This really is the dumbest hard reset key sequence I have ever seen
This morning my QTEK 9090 'hung' completely. Software releated. For the first time I must add since I have the unit (nov 2004). I tried to switch it off with the power button. Didn't work. So I did a SOFT reset.
The result? A BLOODY HARD RESET    !
This is SO STUPID! Why doesn't the QTEK 9090 have a separate hard reset button like the XDA 1, which you can only use when you unscrew the stylus first. What were they thinking? Stupid, really really REALLY stupid!
And THANK YOU! you brilliant folks at Sprite Backup! I had an (old) backup so I managed to restore the unit. Lost some appointments, but that's my own fault, should have made backups more frequently.

Update: Maybe it's cause by i restore all program from my old Pocketpc Backup, and they have a bad conflication between program and hardware. Now i send my ppc to service for frashing rom and i will try to install it manually one by one.and less program i will use. So, After finished i'll tell you all the result.
Thank you for all you guys reading my topic.
Hard Reset
You dont need to remove the battery to do a hard reset. Just press and hold the power button on the top, and then use the stylus to press the 'soft reset' button on the bottem. That will hard reset the device. It should then power up and re-install its software.
Restoring a backup from an old device aint a good idea (same model, and operator required for sensible results). The backup will contain the windows dir, registry, as well as the operator unique progs that they put on the device to personalize it to them. Result will likely be not being able to boot, or device working incorrectly once started.
If the hard reset does not work, then you'll have to return it for a replacement.
Best bet will be to re-install all the progs from your own device and resync your email, contacts, blah from a PC.

I have the same problem after I upgraded my MDA II to WM2003SE and did a restore from backup.
If the device is in the cradle I can turn it on an also if I receive a phonecall it switches on. A soft reset works also. But if I just press the button nothing happens .........
Will do a hard reset and restore everything manually, see if that helps.....
Update: My board was broke. Services will change it for free but i take a little long times. Because spare parts wasn't avaible.
Have to wait few week.
Hi everbody,
first sorry for my english. i am german.
So now, this moring my MDA 3 has made an hardreset and since there, when pushing the phonekeys, contacts and calandar are opening!
So what could i do? I had made an Rom-Update (newest from T-mobil germany) but nothing helps.
Could I change this settings manually in the regestry? Any Ideas?
Thanks for responding.

OMG THE SAME THING'S HAPPENING TO ME TOO! It just happened.
I have a Cingular Siemens SX66 (PH20B1) with
ROM v1.33.10 WWE
Radio v1.02.10
ExtROM v1.33.110 WWE
It just suddenly soft-reset, but now the phone answer (green) and phone end (red) buttons don't work and open Contacts and Calendar simultaneously. Furthermore, my navigation keys don't work either! Whenever I push it in any direction, it automatically loads up the Contacts. The other hardware buttons work fine, though.
I tried restoring from a previous backup, and that didn't work. Then I tried doing a hard reset and not restoring a backup, and that STILL didn't work. I then did a restore from a backup after my hard reset and nuthin!!! I'm at a COMPLETE loss....this is startin' to scare me...any ideas? ANYONE?
Thanks!!

How did you guys go with your probelms.
I have a similar problem with mine after a low battery experience.
My buttons are only working sometimes, especially the multi-directional button.
I have read I should try a new battery, but haven't got one yet.
DLC
Turns out mine had just died. The buttons just didn't work, and it was very likely a hardware problem. I got a replacement in the end.
Good luck!

Hi all my old 2I got ran over so now have the xda exec. What software is there to get rid of the 02 stuff?
Also need to know exactly what buttons to do a hard reset if needed also is the code the same as the 2i? Ie 5306 or whatever it is?
Much appreciated John
hi great Phones not to sure on all your answers but for reset press both the buttons on top of keyboard marked with a "-" and push the reset then press 0 to hard reset or x to exit also get the vga hack its amazing makes it the best Phone/pda ive ever had i love mine
After you do a hard reset, when it gets to the "Wait 3 seconds" part, soft reset again. That prevents anything from O2 from being installed. You will basically have a clean, fresh ROM of whatever ROM version you have.
Hi Guys...
This is going to amke me sound like a right noob...
I have an O2 XDA IIs, but need to remove the O2 theme from it as i have unlocked it and put a different flavour of Sim Card in it.
When i bought th phone it didn't have the O2 theme on it, but them the battery ran flat and when it reloaded after being charged...It had the O2 Theme on it.
Any Advices would be apreciated.
Cheers Guys
Hard reset the device and when it boots up sit with it, at the end of the customisation it will offer a screen to install personal mode or Corporate mode, select Corporate mode and enter the numbers 0506 as the password, this will stop the device loading all that useless crap on to it.
Make sure you sit with it though as the default is to time out and install personal mode thus putting the crap on the phone - Mike
bring this back to life...
ok...i tried to hard reset the phone following instructions i found elsewhere...
but i cant get it to hard reset...
anyone got any advice...that isn't smash it with a hammer or throw it out the windew?
Its on its last chance now...getting fustrated with it!
Please help..
Thanks.
since it's WM2003(se)...
just take out the main battery and leave the backup battery to drain.
it will eventually hard-reset.

Do Soft Reset while holding down the power button

Smurf
I bought a 2nd hand XDA Orbit with all the correct software and that. I've had a problem with it before, nothing a good hard reset couldn't solve. But today, I did exactly the same thing for a hard reset, and now doesn't go past the O2 screen and just goes black!
I cannot hard reset again, and I cannot go into the bootloader (hold power + voice thing on the other side, push the reset with stylus and let go while still holding the buttons on either side). I'm rather scared I've bricked the device, but I am sure the previous owner did not load any unofficial ROMs and I haven't either and I still have the original WM2003 CD. Wouldn't be a problem if I eventually had to go to an O2 shop would it? Lets hope it can be sorted! And seeing as quite a few people have had this with varying degrees of sucess, I fear my luck may be out with this thing .
I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
Oh and I don't think my device i CID unlocked, does this matter?
Thanks in advance x
fixed
