I am using "O2 XDAIIs" handheld device and the problem is the phone doesn't show any signal strength bars. When I click the signal bar icon on the top, it shows no service. I have tried to turn on/off the fight mode a few times but with no luck. I hope you will be able to help with my problem.
Quick obvious questions first:
1. Have you checked with your service provider? - O2 accidentally killed my GPRS access once...
2. Have you tried a soft Reset (pressing the little hidden button at the bottom with stylus)?
Have you been able to solve this problem and if so what was the cause. i am having a similar problem at certain locations with my PDA2K.

Hello all.
Here are all of the known problems that I am having. with WM6 2.01.
(1) Icons on top (connection bubble) never change with the exception of ActiveSync. 3G icon constantly stays on even if connected through WiFi. Shutting phone off still shows Cingular bars as if connected. (Known issue)
(2) Soft button configuration changes do not stick. If I change the programs associated with them, it does nothing.
Also, today screen shows Calendar and ActiveSync as soft key programs, although programs are actually Calendar and Contacts. (Its all jacked up!)
(3) I cannot connect to the internet with my celluar service. It is as if there are no settings installed. The bottom of IE says "Connecting ... 0 KB." Then I get a message saying "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your settings, tap Settings."
I have tried turning on/off, soft reset, etc., but have had no luck
---I have searched the board for an answer to #3, and I have found many people who have similar problems (does not work after 30 min, soft reset will fix), but I do not remember seeing anyone whose settings have completely dropped.
Can anybody shed any light into any of these 3 problems? I really do not use Bluetooth, so I haven't tried anything with it yet. But all other problems I have had, I have been able to fix by myself.
Thanks,
Kangle

Did you put your connection settings back in after you upgraded to WM6??
No, but I didnt save them.
My Wi-Fi is working fine, but I had to config those. On other updates I had done prior, my 3G connection was fine without having to setup settings.
If you have not already done this, you have to go under connections and set up your providers settings. To enter proper settings go to Start/Settings/Connections Add a new modem connection. Enter any name you want for the NAME ( example "Cingular ISP") and make sure that under "select a modem" tab, "Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) is sellected. Click next access point name can be what ever you want to call the provider connection (Example "wap.cingular" or "isp.cingular"). And the rest I can not help you with untill we know who your provider is. I am sure if you let us know what provider you have, some one here can post the settings you need to have.
Hope this helps or at least gets you pointed in the right direction.
Awesome. Thanks for the help.
I am to the point where I need to enter user name, password, and domain. I wonder if I am going to need to call Cingular to find out some of that info (password).
Can anybody help me out with those settings?
Thanks,
Kangle
see https://www.cingular.com/support/deviceConfig.do?content=KB71396.html
but, if you had used the "SEARCH" button you would already have found this...
Go to https://www.cingular.com/support/deviceConfig.do?content=KB71396.html for the settings.
Now I have a quick question that I need to have cleared up. When I connect onlince with my CIngular 8525 it always connects via GPRS/EDGE and not 3G. I do not see a 3G icon come up. Is this becasue there is no coverage at my home? Or did I mess up something?
I am using:
LVSW WM6 RUU_Hermes_WWE_3.30.0.1 [FIXED]
Hard SPLv7
I used the cingular setting cab found from the WIKI
I am using radio 1.40.30.00
Band setting under phone are set to auto

