T-Mobile MDAIII software update (hopefully!) - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

After reading another thread re. T-Mobile taking the MDA III off their website, I phoned them and asked why.
They told me that they were updating the phones with new software to fix a couple of issues and then will start re-selling them.
I asked them what specific problems the fix was for and they said the bluetooth issues and "push email" (I can only assume they mean blackberry support).
I asked if I, an existing MDA III user can recieve the update - not available for download but they are sending me a CD with the software updates on it - so fingers crossed we might finally get the software upgrades we need!
I will post more when I recieve the CD..........

Some of us have already received it and I believe it has been uploaded into WIKI.
Have a look at the same thread in the Upgrading Forum.
Good luck

oops - I forgot to check the upgrade forum!
...and I was so excited I thought I was the first with news about this!

Any idea when T-Mobile will officially release the WM6 upgrade?

Any idea when T-Mobile will officially release the WM6 upgrade? I know they said Spring, and today is the first day of Spring. Anyone hear a date yet?
i %think% by the end of this month.
If you call support at 6-1-1 and ask for PDA support, you can provide your email and request a sms notification upon launch. Chances are though, if you hang out here, you'll get it just as soon, if not sooner, buy watching the postings

Thanks for the info guys, I am so tempted to take the jump with the betas on here. I'm just scared of bricking my Dash. Would you recommend diving into the beta build, or wait? Is it hard to install? I am comfortable with hacking the registry etc., just want to ask the experts here. Thanks in advance.
I couldn't hold out, the install went very well.

And Latest Update from T-Mobile UK

Hi,
As per the post below on O2 I thought I would drop T-Mobile an email.
Here is the reply
"Good afternoon.
Thank you for your email.
We had thought about providing an upgrade to WM6 for our devices, however we have decided against this. It was decided that our phones ran well with WM5 and to concentrate our resources on releasing our new MDA Touch and, in time, MDA Vario III with WM6.
Kind regards.

T-Mobile"
I am have been monitoring the various WM6 roms on this site but I was holding off on updating my MDAC3 to see if T-Mobile would update it. Seems like that ain't going to happen.
Bugger, may have to take the plunge with one of the ROMs on here.
Regards
take a plunge mate, use the uspl tool and then upgrade, its easy if you follow instructions,
thats T-mobile for you though, they dont look after there customers properly. shoddy i say. its not like they have to pay for it. they could even just get hold of the original htc copy and put there code on it for there branded device. ndont take much...
im using the new rom with the htc touchflo included, and its bloody awesome.
ive been running a few WM6 roms without any problems on my MDACIII.
Ive been running the 3.5 rom recently which is great and as we speak im upgrading to 3.7.
Please Delete.
not a scooby but its a higher version and im a sucker for the latest and greatest.
Please Delete.
Would I have to unlock my MDACIII if I am to also upgrade the ROM to WM6 of which is available here?
No, but you'll need to download and run the USPL first.

AT&T claims no kaiser in august and wm6 not ready for 8525 until end Q3.

Allways remember never believe anything about att, you will be waiting years for a rumor. You can buy a 8525 with wm6 at att store but the upgrade is not ready. that why I wouldn't get my hopes up about the kaiser.

WHere are you getting this info from ?
A source of mind that test att devices, said the kaiser is coming soon but not that soon. Allways remember AT&T has a 8 week test period for everything. An there's a video with the att rom, I wil post the link tomorrow.
You can't buy the 8525 with WM6 (at least not right now).

MOD - PLEASE DELETE THIS THREAD!! THis has nothing to do with WM6! @ the person who started this thread - stop posting information that number one - isnt true and number two - has nothing to do with the forum you're posting in.

Did you click the little "report post" button instead of bumping the thread?
Nope.
I'm closing the thread. The OP can PM me if he feels he has some real facts to post regarding the topic.

{closed topic 19 Nov}Official HTC/ATT US Rom off line or being upgraded?

