hi i have an xda original broken but the lcd screen works fine and an xda 2s with a broken screen i was going to fix it with htc but the price is quiet steep 120 pounds, i can fix the phone myself if i can get a screen but ofcourse i would loose my warrenty
so my question is would the xda original screen work in an xda 2s? are they the same? is their a way to change the screens without voiding the warrent (except htc)
any response will be appreciated
thanks
AC
as far as i know, as soon as u open the device the warrenty as void. they can tell as the screws will loose the paint as soon as u touch them with a screwdriver.
The xda screen is different hardware.
hi, i was wondering is the xda2 screen exactly the same as the xda2s screen, can i replace the xda2 screen with a broken xda2s screen.
thanks

I have dropped my Wildfire on the floor and after i picked it up i had a spot on the screen(you can see it in the pics attached).I want to order the parts necesary from ebay because i saw they have good prices.
Please help me because i need to know..what part do i have to change to get that spot away from the screen?(the digitizer, the display?)
Thanks!
PS: the touchsreen works perfectly
really no one knows?
asking again..please help
I had exactly the same problem. That mark you see on the screen is due to dead pixels. I dropped mine too and I had a spot just like yours. Here is how I solved the problem.
1. Go to ebay and buy an LCD screen for wildfire. I got mine for less than $50. You just need the LCD not the touchscreen digitizer. I think you can get it cheaper.
2 Replace the LCD. I could not find a dissassembly guide for wildfire, but you can follow the Desire guide. They are pretty much the same. I am talking about the steps. Obviously, they different phones.
Since your touchscreen works, it is easier to replace the LCD.
Now my wildfire works fine with a working LCD.
Good luck

If the touchscreen is working without any problems then it is just the LCD Screen you need, It is a separate part from the touchscreen.
Where i used to work, the sales team used to rip people off by telling them that the touchscreen and LCD screen came together, but most of the time they don't and can be fitted separately, sometimes however they are together and need to be bought together. I have been inside one of my own wildfires to fit a new touchscreen it didn't go very well but it works......... minus the LED lights and i can tell you the LCD screen can be purchased and fitted separately.
Dude of course it is up to you wheyher you wait or not,
But i am telling you, i had the exactly same issue... My phone fell to the floor and i had the spot on the pictures you posted. It is because of the dead/stuck pixels on your lcd. My touchscreen worked fine too. Just replace the lcd and you are in bussiness.
And I agree with the poster above.

dead pixels arent good but what about my dead "lines" ? it looks like the HTC is censuring everything i want to read
Hey, xda dev members.
As this is my first post,I've gotta say I used the "search" function here on forum.
I just didn't find what I actually needed.
The thing is : I got my dad's HTC Desire which had been dropped on the ground.
The screen is cracked but the Digitizer looks undamaged imo.
It turns on,I can hear the startup sound, buttons light up etc.
How do I check if other parts are working properly?
I don't really trust repair shops/HTC service is too pricy and I could replace the screen/digitizer by myself with no problem.
Thank you in advance.
P.S. I can post pics if needed.
seems a bit strange that the screen is cracked but the digitizer isn't damaged, can you feel the crack with your nail?
I changed a digitizer not so long ago, it wasn't so difficult.
http://tjworld.net/blog/htc-desire-tear-down
I don't know how much a new screen will cost though.
Yeah,I'm disassembling it at the moment.
I just hate getting cheated/ripped by mobile repair centres,so I'd rather do what I can by myself.
It's strange.. Are you sure that the digitizer is not cracked?
Here in Czech Rep. the LCD for the Desire/NexusOne costs something about $70 (1300Kč)..

Here it's approx. 30 $ for digitizer and $50 for the screen.
I guess I'll order both just in case.
The thing is I don't know how to check if everything else is ok.
It was kicked hard but there's sound, button highlight, vibration etc. when I turn it on.
Anyone got idea?
I had the same problem... I crashed really hardly my phone. The digitizer and the LCD were totally broken, but everything worked (sounds, vibration, buttons etc.). So I think that your phone should work normally (besides the screen and maybe the digitizer)... my oppinion

Whoa.I'd completely disassembled it and the digitizer looks undamaged.
I haven't got any idea how it's possible since the screen is cracked all over...
[Edit] Any idea how to tell whether it's AMOLED or LCD?
I can't turn it on,so I can't use the methods involving a turned on phone.
Maybe some serial number methods or something?

