Install on Storage Card - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

When I install the files from PC - thru active sync, I am able to select the 'Storage Card" instead of the default program memory for installation.
But how can I select the 'Storage Card' if I want to install using the CAB file in the PPC itself?? Does this need any registry hack??

Look for CABINSTL in the forum. It allows you to choose the location to install.
Victor

using a registry editor, goto
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" -> "SOFTWARE" -> "Apps" -> "Microsoft Application Installer"
and set fAskDest to 1 (0x1)
from now on, whenever you install anything, you'll get a popup confirming the installation destination folder, and storage device (memory, storage card, etc )

Creating Start Menu SubFolder on Storage Card

Is it possible to have a Start Menu folder structure located on the Storage Card, with all the shortcuts to my programs (that are installed on the Storage Card), and then link that to the \Windows\Start Menu folder structure.
So that when I upgrade my ROM's or hard reset, I don't have to recreate all my shortcuts on the Start Menu.
At the moment I have a "\Storage Card\Start Menu" folder, with a bunch of shortcuts in it.
I've created a Shortcut called "My Start Menu" in "\Windows\Start Menu" pointing at my storage card folder.
So it kind of works, but when I click on that it exits the Start Menu and opens the folder. So none of the programs that I run are 'remembered' on the start menu.
Or is there another program that will do this for me.

Not sure if you can do that. However I too have installed most of my programs in the storage card. When I need to reload after a Hard reset or flashing I just copy the shortcuts of the programmes loaded in the storage card (from the storage card/program file folder) and past them on the todayscreen using spb plus today plugin. This works for most, but not all software.

[REQ] Cab Installation Customizer

How hard would it be to create a program that would allow you to set on your device how all cabs are installed.
For eg, what if i want all cabs to install to my storage card and to be able to set that for eg via a program similar to cab via active sync, so i wouldn't have to manually choose the install location for every single cab i install?
It would have to have the option to select multiple tabs to install with parameters the user could select or choose, so either all to device or all to storage card for eg.

HTC Touch Pro 2

Dear XDA Forum visitors,
i got the TP2 yesterday. Now i have an important program on my memory sd card. I want to create a fast way in the menu "start" to go to the program.
Instead of going to the "verkenner" (discoverer?!?) and then go to the right place on the sd-card. I hope there is a faster way to go to the program, but i dont know how.
plz help!
Go to the verkenner , look up your program then tip and hold the file until the context menu appears. Select Copy. Then goto \Windows\StartMenu (the folder will probably labeled different in your locale), tip and hold on an empty space and select "Insert Shortcut" (will again be labeled differently for your locale). This will place a shortcut to your application into the start menu. Then you can select it with Start -> All and you can of course assign it to one of the shortcut buttons.
you can also make a lnk file but that wont be as fast unless you already know how to make one

tried this to create a short cut for my storage card and get an error message
either not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cant be found
how can i get around this
thanks for any help
I have the same problem
I have tested it on two differnet devices.
Even if I create a shortcut to a blank folder I get a certificate error.
Any help would be appreciated.
Shaya
It can be that the program is uncertified or has a bad certificate. In stock rom's those apps don't work. In the coocked one's they mostly do.

Let us know if this solved the problem
I have not tried your fix as I have not yet done a backup.
I do not think this will solve the problem as when i switch to the original WM start menu the shortcut works. So it is something to do with touchFlo.
Just to explain you can recreate the problem yourself.
1. Create a blank folder on your SD card.
2. Copy and paste a shortcut to this folder in \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
If you try and run this from the touchFlo programs screen you get a certificate error, if you switch to WM start menu it works fine.
to switch to WM start menu edit the registry as seen in Cabs,Tips,Tweaks etc
HKLM\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu
EnableManilaStartMenu =
1(orginal TF3D startmenu) / 0(old WM startmenu)

Default open program [FIXED]

It seems I have messed up something :/
I use Apolo File Manager and I have a dir with installation files (.apk). When I browse the dir and click on any of the .apk files, I get "Cannot play video".
It looks like I have changed the default program to open .apk files.
Anyone have an idea how to restore this?
OK, I found the solution.
Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications
I chose Photos and touched the "clear defaults"

access system files in windows 10 mobile???

How to access system files through file explorer in windows 10 mobile without PC
I know only this trick on phones with SD card, which works on latest W10M version: Download for example Total Commander from the Store. In app choose "User-defined location". "Choose an app" dialog will appear, choose SD card drive ( D: ). File explorer will popup - then choose some root folder. Notice, that in top line appears full path - "This PC > D: > Folder". Click on "This PC" (C:, U: drives should appear). Click on Done button at bottom and from now you can jump to "This PC" directly from Total commander.
