singapore
My Singapore IIs has the below rom. Does anyone know why the ExtROM Version of my current rom is "newer" then the lastest update from O2? Is there is huge difference between Radio Ver. 1.02 and 1.06? Thank you so much if anyone is know enought to help.
ROM Ver:1.31.00WWE
ROM DATE:12/13/04
Radio Version:1.02.00
Protocol Version:1337.32
ExtROM Version:1.31.920WWE
Hmmm, I tried applying the update. Now the O2 Icon is over in the right of the screen and I cannot pull down the list of connections when I tap on it. Anyone know of a way to move it back to the old position?
I've recently purchased an XDA IIs (unlocked and used on Vodaphone). Overall very impressed but I am having some annoying problems that I'm hoping for advice on (my collegue has also purchased one and is having similar problems, so I don't think it a hardware problem)
The XDA has just the standard O2 software apps installed and I have upgraded to ROM 1.31.00 WWE (from my-xda.com a few days ago), its say radio version is 1.06.00
Problems:
1) Very unreliable software, I quite frequently (several times a day) have to press the reset button. I seem to have the most recent version from O2. I see some comments on the forum about disabling O2 Active software?
2) I'm using a Bluetooth headset (Jabra BT250), this worked well with my previous phone a Nokia 6310i. Specifically:
- When I receive an incoming call it rings on the headset, if I answer by pressing the button on the headset in generally (but not always) answers with the headset connected as I need. But if I answer by pressing the answer button on the phone (hard button or pop-up menu button) the headset isn't connected and its a struggle to get it to connect mid call. However if I make outgoing calls in nearly always uses the headset correctly. Very annoying an inconsistent behaviour. I'd rather not use a different headset as I like the Jabra and the problems seem to be due to the XDA as it worked fine on the 6310i
- The range is hopeless, people say its very hard to hear me if the XDA is more than a couple of feet away, even turning my head so the Jabra and XDA are on opposite sides degrades the quality badly, I didn't think my head was that thick! With the 6310i I could be at least 10 feet away
- The volume, even at maximum, is too low, especially in a noisy environement like a car. It's much less than with the 6310i on exactly the same BT 250
I hope there are some fixes for this. I think the XDA is a great, really useful all in one device, but the poor relaibility and terrible bluetooth headset support are really spoiling it for me
Regards
Mike
Hi...
I just ordered my XDA IIs..hehe..selling my PDA2k now..love the black color..
Hehe..anyway, my PDA2k was using the BT 3500 drivers and i have the same problem as yours occasionally.
Most of the time, when i answer from the unit (not the BT headset's button), the caller can barely hear my voice.
However if i use the BT headest's button, it was fine...
I was using the Jabra BT250 also..but sold it to get the Motorola HS850..
Both are giving me the same problems...
I've read on several threads where poeple are successful in using the BT 3900 patch (sorry of i'm wrong)..but my PDA2k does not work with the patch..the screen turns garbage n messed up..had to hard reset it
I love this unit..canlive around with its current problems..hehe..hopefully it gets fixed.
Cheers!
The BT problems described above appear fairly common amoung xdaIIs users. Based on my research on this, there are a few things listed below that can help. Listed in order of ease to do. Start with 1 and progress to 5 if you are feeling brave :? or wait for 6!
1. (EASY) Keep your add on "Today Plugins" to an absolute minimum: I have found that SBP Pocket Plus to be particularly troubelsome and had to uninstall it.
2. (NOT TOO DIFICULT) Disable O2 Active: O2 advised me that the xda2s is more stable in "corporate mode" with O2 Active disabled. To do this you will need to back up your device data to your PC and then do a hard reset. As the device boots up and starts to go through the configuration process, you will be prompted to choose "corporate mode". You only have about 5 seconds to say "yes" before the configuration continues and installs personal mode. Select 'yes' and you will be prompted for a code. Enter 0506 (that's zero five zero
six) and tap Finish. You will see the message "Welcome corporate user, O2 Active won't be installed". Your device is now ready and you will have everything except the Active User Interface.
3. (MORE DIFFICULT) Upgrade your BT Stack from BT Build 3500 to BT 3900. Details on how to do this are provide in the companion wiki-developers forum
4. (A LITTLE SCARY) Upgrade your Radio Stack to 1.10 and your BT Stack to Build 3900. If you want to upgrade the radio stack at all, WIKI folks recommend upgrading the radio stack first and then the BT Stack.
5. (MORE SCARY!) Upgrade your BT and Radio Stack AND your ROM. WIKI have posted 1.40, which it seems can be used in conjunction with the existing extended ROM on the O2 XDA 2s. Not for the feint hearted, although the instruction they post for this are pretty comprehensive I must say.
I "talked" to one xda2s user who had gone through to step 5 and most of his issues had been resolved. I am at number 2 right now... Thinking of going to 3,4,and 5, but probably waiting for 6.........
6...?......ah yes...., wait for O2 to post the next full ROM update...
Hope that helps

