Hi.
Can someone please reccommend me some good e-shops that sell the "blue angel" or a similiar version phone? The phone must be sim-free and in English.
Thank you.

Try www.expansys.com. They sell SIM free xda IIs disguised as " i-mate PDA2K Pocket PC", as well as xda II alias "i-mate Pocket PC". It may be worth while to check the prices in different locations - they seem to vary a lot. A list of places offering the xda IIs can be found in http://www.expansys.de/error.asp?exit=015&data=I-MATE_III.
You also may considering deShop.
They've got the Imate version and the Qtek version. They also got a lot off accessories for the devices, like cases... they're really the only shop I found with so much accessories!!
I bought there the Imate PDA2K, the Piel Frama case, brodit holder, and just made I new order for the Imate JAM, brodit holder and an alucase for the PDA2K.
They 've nice services and very good prices... even shipping to Belgium (this shop is located in the Netherlands)
Good luck with your search...

Can someone tell me if the T-Mobile MDA Compact III is wi-fi.
I notice from other forums which state that this version is not wi-fi enabled
Shouldn't be too difficult to edit the registry settings.
Buzz, Maimach We need you, Help !!!
Doesn't look like it, it isn't mentioned in the manual.

The HTC p3300 has Wi-Fi standard onboard. Local telecom providers however, are able to choose if they want features like Wi-Fi enabled or disabled. T-mobile Germany decided to sell the MDA Compact III with WiFi disabled (maybe to boost the GPRS usage?). T-mobile The Netherlands decided to let the Wi-Fi feature enabled.
I have a dutch T-mobile MDA Compact III, Model nr. ARTE110, that has WiFi enabled. Bought it btw for EUR 209,- + 15,75 monthly fee, which makes EUR 398,- in total .
Maybe the WiFi feature can be enabled/disabled by tweaking the registry or using another ROM?
And does anyone have suggestions how to unlock it?
hi rjs_artemis,
can you give a link to a website where you bought it? is this offer also available for non netherlands residents? I am living in Belgium so that I might go to Maastricht and check that wisely
Greets
EDIT: Btw is the t-mobile in the neths in Dutch or English? regards
EDIT2: is it locked on t-mobile or unlocked?

I bought it at the T-mobile Online Shop, see here
other option is http://www.smartphonestunts.nl/index.php?tid=181
And yes it has a Dutch WM5 and it is locked.
As mentionned on the following link https://www.t-mobile.nl/persoonlijk...ab=Relax&ratePlanId=269&contractPeriodId=1030
the price of the phone shall be 239.95€ with a 15.75€ flex t-mobile abonnement and not 209,- like you mentionned. Therefore the total price reaches 428.95€ and not 398,-, reason why I asked you where you bought it.
Anyway price is still attractive but if you tell me the device is locked on t-mob neth, it doesn't worth one penny for my own.
Regards
btw for the old fellahs in here, do you know if pdaphones might be phisically unlocked like mobiles? I think it could be done but need confo
would be a nice opportunity then
T-Mobile MDA III
I had a reply from T-Mobile UK yesterday saying the UK release will not have Wifi.
However I read that the Wifi is all on board on the main Chip
Texas Instruments OMAP 850
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a850
If thats the case then would another ROM not re-enable it?
Or do you recon it's a custom Hardware?
I'd like to stay with T-Mobile for Web'n'Walk but If i cant have the Wifi I'll go elsewhere
O2 I think is due to release the Orbit 27th Nov.
Might wait for that as I assume the package will be better that the ones Expansys is offering on O2 or vodafone with an HTC branded unit.

We are both right. T-mobile raised their prices for the MDA Compact III at the Online Shop. I ordered it last friday (03-11) for 209,-. On tuesday they raised prices with 30,95, so now it's 239,95 with a 15,75 contract.
Unlocking will be possible very soon. For example see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-282156.html
aye sounds promising
I'll wait before buying until I have some confo about that..
still the question of keef related to the wifi is really interesting... if any has made some tests on an uk or dutch t-mobile version..
T-Mobile Mda Compact 3
Ref Wi-Fi embedded in chip !!
Hi Guys
I have tried to perform a rom update on my Mda Compact 3 using the HTC P3300 latest rom but the compact was having none of it.
It appears to 'drop out' after 3 per cent stating 'incorrect device'.
This is not the usual "incorrect vendor id" so I guess updating with a wi-fi enabled rom is not possible
Why have T-Mobile skimped on this essential feature is beyond me !!!

Quote from that link
"All-rounder
The MDA Compact III is a fantastic all-rounder. It’s a dedicated navigation PDA with GPS and TomTom Navigator 6 software preinstalled. It runs on the powerful Windows 5.0 operating system. The Compact III is very user friendly as it has a mouse. Control the cursor with the miniature trackball and use its silver dial as a scroll wheel. Keeping up with your emails is simple and you can surf the internet with web‘n’walk. It has128 MB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for expansion, plus a two mega-pixel digital camera with zoom, flash LED and video capture, an MP3 player, FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB cable connectivity."
Anyone can tell me what the Brasilian settings for data have to be?
I intend to travel whitin 3 weeks to Brasil and want to add a local sim in my Trinity but wants to use the GPRS or UMTS (when availeble) aswell I don't mind about which operator cause I didn't bought the sim yet.
Thanks in advance
Willem
The Data Settings are different for each operator. so Search first an operator and then have a look ont his internet site which DataSettings you have to define... You must go allways over a Provider authentication for gprs and there the most are with a password protected...
It's also important to have a look wheter provider is most cheap for your needs.... Calling outside country or only localy or what ever else... like mms, sms, data...

