Side not missing :
I took the photo's with my old XDA II so give me a break here anyway cut to the chase the tiny little screw is missing on that one side. I've tried radioshack/sears hardware etc, and I cannot seem to find a replacement, I don't know where to go or what to do from here.
*EDIT* - I just realized I posted this in the wrong category it should be moved to Accessories, since a screw is an Accessory, I'm sorry.

How wierd is this...I have the same screw missing on the same side!
Could it be a design fault?

I'm not sure, I don't remember it falling out, but I just recalled seeing that it was gone.
But I've also looked at : http://www.itbox.com.au/catalog/images/itbox-xda-2-s.jpg
and I notice there are screws in both sides! Maybe its a common thing to lose a screw on that side because of the keyboard or something... but I want a new screw!

I too missed it a few days before. I had to take it to service center and get it fixed with a new one.
They charged my Dhs 5 (aprox U$ 1.35)

same screw on same side.
That screw just popped out. Good thing the unit was in my pocket and the screw didnt get lost.
I was forced to buy a specialized screw driver just to put the screw back.

Your lucky you still had the screw. I've Had the exact same proplem except my screw got lost!! Anyway After much argueing with orange, I got a contact number for HTC that got me though to an answerphone. I left a message on that and they called me back and sent me some screws for free!!! If I find the number I'll post it up here. As they sent me four screws I could send one out to someone if they REALLY need it. You will need a Tork 6 screwdriver to fit it back.
Please tell your company who you got the phone from as well as calling up HTC. When I spoke to orange and HTC for that matter they told me that they have had no other reports of this happerning to others despite loads reports of it on here.

thats interesting that it happened to all of us that same way hehe, well I need a new one and I've tried every hardware store possible =(

Am also missing one. is my 3de MDA! first 2 where exchanged by t-mobile for the missing screw and a hardware problem. think they aren't really tightened... hope anyone got some link or adres where i can get them!

Can you imagine a car body made of that plastic
Damn...I had no idea how decent it was. I guess Samsung really know their hardware.

Yea, I figured it wouldn't be that brittle.

Normally when you bend plastic , it goes white at the bend point as is damaged/weakened , no sign of that here
This grade of plastic is more expensive than aluminium, and for good reasons. Im happy I have this phone and not one with an aluminium cover.
Great, I thought mine was going to break when taking it off lol
that's pretty damn impressive.
Not even fatigue
im amazed, but has anyone else tried this with theirs?

I was about to but then i looked inside my pants and realised my balls are not big enough.
Before people go trying this are we sure this is not third party? Don't recognise the logo under the camera, unless it's a carrier one?
I've tried it with mine, no problem at all.. It pop's right back to it's original state.. Did it however when temperatures were high (>25 Celcius), somehow i get the feeling that matters also a bit..
By the way.. The logo is of Anycall, it's the Korean telecom division from Samsung.
thats awesome, seems better than the SE Vivaz battery cover (my last phone)...
there's been no day i havent found something new and awesome about my SGSII =)
lmao nice one tbh first time i took it off was like omg its gonna break now i just rip it off lol but put my mind at rest im not gonna damage it
Has anybody tried bending their backcover like in the video, just in case it was a special rubber one
No way.. I wont try it
When I first took the cover off my new SGS2, I was extremely disappointed to see how flimsy the back cover was and was handling it like it was going to snap at any second..
Very nice to see that it is pretty strong, although I have no intention of testing the hardiness of my own one
Gutsy
It definitely took balls for that guy to try it on the video the first time. We can't even try it after seeing a demonstration!
I got so relieved when i saw that video xD
Got so scared the couple times i had to remove it
"Oh god, need to open the case again, its totally gonna break now!"
My thought every single time xD

Anyone else Trying to live with Yellow Spots...

I have two small yellow spots. Upper left and upper right. I have already rooted and installed custom rom and have been playing with my phone for a week now. I love this phone and am trying to live with it even though I know I shouldnt.
Anyone else in the same boat? Or did everyone that had this problem return there phone. I bought mine unlocked on amazon.
Has anyones spots disappeared? I was googling the pictures of the Iphones that had the same problem and they look Identical to what I have. Its not as bad as some peoples pictures I have seen though.
hmmmm.... what to do...

