This is my first post. i only just got my o2 xdaIIs last week i got two units both the same with the same issues. as i have two GG headsets one is a gg301 and the other is a gg02.
The problem i am having is on the active connections on outgoing the signal level goes from full 5 green bars to 1 red bar all the time without even touching the headset or handset. this happens even when the headsets are right next to the handset.
XDAIIs
Rom version: 1.31.00 WWE
Rom date: 12/13/04
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM: 1.31.920 WWE
Model No.PH20B
Windows Mobile 2003 second Edition version 4.21.1088(build 14132)
BT-PPC/PE version 1.0.0 build 3500
Is this normal or is it the headsets i am using becuase the www.see02.com website saying that my handset is upto date.
aparently xda 2s's are a little pants when it comes to bluetooth headsets, i know u prob have, but art thou on bt 3900?
try headsets on another device to see if they are the cause.
but i reckon u wont get it fixed til the next update rom from o2.
I have just completed the rom update and still a no go on the gg headsets range is still not better then 30cm and there is a hissing sound on the 3rd party's end. i guess the gg headsets are not Compatibile with the BA XDAIIs
its nothing to do with your bt handsfree.
its the blueangel that has a poor BT hardware/software.
it is also the gg headsets as i have tried them on a nokia phone better quaility but still very poor and some feedback static noise.

Hi,
I have managed to upgrade my Orange SPV2000 to the 1.22.00 WWE , with 1 1.06.02 Radio ROM. I still have very poor bluetooth reception on my Jabra 250 headset. If the phone is more than 1 foot away the sound is terrible.
What is the best / correct bluetooth stack? I currently have the BT-PPC version 1.0.0 build 3500
Thanks
That is the build I have.
I upgraded to the very latest on I could find 1.6.0.600 which is supposed to improve sound quality, but it didn't and it actually made connection worse. However, that could be to do with my headset.
Here are the stacks I have used. You can get then using ftp from xda-developers.com.
They are in /BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Bluetooth Upgrades
Original 1.0.0.3500 = BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3500.cab
Update for 1.0.0.3500 which is supposed to improve sound quality and add extra support for high quality audio and keyboards = BroadcomCorp_BTUpdatefor1.0.0.3500.cab
Update to 1.6.0.600 = BroadcomCorp_BT1.6.0.600.cab

You did this upgrade but your signature states 1.0.0.3500 as the BT version. Arent you having 1.6.0.0600 or something like that?
How is this stack working for you???
I tried OEM_WWE_160_600.sa.CAB earlier today, this gave me something like 1.6.0.0600, but it was a disaster. Never been as bad as after installing that one, so i went back to 1.0.0.3500
Yeah, as I said, the 1.6.0.600 made matters worse so I downgraded back to 1.0.0.3500.

Sorry about that, better go hit the pillow
any help with upgrading a bluetoth 1.0 to 1.2 or higher? i have plantronics 640 and sound quality is not very good. please advice!!!
Best advice, though not very legal, is to flash your 2003 version to wm2005. This come with a different BT stack and since then, i do not have any sound or pairing problems.
Wififofum doesn't support the new driver, but i can live with that.
could you provide me a link for this update please? there are too many info about wm2005. I have device from O2 XDA 2i.
thanks.
Hello all,
Some of these things may have been covered but for the life of me I can't find them in the forum, so if I'm barking up a tree thats already been p**sed on, I appologise.
Basically I am looking to buy either an IIs or IIi (or similar MDA III etc) but I would like know if the same sort of problems that happen on the IIs happen on the IIi also. The problems with the IIs are detailed on many a topic (such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23880&highlight=month+review) but here are the mains ones I can see.
- The keyboard is flimsy (falls out own accord etc)
- Bluetooth is unstable
- Sound cuts out on calls sometimes
- Restarts itself
- WiFi is unstable and picks up little signal
- Corrupts SD cards
- After some months the screen will 'whistle' (on some devices)
- The device does not hang up properly sometimes
- A version of WM2k5 doesn't look set to be available for this device
(Also it has older generation processor)
These problems do not seem to be experienced by all, and many seem to be fixed by a selection of ROM updates and quirky software settings. Do these same issues exist with the IIi (the keyboard one doesn't obviously)? I was going to get the IIs (the better battery life and keyboard looked useful) but the sheer quantity of problems people have put on the Blue Angel board has pushed me towards getting the Andes model. Is this a fair thought about the device or will I find just as many issues on the IIi as the IIs? I will be giving the device some fairly hefty PDA type use (Documents and Spreadsheets etc) so I would prefer to get a model that it not so buggy as the IIs appears to be. It seems it might be all software issues but could they be caused by hardware problems also?
Any thoughts on this issue would be greatfully appreciated as I don't want to make a purchase I later regret a lot.
Thanks a lot.
Tom
P.S Keep up the good work on this site - its a mine of useful information.
Without owning a IIi, I can tell you that:
- You *won't* get the keyboard problem
- AFAIK, the Bluetooth stack is the same, so any problems there are replicated over.
- The wifi signal strength stems from not having an external anntenna ala PalmOne Treos, so you'll have the same problem with the IIi.

