If I use Sprite Backup (have not purchased yet) and backup my O2 XDA IIs, change the radio version (having issues with 1.12 want to rollback to 1.10 can I restore my backup or will it not let me such as Activesynch backup?
Thank you
The answer is NO. I have tried to do that already. I got a registry error when I tried to restore after a radio ROM upgrade. So I went ahead and upgraded everything I could and reinstalled from scratch. I just hope I don't have to do any ROM upgrades in the next 6 months. Additionally, when the expiration date is expired, you can only backup but you can not restore.

Hi,
Newbie here and I realize that this might have been discussed before somewhere but I hope that some of you experience users will be kind enough to guide me anyway.
OK, I've done quite some reading here and recently decided to go ahead and root my ME525 [came stock with Chinese Froyo firmware build: JDGC_1.11.0 Kernel: 2.6.32.9] and that went well. I also installed Titanium backup (TB) and did full and user app only backups. Yesterday, I installed ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery and I did a full backup (without factory reset).
So, before I factory reset and do another recovery backup [and then try other ROMs] , I would like to know these one or two things:
- Whenever I will need to restore my stuff, is it preferable to recover to a bare backup (i.e.: the backup I will do after factory reset)? or is it jus fine to recover my backup including my apps/settings?
- If the second option of the first question is fine, then what is (or is there) any point of also restoring a full Titanium backup (or user files only - please specify) since everything should have been restored from CWM right?
- What is the deal with with having to flash a "boot_only.sbf" after a change of ROM? Is this (always?) needed after (RSD) flashing a stock sbf file? and would this be needed after just doing a CWM recovery?
I'm asking all this because I don't know where to find the exact sbf files for my Chinese phone...the Chinese Froyo 'stock' file I found had CPU set at 1GHz and that is clearly a sign that this is not 'stock' since mine came in at 800MHz... Others, have already altered the sbf to match US carriers or what not..
So last question: if things go wrong, can I flash that slightly different 'stock' [droid2.2.zip] sbf file anyway, flash the boot_only (needed?) and then just use clockworkmod (and/or TB??) to get back to my stock state or current state?
I know, this is basic stuff and had been covered many times. But not having an official (and exactly same) stock sbf file worries me a little... I don't want to lose my wifi, camera flash or who knows what... and there are all those issues with firmwares incompatibilities or undowngradability...
I just want to cover my butt in case I have to get Motorola service one day (warranty repair...) since I beleive that unroot is (a bit complicated) but possible...
Anyway, sorry for long post and thanks in advance for your help on all this.

Hey,
I have the official Mango update and SPL-4.5.2250.0 (129185) MNG
I want to revert to NoDo so I can install a custom ROM, how can I downgrade without having a restore in Zune (the restore is damaged).
I got an error 'The Storage Card Is Damaged' and it hard reset itself, so now Zune sees it as a new phone, rendering my backup useless.
Sorry.. Im answering in the wrong forum (have to get used to xda app :[ )
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App

As far as I know, the only way back to NoDo, if you do not have a working backup is to flash a OEM rom.
With out knowing your carrier or phone model, there is not much anyone can do to help. I suggest that you look up the threads to your model phone and check the upgrade thread.
You might find a rom but, to roll back and keep your data, that's a different story.
The backup is not useless just because the phone got hard-reset. People restore backups after hard-reset all the time.
However, you can't restore a backup if the storage of the phone has changed. That means adding, removing, or replacing a microSD card since the backup was made. To restore that backup, put the phone back in its old state (storage-wise), then hard reset it (to initialize the card), then connect to Zune and try to restore.
Hey guys, I recently flashed CM 10.1 without backuping up anything, so I lost my IMEI/EFS, so basicaly I wasn't able to connect to my carrier. I did everything to get my phone back to normal but nothing worked so I had to give me phone to repair (This was the second time). But today I got it back and I want my phone to be free and I want to put CM 10.1 on my device again, but before I do anything I want to backup my device so I wouldn't have to wait 1 month for my phone to get repaired.
I searched the XDA-Dev website for backing up the EFS folder couldn't find any post on the topic. I just did a backup using this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997).
What are the things I can do (I will do a nandroid backup after I root and install CWM).
And would I be able to backup using this guide from the video? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDBQIoyQtEg)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-1747M (BELL)

A nandroid backup is always a good idea. Also in the stickied threads: [FIX/TOOL] Backup/Restore/Fix IMEI & Data Restore Tool v3.0 - Updated 11/01/2012!!!
That's pretty much all you need. Just be careful with what you flash and make sure to follow full OP instructions.

There is a misconception out there that NANDROID will backup you IMEI... it won't... best to back it up with tools that BWolf talked about...
If you don't back it up don't panic... your IMEI is written below battery...
Also what bailed me out twice so far was "factory reset" from TWRP. This forces google "welcome wizzard"... got my IMEI back twice using this method...
Once IMEI is back just restore your stuff either via Ti Backup or you can do most recent nandroid DATA ONLY restore and you're good to go...
Hope this helps
Howdy, I have a TMobile HTC M8 One currently running stock kit kat with TWRP, Root, and S-Off. I have seen quite a few 5.0 posts regarding upgrading, but they all seemed slightly different (S-On, wipe, etc).
I am trying to upgrade my phone to 5.0 without doing a wipe. I have a lot of important data on my phone (and I have a nandroid backup), but I would like to avoid the "reinstall everything for days" cycle following an update. Also, I'm not much of an expert on doing this stuff. I generally become a temporary expert every 6 months or so when I need to do something important, and then I immediately forget everything.
So, what is the easiest way for a noob (with root, TWRP, and S-OFF) to upgrade to 5.0 without needing a wipe?
Thanks in advance!
Titanium backup
Wipe and install new ROM
Restore apps
Google will restore your settings
Manually set any you miss
If you just update from 4.4.4 to 5.0 without a wipe, you will almost certainly have issues.
I did that last time I worked on my phone. When I reinstalled titanium backup, it magically didn't actually have any of my data and I was sunk. Also, I don't sync my settings (or any data that I can control) with Google. Hence my apprehension at doing it again.
Thanks for the response, but I would like to avoid a wipe. If it causes issues afterwards, then so be it and I will deal with it then. for now though, I would like to at least try.
There seems to be a problem with restoring backups since the end of December.
This weekend, I backuped my girlfriends phone, also WhatsApp to onedrive and tried to do a restore. No luck. at 21 % it stucks. telling me to check the connectivity. By restoring my backup to the same phone in the same house and ISP I proved that this was not the case.
I did a factory reset from the phone to get the above done, so no version conflicts or whatsoever.
I also used the WDRT to reset it to 8.1 ( its a lumia 830) update it to 10, and in between let all the apps install and updates install. but no Luck.
I talked to MS, but they give no direct support on Windowsmobile all B2X !!! what the peeeeep.
I think it's a onedrive/account thing, and nothing what I can discuss with B2X, where they probably tell me that the 830 is out of warrenty?
Also the restore of WhatsApp fails, it's in a loop, do you want to check for backups to restore, yes, do you want to check for backups to restore etc.
Anyone having this issues, or able to replicate and maybe someone has a solution?
BTW al lot of people have this issue since end December.
