Hi, i have a SPV5000 and i can put a lot of kind of 1.13 rom inside, like Qtek or Orange.
But impossible to put any 1.30 rom (orange, qtek french or WWE).
I've tried a lot of solution like "put the radio first" ... rest after.
Do you know if it's possible that my hardware version refuse this 1.30 rom?
I think the guy who sell me the spv sell me a pre-serie .
Thanks
The first question I want to ask is: How do you perform the upgrade? Do you use the No ID Tool? If not, try using it. Here is an instructions I made:
The file is extracted in your computer. Once you run the shipped.exe file, you need to go to:
My Computer
Your Drive (mine is Drive C)
Show the contents of this drive
Documents and Settings
Choose your folder name
Choose "TOOLS" from the menu bar
Choose "FOLDER OPTIONS"
Click on the "VIEW" tab
Click on "HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS"
YOU WANT TO SHOW ALL HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS
Now go to TEMP folder
Now you will notice a bunch of folders will show up, tons of them to be exact. What you need to do now is click on the shipped.exe file again and "LOOK" for the folder being created because that folder is what you want to copy. If you did not see it created, you have to manually open each folder and look for the files I listed below.
Assuming you found the folder, you will have these following files inside that folder:
ms_.nbf----------------------this file is responsible for EXT ROM Version
nk.nbf------------------------this file is responsible for Windows Mobile Version
radio.nbf---------------------this file is responsible for Radio Version
EnterBL
GetDeviceData
readme
ROMUpgradeUt
RUU.conf
RUU.dll
UI.dll
MaUpgradeUt_noID
If the file MaUpgradeUt_noID is not there. You need to get hold of a copy of this file as you need this.
There you have it, REMEMBER, you need to have the MaUpgradeUt_noID file plus all the rest of the file in one folder if you want to upgrade to the ENTIRE I-Mate ROM, QTEK, O2, or whatever ROM you want.
If you only want to upgrade to the radio version then you need to delete 2 files namely: "ms_.nbf" and "nk.nbf". Leave "radio.nbf" alone and click on the "MaUpgradeUt_noID" file to initiate the Radio installation. Basically those 3 files control what you want to update on your device.
Hope my instructions were clear enough for you. Hope this helps.
Thanks for your complete response
Of course i'm using the MaUpgradeUt_noID ... i have no error message during the process but at the end after the hard reset i have black screen.
and to try to only flash the radio I renames other files .
thanks
I steel don't enderstand ....

It won't hurt to try and update using Boot Loader Mode.
What do you mean "0.56"?
when I put my spv in bootloader mode, I can see on the screen :

You might be right. Your exec must be one of the earlier version. I remeber some time ago, someone asked the same question you did. Maybe someone else can help. Have you tried upgrading it using my instructions?
thank you again and of course I've tryed your method.
every thing works with previous version but not on 1.30

I believe you need to find out how to upgrade the "Serial USB" application on your Universal for the No_ID Tool to work. Other than that you probably need a version of the No_ID Tool that works at an earlier version of the "Serial USB" version that you have. I'm sorry too, if I didn't help.

It works by just putting it in the Windows folder, with the original name: HTC.gif?
Also, I have WM6 on my Trinity, does it still work with this operating system?

Htc Splash
I am looking for the HTC second splash screen and sound file. I just flashed the HTC splash I got from Schaps over my AT&T build the first HTC screen comes up fine then that AT&T 5 bars with 3g I can't stand comes up . I want the HTC one where the HTC icon dances and there is a sound like a door bell, Does any one here have that .gif and .wav file I can just copy to windows and edit reg file.
Original boot screens needed
I was wondering: is there somewhere around or could someone make a ROM update utility (or another alternative way) containing only the default white HTC and the default Windows Mobile 6 boot/splash screens to use with Trinity already having cooked WM6 ROM installed?
Disregard that:

