Great idea for Infrared Keyboard

I found this item on ebay, it claims to work on all pda's with infrared. Instead of paying out for an expensive keyboard that probably wont work with the xda this has to be a good thing. It enables you to use a standard ps2 keyboard with your pda. I know a big keyboard isnt very portable but for use at home or in the office it isnt a problem. Here is the link.

I just got in contact with the seller of this item and he offers a 14 day money back guarantee.
Did u get one?
Did you give it a whirl and buy one?
It's look like a good tool!
Is it compatible with the MDA Windows Mobile 2003?
Is it working for anybody yet?
well i suppose that it's a question about if it'll work with any driver for the pocketpc

Co-Pilot Installation

hi every1,
my 3 contract runs out next month and i am thinking about getting the MDA Compact III.
My question is about co-pilot that comes with the t-mobile UK bundle. I was wondering if was able to get hold of the installation cd's from somewhere ... can i install it on my empty memory card
are there any serial numbers or anything that i might need?
//edit
just another question to add. anyone with the co-pilot bundle. i went to a t-mobile shop today to ask them about a similer question. worded differently tho lol. seem to have answered my question. the co-pilot bundle does come with original installation cds for you to re-install them on your mem card. ;-)
but the women said that the co-pilot bundle comes with an antenna that plugs into the back of the phone. now im wondering
1) is this really needed? bcoz i thought the GPS was in-built????
2) wot type of antenna would i need? and how much do they cost?
thanks,
Snoop
Ive ordered a compact III without the copilot bundle. from reading other peoples reviews, they have installed software such as tomtom on the pda and it worked successfully. Hence im pretty sure you dont need any sort of antenna. Interesting to know what they meant?

thats a good point you know. maybe she said that it comes with attenna because it would help boost the signal. bcoz my friend has a navman pda and he uses an external attenna to do just that.

Sounds interesting.
Maybe they include an RDS antenna to get live traffic updates??
Can anyone confirm this?
hi guys,
regarding this external antenna. please read below. found it on this website http://htcphonestore.com/review.asp?itemMDL=HTC_P3300
GPS Navigation
One of the best features of the Artemis is the integrated GPS. With a built in GPS Sirf-Star III chipset, navigation was seamless. The unit comes bundled with TomTom 6, and included in your purchase is the ability to download one free city-map. Additionally, there is an external antenna port on the back of the unit which enables you to achieve better satellite reception. More on the GPS capabilities in Part II.
just need to find out what type it is. maybe some with the manual can have a read through and tell us. if under there accessories section they mention anything.
thanks,
snoop
found this description about a Bluetooth GPS antenna?
http://www.yourkindamobile.co.uk/upgrades2_orange.asp?Phone=2036&Network=T-Mobile
Includes Co-Pilot GPS navigation which gives you spoken and on-screen turn instructions, satellite positioning, address-level street map, ETA and distance remaining, detour around traffic and 2D or 3D display with night mode. Bluetooth GPS antenna included.

If you really think you need an external aerial for the GPS unit in your device (which I doubt to be honest) have a search for the part number 36H00352-00M it transpires that the same aerial was supplied for the I-Mate PDA-n, you can purchase one from http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=129590 (at least I can improve the reception on my PDA-n now I know that! and I have found a use for the external GPS aerial that was supplied with my Arte) - Mike
To confirm guys...
I opened the box to an MDA III co-pilot and the package contains:
Software
Moulded Car Holder (Windscreen Sucker)
Car charger for MDA
No GPS antenna and no Bluetooth receiver. This product retails at 169.99 compared to 199.99 with the GPS bluetooth receiver (Vario, Vario 2 etc...)

wwwhoooo thanks treblechance. thanks for confirming, must mean the shop assisant meant that you can BUY one extra. like the one pointed out by mikealder. because i know a friend who has one of those navman pda's and he is using an external attenaa to boost the signal. and simply plugs in the back, similar place to what the shop assisstant showed me.
looks like i what need to buy the copilot bundle after all SAVING me a bundle of $$$ hehe
thanks everyone for the help.
If you have the hardware and only need the GPS software try using it first with the inbuilt GPS, don't go wasting money on the external GPS aerial, the receiver in the Artemis is very good without re-course to an external feed. If you have a car with Athermic coated glass you might experiance a signal drop but even so I would try it first and it should be fine with just the device on its own - Mike
ye good point mike. thats what some of my friends said. thanks