Chris
Thanks for this. I changed to Corporate mode 6 days ago and its only had one crash, compared to before 5-6 times PER DAY!
Any idea when O2 are meant to be offering the next ROM update (are we talking weeks or months)?
Regards
Mike
I can't not see the 5 seconds page for selecting "corporate mode" when i do a hard reset.
I do hard reset by press on/off button + press on reset button.
Hi Mike
Well, it is supposed to be the end of April, so my guess is that it will be weeks, rather than months at this point. Also, the 1.40 ROM posted on wiki is a WWE version, so maybe this is a 'bootleg' version of what is to come from O2... only a guess on my part here...not really sure of it's origin...

Chris
Hi MR2046
What device and what ROM version do you have loaded?
Regards
Chris
Hi cbrow51,
I use O2 XDAIIs
ROM : 1.31.00 WWE
Radio : 1.02.00
Protocal : 1337.32
ExtROM : 1.31.920 WWE
Thanks

Hi MR2046
The option to select corporate mode comes up close to the end of the install after you do the hard reset. You only get about 5 seconds to say 'yes' and then enter the code, before personal mode continues and installs the O2 Active stuff.
I see from your info that you have the older radio ROM (Current 02 version is 1.06) and a different extended ROM (I have 1.31.139WWE)... Not sure if the difference in extended ROM would cause you not to get this option or not...
I would try hardresetting again and see if you get the corp mode option. if you don't, then you might want to download the latest ROM from the O2 web site.
Hope this helps
Chris
Thanks a lot
But the O2 asia website did not update anything. There is only a small patch for BT upgrade.
BTW, which O2 website you meant?
BT sync and internet access
Hi all,
what about Bt sync/internet access? does anyone manage to do it ? i do not use a headset but i am trying for some weeks to get connected to my desktop via BT - with no results... i upgraded to 3900 just today but it did not help .
the manual of the device is not helpful for doing so...
which O2 Website
Hi MR2406
ah! that probably explains it. Sounds like you have the O2 Asia ROM then, correct?
I am using the UK ROM from the UK O2 web site. I am not sure if you would be able to download the UK ROM to your device, which I assume is of Asian origin..? O2 UK state that you should only download their ROM if your device meets certain criteria. Take a look on the site and check compatibility before downloading / installing.
From the very rudimentary understanding that I have from looking through the wiki site, its possible that you might get some kind of country and or operator code errors if you install the UK rom on your device. That said, there are detailed instructions on how to correct these errors also.
If I were you, I would look through all the materials on wiki, check the O2 site in UK and then decide on the best approach.
Hope that helps

The new update from Jabra has been released for BT800 headset.
http://www.jabra.com/JabraCMS/NA/EN/Misc/SoftwareBT800/
The newest version is 0.34
BUT:
The update is worse than version 0.32!
I removed immediately the update and turned back to v0.32, the biggest issue is the one about the "+" before the number, with 0.32 this problem was solved, now it's present again.
The only good thing in this version is that you can enable both ring and vibration using headset's ringtones, but, since you can no longer call using the headset (for the + issue), I think updating your BT800 with this new release it's not a good thing!
Bye!
Same with me....
And just in case you didn't have the downgrade to v0032 anymore:
the dutch jabra.nl site still has the 0032 release
If you look well the update is only for american users (BT800_02_0034_US.exe). The european sites are still upgrading to v32 only.
Seems that USA version of BT800 is different from european and implement different things.
Fresh news:
I wrote to Jabra USA about this issue.
They forwarded my mail to their product specialist in order to investigate.
Stay tuned...
Thank you for the information. Lucky that I didn't know they have the v0034 update. I am still using v0032.

