I've had Black Majik installed for a few days now and its great... however I don't seem to be able to send or receive text messages. I'm on Orange PAYG and I've done the usual checks: credit, text and voice service numbers... other versions of Black seemed to work fine, am I missing something? anyone got any ideas?
I also have black majik and have issues with SMS. When I initially begin to type it lags alot. What could it be????
I don't know. Using the same ROM, have no issues with SMS or MMS, and I installed the Palm SMS Threader CAB that was condensed. Love the chat-like style.
oh word? where did you get that? maybe the change will do the trick...
nevermind i found it...
I would like to know how xda-developers would prefer things done around here;
Would they prefer new threads be started for all possible issues, or would they prefer posted issues be made in the thread that is already dedicated to that Rom?
For example; if I was to have an issue with Sleuths Rom, should I start a new thread, or make my post in the existing thread?

I just started to get this problem having previously been able to send and receive OK with the Black MAJIK ROM. So what had I changed? I tried a few soft resets but every time I tried to send a message I got a pop-up with something like "try again in 15 secs phone not ready".
I have a large number of Today plug-ins so tried turning them all off but one - that Fixed the problem. For me the test messaging issue has now gone away. Maybe too early to suggest this as a fix but given that many of use with this ROM may be using the HTC Home plug-in and other plug-ins too it might be worth simply turning most of them off and trying again to send that text.
BTW - this all assumes that you had text messaging working at all with this ROM. You must configure the OS so it can send and receive texts form/to your phone provider. There are plenty of .cab files around or you can make the settings manually.
Hope this helps.

I suppose that it all depends upon whether you can accurately link your problem to a particular ROM. Many will have the same problems across ROM builds and posting just into that single post would not get the wider exposure. Of course if you are sure, or strongly believe, that the problems you are encountering are caused by the actual ROM then it is worth posting there. A good bit of searching is often the best guide because it is probably rare that you are the first to find a problem.

Does anyone have this for the T-Mobile Dash?
i can really use it as well please
After reading this thread I was almost ready to start making a cab for it.. but then I though.. .is it REAAAALLY that hard for you guys to setup your connection after your install a ROM ?

Haha they could use my sig to go to the t-mobile site and have their connections setup... it takes literally like 5 minutes to do... and it is step by step instructions...
And for all you the link is called "T-MOBILE FIX ANY MMS ISSUES (SENDING OR RECEIVING), FIX INTERNET PROBLEMS, E-MAIL, ETC. CLICK HERE"
cant someone just make a T-MOBILE FIX ANY MMS ISSUES (SENDING OR RECEIVING), FIX INTERNET PROBLEMS, E-MAIL, ETC. CLICK HERE.cab
But i'm using NRGZ's Lite ROM and it does not have connection setup.cab and it doesn't have what your guide ask for. I don't have advanced at the GPRS step.
T-mobile fix any mms issues (sending or receiving)
Could it be that because i'm using Ricky & Stylez Rose rom V1.7 ? Because I reset my phone last night and redid everything(again),then sent an mms to myself and to my wife and it showed that it was sending but we never got the mms. I know that sometimes it takes a while but 20 hrs. seems a little to long. If anyone knows of anything i'm doing wrong please let me know. I've tryed every post i've seen up to this point and none have worked. Thanx in advance.
first off, I have just used the "connection setup" on the girlfriends Dash and hers works fine- not to say it will definitely work for everyone but worked for me...multiple times in the past and recently.
the one thing that doesn't work...ever...is the send/receive button. It always ends in "error synchronizing" -If that is what is failing it is normal. Just send a test pic, and then try to get someone to send you one. Make sure they are on Tmobile to get a speedy transaction- I have had MMS to other carriers take a few hours before.