I worried about this one for a while , but I went for the IIs as there seemed to be a lot more ROMs available to customise and sort out stupid problems like bluetooth and gprs not reconnecting. The imate 1.40 ROM for Blue Angel is really stable in my opinion and it works with the customisation CABs for o2 UK from the original extended rom. I havent soft reset my device for over a week now and everything seems to be really stable. The only possible advantage with the IIi is the camera, but reports of that say that the quality is just as crap as the IIs camera. Forget the slightly faster processor, if you really need that little bit more, just overclock a IIs, they will run at 520 MHZ very comfortably!

Thanks - This is useful stuff. The IIs might be back in the game. Will overclocking it cause the battery life shorten significantly? Also would the Bluetooth problems mean that using a portable bluetooth keyboard (such as the Stowaway one) would be impossible as it would cut out or is this just on high data transfer rates such as those needed by a headset?
Thanks again.

hi
i have both 2s and 2i...
as far as wifi goes.. the signal on 2i is way stronger than 2s
bt is 1.2 with support for listening to system sounds and MUSIC on 2i
i dont have any keyboard, sound cutting on calls etc problems you have written.. except that 2i didnt hang up properly with the old rom ..now that i upgraded to the lastest o2 rom on 2i that problem has gone.. the voice (caller and me and vice versa) is crisp adn clear on both the devices
cheers
Strange about the wifi, they must have put a boosted antenna in there, or perhaps changed the enclosure material...
Chris
Cheers for the help. I have decided to go for the IIi (well the Qtek 2020i version of it). It is cheaper than the IIs and the better Wifi signal will definitely be more useful as I will be using the device in libraries and other places where I will not be able to guarantee signal strength. It looks slightly more future proof with WM2K5 Roms looking like they will be available for it more readily. Its not that I will need the extra features of WM2K5 but it looks like I will be using the device a lot and so it will be good to get the benefits of future development. Guess i'll have to get a spare battery to compensate for it short battery life. Cheers again.

hi all,
i've upgraded to the new radio 1.14.10 for the uni & found a vast improvement in the signal & sound quality..
even my Jabra 250v has improved reception..however there is still a breakup in the conversation for the opposite person when i talk to them...
i thought that this was a network problem but the same combination of the Jabra 250 & my old O2 mini never had a problem..
what i mean to say is that with the new radio there has been a 10 fold improvement in my bluetooth conversations but there r till a few problems...
any help will be highly appreciated..
rgds,
frz
your not alone
i also have an jabra 250v
and if i turn my head i lose signal .
when i use the jabra on my c500 i can walk to the neightbours and still have 100% clear sound and voice.
anybody???

Plantronics Voyager 510SL. No problems. Everything 100% working good.
Motorolla HS585 I think ... barely use it.. too bulky/heavy on the ear. Works 100% good.
Hi, i would like to change my wizard.
I found that the processor (ti omap 850 200mhz) lacks speed, and the 400mhz seems good.
Can someone tell me if the difference is important?
i also have a problem with the wizard that im not sure if the hermes solve it. I have a Bluetooth GPS and a Motorola a2dp headset.
When i use both at the same time, the headset stops working, and starts skipping audio. I guess this is because the wizard has Bluetooth 1.2. But Hermes has 2.0, so with bigger bandwidth, i guess this might work.
This working is top priority in my case.
Please excuse my english, im spanish.
Pd: im seeing that there are several versions of hermes, one with a secondary VGA camera, and the other without it. Is that the only difference?
Pd2: on wizard there are G3/G4 models. I have a G4, so flashing is complicated. Something similar happends on Hermes?.
Ok, yes the proccessor is MUCH faster on the hermes (i switched from a wizard to a hermes and it is noticeable).
Can't tell you much about the bluetooth problems your having other than there are tweaks around to improbe a2dp but i don't know about both at the same time. I don't have a bluetooth headset but i do use my bluetooth gps reciever a lot and never ran into trouble.
The different versions of the hermes are the HERM100/200/300. The one without the front facing vga camera is the one sold under cingular/att in the US because video calling is not supported by their network (not yet atleast). So the only differences in the models are the looks, the processor and everything else is the same.
As for flashing, i think only the softbank models had issues with flashing earlier on but i think those are all cleared out. So no need to worry about G3/G4 models as u did with the wizard.
Hope that answers your questions, but one more thing to say; If your willing to hold off for a month and a bit until you get a new device i suggest waiting for the HTC Kaiser which is rumored to be released in September.

Thank you, that pretty much gives me an idea about hermes.
The thing is that i live in argentina, and i have a change to bring a hermes (bought on eBay) in the next couple of weeks.
Which will be the advantages of Kaiser comparing it to Hermes?
i've notice that some HTC phones are coming without the 850 gsm band, which is used in here.
i still hope someone reads this and confirms about the GPS + headset functionality.
I have noticed on a few threads where people state that the bluetooth radio is 3.0
whereas mine is 4.0. Is this just a typo on their behalf or are there some variants of the One x that has the lower revision of Bluetooth ?
As far as i know every international HTC one x is bluetooth 4.0...must be a typo you saw somewhere!
Thanks for reply. I thought so. I got my bluetooth connected up to my laptop and playing my music through it. I recently got a call through it and didnt know what to to do at that instance lol I did eventually figure what to do. I am totally in awe with my new toy :-:
it's 4.0.. but the receiver should be 4.0 also, to get the full speed
