Is there way to import contacts stored on a contacts backup file from windows 2003 se to a wm05 ?
Not possible,
for the moment you can put the contacts on the sim in wm2003, and copy it in wm2005 to the contacts, you might need asukal sim manager to create another contact on the sim, backup util is not working in wm2005 so far.

Yes. Use active sync 4 while on wm2003 when you upgrade just resync. I got ALL of my appointments, contacts, etc into wm2005 this way.

Hi there, before upgrading to WM6, i wanted to sync my universal with outlook to have all the contacts and calendar entries backed up. Active sync showedsuccessful sync, but contacts didnt sync at all. after trying few more times, i thought i leave it, just copy PIM.VOL to sd, as i usualy do, upgrade, and then replace the clea PIM with the backed up one.
the problem started, when my backed up PIM seem to shrink in size as soon as i restart the device. contacts dont open a all. i tried the same pim vol on another universal, and the same problem appears. i simply cant get my contacts back.
what do you think it can be, coz to me it looks like a corrupted PIM.
i was trying to find some kind of PIM editor to get my contacts back, but wth no luck.
is there anything i can do, has any one know the way?
Not sure what your problem is.
But AKU3+ onward to Crossbow PIM.VOL is different from AKU2 PIM.VOL in the data format.

Hi, i backed up only my contacts using SpbBackup before i went up to WM6. After upgrading to WM6 and running the backup cab i found it crashed my contacts on my device, i extracted the pim.vol from the back up and transfered it to my device but this also crashed the contacts program. Is there anything i can do to get all my contacts to my phone?
cheers
Known issue.
M$ changed the Database format.
You need to either sync your contacts with an exchange server or outlook on your desktop then re-sync after upgrading. Or find another program to export your contacts and import them after upgrade.
Can not simply back-up the DB file.
Hi guys,
My XDA orbit is about to clag up and needs hard reset/ or reformat. I need to backup quickly.. but....
All my active synch will do is allow me to browse the files using explorer, and it will not synch with Outlook 2007 on a new clean pc .
If I cannot synch the vital ones held on the XDA orbit calander, contacts, etc. with Office directly, is there another method?
Can I for example copy 'certain' files from the XDA and put them on the pc and import them into Office?.. or can I do a sprite backup in such a way that I can open upo the files on the pc and import them into Outlook?
Thanks
Ann
ps If I open up Active synch on the XDA i just see the intial blurb " To sybch wth a desktop computer , install acrtivesynch on your computer and then connect this device... etc..etc.."
&
If I open up Active synch on the PC then I find Synchronize and Options greyed out.

Heya,
can you delete the membership in active sync ? I would try to delete the membership and connect again. Which version of ActiveSync you're using ?
When you start ActiveSync on the phone, it's also greyed out and you can't change anything ?
Maybe using PPCPimBackup is a temporarely solution for you - you can backup all your contacts, calendar, tasks etc to your storage card, flash another ROM and restore these things back. Here is a description how to import the PIMBackup file into outlook.
Cheers
Hi,
If I understand you - your intention is to backup your personal informations like contacts, tasks etc. before hard reset (with no possibility to synch with PC)?
In that case you can use PIM Backup (search xda-developers). You can save contacts, phone calls, tasks, appointments on SD card and restore after hard reset.
Sprite Backup also have such a possibility.
Hope this will help you.

Hi
You are going to loose it anyway............... your pim.vol is the contacts file BUT you made it in WM5 and when you upgrade to WM6 it will no longer be readable to WM6
Use a pen and paper and write it down ............................

Or just use PIM Backup and have contacts, appointments, task and messages (except MMS) backed up.
I tried it during WM5 -> WM6 upgrade of my Artemis and everything worked perfect.
thanks a lot... very helpfull
Hi All,
I'm trying to move my contacts from my HTC P4350 (Herald) to the Excalibur
i'm using xml contacts backup to backup and restore them on herald but its not supported on excalibur , is there any other way to copy them?
Thanks.
just activesync the herald, save them to Outlook, and then restore to the Excalibur? Thats the easiest way
Also, you could save to the sim card, and then move or copy them. Personally I leave them on the sim at all time (updating every once in a while) and set the phone to not show sim contacts. Then, copy em all to the phone. Works great in case of an emergency hard reset
i use this software, to register use 00000 with anyone name
sorry for my english