MMS-Error Syncing
I am using the vanilla V24 rom on my T-Mobile Dash and have manually setup all the settings that I could find regarding ToMo WEB, T-Mo Zone, T-Mo VNC, and T-Mo MMS. I have successfully sent and receiving SMS. But MMS does not work. I receive Error Syncing everytime and have waited for over 3 days to receive. I can not offer any solutions, But can offer an alternative. If you have the T-Mobile Total Internet Package, you can setup an email account, i.e. gmail and use that.
mms problem solved
The cure was easier than i thought. Went to t-mo web site and loaded 6.o. No more issues with picture messaging, web or anything else for that matter.
Hello, I wanted to share a very interesting problem with my Dash that I experienced and finally defined yesterday.
I have a Dash, on the T-mobile network, on which I installed the Ricky and Stylez Rom about 6 months ago. Since installing the Rom, I would randomly see the phone light up as if it were about to receive a text message, but then never receive one. I never really thought twice about this, though it had never happened with Kavana nor with the Tmobile software. A couple months ago, it came to my attention that I had missed text messages from two people in the same day. Occasional missed texts are normal in my experience, but I found it odd to miss two in the same day. I asked both people to resend the texts and still didn't get either. I then asked one to resend hers and sat there watching my phone. All of a sudden I saw it light up but never show a text. I asked her if she had just resent the text, and she had. All other texts were coming through normally. I then asked the other guy to resend his, and the same exact thing happened - it lit up, but never showed me a new text. I asked them to rewrite the texts in new messages and send those.. still didn't get those so I thought maybe it was something with content. I called both and had them tell me what they were trying to write. The only similarity was that both texts had the word f*ck in them. So I asked them to send me just the word by itself.. and I received those messages. I couldn't figure anything else out, so I ignored the problem for now.
Last couple days, I started getting interested again as I was also trying to deal with some memory issues. I started having people with different phones on different networks send me messages for variations of the word f*ck. In sentences, by itself, capitalized, not capitalized, at the beginning or end of messages, and so on. I even tried sending myself messages. The entire experimental period, the phone would always light up, but never show me the missed messages. I also called T-mobile tech support to see if they could help me, eventually being forwarded all the way to third level support, which is their engineers. All the experimentation along with the help from T-mobile finally narrowed the problem down to me not ever seeing any messages with the word "****" in them, in all lowercase letters. "****in", "****ing", and all combos with "****" lowercase in them would never appear in my inbox. This would happen even if I sent them to myself, though I could send them to others no problem. Any alternate spelling as well as capitalization let me receive the messages. This problem was repeated with ATT, Sprint, Tmobile, and Verizon senders. Tmobile did everything from turning my texting on and off, checking all possible filtering, and sending test messages with the code they have that lets them know if it was delivered or not. They were able to tell me that the messages I was not seing WERE being delivered. So the problem was with my phone. I checked every single menu and nowhere could I find any filtering.
At the same time, I was trying to deal with a memory leak, and stylez had suggested I do a hard reset for that issue, so I thought that maybe I could get at both problems. I did a hard reset yesterday, and both the memory leak and the "****" problem still existed just like before. I then tried reinstalling the Rom from scratch. The problems still existed (both, though this post is focused on the "****" problem).
Finally, last night, I installed the ricky version of Kavana... and I have to say both problems are gone. I now see all my texts, including those with the word "****" in them. I also no longer am having a memory leak. With the other Rom, I text so much that I was having to reboot once every few hours, or with really heavy texting, as often as every 15 minutes. Indeed, after reinstalling Rose last night, I actually had to reboot it within 15 minutes of doing an initial hard reset because of heavy texting.
Just wanted to share my VERY unique problem. Nobody at tech support had ever heard of anything like it and I've certainly never dealt with anything like this. I do have to say that the memory leak DID exist in my case, even after re-installations and resets, with Rose, and now it is gone using Kavana. Anyone can send me a whole message full of "****"s now too and I get them unlike before. I liked Rose more but I just couldn't accept not receiving those messages.
Anyone else have such a crazy problem? I didn't find anything through a search so I figure it is something unique to me.
Thanks for reading! Would love to hear your unique problems or whether anyone has experience this legitimate and real problem I was dealing with.
I'm glad I choose kavanas ROM to keep, or I'd be missing out on some late night texts! Although I do get the phantom text sometimes. Personally I think its just a bug in the OS.
wow, that is bizarre! I use Kavanas ROM so I can not test this myself. Any one else want to try this on their Rose based ROM?
EDIT: I forgot I have NRGz Rose ROM remade by Ricky and Stylez on my other phone and i can confirm that the word "****" can not be received via SMS. Wow, that is really really weird. Good thing I dont use that ROM or I wouldnt get half of my txts.
Very interesting... Good find magic, this may help all the people experiencing the "phantom txt/phone lighting up" issue. I wonder if there are any other words that wont go through.
I thought you had lost your mind... but sure enough, I do not recieve texts that have the work "****" all lowercase. I have tested from several different originators as well.
wierd.
Thanks for the confirmation guys! It's good to know I am not crazy nor did I do something myself to cause this. I reread my post and just wanna clarify that what this post is focused on is the filtering issue. Me and stylez have some disagreement on the memory leak (which I can say does exist on all versions on some level, I just have more problems with some than others) and I don't want that disagreement to eclipse this other problem. So I officially am laying off the memory leak now and would like to focus on the filtering since I was able to pinpoint it and we have confirmation.
I don't know if any other words can create the same filtering to occur.. this was (sadly lol) the only word frequent enough for me to realize it. It'd be nice to get some more confirmations... though it appears this is legitimate. What's the next step? Any ideas from the developers on what's going on?
Glad I could help track this down guys!
Confirmed...... that is really interesting. In addition, I realized that I have not received any MMS messages the past couple days, so I tested it here at the office with about every provider imaginable, and no MMS messages received. I have a co-worker with stock rom and he can receive the message fine that I was not able to receive.
I love the Rose Rom, but unfortunately I have to switch back to Kavana
Will test this tom when got time, find it interesting that the phone will filter, i'm damn sure my gf would have used that word more than once...
What is interesting is you all seem to be T-Mo that i can see your network.
Will post results.
Stylez, I may have found what is causing this behavior; it's just doing what it's supposed to do. In your SMS Pack (SMS Tools) >SMS Filter (SMS Firewall) it has [run] xxx and [run] **** preloaded. I deleted both and will try tomorrow, but I think that that's the problem. Seems like an easy fix, but won't know until I test it. (prematurely pats self on back)
Also, sending MMS has been fine and only took 15 seconds to send with delivery confirmation. Will test receiving tomorrow.
PS, diggin' the rose rom. The thing has run damn near flawlessly for me.

