Hi,
Is it possible to buy a sim free XDAIIi, which can be used outside UK.
I checked with the O2 shop in London, and they said they only sell it on with a plan, which means Sim locked.
If it is available in any country, i can have it bought.
It is still not available in Hong Kong and O2 Asia Pac says they have no clue when it will be launched.
Thanks for any advice.
Best regards
Khawar

Near the bottom.
Although it is sim free you will have to check with them if it is locked or not.
Hi guys,
I bought my 02 xda or Wallaby in the UK and it ran beautifully using 02 as the phone network provider.
Now I live in Australia and I can't access the local OPTUS intel provider as the phone keeps asking me for a SIM Lock (unlock code) which I don;t have.
Can anyone help me overome this problem?
Thank you in advance.

I bought an orbit on Tuesday, and I'm using my Orange Sim in it until my number gets ported, so my handset is unlocked.

I have an orbit from an o2 shop. I also have my Orange sim in it untill my number gets ported. Therefore - I'd say they're unlocked!
My experience is that all O2 phones have been network-unlocked. Certainly the last 6 I have had were.

I would like to differ.. The XDA2i I had was locked to O2. I bought a XDA Exec in July. That is unlocked out of the box.. Seeing the discussion on the thread, it seems that O2 have adapted a strategy of leaving their phones unlocked for some reason..
Mine was open on all networks as I am using my T-mobile sim in it!
Playing around with a spare Virgin Mobile simcard with O2 sourced phones:
Orbit unlocked
XDA2i locked
Exec unlocked
Mini S unlocked
iPaq 6915 unlocked
Nokia 6280 unlocked
Motorola Razr unlocked
Well I've put a Virgin SIM in mine straight out of the box from O2 and it works so it's definitely unlocked. The only problem is that it says T-Mobile on the screen for network - odd!
^^They all do that sir
IME unless the phone is Virgin branded it will display T-Mobile (who Virgin lease their virtual network from).
Dear ALL,
I've got a FREE Vodafone 710 3G telephone from HK Smartone. The handset was locked and I cannot use other Service Provider's SIM card.
Can anyone post a link of any software that can unlock the phone?
THANKS a lot.
Hi there
I live in the UK and have an HTC Desire which has been baked and it's just the way I like it. It was bought on a T-Mobile contract and is locked to T-Mobile.
I am travelling to the USA and want to put a USA T-mobile sim card in it.
The last time I was in the USA I took my Nokia N95 over which was locked to T-Mobile UK but it wouldn't work over there with a USA T-Mobile sim card.
What will I have to do to get it working over in America? Is it just getting the phone unlocked in my local market in the UK?
I don't want to be empty handed in the USA. I love my Desore too much to leave it in the suitcase!!!!
Any advise is grateful
Adrian
The phone is locked to simcards from t mobile UK, hence why you couldn't use a t mobile US simcard.
You can unlock the desire for about £10 with a code from ebay, no cables or mods required, simply put in the code when you first try to use the other sim card. You may find you only get 2g coverage in the US as I think the euro Desire only works with 2g networks in the US.
