Cracking soung In MS Voice Command - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

HI
I have installed the latest ver of MS V Command . Every time I get a call it announces the party but there is a lot of cracking sound.
Any solution to this.
Dhruv

I have the same problem...
I seem to recall reading about a registry tweak to fix this, but I can't seem to find it.
I THINK it has something to do with the ring WAV and the voice command both trying to generate sound at the same time.
Can anyone confirm this?
Do we have a fix that works?
M

Hi
Does anyone have an update on this.
Dhruv

I disabled announcing incoming calls

helll!
any solution?
registrysolution posted on this site didn't solve the problem at all.
everytime on two soundchannels coming together it cracks a lot :-(
like a soundinterupt occured?!??
hardware bug at every device?

This bug is on BA only  registry hacks didn't help!

Answer Machine Software

Hi
Quite a while ago i had software on my Symbian OS Nokia that worked as an answer machine. It was great. I have had no luck finding one for the Pocket PC. Has anyone seen one about.
Some key advantages included:
No cost for reteiving messages from the network
Quick access to messages
Multiple answer recording depending on caller and situation ie friend calls answer 'hi man in a meeting leave a message' vs business caller 'Sorry i am in a meeting at moment...'
I have found a couple that uses sms to reply but none that actually record the voice.
Any ideas?

Im sorry, I might not have explained my self. I'm after software that will do voicemail. I want to take a voice recorded message from the caller rather than have it diverted to my network voicemail.
I like the sms idea though and I'm sure the 2 applications could be integrated etc.
Hi
I have been doing a lot of investigation into this subject as i think its a neat idea. I know it has been asked many many many times before in this forum as i have dredged deep into the archives so I'm just wanting to share some info as to what i have found and find out if there have been any new developments since the last relivant posts a few months ago.
I have found this software i used to use called smartanswer for a symbian nokia
http://www.symbianware.com/product.php?id=sanswer60&pl=n6600
So i know it is possible on a similar system but different OS. I haven't managed to found any real reason for it not being able to be done on a pocket pc yet although I'm sure there is a reason or else it would have been created several times over already.
Anyway its just my small blabber wasting time in my lunch break.
phatbloke:
I've been asked about this numerous times, and you say that you've found no good reason why it's not happened yet:
Basically, as I understand it, and I know next to nothing about this area, but basically, the Phone PocketPC is just a pocketpc with an entirely seperate piece of hardware for the phone. The two are independant.
Inorder to control the "phone", the pocketpc comunicates with it through a COM port, sending commands to start calls, data connections etc. However, as I understand it, we have no direct means to access the audio/in out. So, although this is bog standard on many intelligent phones, the pocketpc was never designed around phone hardware, but merely slapped on piggyback.
Being able to record the calls is obviously essential to the answering machine. Some of the clever boys on this site have said that this is impossible or unlikely until we reverse engineer the drivers, and this hasn't happened yet AFAIK. Again, if this is all ball-ocks then someone please correct.
I can monitor missed calls, hangup incoming calls, log all that and so on, but spooling audio in and playing something down the line evades us for now.
Look here towards the end for discussion and futile ideas I had:

PS if you follow the first thread, someone mentioned that Resco Sound recorder can record both in and outgoing audio on calls. Can you try that software? If that works, it might be possible. But I've seen no verification and don't have the opportunity to check it myself.
Hi all,
I am understanding; Microsoft don't publish some "sensitive" APIs like recording audio from downlink, etc. ..... I am Symbian Software Engineer; That is everyday life for me.
So, while using Symbian, you have the possibility to make requests to Symbian or Nokia for getting access to their internal API. We do that several times... perhaps for muting microphone, GSM trace information, etc. Exists there a business case to get access to Microsofts internal API?
A contact will be very helpfully!
Thanks a lot!

Voice Command/SMS Reader

Hi all,
I'm looking for an application that can read SMS out loud (so I can read my sms while driving). Does anyone know of a good application for that?
Also, the WM5 voice commander allows me to call people without recording voice tags, does anyone have any voice commander that can do the same?
thanks all!
microsoft voice command will do the trick, not sure if there are others. The voice kinda sucks though.

I have the pantech duo and when i first got it i made it read my texts as i recieved them. I stopped using that feature and since then I've updated from wm5 to wm6. Now i want to re-enable it reading my texts but I can't find it. I've looked for hours on my phone, online, and even through the manual. All I can find is that microsoft voice command does it but I have no clue how to enable it or how I did it when i first got the phone. How do I enable it?!?!?!
EDIT: I FOUND IT!!!! ok so i know i didn't do it this way when i had wm5 but in wm6 I went into file explorer then /windows/vconfig_sp

microsoft voice command compatibility?

