can this also be use in xda2? so that xda2 can play amr as ringtone? tnx

sure you can
i-mate = xda2
And I think it's work on all wm2003 PE ( Phone Edition )

Doesn't seem to be working....
Hi,
I copied everything over and entered all the into into the registry. Yet it doesn't seem to be working on the Blue Angel. The SoundPlay.exe works fine, so I'm guessing the problem lies in amrring.dll......Anybody have any idea what it is?

There is a missing reg key !!
Try to register amrring.dll with regsvr tool.
follow this link :
http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/regsvr.html

Hey....I tried that. Still doesn't work.

same here i tried it on my imate jam and didn't work

maybe you store those out of windows Dir !!
I forget to tell you About that :---)

I've got Magican (qtek s100) - WM2003SE...
When i'm trying to add reg file i have message "Unknow error importing Registry script file". Please help.

OK, but it doesn't solve problem with AMR ringtones.

No it does not solve the AMR ringing tone.
But why you wanna use AMR as ringing tones?
AMR has a bad quality compared to MP3 & WMA..
I suggest to convert your AMR ringing tones to WMA

I want to use them because it's much easier to set recieved by 4 ex. bluetooth amr file as ringtone then copy it to pc, convert and copy to pocket.
There are no many mobile phones which can understand wav format - amr is much more popular (+using in mms).
It's always better to CAN do something then CANNOT.

There is no need to buy this program just put any MP3 files in your "rings" folder in the windows folder on your PPC Phone and then they will come up in the ring tone list when you pick ringtones. It's then free. We all love FREE.

in case you dont know, MP3 format cannot be supported as incoming ringtones for the XDA II, XDA IIs
I have an XDAII and was able to use MP3 as ring tones without any issues, either with 1.72 or 2.20 ROM.
no, the IIs does NOT support MP3 in the phone ringer app. The device can play MP3s via media player etc, but they are not supported as ring tones.
WMA is supported as ring tones.
No major biggie for me as I don't wanna use the full bitrate MP3 as a ring anyway - just conver to a Mono 22Khz 48bps WMA instead and only convert the 30 secs - 1 min that the phone would actually ring for.

guys... just use a free prog (I use audacity) to convert to wma.
You generally don't want all of a stereo mp3 as a ring anyway.
I just take the bit of the mp3 I want as a clip in audacity, and convert it to mono mp3 with a low bitrate. I generally turn the db up as high as it will go (without clipping) as well as you want a ring loud. Audacity will also loop a clip and let you trim it to get it to loop just right.
Then just pop the wma in the rings folder and viola !

How do you get Audacity to convert to .wma??? it only does .wav, .ogg, and .mp3 - as far as I can see..... :?
Mamaich's new WMP10 rom (found in the Blue Angel upgrading forum) gives the XDAIII mp3 ringtone support.
On MS website (Windows Media downloads section) there is a free down load that will convert MP3 to WMA, will even do Bulk folders if you want

mp3 ringtones
copy your mp3 ringtones to directory windows/rings in your device.
and setting your notification phone call with them.
or you can install patch englishmp3ringtone.cab (find this file in ftp xda developer)
HKCR\wavefile\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\
copy the key "{E88B4A18-6F77-Abb6-8E0D-DCD4B1F8F1DA}"

Hi, I'm from Malaysia. I've already upgraded my XDA IIs rom to version 1.33.51 also. But my device also cooked with IA Caller ID version 1.20.
I can assign any ringtone to any contact including mp3 format using the program (Caller ID 1.20). Try it. Thanks.

David,
Use PHM registory or Resco registry for accessing the registry on your device.
HKCR\wavefile\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ (Where HKCR is the HK Current User)
copy the key "{E88B4A18-6F77-Abb6-8E0D-DCD4B1F8F1DA}"
Then go to HKCR\mp3file\Shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\
and create a key by pasting the above.
Voila there is your mp3 ringtone. Check and let us knowl.
Hemant.
Then go to this folder