aussiedog nailed it. Open the SMS Pack and then SMS Firewall. The word "****" and "xxx" are preloaded on the firewall. Can not test right now because im late for work and dont want to change my SIM card into my other phone!
Cant believe I didnt think of this, I remember when I first installed the ROM I saw that those words were there

I haven't used MMS since the flash, but after seeing your post I thought that I would give it a try. I had no problems sending, but found out that I also was not receiving any MMS's. I went to T-Mobile's site just to double check the settings and found some discrepancies between the two. Although I had T-Mo MMS settings on the phone, the "Connects to" was set to T-Mo MMS (in the drop down) and not wap. I thought that it shouldn't make a difference, but it did. I made a couple of changes (ie changed to wap, added the ip address, etc.) and tried it again. Voila, I received a MMS in less than a minute. Thanks bupahs for the link.
Setting up the handset
1 On the handset press Start.
2 Scroll to and select Settings. Note: you may need to press More to see the Settings icon.
3 Scroll to and select Connections.
4 Scroll to and select GPRS.
5 Press Menu and select Add. It should already be there, no need to add, just press and edit
6 In the Description field, enter T-Mo MMS n/a
7 Scroll to Connects to and scroll horizontally to WAP Network. Do this (change from T-Mo MMS)
8 Scroll to Access point and enter wap.voicestream.com
9 Scroll to User name and enter I left it blank
10 Scroll to Password and enter I left it blank
11 Scroll to IP address and enter 216.155.165.50 Do this
12 Press Done twice.
13 Press Menu and select Advanced.
14 Scroll to WAP connection and scroll horizontally to Automatic.
15 Press Done.
16 Press the end call button.
17 Press Start.
18 Scroll to and select Messaging.
19 Select MMS.
20 Press Menu and select Options.
21 Scroll to and select Account Settings.
22 Press Menu and select MMSC Settings.
23 Press Menu and select New. No need, already there, just press and confirm settings
24 In the Name field, enter T-Mo MMS n/a
25 Scroll to MMS URL and enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
26 Scroll to WAP Gateway and enter 216.155.165.50
27 Scroll to Port and enter 8080
28 Scroll to Connect Via and scroll horizontally to WAP Network.
29 Scroll to WAP Version and scroll horizontally to WAP 2.0.
30 Press Done.
31 Highlight T-Mo MMS, press Menu and select Set as Default. Should already be default
32 Press the end call button to return to the main screen.
The settings have been applied and are ready for use.
33 Soft reset (reboot) for the hell of it.
Note: This is for the Dash (s620) with NRG's Rose ROM 1.7 remade by Ricky and Stylez and I have a full data plan on TMO US. Also, I may have left out a thing or two since I did this without noting the original settings, but if you follow the guide you will be fine. I had known about the other posts, but since all the other T-Mo settings worked fine, I had assumed that the MMS settings were good also.

I also had to do this using Kavanas ROM. The "Connection Setup" wizard only does half the job. I suspect that this has nothing to do with Kavana or NRG, I think it is made by HTC and for what ever reason it does not setup the phone 100% correctly.
I didn't use the wizard, I just manually checked and changed the MMS settings already on the phone and worked fine for me. The other settings for text, internet, etc. already preloaded on the phone's rom were fine to begin with, MMS seemed to be the only problem.

Oh, well then of course you have to setup the phone. Any ROM that isnt an official T-Mo ROM will require the phone to be setup. There are step by step instructions on the T-Mo website that I followed and later tested and they are a-o-k
Not sure what you are saying, does it work for you now? Also, of course you have to set up your phone when you initially load the the rom, I am just stating that the preloaded T-Mo settings in the 1.7 rom are slightly off in regards to MMS. Hope this helps with others that were experiencing not receiving MMS's, but could still send.

