Dont take the battery out!
This is what is causing you to lose all your data. All the data on your xdaIIs is sored in RAM not ROM. Which means that as soon as hte battery runs flat or you take the battery out the phone loses all your data.
The backup battery does empty very quick once you take out your battery, so dont do it. Just use the soft reset button on the bottom of the device to perform a reset if it crashes. Dont hold the power button whilst pressing the soft reset button at the bottom as this would also cause you to lose all your data.
Upgrade to the latest rom. Look in the WIKI for instructions.
ok thx...but may i know what is "wiki instruction"?...
and how to upgrade the rom to be latest? u mean the "drver" or change to be a newest rom for my xda? sorry for so many question..!
and i heard that if i installed spb..it will make xda iis always slow and freeze or hard reset alwasy...is it true?

Hello all, I beg thee if you can help me, my friend "stole" my xda orbit while I was erm drunk and changed a load of settings, inc adding a password. When I was sober he told me what it was so I could use the phone again. But last night I accidently wanted to change the 4 digit number code that you do when the phone goes inactive for like 1 minute...Instead I think I accidently activated some password...everytime I go to restart the xda I get grilled for a password and if its wrong the time counter keeps going up and up...
Basically I really either need to crack or deactivate this password or some how backup my txts and phone...as I didn't before and theres a few sentimental texts I don't want to lose...
I hope you can help me
i think you might be stuck unless you can figure out the passcode!
i dont think it lets you sync your phone at all does it?
no sync
no asks for a password before sync-ing wondered if there was an alternative to activesync that would work??
was about bootloader mode, if you can go in you would be able to flash a (new) rom.....
errr right
you've lost me, last time I did rom flashing was on a very old XDA and ive forgtten..help!?!
You just have to go to WM6 artemis part of the forum, read the topics about "how to flash" and use the last wm6 rom B&B v3.7.
Before that, ensure bootloader mode is available.
Good luck
huh
1 I don't know how to know if bootloader mode is available
2 I think im on WM5!?
If it is a UK model then he can flash it back to the original ROM using the microSD card first if it will not connect by USB cable.
Yes its an 02 XDA Orbit and I live in the uk and it is a UK phone...so I guess I can but how the hell!? lol Thankyou by the way you may have saved me!
As it seems no backup was done, what about trying to ask a repair center if they can "unlock" the password. Of course you will have to show to purchase invoice ....
Thanks, that will be my alternative if the rom flash doesnt work...just need to be told how to do it via micro sd!!!!

I will PM you about the file you need as all references to it seem to have been removed from the site.
You then put the file onto an empty microSD card and put the card into the phone.
When you turn on the phone ho hold in the 'record' button (top left hand side viewed from the front of the phone) and the phone should go into boot-loader mode and recover the OS from the microSD card.
EDIT: NOT removed, just unpinned! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314866
Does it matter if anything else is on the SD card?
Do I need to update to a newer WM5 Rom after as I think i saw that 02 1 is a bit old??

Sorry, but doesnt a hard reset solves this problem?? (if the lock is on the phone) sipmle and quick solution.
If it is the sim that is locked, contact you provider.
Considering flashing the ROM is deffinately going to wipe any saved texts etc. Surely a simpler option is a hard reset?
Press and hold both soft-keys, press the stylus into the reset hole, release reset, wait for message on screen and release soft-keys.
This will return the phone to out-of the -factory state, so again you will loose all saved data in system memory and all installed applications in system memory.

Not quite. Flashing the ROM will erase your "sentimental" messages.

Yes, but it is looking like he is going to lose them no matter what happens.
Just Hard Reset it....Wont ask for the password...you will loose your data on the device though....and if your data is on the PC can sync again...no issue there...but the service centers will not remove the password...I had the same issue...and thats what i did.
cheers
yeah all you have to do is hard reset the pda and then the password will be erased, along with all your data ofc.
It would be interesting though to find a way to "crack" the password or somehow remove or bypass it.....
like some kind of PUK code?
it stuck's at the windows mobile scrren anda don't know what to do help me please
why anyone can help me
i dont uinderstand why my posts don't have anwser
Is this a joke?
Hmmmm....
Don't take it as an offend, but you are at the wrong forum.
I believe you have to ask the question on the right one.
This forum is for QTEK 9000.
Please feel free to look and search before you post.
If you look here it seems that the early QTEK Uni was branded as the 4040 so please dont be so quick to flame...
Anyway onto the problem. Try a hard reset and clear by pressing 0 when asked. if that fails then reflash the rom in the usual way. That should cure the problem.

sorry man i had a very bad day realy sorry how do i hard reset my qtek
No need to apologise. I have had a hell of a day myself mate.
Extract below is taken from the Universal Wiki - Perhaps you may find all of it an interesting read in
To do a hard reset (push the two menu buttons ("-") on the keyboard + the reset button at the same time (all of this three). Doing a hard reset will result in you losing all your installed apps and data so ensure you have a backup of everything first.) Everything should be fine from this time. You have to calibrate the screen and do some setting up...