Just a few questions to those that have already bought
1. Is it SIM unlocked ?My XDA Exec was, so I assume O2 is carrying on the tradition ?
2. How is skype performance over wifi ?
many thx
c.
dunno about the sim lock
to use skype you need to boost the CPU to 264Mhz otherwise it can handle voice on skype properly
its easliy done and when done works perfect
I use Skype with it, works very slow, voice does work kind of delayed.... but still.... intrested to know how you over clock it though?

Do a search for 'omapclock', its freeware. I've got my Orbit overclocked to 264mhz and its much zippier through the menus. I've got skype installed as well but haven't got around to trying it via wifi yet.

Hi
I used omapclock - does it but does not keep it all the time??
any suggestions.
Tried the current Skype Version today without overclocking the device.
SkypeOut works great for me AFTER disabling 3 codecs in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Skype/Phone/Audio/DisableCodecs
Put into the field: ILBC G729 EG711U
That disables 3 codecs.
Calls to the Skype-Echo/Sound-Test won't work - but SkypeOut worked fine for me via WiFi - but only through the hands-free speaker of the phone.
Any idea how to use the normal speaker?

I've posted a question in an Eten forum re using the normal speaker. The X500 has an app that switches Skype from the handsfree to the normal speaker.
Still on Skype, a version 2.2 (beta) has been released yesterday that has been optimised to work on 200MHz processors. Is this the one you have tried, and in this case how is the quality in general?
No, I tried the "old" one from December 11.
The German Skype website doesn't provide the new version yet - I had to switch to the English site.
I'll test the new 2.2 Version this evening.
Anyone tested this app (what's it called?) from the x500 to use the normal speaker?

Re. the X500 I'm hoping to receive a reply as to what registry settings need to be changed, and I've also asked if the CAB with the app can be extracted. I'll post the reply when I receive one.
EDIT: StiflersMom - When testing Skype 2.2 could you please try without/with overclocking (if indeed you overclock) and tell us about the separate results?
sooooo, have you unlocked your artemis? i have a MDAc 3, and it is still unlocked, can somebody help me? Please!

I read somewhere that Omapclock settings are lost after switching the phone off. Try BatteryStatus instead (freeware). Despite the name it has several other options, including cpuspeed settings.

Just plonked my Orange sim into an O2 XDA Orbit and works fine so looks like they are sim free.
I have used skype lite version over GPRS. it worked, and i was able to talk to other ppl, but the gprs speed is very slow so my voice was crackling a lot, while other person's voice did come in a bit clear.
will try with wifi sometime soon!
Just used Skype 2.2 over Wifi to my land line and it was as good as any phone no issue so far any way. Pretty sure i wasnt overclocked at the time. I was happy enough to load up £10 quids qorth of credit ( though seems scammy to buy 10 quid credit and have to pay 11.50 :/ inc tax.
Does anyone know a tester to test stabillity of the overclock ? its really dangerious for me i cant help but keep trying a higher oc had at 280 for 5 seconds before i chickened out lol only had less then a day
I have the 3.1 ROM with cube thingy and it has a, um for lack of better word menu bar, i press and hold for a moment to access the options. There you can set the OC to stay on always.
I dont know how far too push it ( i overclock everyhting any way i used to over clock my crt monitor lol ) but without stabillity test i am abit worried i'll screw the rom or somthing.
FYI on the overcloking the hotter it gets usually decreases the mount you can overclock stabally, this prog also shows temp, my one seemed perfectly stable at 247 @ 40c quite warm i had wifi going full and was streaming radio, also shows power pulled its pretty damn neat... i am luvin my orbit i have had it almost 24 hours now lol nd thanks too all the good work done by people have it pretty tweaked and close to near how i want it very quickly a hours instead of days n maybe weeks so thsnks
Ed oh i baught mine off ebay it was a month old when i got it and it was sim unlocked but not CID unlocked. payed £200 seems good to me concidering the tomtom i baught as a prezzy forsomeone came in over £100.

