There are lots of myths regarding lithium batteries.. some say you are not supposed to overcharge it (charge it only when it's running out)
Some say it doesn't matter since lithium can be recharged as much as you want and it won't deteroriate the battery's life.
Which one? Can I recharge my Touch Pro 2 every night before I go to bed and leave it until morning? or should I do it when it's running out to preserve the battery's life?
You should keep the device on A/C power as much as possible. So, it's fine to charge daily overnight. Every once in a while, you should let the battery run all the way out before recharging. What this will do is keep your battery meter reading accurate. If you don't do this, eventually, your device will "think" it has more juice than it actually does.

Nahhh, not fully true. Somewhere else on the site of batteryuniversity it sais that completely discharging the battery will reset it's memmory. This is usefull after a lot of charges and discharges (in the beginning, I think they already did this (you may hope).
(the memmory helps the battery know where his power is storaged and how much power the battery has left. But doing this frequent speeds up the battery 's lenght of life

Use it normal
Batteries have a duration of 3-4 years aprox, no matter if you charge it every night or leave it till it´s empty...
When battery fails you buy another one and so on

My experience with the battery life on my touch pro 2 is that I will keep the phone usually docked in my cradle on my desk when working so it's always on charge. When I use my battery I wait till it's about 40-30% drained and will stick it on the cradle again.
When I'm in my bed ready to sleep, I use the normal charger and leave it on charge over night.
Still experimenting though.

Do you have a cradle for your Rhodium ? Where did you get it ?

Hmm, first of all Li-ion batteries have NO MEMORY unlike NiCd batteries. You probably refer to resetting the reading gauge - which is related to device's capability of getting accurate reading rather than battery itself. It is recommended to let the device die once a month and give it a full charge to "recalibrate" phone's battery meter (not the battery).
But you should avoid hitting 100% battery mark as well as going bellow 30% as much as possible.
from my experience as a phone shop owner and owner of many many phones i always advise my customers and friends as follows:
1st charge 10-12 hrs. allow battery to fully discharge
2nd charge at least 8 hrs
after 2nd charge you can charge and use as you want. the initial 2 charges kick start everything and starts your battery cycle on good stead
never had any complaints!

The battery should be as cold as possible when charged. So if you are using the phone the battery power drains and is charged at the same time. Therefore it gets warmer than without.
Best for the battery is to be charged when the device is switched off completely.
I wouldn't consider that much of a problem, because you have bought the device to use it and not to live in fear that you treat the battery right
when plugged into USB and playing a game on my TP2 I got the message the device is using too much power, and it drained the battery even though recharging via USB. No problems when using AC adapter though.
Used my XDA Orbit 2 for 2 years now, and mostly charged at free will. Battery is still fine, so no special charging rules for me...
I noticed though, that charging over USB takes quite some time while charging over AC cable is done within an hour or so. When looking at my AC it has 5 Watts of output power, while the USB only has 2.5. That would explain your issue with the battery running out even when having the USB cable plugged in.

Anyone have any ideas why my phone refuses to charge my battery correctly and the wall charger that came with my two spare batteries does a much better job? If I charge my battery through the phones usb I get maybe 5 hours of use but when I use the charger that came with my 2 cheap spare batteries I'll get 8 to ten no matter which battery I use.

basically it is charging your battery correctly. The problem you are likly having are
1) your battery stats is off and you ahvent recalibrated it so the phone is stopping the charge early
2) you leave the phone plugged in for long periods of time because the phone does not use a trickle charge process it does nto stay at 100% and can acctually be anywhere from 90-100% charged even though the light is green
the reason there is no trickle charge is to try to prolong the life of the battery. the battery stats is to try and help the phone gauge when to shut the phone off and when to stop charging so it doesnt completly drain the battery or over charge it. both have benefits and draw backs.
try recalibrating your battery so that the phone has a better understanding of the acctual life (you may charge the battery fully in the wall charger then put it in the phone wipe battery stats in recovery and the let it drains till the phone shuts off. recharge it fully and go on your way.
the no trickle not a lot you can really do about that.
Guess that makes sense. So you think I should get a full charge from my wall charger then wipe battery stats from my recovery then let it drain 100 % then full charge it and it should recalibrate it?