Williem, try this... I've been there for two years and my operator there was TIM... Pretty good for call but no EDGE, no UMTS, no low cost packages for connections...
Thanks
Thanks a lot
My idea was already to get a Tim chip, I don't now is it a long time ago that you where there, cause I have been there 2,5 year ago to do a trip at the Amazones and in that time I had al the time free dataconnection whit my M1000 Orange phone I bought in that time a Tim prepaid chip and could get straight away acces, last january I was in south Brasil with a Wizzard and could't get acces to the dataconnection at all neighter with my Dutch chip or whit a Brasilian chip.
I think 2 years ago it was still in trail and in January there was a full operational comercial connection.
I am realy curious about the prices which you paid for your data package there.
Regards
Willem
Williem, I stayed from August 2005 until end of March 2007 in a city close to Sao Paulo (Sao Jose dos Campos) and there was no problem for the GPRS connection. At that time there was an interesting option but only for the WAP trafic. Since when you connect our jewel to surf internet, is like a normal modem, they do not consider as a wap or mobile connection... My personal experience for maybe 2Mb payed 270R$ (or something like) = approx 100€ ... Then no more connections
This was in last december, maybe now there is something new...
You can try to look at here: http://www.timcelular.com.br/
The international calls, compared with our italian fares, is very cheap: with Voda chip, is 3€xmin, with a local TIM chip was 2R$ x min (0,75 - 0,80€)
The settings here attached are tested in a Qtek S100, Qtek S200 and with the P3600.
Some time the MMS connection is not available, but is not a setting problem, is an operator issue with their network expansion program...
Um abraço !!!
Just to inform that...at least in São Paulo, TIM has EDGE.
I live in Brazil and I can confirm you that we don't have UMTS. But there's EDGE at least in all the capitals. I can confirm you that data accesses are still expensive, specially if you have a pre-paid phone.
If you have furthet questions, feel free to contact me.
Hi,
I'm using an Himalaya (XDA O2II). I'm going to buy a Softbank X01T (http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=769) or Toshiba G900 (http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=707) from Japan. They actually are the same with different brand names.
They are the next generation of Softbank X01HT - HTC Hermes 200 (http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=651)
I have some questions:
- Are they considered as Hermes?
- Is there any English ROM for it yet? The one I'm going to buy should be in Japanese
- Do you think the HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker which works on X01HT will work on X01T/Toshiba G900?
Hope anyone can help to answer
Thanks a lot

Its not made by HTC, so no way is it a Hermes. The next generation of the Hermes is the E-monster (Kaiser) put out by e-mobile. I wouldn't think any of the unlocking options for the Hermes would work on the X01T, so don't expect them to work. Flashing a Hermes ROM could most likely brick the X01T, so I wouldn't recommend you try.
Why Softbank? Check out the E-Mobile Kaiser ( https://store.emobile.jp/spec_emonster.php ) much more fun, I'm sure!!
Try this forum for a start for info on the X01T anyway: http://mobgad.ath.cx/modules/xhnewbb/index.php
There's been ONE guy out there that has successfully flashed his Japanese Softbank X01T ROM to English. The link is here. http://myg900.com/index.php?showtopic=700
But be careful. I bricked 2 X01T's following his instructions. I'd just get a pimped out 3G phone in English or an unlocked G900. Don't get an X01T. It'll save you hundreds of bucks.
Thanks hamster0914 and flint24 for your info. I prefer to buy an unlocked G900 in English. Do you know where I can buy 1 in Japan? I've searched http://www.expansys.jp/, but it's strange that they stop selling it
that's ok in my country INDONESIA there was many people use SOFTBANK X01HT, and sucsesfully unlock...^^
Were the phones unlocked by the dealers or the manufacturer or by the buyers?

I too have successfully changed to an English rom on the X01T (Toshiba G900) and so have a few others. (Thanks to other people's hard work)
However, finding out the Softbank internet modem connection settings to get back on the internet isn't so easy, although the rest of the phone works fine.

Dear Jass,
If this works for Rub147 would you be so kind to serve me as well?
Thanks in advance (even if your answer is no ).
I will wait for your answer before I send you a PM.
Some other questions to everyone who's interested:
- Can this Phone be Rooted?
- Can you run another UI than the Vodafone one (i.e. Launcher Pro, Sense, etc.)?
- Alternative ROM already (Think not)?
I think this might be a super phone (for just 99,- euro's in NL: Wifi, GPS, camera, HSPDA, FM Radio, etc) if it can be tweaked, hacked, rooted and so on. With HTC sense as UI it will be a big hit , but the Launcher Pro beta (free) will do just fine instead of Vodafone UI.
Good luck to everybody
Hello,
How far are you guy's with creating an unlock code? If you succeed I'm interested too. And also willing to pay for it.
