On my BA there were some tools to do this. I am assuming that they have not yet been created for the universal yet (unless I am missing something?)
I tried the BA ones (nothing to loose), to no avail.
On my BA, I always used to cherry pick what I wanted from the extended rom post install.

currently you can't unlock the extended rom, but with totakcommander you can type /Extended_Rom on the commandline and you'll see the content of the folder. You can start the .cab files from there or copy them to the SD card.
You can't copy anything back to the extended rom.

hey Buzz, got my exec this morning.... wow it's actually not that much bigger than my old xda ii + the keyboard is cool.....
list of things we need :-
ext-rom unlocker
keyboard skins
all the other cool stuff you do
can't wait
BTW the o2 gui is bollox, we need to get rid of it asap.

Yeah... Dopod from Michael (mwang) arrived today as well, but they want me to pay the custom fee... oh well...
So it is now blocked at the post office and i have to give them proof of it's price.. hmm.... or something like that...

Yaeh, i know the feeling about customs charges, i bought a Top-Gun style leather jacket from the US and it cost me an extra 54 quid on import tax and VAT
Anyway, you'll love the universal, it is so much better than the old xda ii, even Mel (the missus) likes it.....

I've had that before, and not far from you either
I buy a lot of stuff from eBay, but all the customs crap (not just the fees, but all the paperwork and delays) made me limit most of my purchases to the EU. I still get stuff from the US, and the far east sometimes, but mostly just items with small (declared) value, that can slip through.
There I come to my point: I see that you have to provide a proof of the price like I had to. Since I had a private ebay purchase, I could only print the receipt from the website. As most of the gadgets I got were very uncommon, a few times I took the liberty and changed some numbers on the receipt. Nothing outrageous, of course, but still. The cumulative 8% import duty +25% VAT pissed me off a lot...
You might want to consider this if they ask for half your kingdom...

I finally got my XDA II today.
So I join the club again. I really felt lost with out my XDA..
I bought it in HK and sent it over to NL together with an nice Blue Tooth headset of Logitech.Paid 637 Euro for the XDAII.

But still if you have to pay 19% is ok. (Im not sure that the import tax is for this item. (between 4 - 14%)

If you really want one, why not just go buy from Expansys. Oh, yes, because it'll cost you a stack of cash and you want one for half price. And you think someone here who paid that stack of cash just a few weeks ago will sell to you for cheap...?

Hey, chill, there's no harm in asking, is there? Besides, if you want a discount, eXpensys is the LAST place you should be looking. Try Clove.co.uk - an excellent reputation for service and currently listing the 3300 nearly £60 cheaper. Or, wait a few weeks, and try your luck on eBay. I'm sure there'll be some around when the Christmas credit card bills come rolling in and folk are regretting the impulse buy - or they decide they simply cannot get along with the Rollr...

I'd just like to say I advise AGAINST using tom codon's Hard-SPL (unless you have a pressing need to flash) as it's not based on an MFG, the one I'm releasing of course, *is*

Hate to ask the noob question oli but what is the difference between the two i.e. mfg and non-mfg. Does mfg mean yours is based off of the manufacturer's spl??

mfg has extra commands in the bootloader. these are not in shipped spl's i dont think. probably in the wiki somewhere. commands do thinks like hard reset, format the nand, and other stuff..

i came across an application which says in the readme how it can unlock the hermes and the htc s620.
i got it off ebay for 1.50 pounds so i couldnt resist.
anyone heard of something which can unlock the hermes and s620 via the bootloader???
its called auto unlock v3a.bat.............
obviously i havnt tried it.

i havent heard of that software. ive only heard of nextgen.. try it out and let us know how it goes.

I had it sent to a friend's address in London as I couldn't risk loosing it or getting it stuck at customs here in Istanbul.
So I flew to London just for a day to pick it up from my friend )))

Couldn't you just buy out HTC for that money?
I like to be the first to own some things and there is cost for that which I am willing to pay.
I remember flying to Germany to buy the Sony Ericsson P1i on the first date it was ever released......
The funny thing I went in the morning and flew back home the same day and the German police at the passport control couldn't understand why I would fly to another country to buy a phone and return home the very same day, he tought I was upto something else

But anyway , thinking of buying and ordering the the thing are two different things. You may think of buying TP2 but but decide on a Nokia N97 for example, this could affect the outcome of the Poll When you bought it or ordered it, you could vote here
