DVD, VCD TO POCKET PC FORMAT CONVERTER - General Accessories

ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD FREE DVD CONVERTER TO POCKET PC FORMAT?

try any peer-2-peer network, dont support that kind of thing myself of course 8)
I have pocket dvd wizard (legal of course) works well, just takes ages to convert so be warned

It doesnt mean he is asking for cracked when he requests free. There are many free programs that will do this freely avalable on the web.

Realise that, but still free and as I dont know of any free open source apps I suggested what I know and what will probably be the results on 90% of standard google searches
Gotta say tho, slightly more helpful than stating "yes there is some" but not actually identifying "what and where" dont you think? Just like shaking one of those balls that mysteriously answer any question you ask it, without really answering it, o perhaps thats what you did

I HAVE DOWNLOADED THE DEMO FILE NAMED "EASY DVD,VCD CONVERTER " AND IT PERFECTLY WORKED. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE SYSTEM IS LOCKED FOR JUST 5 MINUTE- CONVERSION. HAS ANYONE EVER BOUGHT THIS SOFTWARE? CAN YOU PLEASE SHARE IT TO US. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS!!!

There is a software by ashampoo that I've been using for the past year. It can convert VCD's in DiVX for playback on your DVD player or even your PDA. It works fine and it only costs some $20 USD. Try this side:
www.ashampoo.com
As to the crack of the DVD converter I could look for it and let you know. Is this the proper name of the software?

Pandora on Windows Mobile

Anyone with an iPhone want to hack the Pandora application and see if we can get a version working on Windows Mobile?
You cant just take something from the iphone and port it to window mobile. I have been waiting forever for Pandora on my WM phone, but now I have it on my iPod......so I wouldn't hold out any hope that they will come out with something.
Yeah, I know - what I was hoping is that someone with the application could help us figure out the streaming protocol it uses, and then we could write a WM app to do the same thing. Maybe this is too difficult.
Sounds like a great idea. If it works over wifi the network traffic can be observed etc.

Huh? What does that have to do with the original question?
I wish. I love pandora but I can't have it on my phone. One real thing I am jealous about.
i've heard it works with the skyfire browser...but I'm getting the feeling I will never get into that beta. Isn't there a AT&T pandora program? I believe it's a pay to use feature however.
Maybe we should get in contact with the guy who made the standalone windows pandora app, seems it would be much easier to "port" that than an iphone app...which was a terrible suggestion by the way
Skyfire does not work- I have it.
I did email pandora just a couple of weeks ago and they have no plans to support the PPC
Have searched for the ATT install cab but no luck.
I FOUND THIS
i think it already works on some sprint phones as ic on this blod
http://blog.pandora.com/pandora/archives/2007/05/pandora_for_spr.html
There's a Last.FM for Windows Mobile that someone made, it's similar to Pandora. A quick search should turn it up/
Im going to open up pandora and shift though the code, and possibly write an WM6.1 application to intercept and login to their database just like the website.
-This is just an attempt, i will let everyone know the progress as it matures.

awesome! hopefully you will have success! can't wait!
Well it seems after 3 hours of reading code and downloading every external javascript file, and decompiling the flash files, it turns out that Pandora has an API that isnt being released in wide array. And to my dismay, after 3hours, and not knowing enough of the AS language, i chose to wait until the Pandora APIv2 is publicly release (it has been release to a very few 3rd party companies - yahoo is one for example) to revisit pandora for wm.
-sorry, but like i said it was an attempt.

Thanks for trying
At the risk of sounding dumb, here are my half assembled thoughts lacking necessary sleep...
I know Alltel runs BREW, though I'm not sure about Sprint and ATT (not likely). ATT has more than just the iPhone running Pandora, and I'd assume that these phones are all running the program in Java. Otherwise the devs must like doing more work than necessary, or Pandora is trying to find a way to lock this down and make some money.
Is it possible to pull the program off a phone and run it on a WinMo JavaVM?