Hi,

TomTom on the MDA Compact III? Anyone used one?
Hi all,
I am in the process of getting tmobile mda iii compact without the bundled co-pilot but tmobile call centre said it wouldn’t work but I’m very taken with tom tom.
So I am seeking information from anyone that has actually pulled it off.
This is because I would like to know if there are any negatives involved and what.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanx

hi,
i think they may be right. i tried getting co-pilot to work on my mda but wasnt having any of it. so i gave up in the end. i think the only way you can install it is using some kind of auto install file that is on the memory that is provided when you buy the bundle.
as for tom tom. i have managed to get that working just prefect. i tried it inside my house wasnt getting a very good signal. stepped outside...and hey presto 11 signals picked up. i havnt done full test of it i.e. driving from my house to another location. but it seemed to work fine when i did a small walk around my local area.
hope that helps.
regards,
snoop
i have a question about copilot's installation. Does anyone know where the license file is installed. I had copilot installed on one device and copied files onto another device thinking that would save me download time. Anyway now it keeps picking the licensing info from the previous device. I have tried uninstall and reinstall but that did not help. If someone could help me with resetting the licensing info so I can register the software with the new key. Thanks.

what is my sx66 worth?

I have been trying with no luck to sell my BA SX66 for $85.00. Is that too much? I am running latest radio and WM 6.5. Any suggestions for the price? It is in great shape.
the blueangel
The blueangel is like that... an angel dude! put it as a trophy on your room
if you dont want it give it as a gift to somebody that needs to starts as a WMuser... or wait till the chefs make some new things and get amazed when it runs on your OOOOOLDDDDD BA!
Sell it? huh!
LOL. Thanks for the reply. Maybe $83.00 then. That'll get er' moving!
I purchased one for US$45 with shipping, do you think this is a good deal? I am planning to refurbish it with new case, screen etc and sell it off for around $100 (this will be with a new case, so no scratches etc)...
I bought entire lot of 6 SX66's on ebay for $112
I bought an entire lot of 6 SX66's on ebay for $112 (free shipping). It included charger, car charger, base unit, usb cable, everything except for stylus which i got from HK - 10 of them for 12 bux. I networked them have them all running Qtopia/Openmoko (BabelO's build). I connect into them over their WLAN.
x86 - where do you plan to buy the case from? I'm looking out for a replacement case for my badly-scratched blueangel as well.
ParMaster - how does openmoko look on your SX66? i would like to try a linux OS on mine, it would be very useful if you can post some pics of your SX66? Do you have full phone / sms functionality?
Cheers,
dtd

As far as I'm aware we don't have NaviPanel installed by default - could this be packaged with Froyo possibly?
It's a bit of a leap of logic, but it seems significant that they're choosing 22nd July to launch this when the Froyo rumours seem to be pointing towards the next fortnight. Why else would they wait so long to get a product like this out?
EDIT:
If your Desire is not unlocked and it's from any particular operators, then the phone might not come with NaviPanel' software.

I'm not allowed to link, so here's the broken version:

Cheers to all for the replies, the HTC one is the same price as the bloody phone Looks the part though.
I saw the brodit one before alright, the mounting mechanism is a bit naff though. Prefer the good ol suction jobbie on the windscreen

You have to stick a cable into your phone with that i think. Im looking for something like the brodit where you dont need to use any cable. the micro USB plug is mounted in the stand
I bought one of these from the bay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260613246983
Had one from the same company for my HD and it was brilliant!
They're a little pricey, but they fit perfectly and do the job nicely!
I have two , the brodit and a cheap one from ebay that I got for travelling.
Brodit is nice but doesnt allow you to use a flexiskin on the desire. The cheap one does as it has two pressure pads at the side, and its amazing for the price. Used it for a weeks holiday abroad without any problems.

Ended up buying this:

Found it in the Accessories forum
Cheers to all for the advice!

The latest Google Maps came with a separate navigation panel, look for an icon that looks like a blue arrow pointing up. That's what will open automatically.
People need to stop reaching with the FroYo theories

MSI BGP100 Bluetooth controller

As far as I can tell this is on the only bluetooth controller that is compatible with a non modded EVO. The only problem is is that I can't find this thing anywhere other than Ebay. On ebay this stupid controller is going for over $100! Unreal. dxetreme.com (chinese based site) used to have them but no longer does.
If any of you guys have any insight on where I can buy one of these for a fair price please let me know.
Bueller...Bueller?
I've been looking for them too man with no luck. I'm fairly certain they've been discontinued.
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13760
edit... outta stock
This sucks! Are there any wired controllers that will work with the EVO?
I have one of those that I bought for my WM phone and sync'd it to my EVO, but the response time is so laggy, its not even really useful. I tried it with an NES emulator and it just sucks.

I have one I will sell you. It is the black one. Has a brand new battery in it. Used it once and realized I don't use emulators enough to keep it. Will sell it to you for what I paid.
Ill buy it
Let me know if you still have it I'd love to buy it if the price is right.
