have the Siemens SX-66 made for Cingular (but I unlocked it and am using T-Mobile) and I was curious if I was capable of sending/receiving MMS messages? If so how do I send them and how to I set it up to receive them? I can easily send/receive text messages.
Another curious thing is when I go into the "messaging" section it has 4 default folders. One is "Outlook e-mail" (which makes sense) and "text messages" (which also makes sense) but for some reason by default it gave me TWO folders named "MMS". First off, why do I have two and not one of those and second how do I either to work? Can I delete one so I only have one and if so how?
THANKS A TON!!!

NO, but below you ask why you have MMS folders ? You would need that to do mms'ing. (in and outbox maybe?)
Goto the TMO homepage, find the MMS settings, have them sms'ed to you, accept the incoming settings from TMO & PRESTO.
There is a manual way to set it up as well, RTM (read the manual & TMO specific settings)

I just got the Cingular Siemens SX-66 (using T-Mobile through it) and while setting up the simple things on the phone I noticed somewhere (and now I just can not remember where I saw it) but I saw either an access point or connection setting for MMS and it still said something that had something Cingular related and I would like to find out what the correct setting is. What is it and where do I go to put it in again?
What is the difference between SMS and MMS?
In my messaging section I have a folder for Outlook mail, text messages, and for some reason 2 MMS folders? Why 2 identical folders? Should I delete one and if so how do I know which one is the correct one to get rid of?
THANK YOU!!!
I recently tried the Palm SMS Threader CAB, and it works great on WM6. I'm using JJ's Black 1.2, and it runs flawlessly. If anyone wants thier text messages in thread form, then try it out.
I couldn't get the CAB to attach for some reason. It's under 5 megs. Here's a link for it.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WO8D3YG5
Note: For me all I had to do was drop the CAB to my phone and run it from there. It worked, and still works after soft resetting. However, there are actual steps to copy the files and over-write the Messaging ones in the ROM. The steps can be found in the Hacking and Developing forum if I remember correctly. If ya need help finding the steps I'll post a link from the treo forums. I'm using a Cingular 8525 on WM6, and it works great. -fin
Here are the install steps from another site. Like I said. I'm using an 8525 on JJ's Black 1.2 WM6, and all I needed to do was drag and drop the CAB into my phone. Open it and save it to the Storage Card, soft reset, and I'm all ready to thread!
Here's the install info.:

I have found a bug when i use it in that the soft keyboard covers part of the text space which is a little annoying. Otherwise, its great.
Hmm. I'm not having that problem. What kind of phone do you have? I just checked mine to see if that was also happening, but wasn't. That's weird, but yeah, I agree, this little app makes text messaging a whole lot better to track what you say to somneone and when.
Below are settings and setup that works for me. don't do much mms bit the sms works just fine.
1) run the .cab, Soft Reset.
2) edit the registry to rename HKLM/Software/MS/Inbox/SVC/MMS1 to MMS1OLD, Soft Reset. Otherwise you still see MMS if you click your email hard button a second time.
3) Go into new SMS app, Menu, Options, Advanced:
Msg Center#: +13123149810
Email Center#: 121 <--this lets you send sms's to email addresses
MMS gateway address: wireless.cingular.com
MMS URL: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Network Profile: MEdia Net
4. Delete Start Menu/Programs/Inbox(1) folder.
I totally missed changing the settings. Thanks. I was using my old MMS to send them instead of the one in this app. It's originally setup for Sprint. Thanks again!
thanks for the new settings, helped a lot!

anyone knows the setting for T-mobile USA MMS?
let me answer my own question:
T MOBILE SETTINGS
Message center number +12063130004
Email center number is 500
MMS gateway address is 216.155.165.050:8080
MMS URL is http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
T-Mobile UK Palm settings
In case it helps anyone, here are the UK T-Mobile settings for this app to send/receive MMS:
Message centre number: +447958879879 (should pre-fill when you've got a signal)
Email centre number: blank
MMS gateway address: 149.254.201.135:8080
MMS URL: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
Network profile: Default
Then don't forget to amend the MMS1 to MMS1old in the registry (see post above).

Do you mean the notification of when you get a msg? Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications, drop down to recieve new SMS, and make sure no audio file is selected. Is that what you're lookin for?
I'm having a problem sending an MMS with this app. It keeps saying the same error. Like copuldn't send message due to ActiveSync, or a in coming call interupted it. If I use the old MMS app it works fine. ??
MMS doesn't work through this app from what I read on PPCGEEKS, so I changed a soft key to link it for faster navigation.

