WMP 9.0.1 and MP3's - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Since upgrading to 1.31.00 WWE, Windows Media Player 9.0.1 refuses to play any of my MP3's
Is this a common fault?

Did you restore from a backup after the rom upgrade? You shouldn't do that, or some updated system files will be overwriten with the old versions.

No I didn't restore, I reloaded all my apps again, cause I wanted rid of the O2 Active rubbish!
Media Player plays movies fine, just ignores my mp3's :?:

D'oh looks like my SanDisk 512 Mb SD Card is at fault!
Sorry!

Qtek ( blue angel ) playing music problem SD

Hi.
I installed the HELMI version of WM 6.0 on Qtek 9090
But if i play music directly from my SD card, then its like music sticks and after
few seconds it will play faster then normal and finaly it wil play at normal speed.
Im sure it worked before i installed 6.0 i tried it on 3 different SD cards
but all of them has the same problem.so i dont think that its my SD cards fault
and if i copy the music files to my documents or any other folder on my qtek it will play normal except from Sd card.
but you probably understand that the BA doesn't have much room so cant store 100 + songs on it
plz help me out (dont want to put that s*cky standard CE version on my Qtek )
It´s an known problem.
use the search function and you will find a solution.

[Q] Desire doesn't find media files on SDHC

Ok, here goes nothing.....
Sorry in advance if there's a thread with a similar problem, but I didn't find anything with the search function
Recently, I've installed the Cyanogen mod on my HTC Desire.
Since it only had a 2 gig SD card in it, and I want to use it to play music in my car, I decided to go for a 8 gig SDHC memory card.
Here's where it gets tricky....
Somehow, when I use the new memory card, the phone's applications don't see the media files on it. This goes for the music, ringtones, notifications and alarm sounds, even though they do show in de browser.
I've made a one on one copy of the files. Both with a card reader as with USB.
When I put the old card back in, the files are found by the device (or rather, by the applications).
Things I've checked so far:
- File locations
- File system (both FAT)
- Formatting the card.
Anyone got any suggestions?
(And off topic, sorry for the elaborate post )
Greetings,
G.Junit.

[Q] Where's my music?

I have my music on my SD card location: /sdcard/external_sd/Music but when I open a music player (I have tried the pre-installed program and Winamp) I cannot find them at all. I have to go through Astro File Manager to find the music and indiviually click on the one song I want to listen to at that moment. Once the song is over, I have do repeat the process all over again. The file plays just fine in both players, but the player cannot find the files on their own. I pulled all the info from my sd card, reformatted it and placed the files back in there and it still did not help.
Any of you have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Peter!
It took me awhile to figure out on my phone. When I mount it I get a drive for the internal memory and one for the sd card. When I put the music folder on the root level of the sd card it worked fine. Hope this helps.

losing access to external SD card

Ever since I rooted my note 2, I keep losing access to the external SD card. Trying to access through file managers or apps (music or video player) results in freezing/hanging. If I unmount then mount, I will briefly have access and it will play files as normal. After I watch a movie, I will not be able to open another file. I have to unmount and mount again.
I've tried just about everything I can think of. still need to reformat the card. Any other ideas?
Can you see files on your ext sd with a file mgr? If you are only having issues with media players finding music or videos, there are a number of free "rescan" apps in market. This just happened to me (i.e., alarm clock xtreme and stock music player couldn't find my mp3 files on ext sd)... Only took 30 sec to resolve by running "Rescan SD" app... now all my apps can find my media files stored on ext sd... something to try at least...

Click to collapse
I'll try that. But the problem is with all apps including file managers.
I have the same problem. Everything worked fine for a month after root. Today i plugged in using a 3rd party charger and now the card wont mount or stay mounted. Ive used other 3rd party charges without problem. Could thisbe the problem?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you sd card is going. Backup all data on the card to the pc if possible.
SOLVED!!!!!!
FINALLY, THE SOLUTION!
I scoured all over internet trying to solve the issue of any media player finding music from neither SD Card (internal nor external), even though file explorers did, so I will be posting this on every relevant thread I find.
This method worked for me, so results may vary:
1- Download Rescan Media (I used the root version):
2- Download Media scanner:
3- Go to Settings / Applications / All / Media Storage and clear data
4- Reboot
5- Open Rescan media and disable the media scanner
6- Now re-enable it
7- Now, open Media scanner and tap Start scanning
8- Voilá, now every player will recognize the music stored on both SD Cards.
*As I said, this method worked for me, so maybe just some of the steps above were necessary, but... anyway.
Good luck!
