I bought recently a Qtek S100 and i want to buy a 1024 Mb memory card.
A friend told me that MMC is faster than SD is that true???
Tnx for the help
Paulo
other way round, generally sd is better....hence the slighly dearer price
MMC can be more problematic than SD on XDA range in my experience.
I've just ordered a 2GB Adata MMC card to use in my Magician. From other threads http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24988 I've read that the Adata 2GB SD doesn't work but the MMC does. There are also problems with other 2GB SD cards. Speed wise I don't think you'll see any difference even theough the MMC is rated faster since the phones only support the slower interface.
defaultly sd should be about 8 times faster then mmc but some newer mmc cards were suppose to be much faster then older ones not sure
but thing mmc are on the way out along with CF and SM and other older flash types
Well I was thinking MMC was on the way out until I recently looked at buying a card. It seems the latest MMC cards are the "the fastest in the world" at the moment. I think they are being pushed again as some phones (Symbian based Nokias I think) only support MMC and not SD as the MMC is thinner. MMC currently go upto 266x (40MB/second) and the fastest SD I've seen is 166x (25MB/second) mind you the quoted speeds tend to be for reading so not sure how the writing fares.
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=5139
All that said they are only going to be fast when used in a USB2 reader that supports the latest MMC standard. ( I think they need to move a nybble at a time rather than 1 bit )
guess it is a matter if HTC devices support that faster MMC cards then
and if they work if they work at full speed
My MMC arrived today 2GB works fine in my Magician (with orginal ROM). £74 including p&p not bad at all.
As for the 200x speed, this is not supported in my card readers (let alone the Magician). This is because the card supports 3 modes:-
1) Original serial / 1 bit at a time mode (which I think is the one the Magican uses)
2) 4 bit mode one nybble is moved at a time as with newr SD cards
3) 8 bit mode one whole byte is moved at a time and there are an additional 4 contacts to support this.

So I guess I'll be buying a new card reader for my PC to help speed my music copying.
but it would still be slower on the pda i guess
not that the SD interface on any of the pda's can utilize the
speed that even normal SD cards can run at

Actually our phone performs almost the same on class 4 and class 10 sd cards. This difference can be experienced only on high end phones.
well in that case this is the cheapest deal

any screenshots for crystaldiskmark for the transcend 32gb class 10 please?
Actually I am looking for a thread to solve my problem, but instead I found this thread.
I bought an Transcend 32GB class 10 an it work beatifully OOB. However I've replaced this memory card 3 times because it failed when copy a lot of data. It just not faid but after the error copying I couldnt use the card anymore. I tried to format and it get worst.
It happen when I backup and all three times I had it failed occurred when I trying to backup my file into it.
I won;t buy Transcend anymore.
I bought 8gb from ebay for $ 4.28.....Its working gud on my 4n.... so cheap....
Samsung's memory cards were updated late Wednesday with large-scale production one of the world's fastest microSD cards. The new 16GB microSDHC card runs at the same UHS-1 (Ultra High Speed-1) spec normally used for the latest full-size SD cards, giving it performance that would previously have been reserved for pro memory for DSLRs and video cameras. Sequential read speeds peak at about 80MB per second, or roughly four times the 21MB of regular microSD cards.
The storage is ostensibly meant for LTE-capable smartphones and tablets, where flash memory speed could bottleneck the connection. It should nonetheless be useful for cameras that take microSD storage and support UHS-1. Samsung reached the density through a combination of its more recent 20-nanometer manufacturing process to build 64-gigabit (8GB) chip layers as well as a toggle DDR2 interface that can saturate the newly available bandwidth.
Release schedules and prices weren't given out, although mass production usually precedes a launch within a few months or less.

We need to know which file system those cards are formated in order to reach the high speed. If it is exFAT, then those numbers are pointless as all the smart phone storage currently formatted in FAT32 which is much slower.
Awesome, now just tell me how to fit one in my One X.

sorry guys I ran thru and posted at all the lte phones I knew off top of my head , I thought only the nexus didn't have an sd card ..

It's a proper partition as opposed to a virtual partition like transformer prime. Wipe is fine, just don't tell it to wipe sd partition.
Only issue at the moment is that recovery doesn't have UMS, so if you don't have a booting OS and don't have backup/rom on phone then you are in a bit of a pickle Will be resolved when recoveries get more advanced. Very early days.

Sorry can't tell you for the SD card you mentioned. But I'm using the Hama SDXC 64GB Class 10 which is realy good when considering the access times.
All is running flawlessly with this card.
and you considered this question "Urgent"???

