OK, I am having a case crisis for the Universal.
It is too heavy for pockets. Carrying it closed for protection has problems (don't know about hinging that screen that many times, voice call doesn't work, can't see who's calling, etc.) so I will probably end up carrying it face up, and need protection for the screen. So the case is a must.
Here is what I could find that is available for the JasJar. Please share your opinions, experiences.
- The case that comes with JasJar: I am not going to say anything.
- XaX Leather Case: Seen this one in person. A very tight fit, and not a good one. I couldn't figure out how to make the camera work without taking it out of the case. It took me about 30 seconds of fiddling with it to decide I don't want it. http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=125516
- The case at tabfone. I have no other info on this other than the picture they have which shows nothing. http://www.tabfone.com/pro_per_content.asp?id=82
- Proporta pouch case. I like pouch cases/holsters, so I am considering this one. I wish they had more descriptive pictures though. http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=1354&t_mode=des
- Proporta book-like case: This looks good in the pictures, but what is that plastic wrap thing around the keyboard. Looks like it is a little pocket where the base slides in. How are we supposed to use the keyboard?
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=1353&t_mode=des
- PDair Leather Book Case: This looks similar to the Proporta book case. The last image (click on the main image) shows the problems of using the camera with book cases in general. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7749.htm
More pictures here: http://www.gadgetair.com/scripts/main/viewitem.php?itemid=1921&pdaid=190
- Non descript case: This one looks like the Xax. I like the horizontal carrying mode. http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/7866.htm
Let the money wasting begin

I am also particularly interested in those that do buy and their feedback. Initial impressions are that it is going to add significant size to an already existing large size, it it gets much bigger we'll need a backpack.
I think that a vertical hanging case will work best becuase of the length of the unit. I have a T-Mobile pouch with a belt clip that came with my HP 6315 and the Jasjar fits perfectly in it. When I clip it to my waist there is a big bulg since it is in a horizontal position if I am wearing a suit jacket or an outside hanging shirt. I think if it was just hanging vertically it wouldnt even be noticeable.

I agree. I have a VajaCase for my XDA II with a belt clip that swivels.

It is just great. Unfortunately Vaja don't make a case for the HTC Universal yet.
Vaja once made a great case for a Sony PDA that also had a swivel screen. It was super thin but provided protection from scratches. I cant remember what the model of the Sony PDA was but it was several years ago. I put the case on the Clie and never took it off. The top part would just slip off screen so you could swivel the screen around. I have purchased several cases from them and this one im mentioning was the best ever. I am going to email them right now and make a request they make a similar case for the Universal.

Not a problem - it swivels out of the road!
The XDA II is the same length, slightly longer actually, just not as thick or heavy.

Do you have any plans for a case for the HTC Universal PDA known as the
"XDA Exec", "iMate Jasjar", "Qtek 9000", "MDA Pro", "SPV M5000", "Dopod

i just love my jasjar! the last few days i have gone without a case. this was one of the reasons i liked the idea of the rotating screen. i feel its safe in my pocket with the screen protected.
OK so guys Forget about expansys.... I mean I always heard bad stuff n them, but my first purchase from them will be the last. I order my case, and after several days no change on my order, I called them and they said that I would have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to get my case....
JUST FOR A CASE !
i've bought several items from expansys-US(jam,sp3i and jasjar). i never had problems from them in terms of shipping or product availability.

GM,
Did you buy your Jasjar from the USA Expansys site. If so, when? I saw it listed last month and order one, but now my "order tracking" says that it has been discontinued.
Where have others in the states bought their Jasjar from?
Thanks

I got my Jasjar from Expansys USA as well.
I don't have any experience with him, but madmonkeyboy (www.madmonkeyboy.com) has been highly recommended as well.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll have to give expansys a call. By the way, what was the date that you ordered your Jasjar from expansys? And what did they charge? Thanks.
i've bought the pielframa universal-case.
it fits 100% perfect like it was made for the jasjar. perfect!
and about the quality?! it's pielframa, i guess you or better i don't have to say anymore.
http://www.pielframa.net/prodi.asp?ID=412
and they also have a special jasjar made case:
http://www.pielframa.com/imate_jasjar.htm
hi zwuncki:
does the "universal" case from piel frama fit really well the jasjar? i looked at the specs on piel frama's web site and the "maximum dimensions"listed are 129 x 78 x 21 mm. The JASJAR is quoted as 127.7 x 81 x 25 mm, so it seems it is thicker and wider than the maximum "allowed" by piel frama.
does it fit really well in your experience?
does the belt clip rotate?
thanks,
fernando

