Keyboard from IPAQ H2210 - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I've just got a M500 and having used a IPAQ H2210 I'd much prefer the keyboard from that. For those who don't know it's just like a real keyboard where you have the numbers in row over the keys. Hope someone can help.

you can set this in settings - input (or when keyboard apears, klik right down corner and select options) and set the keyboard to small keys, you get the same then
goodluck

That's exactly what I wanted thanks willumpie82. Don't know why the default isn't small keys? It's not like there's much difference.

no i believe it will not.... the keyboard replacement you bought are just button pads... external only and does not contain the board that corresponds to the button press.... this means it will still follow the original keyboard format even if the buttons say otherwise... you could use a software however to remap these buttons to suit your new keyboard layout.
Universal Keyboard
Hi!
I have a Universal with a German keyboard running WM6 in English.
There is no need for any sort of special software to map the keys when you change from German to English. When you load a WWE WM6 your device will automatically have a US QWERTY layout. It will be then up to you to remember your Touch Typing 101 lessons.
It's generally not that bad with letters and numbers--just swap the Y and the Z. Punctuation is harder. When I first got my phone I printed out the keyboard layouts from both a German Vodafone manual and an UK manual and carried them around for reference. After two months I don't even notice anymore.
Good luck,
shrines
Hi,
Why are you suggesting that??? It's much easier to fix the registry for the german layout. That's what I have.
1. for the german keyboard on english ROM
2. get a registry editor (like Resco)
3. search the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
4. edit - Layout in decimal to 66567 (from 66569)
5. softreset
(thanks to macznik)

WM5 keyboard love. I HATE the WM6 keyboard. Can we switch back?

Can we "downgrade" to the WM5 on-screen keyboard layout? I dont like skins that waste room, I just want the good old fashion WM5 version I have used over the last 2 years back!
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan
*bump* thanks for any input....
Have I stumped this board?
The base Keyboard dll are pretty much the same in WM5 and WM6. If you don't like the skin used on your WM6, you can always cook a new rom from it and replace the keyboard related files - well that's basically the idea but on how to cook and what to replace a bit of research will have to be done of course
one can also just install the skin one wants and use that no building a full rom is required
Try this package, it includes the original white with black letters and alot of others. It should work with your cooked WM6 rom

I figured this out a while ago and forgot about this topic. I am replying to help any searches people may have.
Solved.
To change the keyboard layouts:
While in notes/messaging/email/etc (where you can write) press the arrow to the right of the keyboard. This will open up the menu.
Be sure thet "keyboard" has the dot to the right of it.
Choose "options"
On the first "Input Method" tab, simply choose "small keys".
This will add the numbers on the top row as well as a few other keys that are missing with the "large keys" option.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers,

Changing HARDWARE keyboard Qwerty -> Azerty

Hi,
How can i change QWERTY hardware keyboard to AZERTY (not layout in rom),k hardware changing ?
is there a way ? i need this to..
Hi,
After installing a dutch ROM, your machine only recognises "QWERTY".
It is easy to switch to "AZERTY" :
Physical keyboard (=hardware keyboard) : you need to install the cab-file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5496980&postcount=938
Virtual Keyboard (= keyboard on touchscreen) :
When keyboard deployed, click the arrow next to the tiny keyboard onscreen. It will show you some options. From the dropdown menu, select the second from top item (which should be "Nederlands" in your case) and choose "Frans" instead. Unfortunately, by doing this, you will loose the auto-correction function for the Dutch language.
If somebody has a BETTER solution, I will be glad to read.
Have you tried the rhodium key controller. It is available here on xda. you can change any key to any function.

[Q] Accent Characters (á, é, í) on physic Keyboard

Hi,
I have a HTC TILT 2, (AT&T) Rhodium, with android last version FRX 07
How can I get accent characters (Spanish) on the physic keyboard, á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, ??? etc.
Thanks,
Doesn't appear to be a layout for Spanish:
physkeyboard=rhod100_de
physkeyboard=rhod100_fr
physkeyboard=rhod100_it
physkeyboard=rhod100_uk
physkeyboard=rhod100_nordic
Perhaps IT would work? That's for RHOD100's tho, If you have a RHOD300, how does it have special characters? I thought all the ATT Tilt2's had US keyboards...?
Feel free to make one and make a merge request against the rootfs.
arrrghhh : Thanks for your fast answer,
My rhodium has a US keyboard, and was buy in US, I checked an is a RHOD300, but I need write on Spanish.
I want to keep the same keyboard layout, but get the accented characters with some of this option: double pulse, pulse length -long, or a key combination or other. Par example, on Windows Mobile 6.5 (Rom Energy) I use the app “rhodium Keyboard Controller GSM/CDMA v1.4” to remap the keyboard http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
I mean, i get the accent characters by long press
a + long press = á,
n +long press= ñ
I will try the Italian (maybe is similar but doesn’t have same accents, diacritics, specially “ á “ and “ ñ ” ) option but my technical knowledge (and my English) is limited, so your advice is welcome
Thanks

Oh.
I don't know how this would be done... I would think Android has some native-way of remapping keys... But I'm not aware of any way how. Never looked into it.
In the short term, why not just use the soft keyboard?
Edit - did a little bit of googling and found this. Not ideal, I haven't found an app to do it yet.
Edit 2 - I can't find an app for the life of me. These might help tho.