Any member has info as to wich rom cooked or not works with microsoft voice command mainly the notifications of messages and incomiong calls to the speakerphone ? please share your knowledge thanks in advance!
Another question might be... Does anyone know when MS is going to come out with a WM6 version of Voice Command?
Yes version 1.6 is made for WM5 and will run on WM6 but I have the same issues with all WM6 Rom's I have tried where it does not work with notifications or txt/email/phone calls.
What's odd is that it work's GREAT on the Wizard builds of WM6. I used VC on my Wizard with almost every different published ROM including more than a few of my own. It always worked flawlessly on that platform.
That is strange because for me, in WM6 I have only ever been able to get the "Voice Commands" part of the program to work.
It never reads any notifications and someone told me it will read txt and emails too but I have never found a way to make it do that either.
VC 1.6 does work with WM6, but requires patches
I apologize, I cannot put my hands on the files with directions for you. But if you search around the site, you can find the 0.9f cab file to install, and the files to update your version of VC 1.6 to v1.6.17913, which will allow all Voice Command features on the Hermes (including Bluetooth).

To have your phone read your e-mail to you requires a different program than Voice Command (perhaps Cyberon's Voice Commander? - I'm not sure).
Good luck!

Hope this works!
Thanks and I thank Google XDA search as well
EDIT:
YAY Reading notifications now! THANKS!
And I guess when they told me it reads emails they meant it reads "From" and the "Subject" that are shown in the notifications.
EDIT2:
So now why did I have to download this version here and not from Microsoft? Still kind of feel like I wasted money seeing as how I ended up using a version found on these forums.
Here is a MS Voice Command 1.6 and BT Patch ONLY ExtROM that I use when building my ROMs. It will install everything the exact way necessary to get announcements and BT to work without any further changes. Just install, Run, Pair your BT, Soft Reset, and have fun.

Voice Commander
Another thing to check once you install that update, go to settings, then voice command settings and double check your setting for notifications. The default setting "Announce notifications using bluetooth hands free only".. i change my to Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available.
hope this helps.. but for me, this is holding me up a long time, unless I finally realized. Working fine for me since, with ALL ROMS i have tried.
I'm using ...
... Voice Commander on my newly upgraded UK T-Mobile Vario II with Fun_Key latest WM6 ROM.
Works great, its naturally a little faster at recognising my voice than it was on WM5.
Havent tried notifications though, i used to use it for incoming SMSs but got fed up of it announcing my T-Mobile remaining Flext credits (sms's sent automatically) every few days or so!

I downloaded and installed this. Turned the phone off and then back on.
But now my 8525 locks up whenever I slide out the keyboad. Help?!?
I'm running the WM6 provided by Cingular/HTC
Do I need to actually install Voice Commander 1.6 THEN install the above?
Either way, I'm guessing my 8525 now needs a hard reset

Yes, I can confirm build 19209 does NOT announce incoming calls. Has anyone tried a diff build that works?
Hi, did you check the relevant boxes (i.e. "phone" in the voice command settings to voice enable them?
On another note, does version 1.621725 support voice dialing and voice activation of apps? Somehow I'm not able to map a button to activate voice command's listening function. Any ideas?

yes and yes.
settings->buttons Button 1 (Hold) -> Voice Command.
has anyone ever tried 1.6.21728 or 1.6.21812?
With my TyTn2, I remember certain ROMs would not work with certain builds of VC. So maybe we can list here the TP2 ROMs and VC builds that we've tried and failed so others can pick up until finally someone gets a combination that's 100% working.
I'll start:
ROM: 1.19.707.2 (51489) WWE, VC 1.6.19209 = no incoming call announcement
I'll continue
ROM 1.19.401.0
MSVC 1.6.19209
I installed a newer version of Voice Command (1.6.21725) and did this little reg change:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3735744&postcount=14
I think it should work with 1.6.19209
Now I have incoming call anouncement (quite loud). BUT the ringer is very soft and the announcement stops after 3 times WITH the ringer very soft. So, you may miss a call.
Anyone knows how to shut off the incoming call announce DURING a call? It is very annoying if you have call waiting and talking to someone and someone else calls you. VC would announce the caller and you can't hear the person you're talking with.
Ok. Here is one for you all. I have gone in and checked everything that applies under msvc properly. My incoming calls are announced, as well as e-mails. It will not, however, announce sms!? Anyone else have this problem? I am running Valkyrie Firestorm 4.8.23506 ROM...also msvc 1.6.19214
Any help would be appreciated.
This is all due to the new Broadcom BT drivers in recent WM6.5 builds. They are much better drivers than the old ones. There is nothing you can do to fix this. MS will need to update VC for a resolution, but since they are planning on replacing it I wouldn't hold my breath.
This is really bugging me, I am used to having VC announce calls on my Diamond. Check out post 82 at this thread:
forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41645&page=9[/url]
It seems as though the original Pro was having the same problem in the beginning. The fix kind of worked for me. This is the last thing I need to make my phone perfect
Hi,
So I compiled all the MS voice command fixes into a thread.
And out came the MS Voice command config app. The mortscript app will back up your current settings and allow you to update them.
If you want to test any of the features posted there that are not in the release version, let me know and i will send you an update to test.

Forwarded call notification/identification

Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place for my question.
I own HTC Hermes and HTC Rhodium and since I have changed to WM devices I noticed that when I get a forwarded call from my office I cannot identify if it's forwarded or not. Searched and shearched google and xda and I can only found a pay program to do it where http://www.xtkit.com/archives/51
Has anyone tried it? Works? Is there any other solution like registry modification?
I really need to know when a call is forwarded to me.
Thanks!