My thoughts exactly. Does someone have a RAZR, or another supported AT&T phone, who can visit the URL Pandora sends you?
(which is http:///www.pandora.com/att?)
It seems like Pandora might be a java app. If that's he case, it could easily be pulled from the phone's filesystem, once the "right" phone visited the website and downloaded the app. I'd try it myself with my old RAZR, but my wife nagged me when I upgraded and I threw it away.
EDIT: Yeah, I tried it also. It seems like the stock WinMo 6.1. JVM doesn't support some DRM-related features, so the midlet won't run.
I have the Razr V9M (My old phone). I can see if I can get the file(s). Someone needs to walk me thru which files you need and how to get them. If you want to compare files. If anyone is still trying to get this to work...
Pandora on my phone would rock.
Pandora Application on WM6
Did anybody else attempt to put Pandora in a .cab file besides Zeezee? Looking forward to find out if someone can do it for the WM6 and upload it somewhere.

Dear Steve Ballmer and Microsoft (WP7 Related)

Dear Steve Ballmer & Microsoft,
Before I begin my rant, please allow me to say that I have used many many many PDA phones. And WP7 has without a doubt, some of the most GLARING problems I have ever seen in a mobile OS.
My phone history (in no [particular order]:
-T-mobile Pocket PC (the 1st one)
- SE P800, P900, P910I
- Xperia X1
- Many different WM 5.0, 6.0 6.5 phones (maybe 10 or more). If I were to list them all this would take all day. My most recent WM phone before this HD7 was the HTC TyTN II.
- Nokia N93i, N95, N900 (still got it)
- Nokia Communicators 9210 and E90
- Iphone 1st Gen
- Kyocera Palm OS phone
- Probably other stuff I forgot about along the way.
(Btw, all of these phones had address books which worked great)
I am in no way saying that I am some PDA expert, but I think its safe to say I've used alot of PDAs.
Good afternoon. I really hope somebody from Microsoft or Steve himself or some MS dev is reading this.
I recently bought a HTC HD7 and after using it for 1hr my initial impressions were very good....THEN i used it a bit longer and I started to realize something.
Cons:
1. The contact list function is really really bad. You guys replaced the standard address book function with the Facebook contact list. It is horribly bad. It is so bad that it leads me to believe that NONE OF YOU have actually used facebook in your life. If any of you developers were actually familiar with Facebook, you would have realized that most consumers definitely do not want 80% of their Facebook contacts cluttering/polluting their cell phones address book. Also, why am I not able to browse through my Facebook contacts photos? Am I missing something? Why cant I simply just tap the portrait of my facebook friend and look at his profile pictures?
2. The WP7's media playerss seek function needs to work like a STANDARD portable TOUCH SCREEN media player. Why am I not able skip to the part of the video I want to watch by simply sliding my finger along the time bar until I reach my target moment? Why am I forced to press a seek button instead? I thought this was a touch screen phone, not to mention the fact that Pocket PC, Pocket PC 2003, WM 5.0 WM 6.0 WM 6.5 all included this missing function. Do you guys even watch movies on your cell phones? Or are you guys still using Nokia 5200s?
3. Xbox Live is buggy as hell. I download a game through Xbox Live and it says I need to connect my phone to my computer or connect to wifi (It was already both) in order to complete the install. There is no easy way to check the progress of the installation of download unless I try to download another application. Is the ability to check the progress without downloading another app hidden somewhere? If so, why is it hidden?
4. When I try to visit a previous webpage and I press the hardware backwards arrow botton, it kicks me out of IE.
5. The hardware buttons have great sensitivity, but I am constantly pressing them by accident (with my palm), thus closing my active program unintentionally.
And let me tell you, I do not have large hands.
6. I dunno why it doesnt work as a USB drive natively. Perhaps this is some sort of piracy control measure or you are trying to mimic apple.
7. Cant copy and paste. I dunno why this is so hard for you guys. You guys could have some sort of hardware button, that when pushed activates a 2nd function to the screen pressing. Instead of clicking on a link, if the hardware button is pressed, it would allow the user to select the letters and highlight them. Then copy/paste somewhere else.
8. I cannot delete/hide my recently browsed youtube video history. I was looking at videos of girls shaking their butts and afterwards when I went to my zune application, I saw the video thumbnails there! I cant delete or hide them? Where is the privacy?
9. Doesnt support Divx codecs, which it should because this is a phone for a "mobile life style". Why would I want to sit at my computer for hrs waiting for my videos to convert? Why do you guys and apple insist on your own proprietary formats?
Sub-Score: -9
Pros:
1. Works fast, very smooth. Is this a result of the reduced interface .
2. Web browsing is pretty good, except I cant fast forward through youtube videos by sliding my finger on the time bar.
Sub-Score: +2
Total Score: -7
I do not believe this phone is beyond saving. Surely you guys must have noticed some of the things I mentioned. Why you did not remedy these issues before the release? I do not know. If you guys were unaware of the problems I mentioned, well now you know. Please fix these issues soon and FFS, please add a proper address book application and allow me to use my finger/time bar to seek through a video/song/youtube vid.
Currently, I would have to say this phone is nothing more than a portable media player with some phone functions built in. And you guys already screwed up with the media player part.
If I could go back in time (which was only yesterday) I would have bought a HTC Desire HD. But I cant so I can only pray that you guys fix some/most of these issues.
If I am sorely mistaken and some of these functions actually are included and hidden somewhere, why are they not intuitive?
Thanks.....for nothing.....
I always liked the N95 symbian address book that allowed me to create groups for my contacts and I liked all WM previous phone dialers which would cross reference all incoming and outgoing calls with the numbers I was pressing.
Microsoft should atleast make a dialer thats as good as their previous ones, and maybe learn a thing or 2 from Symbian.
Edit: I just read that it was possible to cut down the number of contacts from facebook that appear in your phone, but it still should not be this difficult. I should be able to simple long press the contact and select delete or hide.
Nice One Star thread repeating issues in about 20 other threads
One thing I'd like to agree with the OP about is the Capacitive buttons. They're a good idea in theory (the Vibrant has them as well), but they're practically terrible. They are very prone to hitting by accident.
Lots of OSes can learn from Symbian, but being the Jack of All Trades has not worked for any OS to date. Windows Mobile also supported a ton of stuff and it's marketshare in the US suffered a lot. Symbian has great marketshare overseas because the OS is used in low-end feature phones as well. They aren't strong in the mid-high end smartphone market.
And they would be, if they didn't put such small NANDs in the phones, skimp on the RAM in the phones (it uses a Virtual memory architechture, but the phones still need at least 348 MB RAM, IMO), and have such an embarassing user interface. I really like that it has the most flexible development environment of any smartphone OS, though (similar to [again] Windows Mobile on that front).

