Hi there,
I was wondering what is the final version of ActiveSync delivered with Universal. So far the only versions of ActiveSync for WM5 we've seen are the 4.0 from Microsoft SDK and a 4.1 pre-release version (buzzdev).
If anyone could check his version and eventually upload it to FTP, that would be nice...
Cheers,
Hal.
The ActiveSync that comes with JasJar is Version 4.0.0 (build 4343).
This is the standard MS WM5 build I believe.
Same as the one in SDK then...
4343 is the one we had for quite some time...
Thanks for clarification,
Hal.

NOOB QUESTIONS
Looking on www.o2.co.uk site i got this firmware dated 28th Feb 2005.
v1.31.139 are:
O2 Active v3.6:
I'm sure I have a June 2005 link to newer firmware. Just checked with FINDUS he recommend iMate 1.40 FW and or WM5 beta
Is the new firmware for XDA an MSN PPC2003 / WM5 upgrade? or a specific chip software rewrite with nothing to do with MSN PPC2003 / WM5? or both?
Which firmware works best with WM5? for UK o2 XDA2s?
or would it be better to wait for the WM5 BUGS to be ironed out and install firmware best suited to latest PocketPC2003? if so what firmware is best for PPC2003 and where can i get that?
Will WM5 work with: TOMTOM5 navigator, PocketMusic, Pocket Skype? and will it generaly be ok for one year old software? many thanks choppidge.
Hi,
You sound a bit confused! The O2 official update on their website is probably the operating system you are running right now. It is WM 2003 SE 1.31 and is an older version than the imate 1.40, which has the later bluetooth stack and windows mobile 10 built in. The wm5 for blueangel is getting a lot more stable now, but it still has too many bugs for me so I am sticking with the imate 1.40 ROM. O2 have yet to release a 1.40 version of the ROM, although they are supposed to be doing so soon, with Blackberry support as well, but don't hold your breath for an official WM2005 ROM from O2, it almost certainly will not happen.
Hope this helps,
Fin
Yes I am confused! but slowly i am learning, thanks for your help. I hope to upgrade today hopefully not to a paper weight, I have backed up everything so dont mind trying a few different ROMs, I will be reading the wiki very carefuly.
I will be using Skype which comes supplied with imate 1.40 ROM.
I need to learn how to stream audio via a random Wifi connection.
I will be using WMP10 and PocketMusic also TOMTOM5 and a good Icon Bar / Task Manager. Upgrades or downgrades to camera software may be needed.
Its Official

CAB extract?
Can anyone running this ROM somehow extract the CAB file so it can be installed elsewhere? I'd like to test on my PDA2K/2003 device in the USA.

Don't think it's worth for me to upgrade. See the extract below;

Where find WM5 ROM
I've see you already install the WM5, i really need to find that ROM for my XDAII can you give me a link to find it. I've try to buzz website but found ROM for Himalaya and the ROM version is 1.60.00WWE. I already upgrade my ROM into 1.72.00WWE from www.o2.co.uk but the OS is WinCE 4.20.
So is it ok to upgrade my O2 XDAII ROM with Himalaya XDAII ROM ? If something wrong can i rollback with older version ?
You cannot compare ROM numbers from (un)official WM 2003(SE) ROMs with those of unofficial WM 5.0 ROMs.
WM 5.0 1.60c ist much newer than WM 2003 1.72.xx

Hey all,
I've read on a few WM6 posts that Pocket Informant 2007 works on the WM6 roms, yet when I try it I'm getting an error that claims that it isn't intended to be installed on this version of OS.
How have you found a way around this?
Dan
Well I have a legal key and it works on WM6 on my Wizard, and Universal.
You can change the cab file`s maximum OS version to 6.0 with WinCE CAB Manager.
Hi, is anyone using Microsoft's Business Contact Manager with WM6?
I've tried all the current WM6 ROMs on this site but can only get BCM to install and work on XDA Live.
On all the other ROM's the installation fails with a message that the OS isn't supported.
I can't figure out why and would be keen to learn about other users experience with this software.
I specifically would like to have the Black Edition on my Hermes but only if there's a workaround !
AFAIK there's no BCM specifially for WM6, so I'm using the one for WM5 (the filename's BCMV3PPC.exe)
Look forward to hearing from you
Would guess its because the CE version of XDA LIVE has been hex edited so it's compatible with Goodlink and BBConnect where the other ROMs haven't. Original version is 5.2.968 but has been changed to 5.1.195 because the apps check it upon install.
So its likely that BCM is another app to the list.
S.K.
