Hi all,
I've lost the time on the top of the today screen (on my MDA III). I don't know how i did that or when.
Can anyone tell me how to get it back?
Rico
thanx CarlnAdele,
but i'm talking about the time next to the volume icon. All the way at the right hand top.
Rico
anyone?
same thing appeared to me
no clue what I did to get that
hey Rams,
Ii found the solution in the magician section of this forum.
I don't know how to link to it so I copied the solution here.
In the Registry go to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell
If not exist make a key TBOpt (Binary Value)
Possible values and there meaning are as follows:
0 = no time or date
1 = time
2 = date
3 = both
That should do it.

I've seen this posted somewhere but a search found nothing.
So, before upgrading my Orange ROM the Day and Date were on one line of the today screen;
Friday 19 May 2006
After upgrading, the day is on one line and date one line down;
Friday
19 May 2006.
Any of you smart guys know how to fix this back to one line ?
My device is SPV M5000 WM5
One question...why does it matter? :?:

Two reasons - a) because you can (hopefully), and most importantly,
b) I have a pretty full today screen - Date, Calendar, Task Plus, Pocket Plus and Messaging and the extra line equates to one extra line that I can't see at a glance (ie without scrolling)
Yes at least two projects currently in the forum
First by levenum - lvtime v good and he just updated. 1 line date and solves the battery/time problem in the taskbar see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45084
Second by ei99070 Also v good but not quite as advanced as levenum's see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=45742
You can try both and decide
Many thanks meschle.
Don't know why my search produced nothing !
Downloaded now and about to have a play.
Cheers
Rick
Excellent !
Just added dddd to front of String Value in HKLM\nls\overides\SLDte to give dddd dd MMMM yyyy and it's perfect. Love the seconds option on the clock !
I use rlCalendar developed by Rotlaus
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=27544
I just use the date portion, not the calendar. You can define the format and put it on one line or two (play with the X Y settings) and adjust the font size. I have it set for about the size of a watch display but you can make it as small as the system time.
I did a search before asking and couldn't find anything (at least in the Hermes forums)...
My phone displays "UMTS Cingular"... is there a way to change it to say something else?
Hi
A small change in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
Add a string with your operators operatorcode in the Name field, and whatever you like in the String field.
Thanks for that
thanks also for the excellent info but how do u find out the operatorcode of my operator?
im on vodafone uk and my phone displays UMTS vodafone UK.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Andy..
as an addendum to your advice... I don't have a " HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames" in my registry
Thank you,
nice tweak.., for all T-Mobile Germany users operatorcode is 26201
or look here http://www.m-99.co.uk/Mobile_Phone_...ork_Codes/service_provider_network_codes.html

Are you sure? Which prog did you use for browsing the registry?
pronor
I have tried two reg editors to be sure - Mobile reg editor I have found to never have an issue...
In my HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\ directory I have APIInfo and lots of folders numbered 0 - 128
If I go up to my HKLM\comm\cellular\ril\eons.cache\ I have an OPL and a PNN dir
Not sure if that could be it ( using WM6 )
Same here, I want to change that and also do not have a " HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames" in my registry. I am using WM6 also.
@rgreenpc and darktiger
You have to create a new directory "OperatorNames" for example using totalcommander.
still not quite right...
The registry entry successfully changes the Operator Name but the "UMTS " string is still inserted before the new operator name
Is there a way to stop this UMTS string from appearing?
Many thanks,
caruthers
you have to change \HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\
LongnamePrefix=UMTS
here can you write whatever you want eg. 3G
the Key have to set to 1
Enable3GLongNamePrefix=1