Case with belt loop for X1?
I lost my mobile once because of a belt clip.
Since that time I prefer a case with a belt loop but unfortunately I coudn't find one for the X1.
Does anybody know of such a case?
There's a company called Waterfield (www.sfbags.com) that makes custom bags. I bought a suede slip cover for my ipod from them. I've been asking if they would be willing to make one for the X1 and they responded that if they had enough interest they might.
I have yet to find another place that makes a simple slip cover (I don't want a big case, I just want a soft cover to prevent scratches to the screen/lens). If anyone else is interested please let them know you're interested.
I'm going to try a Touch Pro case from them since it's only $9 and hope it fits, but they custom cut them to the exact phone specs and the Touch Pro is a few mm shorter. I'll let you know how it fits and if it fits.
EDIT: Funny you posted that today James, I received a second email from them too, so I've changed my order and am going to try it out as well.
It would be awesome if Waterfield made an Xperia case. I have a wallet and a case for my DS made by them and nothing else I've seen comes near to the quality and usefulness of them. I think I'll get in touch and put in another request for an Xperia case!
EDIT: Got a reply from Waterfield saying that their case for the Android phone will be a pretty good fit, though it would be 0.2" taller than the phone.

X1 case
I got a PROTECH leather case for my X1. Originally designed for a nokia N85, the X1 fits like a glove. It's well made and very slim. No belt hook (thank God, coz they totally ruin your look). My only concern is the right, open side. It's exposed and the only thing securing the phone inside is a leather strap with a magnetic latch. Although the phone won't slide out, might be a problem if you accidentally drop it on the open side. Got it from Cellucom here in the UAE.

So many write about this Pdair so i checked them out.
Visited their site.
What a shady establishment this Pdair...
Nowhere on their site they mention an address.
Nowhere they mention the name of a person.
Nowhere a phone number or even a fax.
It is not even possible to see from what jurisdiction they operate from and where they are registered.
If you do a whois of pdair.com you get a domain privacy service used to hide their address.
What do they have to hide? That they are a small shack in Quanxi, China?

They are pretty old and established.
I have been buying their stuff for over 8 years.
Their stuff may be being ripped off.
I have bought from PDair for years. They ship fast and I received my items in NY, USA within 7 days, fast considering it's coming from China. In fact I just bought a case this past Christmas for my HTC EVO and my Galaxy Note, and they are a perfect fit, and well constructed. I used to use higher end cases such as Sena, but the PDair cases compete with the best of them. I would absolutely buy from PDair again in a heartbeat. I have no complaints.
In my country, or at least my city, PDAir products are sort of the higher class stuff in phone accessories stores in malls when it comes to leather cases. Never looked at their company how you did though. But I'm not saying I disagree. But their stuff do look nice and certainly feel durable. I was actually waiting for the nearby mall to restock on PDAirs for my Note.

That might be the one I was thinking of. Can you post few pics? What is the inside made of? Is it soft material that goes against the screen?
Here are some photos of the PDair leather belt case.* The case is thin and is made of a nice soft leather.* The inside of the case also has a leather quality and is soft, so it should not scratch the Note.* The Galaxy Note with a TPU case fits nicely into the PDair belt case (the GNote is in the PDair case in the last photo). This leather case does have a small magnetic closure as shown. The magnet is small and the magnetic field is directed away from the inside of the case. I did some basic testing and found no significant magnetism within the case, so I seriously doubt it could affect the Wacom digitizer or anything else within the GNote. I have not experienced any issues.
Would you please post a picture of the cover "open, with the Note inside" ?
Why do they have to use magnets if they know we are sensitive about it and the manual says do not use magnetic covers?

Magnet is very low power. It does not affect the Note at all. I find the case to be top notch in every way. Very high quality product!
I have a PDair vertical holster case which I bought through Amazon. It took about 2 weeks to get here (US), but that was in December, and it was faster than Amazon promised. It's a high quality item (which it should be considering the price) and I like it very much.
-Uwe-
I do not doubt it is good quality, but I wish they would not use magnets.
We have a Geomagnetic Sensor in the phone.
legion1911, here you go. When using holster cases, I always face the glass toward my body, just in case I bump into something. The distance between the small magnet and the screen is on the order of 2 cm. Based on the size of the magnet and its position facing out, I would be really surprised if it had any effect on the GNote. I certainly see your point though. They should offer a Velcro solution as well.

I bought one of those too. I am eagerly waiting for the delivery of that one too! I chose a custom leather option, so they have to hand-build it on demand. At least I will probably have the only one around!
For now I have a cheap belt pouch made for a navman device. It is roomy and slim, but will not last many more months.

what did you use to stick the clip to the back of the phone? you glued it? soldered?
Also looking for a nice hip holster, any recommendations?

Clip has a sticky back.
Once u stick it , it won't move. I had to cut it out the first time becoz I placed on the wrong place.
@Taptalk-GalaxyNote
I liked this PDair book style one so much I bought another one in crocodile as well : ) Both have belt clips where you slide the unit on down into the belt clip and it "clicklocks" right in, when needed reach behind the unit with your thumb on top and pressing down pull out voila. Phone will rotate freely when in belt clip so if you happen to brush up against something it will move out the way. Flip the cover around the back for landscape viewing and adjust for optimum angle.

The very first time I used one of those it broke. I sat down in an armchair (not heavily) and the force against the bottom toward me (I think) just snapped the connection right off.
I only use metal ones now.