Importing Ringtones

Can someone tell me if it possible to import mp3 ringtones?
Or is it just wav files that it plays? If so what is the maximum quality it can handle?
Cheers!
Unfortunately no Mp3's - but convert your mp3's to wma format & copy the file to \windows\rings.
keep in mind that wma support is enabled on the 1.40 rom...it wasn't supported on the older ones...at least not the one that came on the SX66...cheers...
Thanks for your help! I worked it out in the end. I converted the MP3 into a WAV file and just dumped it in my documents - click and select use as ringtone - JOB DONE!
Cheers Guys
WAV ringtones
Hi,
I just bought the Orange SPV m2000 and i am having problems playing WAV files as ringtones. I imported a WAV file into \windows directory of the phone and then when i come to select it as a ringtone all i hear is ding-dong-ding-dong which shows something is clearly wrong. can anyone assist?
Thanks

mp3 file as ringtone

I have tried this several times, even contacted orange, but am now getting conflicting information
The manual says mp3 files can be used as a ringtone
orange then advised me to move the files into the /rings folder
However, the device cannot recognise them
I've now been told by orange the device does not support mp3 files at all!
I then told them that I can play them in Windows Media Player and was told the device shouldn't be able...
Any ideas?
Try the attached file; works for me on my SX66.
How is this installed, and into which folder(s) on the Pocket PC?
just move into any folder...and...tap on it.. it'll automatically install...
just as simple as 1-2-3...
Tried that, no change...
I have a file called bigbrother.mp3 in windows/rings folder, but this is not being recognised
If I move any other type of file (.mid .wav) into this folder, then I can set those as ringtone
I can also setup any other ringtones from the start/settings/system/add ring tones
What next?
WAV ringtones...
Hi! I also had issues getting an MP3 to play as a ringtone... Not sure if it was due to the file size or the file type.
My work around was to use a tool to slice and dice the file to
1. Make the ringtone duration 20 seconds
2. Convert the file to WAV
3. Increase the gain so the ringtone is louder than original
There are tons of free applications to do this... I usually download todays' most popular from http://www.download.com ...
Enjoy!
Hi There,
Try renaming bigbrother.mp3 to a smaller name i.e big.mp3
I had an MP3 that wouldn't display in the list until I renamed it to a smaller name, then it became available and worked succintly.
let us know how you get on
Terry
No, no change
I was wondering of the file is too large, so uploaded a smaller one at 0.9MB, but this too was not recognised
The only conclusion I can come to is the orange SPV M2000 (QTEK 9090) does not support mp3 files as ring tones, only mid and wav
That still doesn't match the manual though (clearly states "use mp3 files as ring tones")
Update to latest rom (1.40.00 ?) That should fix it - I had the same problem - updated rom & voila
I've tried the latest orange ROM 1.40 and as really unstable and went back to ROM 1.31
I'll try again and see if there is any change
If you convert a MP3 file to Wav or WMA, then you would be able to set it as a ringtone (by right clicking it in your phone).
WMA is comparitively smaller than WAV, so I personally recommend WMA. I am converting files from ""Microsoft Digital Media Edition""Audio Converter" http://www.microsoft.com/windows/plus/dme/Music.asp#audio.
Cheers
Sidd
Just upgrade. This is an issue solved long ago. Newer ROMs are more stable, just get used to them
after you have your file in the phone, make sure you put it in mydocuments/my music folder on MAIN MEMORY, then go to file explorer and find it, hold down the stylus on the song mp3,wma,midi you want and there will be an option to set it as ringtone.
easiest way to do it..
anyway now that this has been answered, i keep a 2gb minisd card full of mp3s on my phone and i need an app that will let me cut a small (30 - 60 sec) clip .mp3 and be able to send it via bluetooth, it doesnt have the option to beam built-in but it would be easier. does anyone know of such a program? (for the phone not for a PC)
again sorry for the thread hijack, theres just no need to create a new one.
I've updated the ROM to the latest version from orange
The ringtones are still in the correct folder
Also tried right click and set to ringtone
Still no change, none of the mp3 files are recognised
It does look as if it is a misprint then in the orange handbook
Note this is an orange SPV M2000
Found out why I had previously downgraded to an old orange ROM
The one (currently) on the orange website is faulty when used with the camera... and causes an internal error
Works perfectly on my i-mate jam
Ya, it not work on M2000/O2.
I think ,this causes the system do no identify MP3 type(you can see the
files property).
Please change .mp3 type to WMa or WAV, then you can enjoy.
doesntwork on my xda 2... i got set it as a ring tone, click it , then nothing else happens :O/
This can be caused if a third party app takes control of the .mp3 extension. I installed a media player and it took .mp3 control away from WMP10. in order for your phone to use mp3 as ringtone it has to be associated with WMP. I had to use pocket tweak to re-associate mp3 to WMP. and this cleared my issue.
ooh, i think i have pocket tweak somewhere, makes me so irrate when other phones less complex can use mp3 ringtones with no fuss and bother. infact this phones annoying ime more and more , its so faddy!