1. There's a separate Facebook app in the marketplace. If you don't want to integrate everyone, get it.
2. Agree on this point.
3. Never happened to me. If you want to see the progress stay on that page. A little bar begins to fill up. So I don't know what you're talking about.
4. Only time that happens to me is when I exit IE and then try to come back in.
5. Sorry, but that's user error.
6. There's already a workaround. You can use it as a mass storage device.
7. Its coming in the update. Why is that so hard to get?
8. Don't browse inappropriate videos? Or play a few more things after to make it replace the history items.
9. Kinda agree, but its not unheard of at all. So why would they do it?
EDIT: Poster above was more succint.
The problem isn't DivX as far as I understand, it's avi. Divx is just an implementation of MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile, which is supported. And the strange part here is that avi is Microsoft's own proprietary format, while mp4 is Apple's. Strange times.
Scrubbing is needed not only for long videos, I use it all the time for YouTube and music (especially podcasts, many of which aren't properly separated into chapters).
WOW, only the 20th "I hate WP7" thread for today so far? Hmmm, the trolls are slacking.

Bet your house on that. Our society is getting dumber, lazier and more malleable by the minute. Though I digress...
LOL... This guy's not a troll!
He's genuinely disappointed with his purchase and has every right to complain about it. If you WP7 sympathisers were honest with yourselves, you would recognise that there are currently plenty of problems with this platform, and disaffected users have every right to complain.
There's no point pretending the problems don't exist.. it's obvious they, perhaps you only ever read Microsoft blogs and listen to Channel 9. If you want a true indication about how many users are feeling, just read the Microsoft questions and answers forum.
Guys,
This is still a new OS, it's been out for ONE month, many of these things gonna be replaced or added with updates. Just wait and see. The most important thing now is that's a fast and simple OS. Just remember what ****ty phone iPhone was, look what it became now... Time does miracles!
Alright guys, I'm leaving this open thread to know the answer, if it occurs.
And also for others to vent, but we will maintain an acceptable level before they start fighting funboys because of companies.

