Has anyone successfully got rid of the SMS delivery confirmation dialog box. I tried the procedure at wiki:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Hacks
I tried both values 0 and 1 but I kept getting the dialog.
Also it would be nice to disable the new incoming SMS automatic popup. I want to read what I want to, when I want to. Just having the envelope icon added in the title bar would be a sufficient notification.
Generally I feel the pda2k needs much more customization options for notifications i.e. sounds, dialogs, pop ups, LED, etc. How about a replacement for the cpanel/sounds and notifications. In the mean time I would appreciate any working registry changes for these types of things.

Hi i was looking for a way to disable the message you get after sending a txt message... I send around 4,000 messages a month so after the first couple of hundred it gets annoying... I have tried some registry tweaks to no success... Any suggestions?
In the Messaging App go to account settings. Goto SMS Account and there is an option to disable SMS delivery notifications.
no that is to disable a text message that is sent from t-mobile... there is a pop up that appears after you send a message that i want to disable...
Not sure if you can disable it, but you don't have to do anything to the notification -- it goes away after a couple seconds...

you can. I've seen it on Tornado, but can't remember how it was done (reg tweak for sure)
yeah it is a registry hack but idk which one...
Smart tweaker has an option that disables them and it works fine on my dash so im sure its just a reg hack or you could get smarttweak.
where could i get one of these smart tweakers?
Google it...

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSDeliveryNotify"=dword:00000001
look for the above key in the registry.....set the 1 to 0 and reboot ,that should do it.
Nope, that one is allready set to 0. That iz probably to set the delivery notification, not the "message sent" notification
this is what we have on ppc-phones. maybe the setup is similar
Use a registry editor and go to:
HKCU\control panel\notifications\default\options
change the dword value to whatever suits your needs.
here are the following dword value and corresponding results:
0 - show icon
1 - show icon and play notification sound
2 - show icon and vibration
3 - show icon and vibration and play notification sound
4 - same as 0
5 - same as 1
6 - same as 3
7 - same as 3
8 - show icon and notification bubble
9 - show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble
10 - show icon and notification bubble and vibration
11 - show icon and play notification sound and show notification bubble and vibration

Or you could save some money and...
Go here:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1029606
Does that turn off the SMS delivery notification, that is also changeable in the account options, or does it get rid of the SMS 'sent' notification that pops up once the message goes out.

nope, it gets delivery notification off, not the popup, tested. the same can be achieved from text messages - settings.
we're still waiting for the solution to disable the popup...
the solution is right here

Did you bother reading the post above mine or did you just jump in to prove your juvenility?. Grow up Lad.
isnt there a free solution? because i dont feel like shelling out more money just for a stupid program
I'm sure there is a hack to hide the pop up notification which is displayed for about 5 secs when you receive a message
It's a bit embarrasing if you have the phone on the dashboard for satnav and then a private text is summarised as it arrives
All i want is the incoming tone and symbol - not the message sender and text displayed
Hide SMS notification
To hide the pop up notification:-
go to start, then settings, then click on sounds & notifications,
from the events dropdown list pick Messaging: New Test Message,
then just tick or untick display message on screen!
also has options for playing sounds and a flashing notification light.
Hope this helps, 1st time i have replied to anyone on this forum
Thanks Wooley - never noticed it there !!! All done now
Hays
I have tried the solutions that came up here on a search but none of them work. How ******g hard can it be to stop notifications popping up every 5 ******g minutes??????
I am using Microsoft's own piece of ***t software and, for reasons I won't go into now, I am going to continue using it so solutions, and not recommendations to use other programs, would be extremely well received.
Many thanks
Have you tried Settings | Sounds & Notifications | Notifications and ticking/unticking the desired options for messages?

I have the same problem. I'd love to hear from someone who has actually solved this problem.
Sorry all, but I am confused.
I dont have the popup.
Start - Settings - Sound and Notifications - Notifications Tab, Messaging: New Email message.
Took the ticks out of:
Play Sound
Display Message on screen,
Flash Light
Vibrate
All I get now is a notification on the HTC Home Plugin:
Using toms B&B 4.2, and email through an exchange server.
Hi! I'm using Tom's 4.2 with an Exchange server too. And of course I disabled everything as you suggest. What I get is:
- on HTC home, the count of unread messages.
- an "unread" email icon on the top bar
- a "Notifications" text in the left soft button
- when I click it, a popup appears reminding me I've unread messages, and I have to dismiss it.
All of this is overkill for me. And except the HTC home bit, it's all in the original ROM too, so it's a WM thing, unrelated to Tom's ROM.
What I want is:
- only the unread count in HTC home.
- if it can't be removed, I'd settle for the top bar icon too
- NO notifications about unread email. Save the notifications only for the urgent stuff. I don't want to have to dismiss the popup before I can use my left soft button for other more productive things.
I hope that clears it
Morning all, got my desire 2 days ago and still trying to get used to it after leaving my HD2. 1 thing i am annoyed at is the apparent inability to turn the notification bar off for sms, received/sent and STILL get a sound/vibrate.
I have found the settings in messages and handcert as i use that as my default sms now.
If i remove the tick from notification bar (in messages menu) and the sound 1 is ticked but then grays out. Nothing is shown or more importantly HEARD even though its ticked but grayed out. I have done the same for the handcert but it seems the notification settings in the messages program override the handcert ones.
Basically i want to have NO notifications on the notification bar but for it to make a sound and vibrate. Can it be done?

You could try duck tape?
Seriously its only fully visable if you pull it down, can't you just ignore it?
no really helpful that, i can ofc course ignore it. but being a non winMo i thought you could edit it so it just never showed up. i'd just prefer not to have to drag the thing down and click clear every time i send/receive a msg.
not asking much for such a customisable phone or so i thought.

If you read the message the notification disappears...
And you can change your whole ''desktop'' except the notification bar as far as I know.
Maybe a rom cooker can edit the android files but out of the box? No you can't change it. Sorry
And many people see the notification tab as a plus, and I do to I really have
a hard time imaging getting annoyed with it so sorry for my first response but it goes in the list of (for example)
1. I hate androids open source way of doing things, wich really is a virtue of android. 2. I hate htc sense (then don't buy it)
thanks for the reply.
I am just slightly annoyed that changing the settings in the original messages settings conflict and over ride the handcert sms ones. gonna try chomp and see if those settings can take priority over the default messages app.

You can set the settings for each program, if you want to turn off notifications, you can do that.
I have turned off notifications from the deafult messaging app and uses hancent's notifications.
If you dont want any og those apps notifications you have to turn them both off
Hello, I've read about 50 posts on different forums and found no solution to my issue. Hoping the wizards of XDA can help. I have unique notification sounds set up for various apps by going into the app's settings and selecting a unique tone. However, whenever a notification fires the default notification sound, under System Settings>Sound>Default Notification, constantly fires. The unique sounds I selected for Gmail, FB, Handcent, etc, will not play. Most likely I'm missing the obvious. Thanks.
Well, after half a day of my app notifiers not working, they are now working. Didn't do anything. I think my GS3 is just schizo.