Ah, on most HTC devices I've used the welcome screen is not the same as the splash screen and I think that might be the problem here. The welcomhead file is your welcome screen and easily replaced in your kitchen, but the splash screens (2 of, although sometimes seems like 1 as they might be identical) are installed as part of your ROM.
When you use get to the point in a kitchen of having an OS.nb or Windows.nb or however it's phrased, and you're ready to turn this into a full ROM file, you can add in other things like the IPL, SPL, 1st and 2nd splash screens, radio and extended ROM, each of which has its own .nb file.
Welcomehead is easy to change. The splash screens aren't hard to change and you should find instructions somewhere in any kitchen manual probably. Haven't time to look for you now though, you'll have to scan about in any kitchen-related docs or web pages you have or know of.

It just depends on whether the ROM you install happens to come with 1 or 2 or no splashscreens. There's a splash1.nb and splash2.nb (might be slightly different names to that but will be similar) in a full, original ROM - and a radio, IPL, SPL and Ext-ROM too. Each has its own .nb file. (The names of them vary a bit between devices but they're pretty much always easily-recognised.)
Cooked ROMs usually are OS-only, and only made from an OS.nb (or Windows.nb sometimes - you could actually call it anything and still use it). Sometimes however, someone bundles a splash1 or a splash2 with it or both. You could install a ROM and find no splashscreens change afterward - which is usually the case. Whenever I download a ROM and it comes with a splashscreen, I almost always break the ROM down into it's .nb files and then put it back without the splash1 or splash 2 in it.
If you have a go with any ROM using HyperCore you'll find ROMs with 1 splashscreen have 1 .nb file relating to splashscreen and ROMs with 2 splashscreens (or a splashscreen which apears to last ages, which is just identical splashscreens) have 2 .nb files relating to splashscreens.
I don't think not having splashscreens saves any space though as I'm fairly sure that the space is essentially allocated to the relevant .nb files (for splashscreens they're 256k each, the nb files, even if the picture you used was 1 0.5k black mono pic).
Learning to use HyperCore obliquely taught me and many others a fair bit about how these things tick. Not a techie, mind - just done a lot of phone flashing. It's brilliant.
By way of example, here's the .nb file-list from an official (OrangeUK) Hermes ROM. (The basic format is generally the same between devices, even if the names alter - it just happens to be the most recent ROM I broke up in this way and still have the files to list for you.)
RUU_Signed.nbh is the file one would flash. This is made up from:
Windows.nb
Herm_ExtendedRom.nb
IPL.nb
Radio.nb
PrimarySplash.nb
SecondarySplash.nb
SPL.nb
The format doesn't change much between most devices, even if the names change.
I used to have a tool (can't remember who made it) for creating the .nb files for splashscreens. If I find it I'll attach it.

Good news is you're okay with this already if you've got hypercore. Duttythroy's made a genius tool for it, appropriately entitled Dutty's Good NBH Tool. It splits .nbh files into the .nb files that comprise it, and that tool is in your hypercore.
It's also in just about every kitchen. Definitley on your hard drive somehere. Just use the page that disassembles (not in the programmer's sense) an .nbh file, not the page that puts one back together form the parts we've been talking about.
Good spot on Oli's tool, but it was another one. Had a very simple interface 1-click interface. Wish I could remember whose it was now 'cause I definitely don't have it any more. (Unfortunately, my external HDD went down recently and took ... well, everything with it from the last, ooh, 12 or 13 years. And yes I did have a backup: that was it; the proper HDD went down a few months earlier and, like a complete tool, I left it till the backup died before replacing it.)
EDIT: here it is, to save you searching mate.
Thanks
Uhm... Yea, I've been on the "right path" for so long, I have HypeCor, L26.v7, Helmi kitch r0... and I still haven't figured out how to make anything from the nk.nbf-file.
Reading a bit I thought typho5 would -x it into an nbh-file. No such luck. Just died on me telling me the .nbf-file has an "unknown header format".
I've even tried dumping from the phone with some "grab-it"-program.