Maybe you've noticed the messages I've sent to Unofficial BravoS thread of Coolexe's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200517&page=51) which is the ROM I use.
The issue is, the battery discharges rapidly. Actually, if you check mV values, it doesn't discharge rapidly, but if you look at percentages, there is a huge inconsistency. I used Battery Monitor Widget to log the battery performances last night, and saw these horrible results:

These are the last lines of the log, before the phone shuts down. As you can see, the phone gone to 0% from 34% in one minute! No low battery warnings or whatsoever..
Funny thing is, this doesn't happen in StarBurst ROM (which is a Froyo based one). Do you reckon this is a GingerBread issue or something? I saw some other people complaining about their phone shutting down at 20% as well.
So, what do you suggest?
when you look at the voltage there isnt that much drain, so its only a displaying problem
wipe battery stats and maybe recalibrate the battery
but first one should fix it

Drained battery to 0% (log above) and charged it a little bit while powered off (like 20%). Turned on the phone, and obtained those logs (last lines only):

It seems more "smooth" discharge now. Right now, I'm charging my phone off; going to turn on phone once it reaches "green light" with charger on, and plug it off once phone booted. Maybe then, it can know what's maximum and minimum.
So far, I tried to charge my phone to full and erase batterystats.bin but, as you can see at the first post, it didn't work well.. On the other hand, the phone charged-discharged only once in this ROM, you think it could be better if I've given a "second chance"?
i dont know much about that "battery calibrating" and reseting stuff, you have to search in the forum
only thing i want to say is, dont do that deep drains!
recharge at least 5%! you kill your battery, lithium-ion batterys get serious damage from deep drains

I know, but when phone thinks it's 30% and not warn me, how can I do it?
In order to calibrate the battery meter - FYI the battery itself cannot be calibrated, as Li-Ion batteries have a very low memory compared to old Ni-Cd etc. batteries - you have to go through the following procedure:
1) charge the battery to 100%;
2) let the battery discharge until the phone shuts itself down;
3) plug the wall charger into the phone, boot the phone up then charge the battery to 100% without interruptions.
If the above procedure does not yield the expected results, you can try fully charging the phone (LED showing green) with it completely turned off (after completely draining it). Again, the charging procedure should not be interrupted.
Source: personal experience - had to do this twice after installing new ROMs, as the phone was shutting down at ~14% (working like a charm now).
Regarding the matter of battery wear because of complete discharges, Li-Ion batteries do indeed have a lower cycle count than old-school batteries, but the standard charge/discharge number a Li-Ion battery can take is ~350, so you can't damage the battery pack by doing a full cycle per month (required to keep the battery meter accurate).

Today I realized that it my concern was a quick one. Today, I discharged battery to 0 percent, plugged the AC charger while it's OFF and charged it for around 2h22m until Led-green-full; then turned on the phone with charger plugged and plugged it off just after the boot process. After that, I let the phone to discharge (I helped it a little )
I actually saw "Plug your charger" warning this time, and according to Bat. Mon. Widget, it gone down until 13%! If I do compare the mV values with the old ones, I can see that somehow the phone does learn which mV value correspond to which percentage better.
Even though it gone from 13% to 0% in two minutes, it's at least better than 30% to 0%.. Also, when I check the readings after I plugged in, I saw that percentage-voltage matching is slightly higher, showing that the phone now shows lower percentage for the same voltage - which shows that it learns percentage better.
After one or two charge-discharge cycle, I think it'll learn absolute 0
BTW; the battery says 3.4V 1400mAh and my maximum voltage is 4160mV (100%) and minimum is 3415mV (0%). Are these values normal, you think?
PS: What I'd recommend from anyone who loves flashing ROMs as much as I do is: AFTER YOU FLASHED A NEW ROM, CHARGE YOUR BATTERY TO FULL (100%) AND ERASE THE BATTERY STATS. AFTER THIS, NEVER, I SAY, NEVER ERASE YOUR BATTERY STATS FOR LONG TIME IN ORDER FOR YOUR PHONE TO LEARN STATS BETTER! Erase after long time, say 3 months for wear effects to be accounted, but well, I think you should be fine even after you don't do this

EDIT: Phone shutdown at 13% after this, but I think it'll do better in time..
Can't Calibrate the Widget
I am having a similar issue with my htc aria. Problem is that it gets to about 78% and then won't go any higher. It even shows (in Battery Monitor Widget)
"Discharging" and "AC plugged". I have let it sit plenty long enough to be fully charged and then completely discharged it (until it shut itself down, which was not 0%) and recharged until it reaches 78% again and stops charging. I'm guessing it is so far out of whack that it says I'm at 78% but I am really at 100%.
The widget says to charge to 100% and then drain completely to 0% to calibrate. I can't do either from what I can tell. So what to do?