This would be difficult to answer, since we don't know where your home is. May I recommnd you visit THIS LINK
I have 8525 with official ATT WM6 and noticed the following problem - after getting to the area with no reception (deep in the garage) when I return to the area with perfect reception my data connection never restores until I manually turn flight mode on and then off. If I forget to do that - my email is not pushed until the next reboot. I quickly realized that I can restore it by soft reset, but then I figured that cycling of the flight mode helps as well.
Can something be done about it?
I discussed that with ATT tech support and they basically say it is “by design”:
“Nigel_G: To konste
I have checked into this further for you what happens is when you go into a area with no service and come back the voice should reconnect automatically but the data service needs to refreshed to connect like power cycle, soft reset or turning flight mode on and off this forces the device and the network to reconnect the data services.”
Sounds weird to me. Anybody can comment?
Thank you!
Konstantin
Same problem with my phone
It seems that we have the same problem.
I have noticed that the phone would report "Searching..." if it is currently searching for a signal. "No Service" means that the phone is in a no service area.
In my experience, after going into back into an area with known good signal, sometimes my phone displays "Searching..." but will never get a signal. I have to manually turn on and off flight mode. When "No Service" is displayed, the phone never ever tries to find a signal.
I have tried upgrading radio rom but it never helped.
I hope someone can shed a light into this matter.
This morning my phone lost i-net. I'm no longer able to connect to internet using 3G my browser says error on network and android market says "no connection" or something like that
The icon "H" is still displayed in status bar indicating that there is HSPD connection, but there isn't. Under the "H" there are two arrows pointing up and down, wich usualy stayed gray while no data used, and become bright while data is used. Now "down arrow" is bright all the time - something wrong. The problem is that I haven't touch any settings recently it just gone wrong this morning.
I've done hard reset - no luck, same problem.
now even cannot send sms.
What is wrong ? can I tottaly reset the phone somehow?
P.S. SIM card seems to be alright. I've put it in another phone and i-net and messages go allright.
..how do I get rid of this HSDPA ?
I want force it to regular UMTS (3G)
Hi yonef!
Firstly, I think that HSDPA is the only 3G system in this fone.
So, if you really wanna test if everything is working fine, I suggest you try to put it in 2G mode and check stuff.
Go here: Settings > Wireless & network settings > Mobile Networks > Select network
and select 2G only.
Now try to SMS and surf and see if stuff works. If its still a dud, then a call to the customer care is what you really need!
Although am quite new to android, I have been successfull in modding my trusty old Sony Ericsson K550i fone
yeep, I've just found that 2G kind of working, It is receiveing data (slow), but occasionally it says that there is no connection to internet.
It should be something with the phone, because when I put this very SIM in another phone, 3G is working just fine. When I put it back to the motorola, it is connecting ( "H" symbol apears but there is no internet
Hard reset did not fix it
And it happens jut this morning, I havent touch any settings since last week (weird)
Basically everytime i put the phone in my trouser pocket and someone tries to call me it would go straight to answer phone because it had no signal as soon as i pull it out after making the test call. id have to wait about 30 seconds then it will find signal again.
now ive done tests in different locations with strong 4 bar signal areas, but once it goes in the pocket im loosing signal.
in my car paired up with the bmw and it displays ur signal strength on the cars screen, when in the pocket no signal take it out got signla u ge tthe point.
anyways ive ordered a replacemnet handset and it arrives today at 2pm so will report back if porblem is still there.
i guess what i wanan know anyone else having this issue?????
signal issues ive heard of but this is just weird.
thanks
i just happend to have this problem today, signal would come back after switching to flight mode and back, strange oO
Try this.
I had what seemed to be this problem.
On some carriers, the One X has trouble changing between 2G and 3G / HSPA, especially if - like 3 - your carrier uses a third party for 2G signal.
Go into the operator menu by going to 'Call' and type the following:
*#*#4636#*#*
Go to 'Phone Information' and change 'Set Preferred Network Type' to WCDMA ONLY.
See if that helps.

yes, in flight mode signal strength icon is gone, but after disabling flight mode signal strength icon comes back. Strange thing is that signal icon do fluctuate as if network signal goes weak or strong.
Shall I check by inserting sim into my device?

Now after inserting sim, signal strength icon is same, no change in it. Does fluctuates, becomes blocked after resuming from flight mode for 2-3 sec until it catches network. But now unable to make call.

It's is new micro sim which I brought last week for this device. It works normal with other mobile.
I think it's problem with registration, either of product or sim.
