Someone successfully got this to work?
Some links to information i found, but i dont get anywhere with the SECROLE_MANAGER role, how to override rights, or in someway change relevant policies:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...licySettingsForWindowsMobile-BasedDevices.asp
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...esdk5/html/wce51grfsecuritypolicysettings.asp
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...bilesdk5/html/wce51grfCertificateStoreCSP.asp
I have both Qtek 8310 and 9100 trying to make this work, ..i successfully get it to work with a 2500$ Versign Certificate, ...but for testpurpose, i don't think i can afford that much :-O
Any reply regarding this is much appreciated.
PS! And no, you can't use the tools or hack that worked om WM2002/2003 ;-)

Pussig
I have no problems synchronizing WM5 with SSL secured Exchange 2003 Server, using my own certificate (certificate created using private Certification Authority - CA).
You just have to add your CA to the trusted root certification authorities on WM5.
1. Copy CA certificate to WM5 (domainname.crt)
2. Rename it to .CER
3. Install it
VOILA!!

hi,
i have noticed that O2 has "mobile solutuions o2 active ui" installed in it by default, i love this user interface and would like to install it on my PDA2K runnig latest WM5 with patches... i tried copying the directory file from an o2 device onto my pda2k but it didnt work...
so is this UI available anywhere to download and will it run on the i-mate pda2k??
regards
try this, it is from the o2 1.40 rom. i installed this on the t-mobile 1.40 rom and works perfectly, you could try it, if it dont work, then just uninstall it
if it does work, id like to know if it does, cos i might go back to WM5.0
if you go to the xda dev ftp site.
ftp://xda-developers.com
follow the following path
ftp://xda-developers.com/Uploads/Blueangel/O2_UK_XDAIIs_WWE_14000_237_11200_SHIP[Extended_ROM]/
in that folder, you will find the file named, Install.arm.cab
this is the cab file to install o2 active.
to access the ftp you need to log on with xda as both user name and password.
hey jo,
its nice to c someone willing to help, cheers...
unfortunatly, where i am currently, i cant access ftp, and this is the only place i have internet access around here (am not home... business trip), so its either untill Feb that i will be able to access it or someone can upload it on http...
regards
Hi All...
Can anyone supply me with a certificate for signing a custom application and the installation cab that will install without any problems during extended rom setup?
I see around several "signed cabs" for customisation but to create my own i need a valid certificate (disabling security does not work, cause even if i manage to install the cab, my app does not work unless it is trusted by WM5).
Any help is welcome. Thanks...

I will try that and see.
Hi all
I use a Trinity WM6 (bepe's rom) and I would like to use the WAP Portal of my Service Provider (Orange Switzerland). I can access the portal, but it's only a text based browsing. All WM5 Orange branded phones or Nokia phones can access the portal with picutres, nice colors and watch Live TV.
As my Trinity is not Orange branded (they don't even sell it here in Switzerland) I can't access the colored portal and can't watch TV
I tried changing some registry settings like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings\ 5.0\ User Agent\Default -> Wert: Mozilla/4.0
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Internet Settings\ 5.0\ User Agent\Post Platform -> PPC; 240x320; SPV M3100; OpVer 12.16.5.111
As you can imagine, Orange ignores these settings and still recognizes, that I use a Trinity and not a SPV M3100 (HTC TyTN).
Does somebody knows, what I could do to "pretend" that I'm surfing on their WAP Portal with a SPV M3100?
Any help and hint is very appreciated!
Cheers
Jarvis
I <think> it is something to do with a special configuration file within the Orange ROMs. Updating the ROM removes this file, so preventing access to OW
There have been a lot of posts here and on Modaco about trying to access Orange World (the 'enhanced' WAP site), but I'm not sure if anyone found the fix.

Hi Neil
I don't know if this might be the reason. All Nokia and SE phones (unbranded) can access the enhanced wap portal. On an older WM5 version you could do the registry change and that worked out to access OW.
I've had better luck in
HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent
The key to change is Custom
Try using some values from other similar devices on your network
OW

Hi questin,
Thank you for this hint! After months of trial and error now it´s working.
Thanks again for your help.

After upgrading to WM6/6.1 on my Gene, I am unable to connect on ActiveSync and everytime I open a SSL page on IE I get a "server name mismatch" warning.
Find below my mail to the Gene upgrade discussion. Please comment whether you have heard of this issue and what its resolution could be:
- Is it an issue of the ROM not having been cooked properly?
- Is there a patch for the same or is downgrading to WM5 the only option?
Thanks,
spmohapatra

OK, I've moved from the WM6 ROM to the WM6.1 ROM, followed all of Orefkov's instructions and am pretty much in the same state. ActiveSync wont connect.
Some observations:
- ActiveSync throws up an error with each connect (Support code: 0x80072F06)
- When I view any SSL site (like https://mail.google.com/ I get a security warning saying names don't match)
Getting the dreaded 0x85010013 error in active sync using any 6.1 or 6.5 ROMs. I have tried many by joss, kareem, TAI and even PVDVH, all giving the same error.
It is well known that 'fixing' the exchange server to permit non provisionable devices would work, but many of us can't do it (or request IT to do it) in enterprise environment. Only WM6.0 is supported by them and we are not 'permitted' to use other devices or OS.
From what I have read (multiple sources), the fix is either some encryption DLL that is not in these ROMs or some registry value incorrectly set or perhaps missing certificates. Over the past week, I have tried flashing at least 30 times between the new ROM (I like TAI 21198 light) and cingular 6.0 standard to identify differences with no end in sight.
All 6.1 and 6.5 ROMs work very well for me with exchange 2007 activesync with Hermes. I manage exchange server 2007 and non-provisionable devices are not allowed, but I do have to accept enforcing policies whenever i configure activesync. (device settings in exchange server 2007 is set to allow all)
Thread re-opened as reason for closure was unknown.
Best regards,
Flar

How do you go about accept enforcing policies in activesync. I believe the remove wipe policy is set by the registry entries for password and # retries, both of which I had set correctly
And, I think one of the 6.1 did work well, it was V11 build, dont remember whose build was it
Solved
Finally solved.
The problem exists in all ROMS 6.1 and 6.5
Seems to be some registry settings. The solution is running the program specified in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485091 (program is http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=160764&d=1235554974)
Not sure what key the program sets, but activesync works perfectly
Can I request the cooks to include this patch in the ROMS when they cook them

I too have had similar issues with Outlook 2007 Exchange. The solution that eventually worked for me was deleting the: Inbox.mst29979151.29531540304 folder and all files with in on my SD Card.
Until I deleted this folder and files, I could not sync (OTA) anything with active sync.