Hello, i'm sorry to get this thread back up, but i'm having a problem that looks much like this.
I can power the device on, but it powers off sometimes at QTEK screen, sometimes at Windows mobile screen, and sometimes i can do the whole setup thing, and when it begins at installing extended, it powers off again! :s
I can get in bootloader, so i don't know if it's bricked or not,
The device is a QTEK 9000
Radio 1.15
the Windows Mobile 6 version of Jmwright or something like that (Latest version)
Can anyone post me a quick walktrough of what i have to do to get my device back up and running... If you suggest another ROM from another developer which doesn't have that camera buffer problem etc, because i really want to start using this device in a safe way.
Thx in advance, i really appreciate all the work done here.. Just want my problem fixed asap
Greetz,
Vergracht Nikki
I bought a S620 on Ebay and it arrived yesterday with some info still on it and I want to reset the phone.
I have read the online user guide and it says to go into 'Expert' and there should be a 'Clear Storage' icon, that icon is missing. Is there a hidden security measure that will bring that icon back.
Is there any other way to clear all the storage, I am very new to this phone so its all a bit new to me and I hope someone can help.
Thanks for your time in advance
you need to check if rom version is original or no,i think that have to be wm6.0, if you flash you s620 with kavana-ricky rom version wm6.1, that you can find in this forum with all instruccion you will clean all your s620(excalibur)
good luck
ps. when i coming to this site i had to read a lot, but you will find a lot of people that will help you and other that no it is normal in this site, go ahead

It does not seem to have an accessories icon either so that form of hard reset is not possible either, I think it was set up to a certain corporate program and I can't seem to get it back to normal

yes i did but it still is frozen on the windows mobile screen when i took the battery out will i lose all my info if i reflash it to stock.

yea but if you reflash you can use the phone
double post sorry
i did the same thing when i first saw it, you'll have to hard reset your phone. what that cab does is replaces the CHome regesrty with new ones(ones from 6.5), and 6.1 isn't able to handle it. if you want them, you'll have to flash your phone to a 6.5 rom. ookba, and NGR have made 6.5 roms. check them out.

no you won't lose your info by pulling the battery out. but you will lose it by hard resetting and flashing to any rom.
just hard reset it
just hard reset it if u know how
Upon every reboot I get the following error message:
Your device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source... ... ...
It goes on to say press the UP VOL button to hard reset or any other button to continue.
I press any other button and it proceeds to boot correctly.
Any way to disable the message?
VZW TP2 - Stock 6.5 ROM
EDIT / UPDATE: If don't touch anything when it is on this screen it will eventually continue to boot normally... so again I would just like to disable this message if at all possible.
Anybody???
Or maybe an idea of where to look for log files so I can tell what specifically is causing it?
I've had the same message at least twice now. Almost had a heart attack the first time. Mine also rebooted fine after a minute or so. Not sure what caused this.
For me this happens everytime I reboot.
I did a hard reset and after installing and configuring everything, it is happening again.
It isn't affecting anything, just annoying.
Anybody?
Having this screen come up after every reboot is really annoying.
Surely somebody has had this happen before..
after you hard reset did you reinstall all your applications again... is that what you mean by configured it? If so it's likely one of your programs that's causing it. If you didn't install anything and it still pooched out like that then, well I'm stumped!
It started happening after I installed everything, but everything works on it.
There has to be some type of log file somewhere that will tell me what is causing it
You may just want to go and take the time to install a program and then see if it happens... when you get to the one that you know causes it.. uninstall it and see if the issue is still there. If not then carry on with installing all your other aps you have left doing the same thing to see if any of them cause the issue. It may take some time to do but it cant take along longer then waiting around for someone to chime in on some advice for you. Gotta do what you gotta do right?
