How to remove all the GPRS setting in Wireless Mgr? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi, I have a problem with my connection mgr icon on my top bar. because i dont use GPRS and only use WiFi so the connection mgr icon always appeared a "x" connection on top. I think must be the auto config GPRS setting...Is it possible for me to delete all the GPRS setting in Wireless Mgr? or any way to remove the connection mgr icon?
Hope anyone can enlighten me..
Thank you

Ummm...I don't understand the problem. When the phone has no way to connect to the internet (no GPRS, wifi off, not synced) it displays an "x" connection logo, meaning that there is no way it can connect. This is perfectly normal in the 1.40 roms.

Alright..
Thanks, because I used to my previous model Blue Angel, with didnt show the Icon on the top bar... that's why I tot it was faulty or someting wrong with it..
Thank you again for your help.

Few questions

Can I turn off the automatic wifi to Gprs when there is no wifi? or is there a manual switch. I seem to find I loose my wifi connection and then it jumps to gprs, where I dont want to do that.
Also is there any way of knowing how much I have downloaded or uploaded? or any good tools that you know will help me with this?
and....
If I want to listen to MP3 music while its in my pocket, how do I lock the buttons and screen while listening to music?
many thanks
Hi zakeen.
I had the same problem - I wanted to manually turn on the gprs.
I posted this on the Networking Thread recently:......
------------------
I have found where I can stop it from connecting the GPRS if it cant get a wi-fi conncetion. Connections icon on the connections tab (under settings), then the advanced tab, then the select networks button - "programs that automaticall connect to the internet..........". I have changed this from gprs to my isp.
------------------
I use this for the GPRS download tracking.

And you can lock the buttons by going into the settings menu and selecting system tab, then the button lock icon.
Hope this helps

Thanks I will have to try this GPRS pro, sounds good looking at it.

WIFI and GPRS - QTEK 9090

Hello
When I'm using Wifi, on the top of the screen there is an icone with a "W" saying that if I loose the Wifi signal, it will connect via GPRS.
But, I want to control my GPRS connection and consequently control the way that this option is configured in my Qtek: so it will not connect via GPRS if I loose Wifi signal.
Do you know how to proceed?
Thanks.
Same question!
I just add myself to this, with the same question.

Same here
Somehow my SIM card was associated with an old GPRS plan from several years ago.... at 25€ per MB!!! How do I turn this off before it costs me another 100 €?

To the person with the SIM Card issue and the high GRPS Charges:
Shouldnt you be contacting your Service Provider and asking them to take you off this plan?
This won't be anything you can do with the hardware.
Maybe an acceptable workaround :
I configured the connection settings
start->settings->connections -> advanced
select networks : both drop-down boxes are set to
"my work network"
This prevents the automatic gprs connections.
If you want gprs you can use the wireless manager
(start->programs->wireless manager)
and there tap the red gprs icon
configuring Wifi as the default Internet connection
Dear Paranoid
Thanks -- your tip did the trick. I was frustrated looking for a solution,
received endless (and usekess) advice such as" turn on the flight mode" or even worse "you should remove the SIM"
Once again Thank You!

Disabling GPRS

Hi Everyone,
How do I disable gprs on my phone ? it keeps randomly connecting too it and I dont want to use gprs just the wireless side. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
GB Soft tweak will do the trick - it puts a disconnect button in the task bar when GPRS is connected and allows a bit of configuration. Can't remember where it came from (free !!) but do a search and you'll find it.
To disable GPRS select - start, settings, connections tab, then click on connections icon, and then onto the advanced tab. Press Select Networks button and then change the top drop down menu to "My Work Network" and voila, GPRS always disconnected.
Thank you very much for your help guys. Ill just have to see if it works now.

Wifi on/off shortcut

At one point, I used to be able to tap the connection icon at the top bar (the one where it shows activesync, GPRS or Wifi) and in the bubble that it brings up, I got an option of "Turn Wireless On" (or Off).
I no longer get this option ever since a random hard reset I had one day.
I cant figure out how to get it back. I know if I set a GPRS connection as one of the default connections it adds "Connect GPRS" to that bubble, but I dont seem to have a way to add a wireless connection.
Can anyone tell me how to make it show that again?
:x I have got the same problem as well. who can answer?

How do I force ie to use wifi

Ok, after a lot of had work I now appear to have access to one of my routers (Netgear WNR834B)...
But I can't get Internet explorer to access the internet via the wifi connection... My XDA keeps trying to access the GPRS connection.
I've ready several other threads but nothing seems to fit my problem. Any ideas? From what I can read I have to set up a connection to the wifi but I can't find wifi listed in the connections window...
Can someone give me a few pointers...
Thanks in advance
Well i had the same problem with my settings....
When i have configured my mms settings mannually... the IE wants to connect to gprs always but
I go to settings... conection advanced tab and change the firs to my worknetwork cause says thta all the pribate programs wants to conect with my GPRS settings... just let it no choose to take mms settings... it seems to be the answer to me and everything works again for me... oups i miss something you need to use once your gprs then make this change please.
Hmmm
I think I see where your going... but I can't see how this would help... But I'll try hand on...
No that didn't work for me... I tried to change the connection to use the MMS but all it tries to do is use the GPRS again. I can't seem to change it even after it connects via MMS.
Found out another bit of the puzzle tonight. I have to set an IP inside the BA or else I get no conections to the internet via the active sync cradle. (set to 192.168.1.22 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1)
But even thought the wireless LAN manager says I'm connected (and I get the correct MAC address for the router) if unplug the BA from the cradle the router reports I'm not connected... Its almost as thought theres a stealth firewall running on the PDA...
Any idea?
Mmm lets work on it...
i will upload a video of this issue to show you how it works... i dont have any idea of make it works by entering a diferent ip.
