Restart Or Shutdown Button In Pda ??? - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

hey....
before buying xda II i used my friends Siemens SX-56 thats xda I i guess and guess what when you click on start it had options to restart or shutdown.
why dont we have this feature in xda II ??
regards
jeetz

you can get many free programs which turn off your device when you click them if you dont feel like pressing the off button on the device
same thing with restart (soft reset)
like here
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/shutdown.shtml
of cause it's rare then people soft reset their device (hopefully)
and using the button or just setting the auto turnoff is what most people do
just search there are 1M's of freeware programs out there to suit most peoples needs

thanks

arm are the only cpu family supported by pocketpc's after 2000
those mips and such are really old pda's
always arm
this program does everything
http://pocketpc.pdatopsoft.com/PocketPC/psShutXP---turn-off,-display-off-and-restart-PDA

Hi All
I've had my xda II for about 2 years and never done anything with it apart from unlock it & load navigator. Didn't even know the black chip init was just a card filler! (duh)
Is there anywhere on here that can give m a break down of all the things I can do. I see lots of pos
ts about rom & bootloader etc. Don't have a clue what they are but want to get the most out of my XDA II.
Would be nice to remove all the o2 stuff from it if possible. Also the default settings that load when you do a hard reboot. Some are definately needed but a lot is just crap that I have to remove everytime.
Any pointers, links etc would be much appreciated
thanks

hi jade,
Try pocket skype (you need broadband and wireless router though and drains battery quick - 1 hour tops), Pocket metro (Free), tcpmp and many others.

Regarding bootloader: STAY AWAY FROM IT!!! Bootloader is like BIOS in a PC, it loads the OS. Even for experienced user, messing with it is the easiest way to brick a device.
Regarding 02 stuff:
Hard reset you device, then just after you finished calibration and Dr. Johnson thing soft reset it before extended ROM cabs are installed. This should get rid of it.
Also have a look at the WiKi. There should be a way of unlocking the extended ROM and getting rid of the o2 stuff permanently. You might also get about 10MB of permanent storage out of it.

Works xpanel?
wait,im confused now...
is this free? i mean on that website it says that all those who purchase ver 2.x gets an upgrade for free...
since we got a freebie panel from sony, does that means this one free too?
unfortunately no.. i tried it and it asked me for serial.. btw this is not panels.. and i found a few times bug which conflicct with panels.. when you got it for a long time.. when you preass panels button, it hanged.. never happened before until i installed this..
I never had a problem with SPB and I am using it ever since it hit the market (2003). There are also new features and integration with other Spb Software House products. Amazingly accurate battery indicator. Real "Close" button instead of minimizing the application. I dont have to use the Start button to find applications and documents anymore.
All in all SPB never failed me.
It's not free of course. You can take the answer here: MOD EDIT: No it's not
Just enjoy!

Whats the difference between ARM an KG? I know ARM is the processor type (i think, im not as clever as alot of you ) but would that mean KG is another processor which isnt going to be compatible with X1?
It s a serial, warez and co.
Please don t post them in this forum.

The forum rules prohibit warez.
Consider this your warning.
Dave
Version 3 is amazing!!!
Hope SE will make a panel for it...
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i get it, KG = Keygen
it sucks,,i just upgraded to touch-it5 spb mobile shell is crap looking,,removed it
Panel Button dont work for me (everytime soft reset), no customisation on folders...
uninstalled and hope 4 panel version
does this also work in wm6.5?? did someone test it
I have the same problem with the panel button, though panel button worked once when i switched back to WinMo Today Screen, a bit inconvenient though. But at the same time im not using panels at the moment. Hard reset device yesterday and havent been bothered about panels.
I myself have tried many different skins and such and I really like the layout of this. I love the addition of the widget screen which is very customizable. Whether you like this or not will come down to your preferences and what you're used to. I'm used to this type of skin, so I love it. Others may not...but that's their choice.
Enough of that...Good job SPB on a great upgrade!!!!!
I have installed the SPB 3, which is the trial version, and it looks awesome, but, when i click the "X" Panel button my X1 just freezes and needs to push the soft reset button under the battery cover to reset it.
Is anybody else having this problem, or found out a way to sort it out?
Are SE making a panel version of this does anybody know?

my does not freeze, dont think this is a final release as i cant deselect the shell from the home menu.
also i would of thought that spb would of added panel support as they have with there weather and travel software.
ps. mine has not asked me for a serial code yet? where is the registration menu?
I also think its pre-release because their website hasnt been updated, and also just added facebook interoperability to it (a feature) which has slowed down the app...
left to right gesture swiping is not changing page, only up and down (from the pro business menu. works from the widget menu.
anyone else got this?