Any way you could upload the extracted files so I could try your steps?
Am I the only one?
Hi, I've been lurking around since I got my 8525 in December. I've flashed just about every flavor on WM6 ROM that has come out. So far, I have not been able to get Palm Threaded SMS to work on the two versions I've tried it on. I've tried it on Black 2.5 and Custel 2.5.
I'm currently running Custel 2.5 and have errors that read "cprog is not a valid program file" and "tmail is not a valid program file". When I have the cprog failure the radio does not work and I have to hard reset to get it work. With the tmail error every thing works normally except the mail/sms functions. I use SPB Backup to save me the agony of the hard resets but really miss the Palm threaded application. I loved it in WM5 and have considered going back just to get it to work.
By the way, I have followed all of the instructions in the Treo Central post referenced above.
Thanks for any help.

storage card
is there a way to store sms from the Palm Threaded SMS to the storage card so that when i flash and change the setting back i can keep my texts?? PIMBackup backs up only the regular SMS not this one?? or at least does anyone know where the texts are stored so i can copy them before flashing and put them back?
thanks.
i've recieved some mms messages, where/how do you view the picture attachments?
When I open the MMS application on my phone and select the message I want to view, the left soft button is named 'objects'. Press it and the message is divided into audio, text, and image. Click on the image to view it. Click on the right soft button called 'menu' for the save option and/or assign to contact.

i don't get anything like that. i just get prompts to 'download' the message in mms (nothing seems to happen when i do), but also get a link as a text message to view on t-mobile website, which i can.
from memory...a few months ago a friend had the same situation and when she called T-mo support they said her account was not set up to receive MMS messages. I can't remember if she needed to subscribe to be able to download them to her phone. Like you said though, they were available on line on her account page - or, something like that.
I was curious about this upon seeing your message so I went to T-mo's website (did you?) and read the following:
"Why do I receive a link instead of the picture?
Before being able to receive a multimedia message, you must first send a picture message, which sets up your Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card on the network for picture messaging. This is referred to as provisioning. Please send a picture message before attempting to receive a picture message. For more information, go to Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)."and this:"Users must use an MMS capable device and be provisioned within the Multimedia Messaging System Center (MMSC) to send/originate MMS messages. Users become self provisioned when an MMS message is originated and sent from the user's terminal. By sending an MMS message, T-Mobile auto-provisions users for both mobile originating and mobile terminating MMS messages."
I'd be interested to know if you send a MMS if you can then recieve them without adding any services to your account for extra $.

tried the above, still no joy. has anyone got a cab file to install t-mobile uk mms settings and necessary gprs etc settings?
Have you searched the forums for it? You have to know you are not the very first person looking for it. I found this. It says it's for wm2003 & wm5 devices but I'd still give it a try. I've been using the same cab file for USA Cingular/AT&T since back to wm5 for sure and even probably 2003 on several different devices, except the latest ROM has a network wizard built right in so it wasn't necessary this go round. I'm pointing you to that particular page 'cuz they have the settings for several different countries and it's a nice bread crumb to leave behind for anyone else who searches for the T-mobile gprs settings cab. Hopefully it's a good link and the cab file works for you.
BTW, I found my way to that by searching the XDA forums for "t-mobile UK gprs cab" (without the quotes) and the second result had a link to a link to the page. That's just the route I took. There are a full 10 pages of results, I'm sure the cab you desire is in there somewhere if the link I gave you doesn't work out.
From that search I did, the 9th result led to a "Call for Operator Settings for ALL NETWORKS" right here on XDA. Since you are looking for the MMS settings for T-mobile UK, you would be particularly interested in post 8 in that thread.
Hope one of the links gets you where you want to go.

Hi all,
Been loving the Desire so far but this evening I got an mms from a friend, presumably showing me his own new Desire, and while the messaging app shows an unread message waiting it doesn't seem to want to download it.
The picture messaging settings seem accurate in the network settings so I'm at a loss as to what's up. This is all via T-Mobile, as per the subject, and everything configured itself when I put the sim in.
Any ideas?
I'm on t-mobile and receive and send mms mostly okay but there have been occasions where my mms wouldn't send at all. tried a different picture and it worked. I've had problems with mms and t-mobile on my iPhone before I got my Desire so I think it's a problem with t-mobile not the Desire?

You need to enable mms for you account, they are not included in the contract and thus you need to activate them online or by contacting them if it doesn't activate when you receive or send an mms.
All good suggestions, thanks.
I checked my account online and it's set to allow picture messages. I also just sent a picture to a friend, which arrived fine. I did notice that it disconnected from the net both before and after sending, so I'm thinking it's using different settings to send them.
Under Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names it does actually show two connections. One called T-Mobile Internet and one called Picture Message.
They're both very similar, except the T-Mobile Internet has no username/password set and no MMS server details. Also the APN type is set to "default" and "mms" respectively. Wondering if I should try combining the two...
Fake Edit: I just asked the same friend to send me a message back and this time it worked. Guess I just need to keep trying every once in a while to see if it happens again.
T-Mobile accounts generally are enabled for MMS to begin with, but to finalise the settings and actually activate it, you have to SEND an MMS. This activates the service.
Once you have done that, you can then normally receive.
if you hadn't sent an MMS before this, that is probably why.
Yeah that could be it, too; although I'm sure I'd sent MMS messages on my Touch HD before (same SIM). Ah well, it seems to be working for now at least! Thanks again all.
If you're using Handcent for sms / mms, that might also cause your issues...
Hi all,
Does anyone have MMS working on Myns warm donut (specifically o2)?
I find it confusing, it has automatically loaded 3 apns, how do I set one of them to be used as MMS?
Thanks,
I do, but then again I use T-Mobile. If you're going to use MMS, install Handcent SMS. It's way better at handing them, and I can actually attach videos to my messages.

Handcent sms is a cool program, thanks for the rec.
You can assign what each apn does as there is a option for apn type, but I still cant download my o2 mms =(