It works, it spits out something. But what it is, what format etc I am unsure of.

Ooh, I wouldn't go messing with that just now. If all you want is to take an .nbh file and break it up into the various .nb files, just run dutty's tool, browse to your nbh file and go. it'll dump all he .nb files in no time at all, maybe less.
If that's not what you're trying to do then I'm barking up the wrong tree and therefore not helping, but if that's the case just re-explain your needs and I'll have another go.

Oooohh... I love to mess around
Okay, exact mess I want to get my self in to:
swat4 was as kind as to drop a WM5-image with sdhc-drivers. I want to take out those .dll-files and add them to another image. Namely Helmi_UNI_AKU3.5_v1.3.1.
But so far all I have is this nk.nbf-image. That, and I found this grab-it-tool, which copys the roms image straight over to SD-card in raw format.
Hmmm... Any hints to point me in some general direction as to what to do next?

Righto.
If I was trying to add SDHC drivers to a ROM that didn't have them already, I think I'd be using HyperCore to turn the nbh of that ROM into .nb files and then into the series structured files and folders that kitchens usually use, OEM, SYS, ROM, etc., and then just adding an SDHC OEM. After which HyperCore becomes very similar to most kitchens.
OR I'd be just popping a line into the preconfig file if there is one, such as "CAB: /Windows/SDHC_drivers_that_I_wish_were_already_included_in_this_ROM.CAB" for example and letting it install as a cab at the preconfig stage instead of an OEM. (I'm a big preconfig fan.)
Might be quicker to use a kitchen from scratch than HyperCore to edit a pre-existing ROM though.
Hey, wow, thanks for all your help!
I still don't understand how to make an .nbh-file out of an .nbf-file though.
However I've tried copying sdbus.dll, SDHC.dll and SDMemory.dll to /Windows on the device, like I was recommended by someone else.
All that did was make my sdhc dissapear. No luck there.
I'm so frustrated, just looks like getting a proper WM5-image to work with >4G sdhc isn't feasible. Or at least, not for now.
Which is so frustrating, since there is one that does work. Gnh!
However, thanks for your time. I appriciate it.
I use this one
Try the linked one. Easy to use, I find it somewhere here.

It depends. Are we talking about the boot screen (the one that displays when booting up, with all the version numbers) or the OS splash (the welcomehead)?
If it is the first one, you have to flash it as you normally would flash any other ROM or Radio.
BEWARE: if the nbh contains also OS or Radio, it will completely flash your device and you will lose all data. So make sure you check the nbh contains only the screens.
BEWARE: make sure it is a Trinity nbh as you might harm your device if it is not. You said you found it on the forum.
If we are talking about the OS splash, you can change that by replacing the old file found in \Windows. In case you encounter an error while trying to overwrite, use resco explorer or total commander. They will do the trick.
I´m talking abou the OS file.
What´s the exact name of the file I have to replace in the Windows directory? The file I have has a strange name, certanly not the original one.

Hi ppl,
I just bricked my Asus A639 while trying to upgrade
to WM6. Probably my own fault, the SD was FAT32
rather then FAT16 and I noticed too late.
Also, I was stupid enough not to create a backup
of the WM5 first so I'm really stuck here.
I have been reading the forums on this but many topics
are mixed up ; they discuss migrating to another language
mixed up with rescueing the device.
I am not interested in switching language. I have read
that it is possible to force a WM5 image onto the device
but there are two issues ;
1. I don't fully understand how to do it
2. I don't have a WM5 image
So I guess I have two questions ...
1. Can anyone provide me a Dutch Asus A639 WM5 backup
2. Can anyone tell me how to get it onto the device.
Tnx,
c0r3
Got it fixed. Many tnx goes to cmonex !
There was a post some time ago which described how to recover from
a crashed upgrade ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308611&highlight=asus+wm6+update&page=19
I started of by downloading the official WM6 update from the Asus
site. I renamed the Update.img to A639_K733.DIO and tried to get it
onto the device. Although it did load, the PDA still wouldn't get past
the Asus welcome screen.
It appears the .img file from the update package contains too much
for this to work.
cmonex said:
find MSFLSH50 signature (search for string in a proper hexeditor!!) in the file, then go back 512 bytes and cut everything until then.
so the remaining file will have the MSFLSH signature at offset 0x200 (i.e. 512).