Remap 'home' button to 'start'

Along the bottom of the phone there's a home button and an endcall which, within programmes, seem to do the same thing - take you back to the today screen. Or, in my case the 6.5 CHome thingy. And the back button in most apps takes you to the home screen too - so that's three buttons largely doing the same thing most of the time.
The new phones with 6.5 preinstalled will have a windows-flag start menu button, I assume this will open up the new hexagony start menu.
Is there a way of remapping the home button so it launches the start menu instead?
That is EXACTLY what I have been thinking for the last days. Pressing Home-key should naturally bring up the start-menu.
Nice idea, even because reaching the top left corner with your right thumb(maybe for left handed it's easier ) while holding the HD with the right hand is a little bit tricky
I'd like something small to do this but I have a feeling most people will return with the suggestion "use aebplus to remap"
I have the same feeling wiggz, There must be a registry key or something that can be changed and put into cab format? Anyone got any ideas?
Me to
So, we are many!!
I too have been looking for a way to do this for ages.
I too will be watching this thread with interest and hope.

so as the home button is coded into manila it mean's one has to play with the manila files and remap to start menu all that would mean is to change some scripts!!
bottomline Home button in theory can be mapped to the start menu!! so it's plausible!!!
i'm going to watch this thread as well --- i've been looking for this since I got hold of my HD. I've already remapped the "back" button to S2U2 via AEB since you are correct, essentially the home, back, and end buttons all work very similarly.
Hoping that someone posts a solution to this!
i have the solution...install this program and you can change all the hard keys to do almost any function...i have mine set up to do the exact same thing that you want it to do!!
cheers!!

Thanks, but could give more informations to remap keys, please ? The list is empty when i launch the application ...
Same here. I was so happy when I found this thread..
When I tried installing that, it did not work... Maybe it was my ROM.
There are REG keys that remap home in certain cituations, i.e. manilla but I have yet to find a way to get the reg key to do anything else.
The new keypad.dll maps it to a normal vk_lwin, so you can remap it as you like.
Unfortunately I have not yet seen it an any ROM.

It is for Diamond and the author says here post 10 "For the touch HD, maybe you should download HTCAPI.DLL somewhere, put it in /Windows and try again". Haven't read the whole thread though so not sure if this is what the problem is.
i know its a little confusing to get it started...so heres what you do...install cab, go to program files\dredsensor and click on dredsensor.exe and a config.ini will appear...now close out whatever app you are using to view files...and open dredsensor...now you will see default under name...tap default and then click menu, then edit...change type to launcher...then go to click and tap the gray box next to the home key...go to events and chose Misc:Start, hit select, hit ok to comfirm, change whatever others you want to...then hit save, then hit ok to confirm...then hit exit...then you should be good to go...hope this helps!!

[W10] Wake up on double tap for tablets?

Hi guys,
Win10 topic almost dead but maybe someone here knows the trick and can share? Is there a way to enable W10M feature "double tap to wake up" on the regular W10 running on tablet with the touch screen?
AFAIR, it was just a registry change for W10M (but maybe I'm wrong and some additional dlls must be installed).
So, if you know how please share.
I have never tried honestly. There is an app called ModernGlance though that might help piece it together if you know what you're looking for. It has a dbl tap option to wake the device while the app is active. It's basically a mimic of the Lumia Glance screen for tablets. Maybe check it out?

I have a Dell Venue 11 Pro, and if it is not in sleep mode only the screen is off, I can tap once on the screen and the screen comes on. So this particular tablet has some fw and digitizer support some where...If the whole tablet is in sleep mode though obviously it won't wake since ACPI power settings are not like an ARM device (Always on/Always Connected).

Sometimes it's not an easy, especially if you are wearing a hard working gloves (it's not about me but about workers who's using my software and do a hard work)
The double tap to wake up features on lumia is handled by a small system service (whose name I forgot), it's made by nokia and it might even work in correlation with the display panel driver, so I doubt you'll get this to work on anything but arm and lumia devices. But people could try building a service/driver to achieve this on PCs (but I have a feeling that will have to be heavily hardware specific). I also doubt all tablets on the market support touch events while being locked.
Guys.... there is a hack. I'm searching for it, I remember using it on my 530.
EDIT: here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66993628&postcount=418
@gus33000, thanks for the info; yes, it looks like you're right and this is a Lumia specific feature. By the way, do you know how to change system power policy from UWP app? For example, I'd like to turn screen off after 3 minutes of inactivity but completely disable standby mode. I understand it can be done via standard control panel applet or registry provisioning but will be good to have provide that feature directly from UWP app.
