Questions about Xda Exec and JasJar

I am relatively new to HTC Universal platform. I own an O2 XDA Exec and an Imate Jasjar. I have a few questions, mainly about my O2 Xda Exec:
Q1: How can make backup of my recieved & sent SMSs? I mainly use my device as a stand alone, without syncing with any machine (as I am mainly an OS X and Linux user). I have tried to search for it, but can't find any useful information.
Q2: Can I delete any of the .cab files from my extended ROM without hampering the performance of my O2? As I am currently live in PK, I don't have much use for the O2 apps. I have done the registry hacks to change the PIE hardware button to point to about:blank page.
Q3: After having used Imate Jasjar, I would like to achieve the functionality of switching between languages (i.e. arabic & english with FN+SYM) while having arabic settings in my O2 like I had them in Imate JJ.
Q4: My O2 Device Details are:
Code:
ROM Version: 1.13.82 WWE
ROM Date: 11/30/05
Radio Version: 1.04.02
Protocol Version: 42.37.P8
ExtROM Version: 1.13.188 WWE
Which one of the above are outdated? How can I upgrade these? I am not asking about the whole procedure here, if you have any URLs, that would help me immensly.
Q5: Being a Linux user, is it possible to dual-boot WM5.0 and Xandrux? (keep in mind, I have a 2 GB card, that I can use for some real OS)
Q6: If for Q5 answer is no, then I would like to make a backup of my whole O2 (like making an image of a hard-drive), so that I can install Xandrux on it and be able to revert back to the original settings if things fail. Is such thing possible, i.e. taking backups of the entire device?
I would appreciate some help from everyone in this regard. I have searched the forums and the wiki and I have found some good pages, but I want to get everybody's feedback (maybe you know of a better page, description, software, etc., which I am not aware of).
S.D.
alright, i guess no one wants to offer any help here. i will make it more simpler. I want to run the same apps (mainly, arabizer cabs) from my imate on my O2. I have copied the .cabs from my imate's extended rom onto my O2, but arabizer simply crashes, giving an error msg: 'can not run on this device'. What does this mean? is my rom outdated? I have also noticed, that my flash chip type is G3 on my O2, but my imate says 'M-Systems'. Help would be appreciated.

Linux on WM5 upgraded BlueAngel

Hello,
I recently upgraded my BlueAngel from WM2003SE to the latest WM5 bulild from Helmi (v1.3) and since then I cannot boot linux from SD card anymore.
I tried using the haret.exe from Universal but it doesn't help, also tried both 2.6.12 and 2.16.16 kernels from rob_w, but the kernel doesn't even boot
I wanted the WM5 because having to reinstall everything after linux shutdown it's a PITA :'(
Will I need to downgrade to WM2003SE or is there any way to boot linux on WM5?
What is preventing it to work?
Is there any work to do / research or something I can help with?
Thanks for your answers!
the haret doesnt work on wm5, cr2 had a few ideas that i tried for him but still no success, so atm no

Could I possibly get some help?

Hello. Sorry if this is in the wrong area, but I am new to flashing roms, and I don't know who to ask for help. I have an audiovox ppc4100 and all I want to do is upgrade it to windows mobile 5 or 6. Just something other than wm2003. I've downloaded numerous wm6 and wm5 images from this site (They are extremely cool looking from the screenshots I've seen!) but I cannot seem to get any of them to work. I am running windows vista, so activesync isn't available. Its the windows mobile device center. It would just be easiest if I could rom upgrade from my 2gb sd card. Is there anyone who can help me either cook a wm5 or wm6 rom for my ppc4100 or give me some pointers on how to do this (remember, I'm a newbie!) I would really appreciate anyone's help. Thanks so much!

roms are custom made for devices only a rom which is made for that type of hardware setup will do you any good

Waypoint 100 PDA WM6 possibility

Gurus,
I am a newbie and want to find out any possibility to upgrade mobile crossing waypoint pdas to WM6. Since I can not find any similar WM6 ROM as a base ROM, I want to combine the original bootloader in WM 2003 with Microsoft Standard ROM to try out.
Could someone here provide any guideline and introduce some tools that might be useful?
Thanks
the so called ms stadart rom cant be run on any device
it lack all drivers which have to be made and provided to it
with wm5 the driver model was changed meaning that wm2003 based
drivers dont really work
which is the reason why many devices never move from 2003SE
the tool used to add the drivers to the base os is called platform builder
and is only legal for people to have if ms gave it to them
people like htc hp and the likes
Thanks, Rudegar .
So chances for WM6 seem remote. Since what I really want is more memory for programs, I can still move some files from 2003 ROM to storage card.
Will the tools in wiki.xda-developers.com work for waypoint?
Will Tools for HTC chips work for waypoint?
Mainly, I want to remove some files and let the PDA has more memory for programs.
Thanks

Java problem

Hello every one.
I have a problem with my Java on Artemis P3300. I want to install a program called
<Battle.net Mobile Authenticator> made by Blizzard. It has to run on WM based devide like the Artemis but they say it is verry sensitive to the Java version on the phones. Do any 1 know what version of Java I need to Install on the artemis to run that program? Or any tips that can help me?
Well, you're posting in the wrong subforum. I'll move it to General, since it's not related to unlocking or rom cooking or anything. Maybe someone else can help you.
Good luck with your problem.
