I have looked round the forum, and on the wiki section, and all over the ftp, but i am still unsure how to backup the ExtRom so that I have the ms_.nbf file.
Can some one point me in the right direction for this? The Idea is that i will then use er2003edit to modify the image and flash it back.
Thank you

Hello,
How can I get the rom image so I can change the Autorun.exe to run my config file?
Thanks
Scaseman
You can open your extended rom with total commander, your extrom is only hided. You can copy your cabs renaming it with default_ prefix like default_xxx.cab.
Whit total comander to find your extrom you have only to write extended_rom in the command line.
Thanks, I read here http://pocketpcdubai.infopop.cc/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/582600994/m/7891086801 that the autorun.exe wouldn't load the config file that i create but the guys on xda-developers had a rom image to take it from.
If I take a backup, would I just delete all the files before copying over all the newly modified files?
I just wanna be careful rather than breaking my new k-jam
Cheers

I have a Cab file to change the hardware keyboad in the registry [HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/Qwerty].
Ok, I have unlocket the Extended ROM (with the ExtROM_Utility.exe) and copy this Cab file, that I have, in the Extended-ROM.
Only one problem I have now, if I copy the Cab file into Extended-ROM and make a reset or hardreset, doas delete it the Cab file simply.
Can someone say me which I can do that to prevent?
Each assistance is welcome, thanks a lot.
Greets Danny.
I found a good and function way to make.

I keep a backup copy of all of the executables I run from my Ext Rom in a subdirectory of my SD card. I make the backup before I upgrade and then copy them back to the Ext ROM after a hard reset and unlocking it.
The alternative is to make sure you don't upgrade the ext ROM when you upgrade the ROM. There are three upgrade files in a full upgrade:
nk.nbf - this is the O/S part of the ROM
radio.nbf - this is the Radio ROM
ms.nbf - this is the replacement Extended ROM
If you don't upgrade the Extended ROM (i.e. delete the ms.nbf from the upgrade sub-directory), your extended ROM will be preserved after the upgrade and hard reset. All you will have to do is unlock it. Just make sure you use an unlocking utility that doesn't erase the Extended ROM (i.e. not the one supplied by Jwright). There is one somewhere on the forum. Also, bear in mind that if you don't upgrade the extended ROM, you will lose the benefits of any EXTENDED ROM the ROM upgrade includes.
Looking -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251951&highlight=Extended+Rom+cooking
I make that and goes genial.
But I take not the "uni_extrom_unlocker.cab", I take the "ExtROM_Utility.exe".
Greets Danny.
ExtROM_Utility.exe at attachment. ;-)
I am not sure if this has been covered, but how do I add a cab file to the ext. rom on me phone so when I do a hard reset the cab files runs? Thank you folks
Well, first, you have to mount your ExtROM and make it writable by either making your device SuperCID or using Olipro's patched dll - please see http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unhide_Extrom.
Then you have to follow the structure of the existing ExtROM and modify the XML file in it accordingly. That file must reference all CABs you want to install. I'm not 100% sure about this part -- the ROM itself may need to reference the ExtROM's AutoRun application in order for it to start. If that is indeed the case, then you are dependent on the respective ROM cooks to put in that reference. I hope I didn't get any facts wrong here, I haven't actually done this myself.
Thanks, but that unhide the ext rom. When I tried to copy a cab file it tells me that the media is write protected.
You have some options. You can unlock the extended_rom by following the directions in the threads mentioned. Since that didn't work for you, you must have missed something in those threads. This will allow you to read and write from the extended rom like another sd card. However it will not address your issue of wanting it to run automatically on hard-reset. This is done by specifying it in the original "cooking" of the main OS rom as mentioned above.
Spend some time with the Wiki, and also in the upgrading section and with the stickys for more information.
Best wishes,
Greetings guys,
does any one know about the file extension .nb0 for ROM image? if yes how can i convert it to NBH file extension?
Thanks
Um, isn't that a Wallaby extension?
Sounds like it'd break something if you put it on your Hermes!
No Its a Hermes ROM, its 118MB!
Do you know how to covert it to NBH??
Thanks
Where on earth did you get it from?
Have you tried renaming it to an NBH and attacking with with Dutty's Rom Koch or something similar?
The HTC green wm6 that was posted awhile back was an nb0 at first, and the ext just needed renamed to nb..do not rename to nbh, but with an nb that should be an os or radio etc, and it wouldn't be prudent to flash a 118 mb os, so just delete that poop.
That isnt even a Hermes rom at 118mb, you're just asking for a brick.
Hi, Im trying to flash to the offical WM6 rom using the SD card. I've gone over the wiki's how to instructions but what I'm confused about is all it says to do is copy and rename the nbh file into the card. But what about the rest of the files? The nbh is just a few hundred kb, and the origional file is over 50MB. Is this really all I need? Or do other files need to be put in the sd card?
Thanks
what program do you use to extract files?
here are the steps i followed:
original file------> opened with winrar and extracted Ruu_inside.exe
Ruu_inside.exe file------> opened with winrar and extracted Ruu_signed.nbh (abt 90mb)
an then used nbhtool by Dutty and the guide by Mrvanx .
Good flashing
J.
Thanks, I am using winrar also. Which guide my mr.vanx are you speaking of? I seem to remember quite a few guides by him.
Here is the link , It's about downgrade but passages are the same for extract and rebuild a rom
where you'll put os and ext rom and radio( this late only if you like, i
did one for os and ext.rom and one for radio to flash apart).
Take apart ipl and spl you don't need them.
ah last but not least.. use Customruu.exe to flash your new rom.
Good reading J
