Maybe, this is not 100% correct? [/b]

i'd say it's correct
the leaked beta versions for himalaya and blue angel dont count
being that they are not official or the final version
and universal comes with wm2005 so it's not an upgrade to 2005

They've mixed everything up...
Yes, Windows CE 6.0 is out. Hovewer Windows CE is not Windows Mobile.
WM Screenshots that recently float all over the Web is the screenshots of Windows Mobile "Crossbow". Crossbow is more of Windows Mobile 5 Second Edition, since it uses all WM5 internal architecture.
Windows Mobile that will use CE 6.0 "Yamazaki" kernel (and therefore will be numbered Windows Mobile 6.0) is codenamed Windows Mobile "Photon", and its still in the beginner works, long way to go, at least, before Crossbow goes out.
BTW did somebody promise even Crossbow firmware upgrade for Universal?

Some people have seen Universal running Crossbow.
Currently nothing can be promised as they are under NDA.

upgrade Fujitsu loox N500 to wm6

sorry i am a bit of a beginner with all this but very confused. I want to upgrade my wm5 loox n500 with windows mobile 6 so i can run certain apps. I have read all the forums and i have downloaded the rom upgrades which say they will change my pda to wm6 - file appears to be os_122u.nbf. however after doing this which all appeared to go successfully my apps will still not run and it appears when i check that i am still on wm5
what am i doing wrong ? have i downloaded the wrong image / duff image ?
is there a dummy guide to upgrading the n500 anywhere ? is it the same for upgarde purposes as a n520 ?
any help appreciated
Craig
just by way of update after supposedly upgrading to wm6 it now says i am on version 5.1.464,
rom revision p224452-p919-v122
rom date 2006-09-20
bootloader revision 1.05
if this means anything to anybody ?
" 5.1.464"
== windows CE 5 which every windows mobile since wm5 have been build
on
where windows mobile 7 should use windows CE6
thanks Rude, just not sure how that helps me - or am i missing something ?
it gave you a version number to search if thats a 6.x version
another thing you can see is if you got threaded sms's it's one of the
few differences between wm6 wm5 apart from the glossy top panels

Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 Upgrade Policy

Hi All,
Since I upgraded my Diamond 2 (Topaz) with windows mobile 6.5 (build 21854 French) and seing so many more recent windows mobile 6.5 build (latest 23081 looks amazing), I wonder what is the Microsoft windows mobile 6.5 upgrade policy.
Will we ever be able to upgrade our devices WITHOUT flashing ROM ? I mean, will it be possible to have something like desktop windows update that will allow us to upgrade our build without the need of a hard reset ?
I clearly understand the need of upgrading whole ROM to go from one major version to another (6.0->6.1->6.5), but I don't see the point of flashing to go through 6.5 updates.
Thanks for your answers
Thomas

What is the point of flashing a new ROM in the phone?

Hi guys, I'm a newb in pda "customization" but it this seems... well.. kool... So I'd like to know what exactly is a cooked ROM and what is the main reason of flashing it into a pda.. Does it give some extra features or something like that?
Phone
windows mobile 5 > windows mobile 6 > windows mobile 6.1 > windows mobile 6.5
PC
windows 98 > windows Xp > windows vista > windows 7
NOw you understand ? yes its giving you new features , newer menus , newer programs etc.
new cooked rom is just new better software for your phone
So you mean it would actually upgrade my WM9 to WM 6.5.. That'd be awesome.. because I read somewhere on MS' support forum that this wasn't possible..

MS don´t offer WM updates for end users so you have to await updates from vendors like HTC. But don´t wait for additional Artemis updates...
The last available official ROM for the Artemis is WM6.0. But be careful with USPL. The original version will brick your phone when you flash a custom firmware.
but it's OK if I perform a cid unlock first.? Because I just did and was gonna install WM6.5 now ..

If you have already changed the USPL you can start with WM6.5
...
only if SPL is 1.11.cmon
if you don't have that SPL at device start-up, don't try flashing with a rom..