Most likely glue.

how long have you had your phone
spots can go away with use
1 - week.
Thats what I was hoping and the reason I havent returned it yet. You can press on them and they disappear. When you let go they come back. I was reading in a thread somewhere that someone had massaged them for a little bit each day for a week and they went away.
They also get brighter as the phone heats up.

ah one more screen lamination issue, then its air gabs in the glue
im willing to pay a trip to the factory just to fight with those responsible of the lamination process lol

Argh, help with camera dust

My month-old GS2 suddenly developed a spot on all my camera photos. T-Mobile offered to replace it under warranty, but then I have to go through all the hassle of unrooting, exchanging, re-rooting, etc. And they said I'd probably get a refurb phone. I hate to play the refurb lottery with my nearly new, nearly perfect GS2.
Anyway, here's a sample pic:

}
Now that I've seen the spot, I can't unsee it on every one of my photos.
I've tried cleaning the lens cover, I even removed the 6 screws under the back cover and took the back of the phone in an attempt to further clean the lens, blow on it, wipe it, etc. I've tried bumping and shaking the phone to try to get the dust piece loose. Nothing I've tried made a difference.
So, any suggestions?

You can request the warranty to Samsung. Dont play with Tmobile. Tmobile will charge you 20$, and replace your phone with a refurb, and im a victim of that :banghead:
I advise you to contact Samsung, they wil fix ur phone free of charge.

** UPDATE **
Just thought I'd update in case somebody else ever comes across this. I disassembled the phone again by removing the battery cover, removing the 6 little screws, and removing the interior back cover. I used a can of compressed air to blow on/around the camera assembly and....voila...no more black spot on my photos. All is well with the world.
U should get a show on a&e and say there orbs. People gobble what they see in those shows like candy..

Ok.. i had a little accident a couple of weeks ago at work and destroyed my one x screen

Now the phone seemed fine, from what i could see from the third of the screen that was still working. It still booted up and charged etc, still got calls..
I looked into getting a screen replaced and to my disbelief i found out it would cost me £120. I figured i'd get a replacement and fix it myself, as the phone is only worth about 200 quid now anyway.
I bought a LCD from Ebay for £50 and i successfully opened the phone and removed the broken lcd/digitizer and replaced it with the new one.
Ok you might all be thinking.. "whats the problem" - Well it appears i've snapped the powerflex cable, close to where the button is connected to it.
(I think those of you in the know will know what i mean)
I'm torn between 3 options here..
1. Buy a powerflex replacement £6.50 and install it myself, bearing in mind there might be something else wrong.. or the LCD just doesn't work..
Also i'm not 100% sure the powerflex part is easily removed/installed. I know one section of it is a snap-in connector.. not sure about the left side of it.
2. Get it done professionally for £50ish - bearing in mind the phone is in bits, and the shop i send it to might make up some BS stories about how i've destroyed other bits needing replacing etc etc..
3. forget it all and sell it on ebay as spares/repair - bearing in mind all my sensitive data, apps, and pictures are still in the phone
I just wanna get it fixed, working, and all my data and stuff off it so i can sell it i probably would have kept it had all this disaster not happened, but I'm in the new phone mindset now and my contract ends next month :fingers-crossed:
For 6.50 it has to be worth a try, you're gonna get a lot more money, and satisfaction, for it if its fully working. and if it doesn't work, well it's just the price of a MacDonalds. oh and if it's the cable I'm thinking of it's no worse than any other one in there.

I'm going towards that route tbh...
This is the part. I tore the right most part.. just below the button.
Got to fix a new power flex mate
The phone albeit might be worth £200 to you but with a bust screen/power flex its worth £70/100 on ebay
Just make sure while youve got it in bits you dont knock off any of the contection tabs

Their absolute bastards to repair thats if you can source them any where
and if any one reading this can tell me where to get them id be well chuffed...im fed up with making me own

So i thought they shipped a problematic unit, a send it back, bought a new one.... and same probleme, i even thought that it was a problematic flex cable of the motherboard (that i replaced too) , i never find someone who had the same problem as me, on youtube or whatever, it's a big mystery for me and i'm beging you for your help people.
Thank you very much.
Sorry i have no idea how to help you
All i can say is that there is 3 variants of this phone with different displays: Tiamna, another one which i forgot and another one just for really late unit which is known to be incompatible and india exclusive, my theory is that maybe you had the one which is more problematic, maybe, in really don't know i'm just trying to help with the information i have
(btw your english is completly fine)