So I tried but could not find the "MSFLSH50" string in the .img file. Tried

Once I got the correct file from cmonex ;
1. Formatted SD FAT16
2. Rename cmonex's file to A639_K733.DIO
3. Copied file onto the SD
4. Inserted SD into PDA
5. On PDA : press+hold power+enter+reset
6. PDA enters bootloader mode and copies the file into the ROM
7. Press reset on PDA and all boots just fine although it takes a while before
it passes the Asus welcome screen. This is only the first time after the
download however. Reboots after then go as they should normally go.
The hard part in this sequence seems to be to find a decent ROM file.
Once you have a file that contains the MSFLSH50 signature it pretty
straight forward.

can somebody give my a link to .DIO file
Same problem: need Dutch .DIO
Hello there,
I have exactly the same problem as described here. I also tried a rename of the
Update.img to A639_K733.DIO which did load and was written in the ROM but the device still "hangs" at the blue "welcome" screen.
Would it be possible to obtain the "correct" .DIO from one of you guys? That would help me a lot! Thanks already in advance!
My system is originally Dutch and I would like to stick with it, so I would need a Dutch .DIO, but since I have a backup of my old system made with SpriteBackup, I guess (or better hope), also an English .DIO will do.
Again, thanks in Advance,
Andreas

Israeli users (hebrew support): this image is not the israeli original ROM image supplied by Ronlight! it does not contain Eyron Hebrew support!
Unless you already had a WM6 w/hebrew support img on your A639 flash memory, after flashing this rom img you will need to install a new third party hebrew support software!
==flashing this img can void your warranty==

I know it's an old post, but I got a bricked a639 that I only can get the bootloader to run. USB doesn't work, only updating with a A639_Kxxx.DIO works.
cmonex mentions in the post that "I uploaded the DIO to rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/182003093/A639_V10733.rar". The A639_V10733.rar file on rapidshare however contains a file called A639_V10733.NB0 and not a *.DIO...
Since I can only update using a A639_Kxxx.DIO on my sd card, does anyone have a *.DIO available? I've been searching the internet for quite a while now, but can't find a DIO for download anywhere...
Greetings Ladies and Gents,
I believe I'm having a problem here of the same sort with an Asus A639. In a few words, I wanted to upgrade WM6 to a newer version (got it from Asus support site) and the installation crashed (the message said "could not read SD card"). After reset my PDA got stuck to the Asus welcome, blue screen
Now, I followed the lead, from previous posts but got real fast, completely lost.
I also tried several files provided but did not work. The last shown on display line reads "Waiting for download !".
I am using the english version for WM6.
Can someone help me out with a complete description for what I need to do?
Thank you
Regards
Forja

Hi cmonex.
One question about your uploaded file: Am I going to unrar the file then rename A639_V10733.NB0 into A639_V10733.DIO ?
Thanks!

I've tried this, and wont work
I've changed the extension from NB0 to DIO.
After holding power + reset + enter, a gray screen appears for 2 seconds and it's written "FAT 16" ... and that's it!

Asus A639 upgrade problem...
Join me in the remarks, I have the same problem: "after holding power+enter+reset for 2 seconds fat 16 and then freezed asus blue welcome screen"
What's this exactly? I did something wrong, or the PDA does'nt work properly?
I downloaded the file that Cmonex published on Rapid, but are'nt working.
I tried to upgrade, because it does not load the operating system ... only the blue screen appears at startup.
Any idea what might be the problem?

I think I had the same problem ,
try renaming the file on the SD card to exactly A639_K733.DIO