Just distinguished SLCD from AMOLED by serial numbers.
60H00287 - Samsung AMOLED LCD
60H00443 -Super Sony LCD
Mine was the Samsung.
Ordering a new one, thanks for helping me out.
Can be locked.
For how much?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Unfortunately,it's AMOLED,so it costs ~60$(190 PLN).
Sorry for doubleposting but I'm not sure if editing a post will bring the topic up.
I found out that the digitizer connector is probably broken. (pic included)
Any idea if I can get it fixed anywhere?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
hi,
does anyone know if all the digitizers would fit any model???
i have the s-lcd one
Hey Fellow HTC Desire Lovers!
I have a question. Can you replace the top PCB (I think its called) the top one that has the Headphone jack and camera attached to it.
Is it a case of simply getting a replacement part from another phone and swapping the NAND flash? (I think its called the NAND flash module, Its the little square thing next to the camera)
What happened was
My HTC desire had a fist fight with the wall! it left a dent on my wall as well as on the desire!
The odd thing it Smashed the the AMOLED screen and the Housing bad! It caused the camera to be ripped from the PCB circuit board as well as the headphone jack. It is still attached but neither work. I have repaired the screen and replaced the housing (however still need the middle housing as it is still bent)
The phone works fine! Besides the camera and headphone jack and earpiece! What a beast!
Thank you for your help!
Sorry I think its called the Flex cable
Please help if anyone knows if its possible to simply swap it?
Thank you
I don't see why you couldn't swap it, as long as its the same component from another amoled handset.
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
wow thats great news! So it has to be a AMOLED handset to be able to work? I thought the SLCD and amoled only differed in their screens and possibly connections to the main board at the bottom?
Also when searching ebay i found flex boards that are for Nexus one. will they be ok to use? having a look at them they look exactly the same as the desire one. I cant post a link right now but will do when I can
Thank you
I'm not sure if it's totally necessary for it to be from another amoled handset, but that's how I'd do it, just as a precaution. Not sure about the nexus component.

I purchased a new one from ebay came today swapped it working fine although camera not in properly its missing the shield so its just stuck in there without the top metal to hold it in but no big deal.
For everyone that repaired their phones be careful with the digitizer strip that connects to the screen it's just held on with tape. sometimes it comes loose mine did and the phone bootlooped. I just stuck it on more firmly and its fixed using it now
Thanks ffor your help man!
And your right I don't think it matters if you have amoled or LCD . I just got a generic part for £25

Unfortunately my beloved's screen sustained a sever damage
I would like to try and fix it by myself and need to know what do I have to replace
The device works fine
Screen glass is splintered but responds to touch quiet alright
A small yellow spot In the center
Does the yellow spot mean that the board under the glass is damaged as well ... or I can save it by replacing glass only ?
At eBay I find two options
Full LCD Display + Touch Screen Digitizer Assembly - 80 $
New Touch Screen Digitizer Glass Assembly - 30 $
Do you Know whether the parts over at Ebay are quality ... or should I not mess with it and pay full price by sending my beloved to a HTC lab ?
Grieving badly :crying: and waiting for some help
It doesn't seem to be possible to separate the glass from the LCD, without damaging LCD. No idea whether the screens you're looking at on eBay are the same as original or just compatible.
The only thing I can offer is that I replaced my screen on the desire HD and for the time effort and quality I wish I'd sent it off
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
Don't mess with it, my experience was with my hd2 and it was a nightmare and would of been cheaper letting htc do it, also I have read horror stories about cheap screens being sold for the one x

OK guys
I think I'll leave it for HTC even though the price will probably be a killer
Thanx
Thankfully i dropped my nexus7 with a poetic case that i got in the mail yesterday. The tablet screen looks ok (no cracks). the back of devise has a crack near the power button about the length of the camera cut out. there is also a slight crack near the camera about half the length of the camera cut out.
the devise will turn on, but all i can see is a "lit" blank screen. I can't see anything else. It just displays white light. can this be fixed and if so how?
Your backlight works still, but your LCD has either come loose internally, or you have broken it so that it will not display a screen :\

so if i were to repair it i would need to only buy a LCD screen? how to check if the LCD is loose internally? can you provide screen shots and or a vid of someone pointing out the location. LCD can become broken even with no cracks to the screen
tyvm
If you need screens, you may not want to attempt the fix. Its not terribly difficult, but you should have a general knowledge of hardware repair and electricity. Ifixit has a teardown