Interesting, since the very first time I sat down with it on, I have (intuitively it seems) moved the phone to the horizontal or landscape position before sitting.
I see now that that has been a wise thing to do. So far, so good, have had it for several months and still going strong. The clip is probably designed for your average dress belt thickness but so far I've worn it daily over a very thick gun belt which stretches the clip wider than it was probably designed to go but makes it even more secure as it won't budge without very considerable force to slide it over.
I got this one.

I had one for the Xperia Arc. It was nice, because of the extra safety of the second 'clip'.
After a while, I found the main clip started to tear off from the case, mainly from sitting in the car.
I do seem to give these cases a hard time, don't I?
I have opted for the 'nutshell' case in the hope that it will survive whatever I do to these poor cases:

I have not received it yet . Apparently they are still waiting for a sample to make it for. I am not sure how long I'll wait ....
If it saves my Note, it'll be well worth the money. I have another case that is OK, but has a metal frame so reduces the phone signal. If I can remove enough metal but leave it functional, I may drop the Nutshell for taking to damned long.
There are so many cases made of different material, such as we all know TPU,hard PC material,PU leather, and they of a comparative better price than the genuine leather case, yet as the most classical genuine leather, if there's a need to have a high price genuine leather case for our loved M7 mate...?
Whilst I can't make head nor tail of what your post actually says, I'm guessing you're looking for a leather slip pouch for the One?
If so, I would recommend waiting for Beyza to come out with their Slim Zero range for it. I have had this case for the One X for about 6 months and it's a beast. No other case has lasted so long. And in fact I'm using it on the One now until they bring out a proper fitting case

This is what I'm considering
I am also looking for a genuine leather pouch for the One.
Just a heads up I bought the PU Leather version of that ebay link one and although it says it fits the One its not a perfect fit really, the top sticks out by about 5-6mm. Maybe the genuine leather in that one will stretch more. I've gone back to the S560 pouch I have for my One X which isn't a great fit either, too wide and loose.
What I really would like would be a genuine leather case like the meteor case that I have for the Sensation. It was a great quality pouch, soft leather, didn't add any bulk at all just like a tightly wrapped skin around the phone to protect it.

Oh and the pull tab (which I don't like anyway) is made more annoying by the fact that its not elastic like the HTC one its just like thin seatbelt material, and second theres no magnet like the HTC one so the pull tab doesn't stick to the case it just flaps about. I only paid £2.90 so its not bothering me but its a simple case of you get what you pay for.
Dan
Cheers for the advice about the PU case. That ticks it off the list then. I'll post if I come across anything better looking
I found (and ordered) this leather case from an Etsy seller. It is expensive ($80) but I am hoping it's worth it. There are hidden magnets that keep the flap closed.
The seller's page is at: http://www.etsy.com/listing/125790273/ha41-hand-stitched-handmade-personalized
Apparently it takes 5-7 days to make and then ?? days to arrive from China. Hopefully it will be here close to delivery of my One! I'll post my comments on it after I get my hands on it...

No offense but I don't trust to a chinese seller and give 80 bucks for a case like that. Most likely it is not even genuine leather.
I'd search "hard graft phone cases". They have this stunning leather bi-folding case/wallet for the iphone 5. However the size is generous enough that it may accommodate the m7. They're based in the uk I believe. I actually just emailed them asking if the m7 would fit into this, or any of their cases, or even if they were planning on making cases for this phone. I'm considering getting one for myself, and I figured I'd inquire first.. as it'd be an expensive mistake.
who knows HOCO ? some guys mentioned their case and in my impression that all the hoco case are made of genuine leather, and esp. their name is something classic and vintage style such as duke series case, baron series etc, so far they launched a leather flip case and going to try it as my M7 comes if no one give them bad scores...

Ya, some cases ain't cheap, but to each their own. I have purchased a dozen or more crummy cases over the years for $15 - $25 that are all in a landfill now. I also bought a pricey leather case for my iPad a few years ago and it's still in use, looking better than ever.

Any recommended pouches for the HTC One? I am going to put a screen protector on it, but no case since it will ruin the look/feel of the aluminum. However, some extra protection from a pouch would be nice.

If you search HTC One on Etsy.com, they have some really nice leather sleeves. Some are pricy but looks like its really worth it.
I ordered this a week ago, she lives in Latvia so shipping is going to be probably another week but worth it in my opinion - They're hand made and she said they are tight enough to prevent the device from falling out. She has switched to a darker felt than what's shown on the posting - heres a pic of the updated felt look like with a link below it for the HTC One

If you were referring to colors of that specific case it only comes in one of two felt colors. The lighter one showed on the HTC One order page (which you also have to specifically ask for) or the darker one in the pic. The color option you choose in the little accent band on the sides. I ordered blue which should be a short while after I get my One - I'll definitely post some pics of the phone in the case and what not!
Sena is bringing their Ultraslim Leather Pouch for the One in early May. I highly advise that you wait for it.