My phone lights up.. but that never happend to me man.
I am having a problem with text messages. Every outgoing text message is right, but every incoming text message reads an hour earlier than it really is. So if someone sends me a message at 4pm, my phone says it is received at 3pm. It's really annoying, and it messes up then entire list of messages from a person. Is there anything I can do about this? I have the Energy Sense Rom.
Anyone had this problem??
Hey, I run the Cookie Energy ROM and OCCASIONALLY on a new flash the time stamps will be messed up. What fixes it for me, is enter your time settings (click on the clock in the HOME Sense Tab) and pick the time zone, then manually enter the correct time and it typically fixes it inside the Sense Text Client.
However, you can also use something like SMS-Chat, which runs faster and cleaner. But occasionally freezes. I'm not sure how to fix this. But just a suggestion. Cheers
I talked to Rogers techs and they reset my phone settings from their end and still messed up. Then they blamed the fact that it was an unlocked phone. I told them that the last 3 phones I used on their network all unlocked and showed the correct time stamp. I also attached an official answer from HTC.
Who am I supposed to believe?.
HTC answer:
Thank you for contacting HTC about your Touch Pro 2. I understand that your text messages are coming in four hours off. I wish we could be of more assistance, but your carrier stamps the time on those messages. This has happened for years on the Rogers network. There is no setting on your mobile device that controls the time stamp you receive. Some Rogers-branded devices have a hot fix available that accounts for the Alaskan time, but the T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 doesn't have a patch available for correcting this issue. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, but I'm glad I could offer some insight into this issue.
Still confused?!?!?!
Just to add a little more confusion to the topic. My friend and I both bought Tmoblie phones. He a HTC HD2 and me a HTC touchpro 2. I had them unlocked . We put our Rogers sims in our phones and his text time stamps are right on and mine our 4 hours behind. I now believe its a Rogers cell tower problem. IF anyone out there has seen or has a soluiton it would be greatly appreciated...seeing that i get 50 to 100 textes a day, it gets confusing when the times are off.
Thxs
Its the rom it self, I am on virgin in Canada and with certin roms my txts times are messed but with some there not, try a different rom.
After 3 days of searching the forums I found a fix that works with all HTC phones. I used it on 2 HTC phones, HD2 and Touchpro 2 with great success. All you have to is download the small cab file to your computer copy it over to your phone and extract it. Thats it.....
Thxs to Dangerously for the fix. I added the link to the thread which has the cab in it.

The Energy ROM FAQs list this fix:
Wrong SMS Timestamp: If you are receiving text messages (SMS) with the wrong timestamp, what may cause them to be in the wrong order, a solution was posted here.
Hey guys, i bought the international Note 2 and i'm using it on AT&T about 2 days after getting the phone i stopped getting SMS, I can send them but i cannot receive them. I swapped a sim in the AT&T store and it worked. 3 days later same problem and now getting a new sim didn't help. I can receive MMS and send MMS or SMS, I just cant receive regular SMS messages. Does anyone have any clue what the problem might be? Thank you in advance.
If you use different languages, make sure you set the coding of SMS to Unicode in the settings menu of SMS.
Other than that, check if you have this message center number: +13123149810
If still not working, someone else needs to chime in
Check your APN settings, settings->more setting -> Mobile Networks->Access Point Names.
Make sure these are setup correctly I wouldn't just rely on the phone gathering these automatically.
Are you on the stock ROM or have you flashed a custome ROM?
If you have flashed a custom ROM I would suggest doing a full wipe and re-test.
If that doesn't work I'll look at getting a new phone.
Hey man dont worry about that. My friend has a galaxy s3 international and had the same problem. It has nothing to do with setting or differents roms. It att issues. What he did was call att, after a couple of days the phone began to receive sms then again tue same problem. He called again and i am not sure what they did but after 24 hours the problem was solved. So just call them and see man.
Good luck

So does anyone have any insight on this topic or a solution? I have done a factory reset twice and even called At&T with no resolution. My phone was working great till a few days ago.

I have an international Note 2, also on AT&T. Post your APN settings and I'll compare it with mine to see what is the difference.
I'm having the exact same issue again. First time, I did a hard reset, and it resolved the issue. I don't feel like doing that again, so i'm on the phone with AT&T right now and we'll see what they say.
so... AT&T cannot determine why this is happening. I took my sim card out of my phone and put it in another AT&T branded phone (the GN2 is my work phone), and once I did, all text messages I missed came into my phone. I swapped the Sim cards back, and now it works as intended, and I'm receiving text messages again. The tech is calling Samsung now to see if they can offer any assistance.
Seems like whatever the issue is was resolved when I swapped phones. I figure it'll work for a week or so, as it did last time, and then will stop and I'll have to swap Sims again to perform a quick fix.
any Telecommunication guru's out there have any idea?