Quick tip - let the phone charge for another hour or so after the light goes green (when charging it while powered off). I've read that the light goes green at about 95%. It takes another hour for the phone to really charge to 100%. That's because Li-Ion batteries use two stages to charge: a fast one and a slow one. More details here.

P.S. - It also took me two complete charge/discharge cycles to fully calibrate my battery meter after switching from FroYo to Gingerbread.
@vkyjackie - Try fully charging the phone while powered off. If it still doesn't fully charge (LED green), then you might have an issue with either the battery pack or the wall charger.

Then I plugged it in at 8:05AM this morning.
At 9:05AM it was at 45%.
Pretty impressive.
(Once charged to 100%, should I wipe the battery stats and drain down to 0% again? This is how you would calibrate it correct?)

If you are getting incorrect stats then yes, clear the battery stats. The best way to calibrate is to drain, refill & repeat. Along the way when the battery is 100%, turn it off and charge it till it says its full again. Do this a few times when it's unplugged and you will see better life.
Speaking of fast charge.
I had 17% left at around 12:30pm today. Plugged it in while I went to lunch. Now at 2:50pm, just got notified that it's fully charged. Not bad at all.
Also, I had drained my battery when I received my phone.
How is that even possible!!!!!!!!!
It takes me 3.5 hours to charge it full!!!!!

I have two lines and this is my second SGSII aside to the one I already have...
I got this phone just yesterday and last night was my first full drain....today was my first full charge.
Shouldn't I go into recovery and wipe the batt stats?

I noticed today that the output from the charger for the SGS2 is 5V 1A and all other usb chargers ive gotten recently have an output thats closer to an actual usb port (4.5-5V 500mA) so that might have something to do with it.
My test pool on this hypothesis is quite small though so id be curious if anyone else can corroborate
I notice my battery charges much faster on an official samsung charger. Anything below 1V charges super slow. I want to try a rapid 2V charger but worried it may ruin my battery.. but on the other hand, AFAIK, some samsung car chargers charge @ 2v. They're called "rapid chargers" This is one of those times where you think AH any generic charger would do. I used to be in that camp. But I really found that the Samsung chargers are quickest. Also, they seem less likely to damage the micro usb port due to repeated use due to the fact that the Samsung cables tend to be thin and light weight as opposed to thick and bulky like some eBay cables. The thick and bulky ones feel like they'll give you enough leverage/weight if grabbed the wrong way and tear your micro usb port right off.
In the end, I love the Samsung chargers.

I charged it up in the external charger until it indicated full. When I installed it and booted, it said 91%. I ran it down to about 15%, then plugged the phone into the charger. Now it only goes up to 86%.
When I first swapped the battery, I held the power button for about 30 seconds then installed the battery (as recommended when flashing TX's Note port).
Is there a proper way to calibrate a new battery? Might I just have a defective one?

I recommend pulling it off the travel charger and putting it right back on. If the light changes within a minute it was full. If not... It wasn't. You can do the battery calibrate app but your phone will figure it out on its own.
My best advice is to toss your old battery and only use the 2 new matched batteries. The phone will have errors in battery percentage if it is calibrating batteries that have different discharge rates due to age/size.
In a perfect world only charge them on the travel charger
Put it back on to make sure it's 100.
Discharge to 0 or the point the phone shuts down every time as well
A few days and your phone will display correctly
THROW AWAY YOUR FAST CHARGER.
Fast charging is the fastest way to a new battery.

The new MM has the option to turn off the fast charging, can't he just turn this off instead of trashing his charger?

Yeah. I wish we all had that option. I know some you have to plug in the fast charger to access the setting to turn it off.