Multi Media Codecs for P3300

Hi guys, one week ago i bought the phone and changed my phone from N73 to P3300.But i didn't know Windows Mobile doesn't support alot of Multi MEdia extensions like AVI,MP4 etc so i need you help...
I need a codec named AVC as known as H.264 for my mobile but i couldn't find it anywhere!
Please give me a link which make me able to download this codec or download a Multi Media player for opening this extension.
Thanks
Try the TCMP....
Here ist the Link to its wiki Page:

Here is another Link to an "unofficial Version" which includes all codecs supported by TCMP.
http://rapidshare.com/files/66103646/TCPMP_0.81RC.rar.html
(its Freeware)
Just Copy the Folder to your PPC (SD Card or Device) and Run the TCMP.exe
Hope this works for you...

Just thought i'd respond to this because I have the 02 xda orbit and the options for recording video are mpeg4, h.263 and motion jpeg.
So surely if it can record in mpeg4 it can also play mpeg4 ?
Or am I wrong ?
Mpeg4 and MP4 are different...

[HACK]Use each music and each audio format with each size as Ringtone , Alert , Alarm

Hey guys
I finally found : Use .m4a , .wma , .wav and .mp3 formats as Alarm, Alert, Ringtone ((without size and length limitations))
without changing the audio name for example: Alert-01.wma or .....
first copy/paste your favorite(s) music(s) to \windows folder.
ok go [HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/
OEMNotifications <------------<< for Alerts
OEMAlarms <------------------<< for Alarms
OEMRingtones] <--------------<< for ringtones and Alarms
in these 3 folders add "new value" and then :
Value Name: name.mp3 or name.wav or name.wma << name=name of your audio file that pasted in WINDOWS folder.
Value Data: enter a name for your audio that you want be shown.
Value Type: String
then click "ok" to set it and go to Setting>ringtones+sounds and see
I tested with .aac , .amr , .m4a , .ac3 , .aiff , .flac , .mka , .mp2 and .ogg formats but just .m4a worked as SMS Alert.
I try it to add a small .mp4 video as ringtone but did not work.
I think if we can add more formats for Ringtones Category it will be possible to have video as ringtone.
IMPORTANT: If you use a long music as sms alert you would not be able to stop playing it, so you must shutdown your phone.
do not forget THANKS
Great!
A big-big thank you for this!
I don't know how did you find this out, but this is great!
I always had to rewrite the notification sounds in the registry after changing the ringtone, they somehow it got resetted to none after, but now this problem is gone.
I can change notification sounds and ringtones like it was factory implanted.
Thank a lot!
cheers and Happy New Year to you!
PS.: If you could find the reg key to stop converting down the resolution of pictures attached to an e-mail, you'll be a HERO.
wait, FLAC?
Obviously, the phone can't magically transcode every format. The advantage of this approach (over the official way to install ringtones) is that you can use any format that the phone supports, instead of just a subset of them.
So no, you probably can't use FLAC. I honestly don't know why you'd want to, given the speaker quality of the phone, but you can use any file that the phone could play through its media player, for example (includes AAC/M4A, for example, which I don't think is normally allowed for ringtones).

FLAC
Free Lossless Audio Codec. The highest quality in music/sound.
I think using mp3 as a ringtone is more than enough.
Hey guys
Thanks.
I'm not expert. I just tried all formats to see is it possible or not to complete my theory.
I have an audio converter and I tried this method for all formats that was known as audio ,but with these 4 formats and even with the most popular format .mp3 we got it.
It was one of main favorites that all of us needed and now it is possible.
I am so happy.
I wish everyone enjoy.

Hi
You can copy and paste your audio files using Windows Phone Device Manager or File Explorer installed on your device.
For these actions your device must be full unlocked.
Important and Useful
Hi
l deleted this post because it was a stupid mistake.
I want say excuse me for this mistake.
All audio files must be in windows folder.
Sorry and sorry and sorry.

Hi
If you want add SMS Alerts to your device easily and without replacing them to WINDOWS folder :
Just sync them via zune as ringtone then go:
[HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/CustomRingtones]
they must be there. ( I suggest you for simplify your action and name your Alerts to: sms1, sms2,....)
In the path you must see your audio files with their name. OK
now remember their VALUE NAME (example : 8d.mp3) and go to
[HKCU/ControlPanel/Sounds/OEMNotifications]
In the new value you want to add, in VALUE NAME type exact value name shown in CustomRingtones and press ok. done
Note: every audio files that sync as RINGTONE via Zune are not required to move to Windows folder.

Works with Alarm ?? .. or i must copy my mp3 file in Windows folder if i want change my alarm ?
Hi
Yes it works but you know well that when you want to add audio files as ringtone via zune it must be smaller than 1MB.
Therefore if you want to use a fav music az alarm you can sync it as music and move it to Windows folder by FileExplorer.
If somebody could change the Zune limitations for ringtones via registry on PC all of our problem would be solved.