Urgent is when your house is on fire and you need to get the kids out ! This just a small NON urgent little thingy.....
Urgent is when you have to pee and the next exit is 20 miles away!
As we are all attached to our devices these days when you run out of storage space that could be considered urgent.
Anyway, we can leave that philosophical question for later.
This is the micro SD I bought for my M8. I put all my pictures, videos and music on it and I've not noticed any problems with read/write or playback issues.

That's a fine card. Depends what you mean by "lag", it's not infinitely fast, but it's a good one.
Well when it first came out (the tab s 8.4) only 128gb micro SD cards were the largest available.
So my question, can we assume that any micro SD XC 1 card will work fine in this tablet?
I ask because I stumbled upon this 200GB card now available.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-micro..._UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=00EQDPJ5PMBTHB0A266Q
Or is this tabs card slot locked some how to only except up to 128GB max?
If the Tabs S works with XC 1 cards have an 128gb one and it works fine, I suppose an 200gb that is XC 1 should work as well as an guess.

Can anyone recommend a card with decent speed?
I'm using Sandisk 32 GB and the transfer speed sucks... avg around 10mb/s when transfering files from my tablet to PC via USB cable.

Get the biggest card you can afford, a 64gb or 128gb, I only ever buy Samsung flash cards for years for my camera`s phones and tablets, I all do a exhaustive error test when i get them and i have never found an error or had one fail, So i don't have any experience of other brands but Sandisk is a good brand.
I just bought an Samsung 128GB Evo+ the other day for £36 and i am just about finishing the error testing, It is showing a write speed of 20.46mb/s and a read speed of 63.56mb/s these are just basic number using an USB 3.0 card reader on my notebook, I have an crystal disk mark test results if you want to see them.
My T800 10.5" has formated my Samsung 128GB EVO+ as ExFat file system, benchmarks should really be run with the card in your Tab S for real world results.
John.
Thanks! Time to test out Samsung sd cards then.
Highly recommended Samsung evo cards. Its all I use now. Good value for money.
A few speed test reviews on Amazon say the Samsung 128GB EVO+ is not very good as the 4K file write speed is very low, But i dont write anything that small, even ebook files or mp3 files are hundreds of mb/s
Below are benchmark run on my Notebook using an USB 3.0 card reader.

I will post a couple of benchmarks with the Samsung 128GB EVO+ in my T800 EDIT: Write speed seems to be limited to 34mb/s i wonder if this af fast as the card reader can go, as other tests have show tha same slow read speed
John.
I personally never had any issues with Sandisk. I have really old Sandisk cards laying around (64mb) and they still work fine.
I'm actually scared to try a different brand with the good luck I have had with Sandisk.

I am in the US but this is what I am using now. The 32gig one. Go with the biggest you can afford to be honest. Make sure its class 10. Always buy from an official Sandisk seller on Amazon to avoid fakes.

Normally when I post reviews on XDA Developers, I rewrite them to be more for this audience. However, when I'm reviewing SD Cards, pretty much only the facts are interesting, so I've just gone verbatim here since I think it's to the point.
I picked up this MicroSD card (more specifically, MicroSDXC) and promptly ran some tests with it, you can see them in the video, but here are some key facts:
* On a USB3.0 reader I was getting 78.64 MB/S read and 18.45 MB/S write for Sequential writes using a 100MiB test file. The card is actually exceeding its own claims here
* The same test on the USB3.0 reader with a 1GiB test file gave 77.81 MB/S read and 19.92 MB/S write for Sequential writes.
* On a USB2.0 reader I was getting 22.02 MB/S read and 10.70 MB/S write for Sequential writes using a 100MiB test file. The lower speed is to be expected due to a USB2.0 reader.
* It arrived formatted as exFAT
* It worked just fine in the LG G4. 117gb formatted capacity shown.
Included was a microSD to full size SD adapter which worked just fine in my laptop for the USB2.0 test.
Conclusion
So there you go, I like the Silicon Power 128gb microSD card and it's working just fine in my LG G4. Simple conclusion I know, but I think the best I can do here is not beat around the bush.
Notes
The tested model number was SP128GBSTXBU1V20SP

I also picked one of these up (on an Amazon lightning deal, no less - $30 instead of $35). I've had no issues and been entirely happy with it. I reformatted mine to FAT32 with gparted and am using it in my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. My benches were pretty close to yours.
I'd definitely recommend this card [emoji4]
