I can get a DOPOD 700, which is an HTC Blue Angel device sold in Taiwan and Chine. Unfortunately the device is in Chinese. Is there any way to upgrade its ROM to an English one?

I can't post the ROM, as i haven't purchased the device yet. I'm currently in Taiwan, and i can get one for a good price, but since my Chinese is not that good ;-) i want to be sure that the ROM can be changed to an English version.

I just followed the instructions from the forum and suceeded in flashing my DOPOD into an IMate (Chinese to English). Everything you need is posted in the forum. I am in Kaohsiung.

My father has recently visited Taiwan and picked up a Dopod 900 from a street shop for a pretty cheap price. Now, I'm wondering whether it's possible to change the ROM to *any* English ROM, since I'm not that great at reading Chinese. I'd also prefer not to have a brick after the process.

sorted use the special rom on wiki.xda site follow instructions (specialyy about boot loader ) and viola u will have a lovely o2 dopod

Dopod didn't make English ROM , now in here only English ROM can be use was I-mate, go to wiki and get the ROM from there and flush it your Dopod will become Dopod/I-mate , have fun

My Dopod 900 now used I-mate ROM and O2 Exec used Dopod ROM and I change them every two day , to try different thing in both. :lol: :lol: :lol:

First, all Dopod versions of Cavalier are bilingual (chinees and english), you can change language in settings.
The Dopod ROM on WIKI is a Hong Kong ROM.

I have a 1.16.707.7 English ROM while the HK Rom is 1.16.708.7. But it fails to upgrade with an invalid vendor id error(Error 294). Few folks at HO FO is using the 1.16.708.7 without any issues. wonder how....

Yes, I,m using that ROM too but forgot to change the signature.
I have a question, do you have a HTC S630, Dopod C730 or the Softbank version? Can you tell me your phone specs from device information. FYI there is no "free" CID unlock for Cavalier right now and you could brick your device if you flash the wrong ROM.

Did you register your phone on Dopod (HTC Asia) Singapore. If not, try that and check if the rom for Singapore has the same numbers.

Already registered. The only ROM available is the RUU_Cavalier_DOPODASIA_WWE_1.16.707.7_1.43.50.00_108_Ship.exe in the site, which I already have. Wonder whats the difference between 1.16.707.7 and 1.16.708.7?

I think that error 294 is "country error", that is why it won't let you flash HK ROM. Differences between 707.7 and 708.7 are minor, nothing regarding the interface but I would say a bit faster.

Hi all,
i've an italian Qtek 9000 and the official reseller didn't release any updates in two years, so i'm stuck with a bugged device.
I want to know which one could be the best Radio version at the moment (i'm using the german mobile network with T-Mobile) and the best/stablest ROM.
I've tried to access to the official Qtek website (and others) to see which updates it provides but my IMEI is not accepted, as it's tied to the italian company.
I can use an italian, english or german ROM, preferably an official one with WPA2 support, i don't have other requisites, i just need it to be reliable and stable.
Does anyone have any suggestions or can provide an image like that?

Nop, but the best ROM in english definetly is the Tomal v8.0 with radio 1.15

that's strange.
i just registered my diamond on the hongkong site but i couldn't find any download for the rom version you were saying.
That is the chinese version (not english version that released in early June) release today.

Apparently, there is . Press releases from www.dopod.com. But it is not yet release on the Chinese market.
It is known as Dopod S900.

For what HTC told me here (wondering how that Rom was out) they said it still ha bugs on OBEX and memory leak. (you migh try yourself of course)
request for Hong Kong English version ROM 1.37.707.1
Have any experts here dump the ROM 1.37.707.1 Hong Kong version? The South East Asia 1.37.707.1 version is nice but lacks the Hong Kong Regional Setting??? Wierd & it just don't feel right at all, would be nice to have the oem signed version.
& I just heard the latest release of this Hong Kong English version was just released few days ago. So I can also restore it as if OEM without voiding warranty.

I'm sitting at the office, i didn't check which OS Version is on that release, but i still can remember that the first and only one ROM released by o2 for the XDA Orbit was not so useful at all.
The OS language is German, that release bring the opportunity to recover your Diamond in case of warranty issues.