Update for HTC Touch Pro2 for Caller ID Display Release Date: 2009-09-16 Category: Hotfix
This update for the HTC Touch Pro2 lets you, your friends and loved ones become closer, making receiving calls as personal as greeting them in person.
Note:
This update can only be applied to ROM version 1.20.xxx.x, otherwise the update will fail.

I wonder what this update really does though. I just installed it. But I don't notice any difference with the incoming-call or in-call screen...
didnt understand what this hotfix is for ? any of you installed the update and can tell me the diffrence you see?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but when did the 1.20.xxx ROM come out - the latest WWE one I found on the HTC site (or in the XDA wiki) is 1.19.401.1.
Any idea what the 1.20 ROM changed?
Ed
1.20.xxx.x ROMs are not out yet. I'm guessing the first one would be the anticipated official WinMo 6.5 upgrade ROM. They really should just cook this "hotfix" into the ROM since it's not even released yet...

Thanks, I wondered whether 1.20 would be the 6.5 ROM.
So were you actually able to install the hotfix, if you're still running on a 1.19.xxx.x ROM?
In any case, I think I can hold off until 6th October before worrying about CallerID!
Ed
this at least means 3 things
1) that winmo 6.5 is coming out... sooon!
2) that they are already ready with the new ROM update but are sitting on it till October 6th.
3) that they are plain lazy to incorporate the patch into the update in the days between today and October 6th..
very weird things are happening at htc... can't 1.20 be a new rom BEFORE wm 6.5 comes??
i am on sprint tp2. When I go to settings>Device Information>ROM Version..1.21.......
This mean I have newer version..Or What.
I am on a WWE 1.91.xxxx ROM but the hotfix installed anyway.. And I can't find any difference either.

The ROM on the T-Mobile version is 1.20.531.4 [51986] WWE.
still dont know
well we still do not know what this fix is for?? anybody knows??
cant see any changes in caller id??
My Verizon TP2 has a ROM date of 8/15/09 and a version number of 1.18.605.12.
I imagine that the versions are carrier specific. 1.18xxxx could be the latest version for VZW and 1.19 might be the latest version for some other carrier.
Right?

Hopefull....
I've got a tmobile tp2 and it is a stock ROM dated June18, 2009. It is 1.20.531.4
I'll install this later today and reply back about whether i notice any difference. I'm hoping that this will fix voice command. currently (on my device) it does not announce caller ID info though the speaker or through bluetooth.
My old TP (AT&T Fuze with ROMeOS rom running on tmobile) would announce the name of the caller (or the number if they weren't in my phone as a contact). Then I wouldn't have to pull out my phone to see who was calling.
I hope this fixes that. I'll install it on my drive into work.
I'll let you know if fixes the MSVC bug.
Dissapointed
See my previous post above for my device/ROM info.
It didn't change anything with Voice Command announcing caller ID.
If after a soft reset if fixes anything, i'll post again. I didn't notice anything different at all.
Voice Command Caller ID
how do I set voice command with caller ID in tp2? Is that function available??

I've searched for the answer to that question and came up with nothing. I can't imagine why, since the running gear is not that different from the regular TP (and that worked for me in the past). I think there was even a problem with that one, but a fix was developed and released here.
I'm assuming you are wondering why the phone will not announce the caller ID info (either in you bluetooth headset, or out of the speaker of the TP2 itself). It should speak the number that is calling, or the name if they are already in your contact list. If anyone finds the fix for this bug, please post it in this thread, so that we can be informed of it.

"Phone" is checked in the settings.
If I touch the options button, all I get is "Announce calendar reminders" and it is checked.
I'm running v1.6.21.21051 that came with my tmobile branded TP2.
I also have a Sprint Touch (HTC Vogue) running v1.6.19209. I have the settings set identical in both phones, but the TP2 won't announce calls with MS Voice Command.
I love MSVC, so I hope i find a version that works... or a fix...