The official HTC/ATT US Rom has been off line at HTC's Support thread for the last three days. I wounder if their is a newer ROM getting ready to come out.
Back up Now
I contacted them about it and they replied that it's a server error but the only thing I can think of is that the release file name no longer matches the link in the support download area of their site. Time will tell. I'll update this when I get a confirmation or the link starts working again.

I believe that there were a few posts regarding the AT&T rom, they had an announcement that the ROM is going to be posted for only a limited time, Although i am not sure if it is until the 18th or not.
On the site it says it will be available from November 1, 2007 to February 1, 2008.

i saved it on my hard drive if any one needs it.
Yes I have it also but was just surprising to see that the file is off line for the last 2 days. Could mean an update is coming I hope that may fix some of the problems many have been having. I have been useing the official ROM for about 2 weeks now in Florida and it's been running really well with no problems in radio except maybe a little less signal than what I had before running WM5 with radio 1.4x.
Anyway just started this thread as a means to keep an eye on the official to see what goes with it.
I also downloaded and now using the official wm6 from htc. I like it but no msn home anymore? gotta go online to check my hotmail? sucks! still no youtube streaming. other than that I like it a lot. I called htc just the other day and they said their site link is down because they are waiting for user reviews on it to release the final version in just a few weeks for the htc hermes/8525. they said the final release in a few weeks should fix any or at least some of the bugs in the pre wm6 release they put out for a short time.
I hope it's sooner rather than later and bug fixes are always welcome. I'm sure if they patch it up the cooks will be much happier around here. They are all great and their offerings are fantastic but if the code you get to work with is buggy from the start it makes life a lot harder to get out a stable and error free ROM. Not to mention all the time the Cooks put in patching the bad code they get from the officially released versions by HTC. [I'm trying to compliment all the cooks here if it doesn't sound like it your not getting my point ]
Looking to the future...
yep, I hear u. always nice to have a custom rom for ur personal needs. I just like to stick wit the legit version so when my phone bricks ill get a new one under warranty. these things cost too much to buy another one.
As of this morning it's still off line no change in the page yet.
Well it's back online now and no change in the file name so I guess not an update.
Consider this thread dead for now.

Newbie Alert - New Compact III German style &%*(^

After we purchased the T-Mobile Compact III, they told us that it would not switch to english. Now I am here and being flooded with Too Much Info. Could someone help out a poor sucker get this thing backed up, reflashed with an english version and maybe find a free GPS program? The only thing keeping me from running some of the stuff that I have found is backing up my current ROM. I want to be able to put the T-Mobile ROM back on the thing just in case....
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and probably by many service members here in Germany who will soon end up in my shoes.
Maybe my question was not clear....
I may have not stated my question clearly. I am looking for the T-Mobile German ROM that comes with the T-Mobile MDA Compact III here in Germany, or a way to back up the ROM on my Artemis...
I want to have the factory ROM on hand in case I have to reflash it back to original config... Once I have this or back it up, I can flash which ever rom I need. I do not want to end up with a brick that I cannot try to return to the original config.
Any help would be appreciated.
Growing Pains
Well, I have flashed my MDA with several ROMS to see which one my wife likes best. Risky, I know, but ya gotta please the missus...
I was disappointed that the WiFi was disabled in the german models, as it would have saved alot of money for us... O2 Germany's MDA's are WiFi enabled I found out today.
I am also disappointed that the GPS is very hard to get working. T-mobile cannot explain how to do it, and I am making that my next project.
For those who read this thread and decided that I was wasting space, sorry. I have read through about 45% of all artemis threads over the past 48 hours and my brain is thoroughly scrambled with TMI.
So far, Artemis Touch full version is the one that my wife likes, and I like it too. We tried the O2 ROM, but it is not compatible with the T-mobile network for some reason...(lol) Since I am still new, I have not learned how to flash a ROM using an .rar file yet, but with more thread reading I should be able to learn this as well.
BT Rom would not flash either, stating that it was the wrong model number. Found that in a thread as well... Next up... GPS...