Agreed,
Unfortunately I have the feeling that most people here now refuse to see the obvious problems with this platform (no USB, no DivX, and so many others...)
Seems like there is no right to judge and criticize the OS.
We shall not become like the iPhone fanboys. Seriously.
I also think that WP7 is a truly disappointing experience as I don't like to be forced to use all these external MS services (Zune, Skydrive, Marketplace, etc...) that just make me waste my time.
And I expect nothing from the so-called January update.
I love threads like this. Keep em coming lol jk. But man the pole jockers in here have fits when anyone say something about wp7. I dont know what everyones country rules are. But mine is freedom of speech. So if the dont like what the guy or troll have to say, dont feed him. Case Closed.

[Q] The best true (non-cloud) audio streaming apps?

Hello all,
In light of the recent congressional events regarding ("shhhh") downloaded music, I am now in the wanting to play it safe mode. At my age I have more too loose.
What I'm looking for is the best home to phone streaming app that does not also utilize web based streaming like Audiogalaxy and Subsonic. I am now using both of these but would like to see if there are any alternatives which...shall we say...'are more private'. Simply an app that does not require any website registration but only needs ones own IP to access music.
I would also welcome discussion on the legalities of steaming already downloaded music (home to phone).
Thanks for any thoughts on this topic.
Edit: Now trying Gmote. Can anyone recommend a better one?
Just use Grooveshark.
if you have a daap server at home, say itunes or WDLXTV firmware, there is a simple daap client in the market that works well

Thanks for the reply. After trying Gmote for a couple of days I've decided to ditch it. It tends to start/stop too much on a 3g network, and the UI is horrid. The daap server sounds interesting. If you could recommend one that will work on either XP or W7 I'll try that...assuming there is such an animal.
Is there any app to stream live radios station ?
I move from WM to Android, and I would like to know if there is any app to stream live radio station Wm normally use WMP, but android doesn't support Wmp
please if some one know something about it point me to the right direction.
there are ways to use VLC to do it.

Not yet, have looked that one over a bit. Gmote lags too much on 3g so I'll try Homepipe next. Oh yea, and my Bucs almost came back on your Ravens last Sunday. If only Freeman had started his "famous" quick offense earlier.
@dsuare021979 For music streaming try:
Pandora (unlimited access is 36/year but has the best quality sound IMO.
A Online Radio (the "A" is part of the app name)
iheartradio
Last.fm
Thank you for the help, but none of them work with the radio station I normally stream
MEGA 97.9 NY. I hope we get an app like wmp soon.

Checked into Homepipe a bit more closely and it's another type that requires a website registration, which is what I'm trying to avoid. Gmote is what I'm looking for, but it's too buggy for me. Guess I'll keep looking but use Audiogalaxy in the meantime. I like Subsonic but on the EVO it has a tendency to repeat the first song all the time. Anyway, thanks for the input.
Just a question to see if you know something that I don't... if you go through and Retag all of your mp3s there should be no real way to see where they came from... ripped from your own cds or otherwise.... at least that's my opinion. But maybe you know something that I don't?

My only experience with re-tagging is to get the files to look right in Audiogalaxy. I collect alot of "Greatest Hits" albums and most of the tracks each have their own album tag. I wish I knew the answer to your question for my own benefit. Anyone else?
I finally found and app that let me stream any radio stations around the world, ( RADIO TIME ) it work great

[Q] Bluetooth woes

Hi ,
I am a fairley new user of the HD7 after coming from a n900 and a Hd2.
I struggling to like the HD7 to be honest. I thought the N900 was a pain and again this HD7 is in the same league.
Why is nothing simple? I had a nightmare with contacts ,office docs .......even transfering epub files. I now want to bluetooth a lot of pictures over and yes I am struggling. I really dont want to give up on this phone..I love the speed and smoothness, but I want it to do the simple things as well. I cant even get my HD2 to recognised the HD7 ,all it comes upp with is there is no services i can use.
So is there a work around for my blue tooth problem is there one planned ........
Many thanks.
I really wish illiterate people wouldn't buy phones. It's all over this forum, the internet, the phone manual that you can't bluetooth pictures/files with this phone yet. You need to transfer the pictures to your computer and move them over through Zune. I honestly don't know what the struggle is there, or with office docs, as the Office integration is flawless...