I can confirm that this way works. I did this a while back and have had no issues.
That's great - it works perfectly
Many thanks Mosquito and maevro
It used to work for me, and I see the name I have chosen for like 5 secs, but then it switches back to AT&T. Is there something else?
yeah, i tried 3 diff reg editors, phm, ceregedit and one other, never got it to stick once. thats the carrier name. i have however managed to change the 3G name.
Hi All,
I bought an AT&T 8525 phone and installed WM6. Since then, there some keys that are incorrectly mapped and there is no possibility in the OS to modify them.
The incorrectly set keys are not the standard ones but the ones accessed by pressing the blue dot key (upper marked symbols).
They are: Q displays ! instead of ~
W displays @ instead of !
E displays ? instead of @
A displays _ instead of ;
S displays " instead of -
D displays : instead of _
F displays - instead of ?
Has somebody experienced this and perhaps managed to solve the problem? In the ATT forum there is a CAB file (Shortstring...) but it does not work.
Many Thanks for your support,
I hope this information will be useful for other 8525 users,
Best Regards,
Adriano

I have an 8525 and it worked fine for me.
you can also locate and install Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v1.1, it has many useful features including the one to change the language set of the keyboard... I chose English instead of Cingular, since I don't have the Cingy/ATT branded version... if you have the 8525, then you select the Cingy layout...
I can concur... choosing CINGULAR in Schaps Advanced Config tool fixes the keyboard problem. Thanks Schap

I have also had this same problem with my 8925. I have tryed everthing suggested, including changing the registry keys myself. I have still yet to figure out how to solve this problem.
So far I have tryed in the Advanced Config Tool:
English Reboot and Nothing
Chinese Reboot and Nothing
Cingular Reboot and Nothing
German Reboot and Nothing
Any other suggestions?

Hold up. Looking closer. I see that what you have listed is the settings I need. Here's what happens on mine
Q Key return @ instead of !
W Key Return ! instead of @
T Key Returns # instead of a *
V Key Returns a * instead of a #
X Key Returns a & insight of a "
S Key Returns a " instead of a ;
D Key Returns a % instead of a :
C Key Returns a : instead of a =
L Key Returns a = instead of &
Again,
I have tryed Advanced Config with most of the languages and still had no luck. Could it have something to do with the ROM?

Hi !
I am trying to costumize my title in the Cclock part of the home menu on my phone (The one that shows you the time and has the network title; in my case it's "Rogers Wireless")
I am trying to find out how i can change the "Rogers Wireless" for something else i want.
Anyone knows where i can go into my phone to accomplish that ?

You should be able to change the text at this reg location:
HKLM\System\State\Phone\Current Operator Name
I'm not sure it will stick for any amount of time, as it gets updated by the carrier. I use mortscript to write data(text) to it for viewing in my FeatherWeather app.
Hey thanx Showaco !
Where can i get mortscript ?
And how could i set it up to update the name i usually want ?
Here is MortScript.
Show can help you on the second question
Oké ...
I tryed to make a script and here's a small little template of what i've cooked =)
Code:
contrun=1
while(contrun=1)
RegWriteString( "HKLM","System\State\Phone","Current Operator Name","Cyberflow")
Sleep (5000)
EndWhile
exit
I guess that the "Sleep (5000)" will make it run at all the 5000 milliseconds ?
Is it proprely coded ?
Hope that my questions will help others too =)

yep, should work fine, the sleep 5000 will make it wait the 5000 milliseconds( 5 seconds) and then rewrite the "Cyberflow" again. Just place a lnk into startup folder for it to run when you reboot your device.
I have seen some screenshots of Rhodium TF3D today screens where the owners name was displayed in the top right corner. Can anyone please tell me how to do this? If I tick the box Owners name in WM Today settings Items tab it does not display. I believe this is because it runs TF3D and not WM today. Thanks!
There is a work around for this problem.
There is an application called Personaliser. It masks the Carrier Name with any name you choose to display.
Quite helpful as I have 2 TP2s in the house- mine and wife's.

Thanks! I installed personaliser and it works
I search high and low just couldn't find it...
p.s. if anyone knows how to display the carrier name + owners ID (left/right) I would still be interested to know!!