You need to transfer the pictures to your computer and move them over through Zune. I honestly don't know what the struggle is there, or with office docs, as the Office integration is flawless...

Hi ,
I am a fairley new user of the HD7 after coming from a n900 and a Hd2.

To actually answer your questions...
Level 0:
Read this thread and all other stickies in the WP7 subforums before you ask more questions. The old people here will be a lot less hostile.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816501
Level 1:
To get partial access to the filesystem through windows explorer with zune sync (similar instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844396 ). This will at least let you get epub files on.
•When the registry editor opens, drill down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB
•Press Control+F to display the registry search dialog
•In Find What, type zunedriver -- uncheck data box to make searching faster, then click Find Next
•Regedit will jump to the correct key -- now you need to click to the Device Parameters key above it
•In the right pane, double-click ShowInShell and change its value from 0 to 1
•In the right pane, double-click PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell and change its value from 1 to 0
•In the right pane, double-click EnableLegacySupport from 0 to 1

Level 2: install chevron to begin sideloading apps and you can do things like use total commander, which gives you bluetooth file transfers and full filesystem access. I can't do this (I have an LG phone, so totalcommander won't work yet).
thanks is there a link for chevron and total commander thanks.
There is no way you've had time to complete even level 0.

the Windows Phone 7 site is not confusing, neither is the big sticky at the top of this forum. The possibility of this being anybody's first forum ever visited are slim.
Teaching a 'newbie' how to edit the registry to access the file system is worlds more complicated than drag and drop from Zune...
thanks for the help people.......done level 1 ok havent read level 0 call me inpatiant sorry....anyway thanks everyone.
ok phone is now unlocked done some reading and now have a better understanding............all I need now is the total commander file........cant find it any where. Any help will be good.
Many thanks
come on guys help me out someone must know a link for total commander....the only ones I can find are .cab files.......struggling to find a .XAP
Please guys be kind.
Many thanks
You see what I mean? afaik there isn't a total commander for WP7, nor should there be... I believe TouchXperience is what you're looking for...
the reason I asked for total commander was it was suggested I could bluetooth pictures with it in a previous reply.....will i be able to do this with this? If not is there a hack or app to allow me to do this?
Anyway,
Many thanks
WP7 currently does not Bluetooth files, no matter which App you use. Bluetooth is there mainly for use with Headsets atm. Who knows what NoDo may bring though....

My gripe isn't with you mainly, I was just trying to solidify my point of how much more difficult it is to try and have users use homebrew solutions. I personally recommend Zune for any and all transfers.
thank you man
thanks for all the guys ....you been brilliant....
Many thanks

Using Disney Inifinty Base and Figures to play movies.

Hello everyone! I have no experience when it comes to how nfc works, especially when it comes to the Disney Infinity base and figures, but I had a really cool idea when thinking of my friends young son. I was wondering if there was any way to get the base to speak to a PC, so that when I place a figure, it would play the correct movie associated with that figure.
With my limited knowledge, I would assume you would have all the movies ripped to a drive on your PC, then once you figure out how to get the base to speak to the PC, you would run a script or program that would recognize the figure and then play the correct movie, so a Buzz Lightyear figure would play Toy Story, a Baloo figure would play Jungle Book, etc.
The kiosk in the stores worked in a similar way, it would play a demo video when the figure was placed on the base, I was just wondering if there was any way to do this at home. It would be cool to run something on a HTPC so that the little ones could grab their toy, place it on the base, and their favorite movie would start playing automatically.
Any advice on what to research would be greatly appreciated.
Alright, so I'm pretty late to the party, but this isn't going to be possible without drivers for the base under Windows. Oh wait, they don't exist.
It DOES work as a generic HID device under Windows, but with no way to activate the device, good luck even parsing the raw input.
Best course of action is a USB sniffer with a console. You'll need to read the init process from the console, and then replicate that. Then it's just a matter of reading the data sent back.
I'm not sure if the codes on the figures are unique, but I'd guess they are. You'd have to have some fun getting dumps and matching them up to what the figures are. Nobody seems to care about Infinity. Most people care about Amibo, or I guess Lego Dimensions.
Then, once the hard work is done, you'd just launch VLC with the correct video file as an argument.
